Until Jason balance the game to 1 Eve per 4 players, so we can keep up, we can do it artificially ourselves.

when 5 take a basket and leave camp.

go to fresh lands, eat , get strong.

run further, make a  hatchet, run again to new berries and milkweed. never return to the same place.

make a fire bow. now you have a basket with 1 hatchet, 1 fire bow, one food item. Run again.

before 13 find a spot with a lot of berries, to prepare for the first bb. make an extra basket and leave it there.

give birth, explain bbs the strategy.

The strategy: curry basket, follow me, follow the ! whistle.

organize your BBs:
Have you zoom?
are you veteran?
(if he is new you know its from notification)

name all zoom kids with Z, name all veterans with V, name noobs with N

HOW to use bbs:
Z will be harvesting resources and bring it to the team
V will be taking care of new bbs
N are there to be fed , follow you and curry your staff.

inform noobs:
say f when hungry, Many new players, onetech.info for crafting, play tutorial.

BB reaches 3: fill his basket with berries feed him and say RUN.
Always walk from bush to bush, whistle to guide him through. keep him fed

repeat for the next bb
you will probably have like 3 baskets now ( meaning 3-4 people following you), go to a new bush, if you have a V or Z bb say Z/V get sharpstone , to others say EAT. wait for the Z to come, Tell him EAT, then RUN.

Next item snare , you have a lot of peeps now you don't need an item food in your basket, just keep your belly full from wild bushes.
Run again. be sure that bbs get the tactic, make sure every time you stop to a bush to say EAT. Then RUN. Whistle if you turn or loses sight.

Next item, Flint Chip. repeat the same as for sharp stone, Z get flintchip, wait, EAT, RUN

Next item, rabits, new bush, give your snare to Z take his flint chip to make room in his basket. Z burdock. wait , EAT , RUN.
go to the new bush near pair, Z hunt rabbit. Wait , EAT, RUN

Next item, Needle. run to a place with berries and maple. make 2 fires. one to keep you all warm and the other to cook rabbits.

Use milkweed for thread, Repeat RAbbit hunting till you have bp, then cloths.
( You will have reached 60 by now, the final phrase " Keep Running " )

Jason could you lower the peep drain for those days that we get too many new players?

game is close to unplayable veterans cant keep up.

One idea is that you can RIDE through a bad biome on a horse or vehicle.  The riding protects you, so it makes sense.  And you can't "drop" your horse or car, because that would make you sick, so that makes sense too.

However, this doesn't help the early game at all, because you need to find a horse family to get that first ride.  Though desert families could explore far and wide.

DO this, horse get you anywhere.

Early Eve game is hard and we built staff to overcome it like wells, farms, pens.  Horses will be one of the items to overcome the hardness of traveling.
(they will also allow the vanilla users to see what's in the special biomes, maybe some people have invested in those places or valuable needed resources are there. )

IF I buy the game on steam, will I receive a key to download and play from the desktop version as well? (without log in in steam)

Miskas, this is SO CLOSE to what I'm shooting for.  You were on a real quest there, and it paid off.  You couldn't just stand around the fire and sluff your way through the "challenges" of building a pump for the 100th time.  You had to think on your feet.

I don't want you to have to walk that far, and I'm trying to figure out why people are so spread out.  Eves are spawned 200 tiles apart...

However, you could take a map with you to mark the town you find.  Maps are primitive (blue paper).  Still, 800 is a long distance.

I have spread maps, but relying on the Mode users to do the work is what you want?

Elsewhere you said that you knew the map.  In addition to using mods, did you also rely on the biome patterns of the map that you had seen in previous lives also when you trekked between families?  On the topography of the map?

the topography of biomes, no.  I relly springs gradients, on human footprint, camps, and villages, I have played and travel so much today that I have visited like 6 villages and 3 camps. I have learned the current part of the map through constant traveling all my life. I have played 5 hours in total.

Not yet spawned as a brown but one brown managed to come to the north village of Translators (former black village). He was there when I visited them as black from south. I think He said that he came from 400 tiles west. Too bad he died before give birth. I took the last tire back home though, to ginger and black people. I also let my daughter there to breed.

Brown wherever you are, come back east, to civilization! Help us and we will help you! tongue

#284 Re: Main Forum » Come on Jason, this doesn't fkin work » 2019-11-19 15:10:26

Many tires and many horses, that was me... I brought them in as a translator.
Well to find a race you have to start walking by 5 years old. and keep walking....The problem until now is that brown race hadn't spawned.
Jason fixed that and the current eve is brown and if it dies the new eve will be brown again.

I have traveled for about 2.5 hours today. I know where every civ is, except brown that just spawned. It must be north or west of Leaf village, they have blacks in them as well.

To find other cities I only follow springs with gradients on them. It's not easy. it's more of a luck grinding. But I know the map now. I have also spread some maps. I will try to find Brown people to help with the situation.

We clearly need an extra way to help us find other Civs though right now the grind is hard.
Primitive Drum to work as a limited bell tower would be nice.

#287 Re: News » Update: Family Specialty » 2019-11-19 11:30:52

I was a born Male in Rain family that are translators.
My town had palm oil and a latex bucket from a previous family that was living there but had been gone.
we had a pump but needed a rubber.

At the age of 5, I left my city naked with a bowl full of berries to try to find sulfur, I went north.
I found an abandoned city full of cloths, carts but no rubber. I gear up, took a cart and headed north again with 2 buckets, a saddle and I also made a lasso on my way up. I ate my berry bowl that helped me reach this far to make room for my 2 buckets saddle and lasso.

I was going straight, following dry springs with Gradients. Reaching further north, dry shrines stopped and now I knew Tha I am far from any civ! Where do I go? Do i have to go east now , from previous lifes I knew that it not at all easy to find other civs. I said fuck it I will try north again and I was rewarded, a dry spring was next and with North Gradients as well!

I follow the Gradient and met a black tribe, I gave them my buckets and put out the saddle and lasso and asked for sulfur and a horse. They were primitive, only a shallow well. But they could understand me and we went together right away to the near-desert for the sulfur. They didn't have and adze so they promised me that they will tame a horse if I bring them latex. I took 3 bowls of sulfer and headed back home taking some more stuff from the abandoned camp.

Reaching home I gather my family with a lot of whistles to tell them about it. They start right away to work on rubber, soon enough we had water.
I used the two extra tires to upgrade my cart and make sure it will not decay soon. Head north again, We had no more latex but I remembered the abandoned camp had some.

Before I leave home I tried to take some palm oil bowls with me but...cough cough...uncontainable. Thank god the abandoned city had some kernels as well.  I took an adze as well to make sure I will have my horse.

Upon reaching the blacks I made them a fence for horse and a granny went to bring in my horse. I told them to fill it with sulfer, grany was old so I found a young girl for this. they cooked my kernels and I went find a skewer, We made rubber and I took 1 of the 4 tires. I was going to tell my people to move north closer to then and one tire would be a nice show of that there is wealth there.

On my way back while I was passing from the abandoned city I Saw 2 ladies, 2 white ladies. I asked thme where is their home, the one lady said close, about 200 tiles. We headed this way. Upon reaching I was getting older so I wanted to make sure I pass my knowledge I told her that black people are north fron abandoned city and my tribe is south. I told them to move to the abandoned village and that I will tell my family to come as well. Then I wanted to make sure that they will be able to rehabilitate the place so I gave them the tire to use it on pump. After that, I run straight to my fam.

Upon reaching, people at their 40s were talking, I told them about all the stuff I knew and to transfer the knowledge to the rest of the tribe.
Big abandoned city north, Black and white people are north, move there. it has rubber. Tell the others to Take our stuff and move!
They weren't so interested so I gone to the young girls, thank god they knew what had to be done. I was running up and down my village, whistling and informing the more I could. After I was done I parked my cart and died next to it. leaving my gear for the next traveler to pick it up.

Jason I had to walk more of 800 tiles distance up and down to do all these, quickly spot food and dangers in the wild (a lot of wolves and bears), navigate through biome dead ends. Have instant map awareness of the new cities I visited, be able to stay on track without losing my way, Spot other people while moving.  The new update can be nice for modders, but do you think it can be played from a 11*6 box? I had zoom of course but you don't really need all of it. Giving vanilla players a 17*10 view would enable them to properly play the new update, don't you think that?

Even onetech is personal preference. I enjoyed learning things in game, although I did have to run a private server for a while to figure out radios and engines - those tend to take a very special moment in history on a public server.

oh yeah, A private server would also help!  with a lower peep drain as well!
Jason could even just add a door in the skip tutorial room. and let a bunch of stuff lay outside for people to practice.
People are not pc literate or they are bored to learn about private servers.

#290 Re: Main Forum » How do you parent children? this is my way. » 2019-11-18 12:04:56

you are losing staff right under your nose,
you cant find/follow people easily,
you cant travel easily,
you don't have village/map awareness.
You lose horses from your sight.
You need a lot more time searching and wandering, meaning you need a lot more food to do something and before finished what you did you have to find food again.
So The game becomes more of a searching and wandering grind.

#291 Re: Main Forum » How do you parent children? this is my way. » 2019-11-18 11:52:39

The immersion is lost cause I have to treat every vanilla and noob user as a "special" child.
A child that has short eye vision (vanilla screen) and learning difficulties (tooltip). And I can't know if they are special if I don't ask them.
I want my children to survive and I wanna know if they need help.
I would stop asking them if Jason had made it obvious in-game menu that there are the one tech and mods alternatives.
The only he has to do is put a one-tech link in-game menu and give a very little zoom to vanilla so they are not blind to their surroundings.

hi bb.
Do you have Zoom mode? (if answers no, then)
Do you know OneTech? (if answers no, then)
Do you know to use a backpack?

-I always tell my kids to carry a pie in BP and I give them a berry bowl full of wild berries and instruct them to always have it with or near them and eat from it till they get older.

-I always try to find a backpack for them and I tell them to find/make clothes

-I always tell noob kids to download a zoom mode to enjoy the game

I really believe that the OneTech link has to be in the game main menu rather only in the forum and a small zoom must be in the vanilla version.
Player retention Would be a lot better if people knew about one tech and zoom mode, People must know that Vanilla and tooltip is not their only option.
Especially now that we need to Travel to survive and the map seed is crap, play with vanilla is the worst experience you could have.

#294 Re: Main Forum » Did Your Family Trade? » 2019-11-18 08:35:04

I think with the new cheap property system, Gift trade can be more common now.
with tool slots, the only trades I made were more on a form of co-operation on the spot,
I traded a needle/thread +toolslot for a shoe, one guy had bp furs but didn't have thread, I asked for his shoe to make his bp.
Also another time a guy came to the smith (me) and asked for a shovel. Bring me kindling and I will make you shovel I said. If I had already made a shovel though he wouldn't ask me nether brought me kindling.

Now with the property, you can work first, store your products in the property and then people come to ask for them.
The best way to trade is to see what others might need, make it store it and then make them work for you to give it to them. Next time I will hire milkweed farmer kids to help me improve the storage of my property.

PS: The specialization is combinations of both, a huge property fence for the whole family and a baffed tool slot system.

Disclaimer: BE POLITE AND GENEROUS. we don't live in a strictly policed community yet. Anyone can be armed don't steal or make anything that goes to the extreme because then you deserve to be cursed and slaughter, We live in an anarchy system, Don't Tread on them cause they will bite you.

#295 Re: Main Forum » Did Your Family Trade? » 2019-11-17 22:58:55

I made a personal property and traded a scavenged Backpack for 2 berry/carrot bowls to help me set up my second property , my personal pen.

In my property, I had 2 full sets of cloths + bps, thread, some extra furs. Pies, bow and arrows, 2 wolf skins. 1 sheep, the only horse of the village and a wild gooseberry bush.  I inherit it to a girl before I die.

#296 Re: Main Forum » Will we get a map restart on Moday ? » 2019-11-17 16:23:43

I spawned as a jungle race.
I was able to collect Sulfer, eat cactus, do fishing and I would be able to also extract oil if it wasn't exhausted.
The map is so messy that special resources are not in their special biomes.

#297 Re: Main Forum » Suggestion: Map copy » 2019-11-17 12:52:08

written map+flat rock. then put an empty map on . then use a pencil to copy it.

#298 Re: Main Forum » Will we get a map restart on Moday ? » 2019-11-17 10:33:38

If I walk far enough my family would die cause they won't be able to get the resources they need.

It's a developer mistake, not a player-driven one.
Bugs that get fixed are usually good for gameplay.

The map biomes are just colors now and resources are random.
Navigating as a Vanilla client is based on luck.

you said you will just wait for us to expand to new lands that are seeded correctly. But people, because they know they need the other races that are behind, they go behind as well so expansion is reduced.

Could we end this mess? At least tell us if there a way to restart the map ourselves.

ps edit:
I spawned as a jungle race.
I was able to collect Sulfer, eat cactus, do fishing and I would be able to also extract oil if it wasn't exhausted.
