YES it absolutely will, this isnt habbo hotel

also, people arent forced to build storage if wood is low and like I said, trees can be planted, roads can be built to wood areas, we're far faaar off a wood disaster

& the next problem with storage objects just lurks around the corner, wood shortage

since reed was nerfed by decay it has become a problem, one has to use straw to make baskets, which then if used additionally to the compost production will produce an excess of flour, same as the clothing produced now an excess of poop

just plant pines ffs

im trying to actually give us reasons to spend resources here

if people want trade we'll have to make resouces matter, lets at the very least see what happens if wood becomes more important

#303 Re: Main Forum » How Toxic made Jason make griefing easier. » 2019-04-22 23:51:19

ridiculous changes, ridiculous reason for changes

for the record "act smart jason" is preferred over "act fast jason"

true for curses, fences and all out of the blue ideas

#305 Re: Main Forum » Iron is a bad bottleneck resource » 2019-04-22 23:40:05

its bad as the only bottleneck

we need more of those, preferably alternating by each game stage

personally i'd like mines to be upgradeable so cars arent so rare

Well, I'm now looking at d-town as a temporary stop-gap.

Hopefully, eventually, police forces, leadership, law, etc. will be possible, making it much easier and practical to deal with griefers life after life, instead of needing to deal with them in a trans-life way.  Also, figuring out how to make a family really matter to players.

So I'm not going to spend more time on the curse system just now...

thank goodness

Was this a bad change?  I guess I didn't think much about it, and fixed it for logical consistency.

cant pigs be the poop animal? they're so lame right now

Iron should be the bottleneck, tbh. I'm fairly certain that Jason has even said as such on multiple occasions. But no one is really asking for buffs, just changes. The only buff mentioned was someone talking about a "domestic" milkweed that gave thread. And I was hesitant regarding that, unless it had some sort of drawback to compensate.

I guess you could consider my original idea a buff, but it would probably go along with a nerf to the amount of milkweed that spawns. Suggestions were meant to be more quality of life than anything else. I have to wonder if you even read anything or are just straw manning/knee jerking.

There cant be just one bottleneck, and iron is just the long term one. Soil, water, food, kindling, all work as bottlenecks at some stage of the game.

actually having too few needs makes barter very unviable, and the game economy a mess (iron has to be common enough to be found which causes it to pile lategame, despite being heavily used, and if its too rare there's no progress)

diverse economies are easier to balance at some points, for instance making kindling rarer can be countered by planting more threes or getting oil pump (though both are hefty long-term investments)

#310 Re: Main Forum » So, Jason. When do we get an update for milkweed farming or poop? » 2019-04-22 17:49:11

please, no more buffs

can we just get actual uses for the resources we produce? I know its boring but milkweed and iron needs are the only things that really slow our progress a bit

I'm fine with some advanced rope making or whatever, but at least make it post lathes for now

The hardcore players don't get this, but part of the game's widespread appeal is the close-in, personal nature of the whole thing.  Being able to see the characters and their interactions.

I mean, it would help if people actually used buildings/talked in close quarters

while the fov is obviously designed for that, buildibgs still see fringe use

#312 Re: Main Forum » HOW I STOPPED TWISTED FROM STREAMING! » 2019-04-22 16:57:00

np, we can gang curse you if you do this again

twisted should consider getting a second account anyway

you can't have it both ways,
not have things you made being your property & not have it stolen by anybody ruthless

what we have now is the result of the first, things get stolen, no matter who made it,
it was always that way but with the fences, it becomes paralyzing to the work needed to be done

- - -

yes, because fences were obnoxious, exactly like you're pproposing

the amount of clutter, double items and waste that would be made with item property would break this game.

everything good about ohol is related to it feeling not very gamey, picking anything thats on the floor, having to deal with other players, this is part of the game

#317 Re: Main Forum » Taking prisoners ! » 2019-04-21 14:11:21

the fact this can be done without locks is ridiculous

prisons are great experiments tbh, its not even hard to survive in them

Omg this exact situation happend when I twinned with a friend this week. There was a weird girl hiding a cart full of two baskets of pies, and two baskets of tool heads. I asked her where shes going and she replied "not here". She put them into a cart and drove away.

I would stab her but me and my buddy had low curse thresholds so yeah... I told her to just take one basket of pies but she was stubborn.

Ty for pointing this griefer's method out, will try to stab all the nabs using this method smile

dont be silly, if she was carrying heads its likely she made them, so not stealing

Zoom is a fun topic. This game's fov is clearly designed for close-up conversation, good inside buildings.

Yet buildings have fringe uses lel

They look cute and say "someday you can make pies here".

I think the point is not to USE the oven before you use the forge.   But simple to define a space as "the bakery" so that the village can grow around that spot, instead of being centered around the forge.

i see that, but if left idle with an oven kids might cause problems. I sometimes gathered some skewers after kiln to keep kids busy with farming, this seems similar but if oven does nothing kids might go out and die.

One good way to signal that it's an oven by choice is to add the first batch of pies next to it or unfinished ones. Most would not bother with making a kiln out of it then.

I like the idea. It's really important to try to put down the layout of a town early because people will fuck it up if they're left to do the work themselves.

I think Pein was suggesting building an oven before firing clay.  There's no way to have a batch of pies without plates.

Also, with the forge a bit further away, there's the possibility that griefing might have more of an effect, since the smith or those at the smith seem more likely to be the more advanced players. Though, I could be mistaken in that assumption.

I agree.  People do NOT want to compute how much iron gets used on multipurpose engine technology, and transfer that iron to potato and other food usage.  They would rather play around with all that tech.

Poe's law strikes again.

spoon actually believing he isnt a joke is gold

even with the changes, even at 50 yum potatoes are worse than milk. 560 food per two soil and one water is worse than the same food for half the soil.
