Only brown people sacrifice babies right?.. jason
You only needs to be brown to collect the stones, the tower can be placed and triggered anywhere.
Considering the arc length on the home page its pretty much dead content. Not that it was content to begin with.
Current arc is almost 75 days old.

Come back when you have the urge to plant a really beautiful carrot patch or construct a diesel engine from scratch.
Still looking for a replacement.
Try rust.
Anyone else having flashbacks to the "ban spoonwood" threads.
Those of you who dont have the ability deal with someone expressing strong opinions and need them to be removed to pad your fragile ego dont belong on these forums.
Get lost and stop wasting peoples' time with pointless threads that are essentially cyberbullying.
[Edit] in retrospect it seems your post is less offensive than i presumed initially. That being said its not a healthy practice to call out individuals, aside jason, in your thread title. Especially when joined with "shut up this person forever"
I think we are getting a little off track here.
But is someone seriously suggesting getting oil by plane? Because.. thats literally the dumbest thing ive ever heard on these forums, and that's saying something.
If an advanced plane was added where it didnt run out of fuel in one flight and had storage space on par or better than the truck then it would be reasonable. But the whole plane system needs to be retrofitted if we want to see quality results. Maybe something similar to the key system or idk.
Anyway. Main issue is spawn mechanics. Played a few lives yesterday and everyone was so far spread. When a ginger family is fresh but the tech of the remaining families is advanced it forces a nasty turn over. Main issue i see is the spawn pattern. Simply moving west is painful. A day old family died out one of my lives and was 1.5k away from the new fams. If we are moving a kilometer a day we will never see long lived or stable towns and bloodlines.
Another issue i saw was people can rush engine wells. This isnt a big deal in general, but when gingers are not advanced enough to make oil and there is no kerosene on the map its a death sentence. A rare moment i actually wanted to deal with a newcommen pump.
Main splinters i see in the game are, all families are forced to work together but we are not allowed to live close to each other, spawns move too quickly to maintain families and towns, gingers are the only thing keeping advanced towns alive, and we are losing more than we are gaining on a daily basis. Player effort shouldn't just be dust in the wind.
Spoonwood wrote:DestinyCall wrote:Race restrictions should be removed.
Remove those and spreading out isn't an issue. Also, spreading out can resolve the longstanding lack of rebuilding from scratch issue.
I don't see anything about "trade" on Steam, nor race restrictions.
I DO see something about rebuilding from scratch:
"Leave a legacy for the next generation as you help to rebuild civilization from scratch. "
https://store.steampowered.com/app/5956 … _One_Life/
Additionally, and more importantly, a server filled with 90%+ new players like what happened during the sale is more likely to be able to handle a world without race restrictions than one with them.
Spoon, you keep saying it's an issue we're not rebuilding from scratch, but I really don't think that's a problem. Not every player is going to be the eve that spawns in right after a map wipe. Some of us are actually going to play in that society that she gives birth to. Currently the game has a whole lot more of the first thing happening and a whole lot less of the second.
Before race restrictions were introduced eves would spawn randomly all the time. There would be many families to spawn into at different stages of progression. Could even spawn as eve twins. A lot of people would /die so they could spawn as eve or so they could spawn into their old family so jason attached it to gene score.
The funny thing is. All these issues can be balanced with the right amount of players, with the right amount of experience, playing at the same time.
Jason only builds the game around them so for them its easy. Rush engine, pump oil, share it, make engine, pump oil with engine, PRINT steel.
One tarry spot pumped with an engine is worth 864 iron.
If that isnt cheap idk what is. All it takes is a few ambitious individuals that spawn into the right races to make it happen.
And we wonder why race restrictions exist...
The curse my baby mechanic is just catering to that stupidity. Imagine legitimately damning a baby to hell back in the day because it was too weak to live past a year. Like what kind of human being would you be? In modern times its even more stupid.
They should not leave bones. Simple as that. Players might be confused for a second but they will waste far less time thinking about it than wasting time dealing with their bones.
Towns quickly outgrow their resources so saying they are infinite is naive. The most important resource is time. So the larger a town grows and the more resources it depletes the more time it takes to get the resources it needs. Eventually it will take a lifetime to get some stone, or round rocks, anything basic.
Towns are built to die. No matter how hard we work. How spawns and race restrictions are structured leaves the longevity of families in the hands of jason, not us. Those 600 plus gen fams.. where they because of our hard work or because jason decided spawns should be structured 'this' or 'that' way. If you have played long enough you should know the answer.
There are dozens of mechanisms limiting growth, limiting stability, and limiting diversity. Why? Either because jason has some fucked up ideals about how society should exist and has a hubris beyond satan's to think he can control the chaos that is humanity. Or maybe he just can't afford servers that can support serious growth.. so he limits our ability to enable that growth. With tool slots, race restrictions, a rift, iron changes, homeland changes, and now this...
Wake up people. If you have been around long enough you know whats *actually* happening with the new change. Further down the path of monotony and predictability. Jason's only response to his inability to manage and balance a living player base.
Change is good, but this change isnt.
Issue i saw with "diverse" biomes before was that they didnt hold enough value. As in not containing anything of worth, even on lay lines. Big deserts with no sulfur, snow with no oil or fishing, jungle with no.. nosaj. Anyway. Biome restrictions suck. All jason is doing is slapping another massive bandaid on the 30 or so others to make biome restrictions "work".
Quit being consumed by your own pride jason. Respect your players, admit your faults, and try and build something great for everyone.
Ohol will always be ruled by meta gaming as long as there are people who understand it and have the ambition to see it through. Main point of this thread was that the effort you put forward doesnt resonate for long and is often thrown out the window in a day or two. Due to eve spawn mechanics and the desire to restrict lineage lengths.
Sounds cool. Will probably need some tweaking but I think it's better than the current system for sure.
Its attitudes like this that will ruin this game. Jason doesnt need to be encouraged to make bad decisions.
Cursing babies is just bad mechanics. How do you even know if that curse is justified or even preformed on the same person. What if someone accidentally spawned when they were looking to twin. Does that justify a curse? The mechanic was made for whiners who cant deal with the fact a baby wouldnt want them as their mom. It should be removed. No one would have problems with sids if they didnt leave bones behind.
Remove sid bones and remove curse my baby. Problem solved. Mechanics that shouldnt have existed in the first place.
Biggest thing missing in this game is legacy. Nothing lasts and due to the quickly moving spawn mechanics and overall forced turnover, gen food decay, everything gets wadded up and thrown in the trash in a couple days.
I never played this game to raise kids, or to bake, or to even build structures. I was attracted to this game because we all worked together to build a future for each other. This kind of system was far more common in the past when the only weakness a family faced was its own stability. Legacy mattered and you could spawn back to a town a day or two later and see that forge you built still rolling hot.
Even the rift had better legacy mechanics than the game in its current state. If you build a grand fortress city it lived until the arc reset. Potentially housing many families over hundreds of years.
Legacy is the value on a player's effort and as i see the game in its current state that value is underappreciated, and more often than not thrown away.
I hate this. Exploring and finding a good spot is one of the best parts of the game and now its just going to be boring as hell. Plus all this means is more walking... yay.
How about making the game more interesting and exciting than dull and predictable. Interesting for the players, not interesting for you.
The world doesnt work like this and one of the most interesting thing about our planet is its diversity. Why in gods name would you think its a good idea to remove that diversity and create a predictable and bland structure. Is it because you think the games too easy, or too hard? All i see this as is you indulging your own curiosity instead of actually trying to make adjustments to make the game better.

That's like saying that we have carnitas when you ask for bacon.
Its more like asking for an abacus when you have a calculator.
A post so nice spoon necroed it twice.
We have sprinklers...
My mistake. Anyone know total sales?
8,158,898 lives lived for a total of 1,829,513 hours.
That's over 208 years played collectively.
Yet we sit at 60 average players.
Food for thought.
RP without purpose is just cringe.
Why not rp as oil barrons, smugglers, miners, etc.
When you rp without a purpose its just distracting.
DestinyCall wrote:If you have plenty of a particular resource, but your neighbor has none, that is a potential trade opportunity.
It's exactly like biome restrictions right now.
BTW @Spoonwood. You were totally wrong from the beginning. Whites aren't supreme, even gingers aren't. The junglers are, because they can make apoc tower. It's not what you can have, but how much can you destroy that makes you powerful. If junglers were bright, they would just make apoc towers inside property and tell others if they don't give them what they want, they can just trigger apoc.
Like i mentioned before. Gingers are most powerful race. They are the only one that can survive on their own. They also have the exclusive supply of water and iron in late game. They dont need the other races for that supply either.
Apocalypse towers dont get built because they take at least a day to complete and they can be reset. Not to mention most people invest time and effort into the game and arnt fans of just deleting it all.
You need to make the stone circle. Then collect iron from the exposed iron veins on the same lay lines from the well. You get four each. Once you completely remove the iron, pop the well. If you do not fully remove them in that first stage they will go dry and you will never get iron in that area again. Once you pop the well you get an additional bit of iron but past that point it costs hungry work to produce one iron bar.
You not seeing my point is an example of that tunnel vision you accuse spoon of, dodge.
Thank you jony for bringing up the real issue. Player retention. How did we go from 350 to 150? to 70? In a little over a week. Answering that problem is what might save this game. I dont have the answer but i think finding it is probably the most important thing if we want to see the true potential of this game.
Being persistent is good but if what you believe in is dogshit, then you're just persistently running into a wall over and over again... without learning, adapting or being able to see anything else than the wall in front of you.
"No, even if what you asserted made sense, it wouldn't make sense on that basis, since the ability to pickup something from a banana tree is very different than the ability to understand human language. Monkeys pick bananas from trees: https://bugandanowcalleduganda.files.wo … anas_2.jpg. That doesn't make monkeys able to understand human language though. "
Ah yes good one Spoon that makes white people even more stupid than monkeys then since they cant even pick bananas from trees and monkeys can.
How is it possible to have that degree of tunnel vision?
This is honestly hilarious coming from you dodge. Maybe apply that stuff to yourself.

Also please stop arguing with Spoonwood he's a troll in denial
Just read how out there is arguments are and you will realize it.
I wouldn't call Spoonwood a troll exactly. He is too sincere. Even when his arguments make no sense to anyone else, you can tell that he fully believes in what he is posting. I don't think he is doing it just to mess with people. I suspect this game is his hobby and main social outlet right now.
At the same time, I have to agree that there is no point trying to seriously argue with Spoonwood, because his mind clearly works on Spoon-logic and, as everyone knows, spoons are very curved and bendy. Therefore, the logic of spoons appears curvy and strange to non-spoons. Unless you can think like a spoon, there is no point in even attempting a battle of wits with Spoonwood. That's like trying to eat a bowl of soup with a knife. Frustrating and potentially dangerous to everyone involved.
Someone might even lose an eye.

Honestly i have so much respect for spoon. One of the few on here who speaks their mind with no remorse. Rises aboves the hate they gets and keeps doing them. Not afraid to argue and actually reads peoples' posts and responds in context. Even if you dont agree with them you cant argue they dont care.
