Thanks!
Cause if death is not being logged in the family tree server except for if you are murdered. That is currently not being displayed, however. I will add the murder's name next week.
But if you are killed by a bear, that won't be shown. The lineage server is a separate piece of code that isn't loading any object descriptions, etc.
Yeah, I understand. Seeing murders will do just fine, You can check if your death was avenged or the murderer succeeded in killing everyone.
I've learned to sorta guess peoples cause of death, Like if several peoples final words were along the lines of "No food", "F" or "seeds" then it's safe to assume that generation suffered a famine. If they die young with final words like "Fuck You", "WTF" or "Why" then they probably got murdered. When my granddaughter died with the final words of "bear" then she probably got eaten.
I feel like the game should have had all the lineage stuff from the start but it's still a cool addition. It would be even better if we could see the cause of death and maybe currently alive people too, Maybe that's too much of an ask.
So many people with "F" as there final words, kind of depressing really.
You could try using this: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=1467
It lets you see a lot more than you normally can, Great for spotting griefers when they think you can't see them. Also useful for exploring. Besides that my advice would be not to stand still around armed people.
I tried to raise one of the satan bots, I wasted lots of food trying to keep it alive.
Also
I once adopted a baby as a Male, My sister let many babies die. I felt bad for a poor baby boy that got abandoned in her desperate pursuit for a daughter. It was only two of us and we had tons of food stocked up.
I saw him helplessly cry "F" and "Y" as he slowly starved, I caved last minute and fed him a carrot. My sister had a daughter soon after and I raised the boy as my own. I was hoping he could replace me when I died. Unfortunately, He held a grudge against his mother and sought revenge.
I was working away when I heard the death cry. I rushed over and saw my nephew with a bloody knife in hand and my wounded sister bleeding out. "Fuck you mum" he screamed before she died. Unfortunately, He also killed my niece for being the "Favourite".
He didn't kill me and went to harvest carrots like nothing happened. The civ was fucked and I felt responsible for the civs demise, My one act of kindness lead to our doom. I got my bow from it's hiding place and shot the boy, I couldn't let him get away with his murders. His last words were "I trusted you".
Aww that's a shame, That was a nice town. I forgot my name but I lived a full life in that place. I spent most of my time hunting rabbits, Took a break to have a few kids. Had a couple daughters and some sons but most of my sons died I think. I tried to make clothing but all the family holes were gone and the village nearly collapsed. The farm had completely ran out of seeds, thankfully the people were smart enough to survive on wild food. I dedicated the rest of my later life to helping the farm, I collected lots of wild seeds and a nephew collected soil.
We got the farm back on track, I was worried that my daughters had died but they just living in the wild for a bit. They cameback once food production was back.
We extended the farm and made sure people knew what they were doing. I was happy to see that my grandchildren were hard at work making pies and working in the farm. I died at 60 knowing that the next generation would flourish.
It was interesting seeing an actual war between towns. I noticed that more boys were being kept then usual, although they all got sent to war and few survived. I was in the opposing town, I never did any raids but I was ordered to keep boys because apparently, they needed more soldiers. First time I was actively encouraged to keep boys lol.
It's sad that griefers can organize better than most towns can. I saw another instance of this in a different town, People were making bows and arrows to "Go raid the north civ". Apparently that North civ had stolen stuff earlier.
Do cites need to start setting up organized guards to counter the raiding parties.
the gender reasoning is pointless in a game that has no difference besides reproduction. i do like the idea of high risk rewards, you mentioned the mining and i kind of like it. Children are disposable(historically high infant mortality and use of children for labor), A village chooses a queen. The queen lives in/near a mine. Her children are taught to mine, She leaves one female child for the legacy and the job, but any beyond the first is fed only on the condition they mine. The legacy child would then be crowned queen. The village farmers keep their queen well fed and cared for so the smiths can provide them with better tools to farm and weapons/defenses to defend. The village thrives until the miner line dies. Their lack of metal means they are soon left vulnerable.
Meanwhile the alternate bloods lines, the smiths, the farmers, the bakers, and the bilden. work to grow and expand the village. This of course would mirror the real world in that a line of people usually continued in the same occupation. We see this in surnames, especially european(i'm sure it is in other languages but i am ignorant of them), like smith, farmer, tailor, bilder(builder), barker, barber, cooke, cooper, etc.
Clearly not feasible at the moment, but hopefully in the future this could play out in a really great cooperative town that could allow us to move out of the primitive age.
EDIT: clarifying the children are disposable line lol
It's hard for that to happen because people want to do different things. It's like when I get told to Farm and i'm like "ugh, I hate farming" but someone needs to do it otherwise everyone dies.
At least I learned some lessons for the next time I see a steel file and a random kid just silently crafting away at the forge! But dammit Baker, omg. It was me who said that it was *probably* the blonde, but I meant the curly haired woman with a shirt and no pants, not the boy. I didn’t even know for sure if it was her either but she seemed sketchy to me too because there were no maple trees around, and when I finally got a firebrand, she turned it into a short shaft.... not sure if it was intentional tho. You just really can’t trust anybody. I never thought a child of mine would murder a whole village but it happened. Constant vigilance!
It's pretty hard to pinpoint who the griefer is if you didn't catch them red-handed, all you can is speculate who it was. I think it was your unnamed son the entire time, He was the "mastermind" behind that whole operation. He had probably intended to kill the farm with milkweed but he took the opportunity to steal the file and make a knife instead.
I was actually the one with the file in my pack. I know that I must have seemed sketchy at the time but I had the towns best interests at heart. Me starving was a rookie move on my part, I was trying to explain myself and neglected my hunger in the process.
The reason I had that file was to prevent people from making knives, I had been trying to protect that town for several lives. I do believe the person I killed was actually innocent in the end, In my defense the only info I was had was that the blonde had done it. He was both blonde and in the area at the time, It was a rushed decision on my part.
It was my fault for dying like a noob.
On a side note, Luvui was a result of me and another boy messing around with making letters. It used to say "Luv" but he made an extra U and an I by mistake and added it to my sign.
Guys I need help bad, How do you reply to threads??!!!??
It's not that funny guys.

That one is definitely the biggest one doing it. If I'm born into a big town the first thing I do as soon as I'm old enough is go and help the carrot farm. It doesn't matter how many times you stand next to a row saying "seed" someone always comes and picks it and then then next one you designate as seeds causing the whole food system to collapse.
Hard to tell if it's griefing or just stupidity.
If you spend a whole 5 minutes telling people it's the seed row, then you're the griefer - not them. Do something productive, like trap rabbits or farm berries.
Innovation is needed, technology is improving and we need to make use of it. Instead of having to yell "this is seeds" over and over they could make a sign, automates the process. But seriously, I aso hate people that do nothing but tell me what row is seeds, If your worried about seeds then go out and collect some.
Why are you guys feeding trolls, you do realize this is what he wants right?
I remember one of the seed guards killed our village anyway. Our only girl ate the seeds and got shot, We would have screwed either way.
Lol, having a great time scaring people with the number thing. They probably think i'm a bot and I probably shouldn't because it makes them abandon me.
Also, for those who say that griefing is not a problem anymore, or is not a serious or overwhelming problem, or that only a few vocal players are worried about it, or that it can be dealt with through a culture of shaming griefers, or whatever.....
....one of my friends said, "Can't you just ask them to stop?"
If the game allows this, it's part of the game, and people are going to do it. It IS part of the game, but having ways to deal with it is also supposed to be part of the game. Every civilization needs to figure out how to deal with this, both inside and outside the game.
Currently, in the game as it stands, I know that I could destroy every village, and I know there would be no way for them to stop me in the long run, even if they were paying attention and killing me whenever they caught me. I'd just keep coming back.
This is a problem. It doesn't matter what happens in practice, or what people will actually do. It matters that it is possible.
If it's not a huge problem now, there is potential for it to be a huge problem in the future. I'm not going to wait until it's a huge problem before I fix it.
You sound like Joriom.
I've been succesfully using my "From A to Z how good ar you?" method in order to know what to teach to whom...it reduces the selecting by forum debates, and it gives you as a mother more time to organise. If you have a Z baby, they will know to stay in good temp and you'll have time to run around untill they starve, or if you have the time you can teach a begginer the ropes, etc.
I like that, I'm stealing your idea.
I think you were right to kill them, overpopulation leads to famine. Perhaps you should have run it by everyone before deciding to act but you made a worthy sacrifice for your village, even if they don't realize. Sounds like your farm was already in bad shape so her having loads of kids would have killed everyone.
Yeah, It does suck when to see someone bleeding to death and nothing can be done. Would be good for an innocent villager, not so much for that lone killer.
It was a bit harsh for me to say "Man up and get over it", I know it sucks when you get murdered in the middle of a good life. I guess what I meant to say was don't give them the satisfaction during your final moments or in a forum post. People that say "Lol" or "XD" when shot doesn't give the griefer any fuel.
But I still feel like an ass and i'm sorry.
Some of these are a long shot but I'll say them anyway.
Jungles/Rainforest: Good place for fruits and trees but lots of snakes and tigers.
Oceans: Used for fishing, water is useless on farms. Needs a boat to traverse, could have islands and other continents.
Volcanos: Has alot of fertile soil and ores, erupts every once and while. Inspired by places like Pompeii
Dunno if any of them are any good
Your rage over a simple video game is what makes worth it for them. Maybe it's YOU that should man up and get over it.
What happens to abandoned babies, Do they also go down a level?
I gotta try this, I'm not great at this kind of thing but I gotta try it. I'm curious as to how larger civs would look like with this, would make exploring a lot easier.
Although having this definitely gives you an advantage over others, You can see them when they can't see you. Could be used for both and bad.
No ones even mentioned the Cactus Fruits yet.
It was probably our descendants. TrustyWay’s post said he made the first crown himself and when I was there, that was the only crown. Someone must have made another or it was a different Chinatown lol. Population was crazy and the farm did not look well when I died
Seems like big towns just periodically suffer from famines that kill a lot of the population. But it seems like they eventually get stuff back in order and the population replenishes, then the cycle repeats.
