Good old Chinatown, I'm surprised it survived so long with so many people. I do remember a king and queen, dunno if it was you guys or your descendants. I remember one of them told me to retire, I figured that meant they wanted me to die so they could have my stuff.

Besides setting up everything for the next person, I try to make a little memorial for my fallen people. I also try to hold out until I die of old age, It increases the chances an eve will spawn near.  I've heard about civs that ran out of girls, kidnapping little girls from neighboring towns.

I don't think you could get banned from the discord, Apparently, mods can't ban.

I was abandoned by a mother in the rabbit area by the north town and vowed to get revenge. I spawned back right in town and was taken care of this time by a different mom. Grew up waiting to see that players name. Finally found her and I took that sweet sweet, oh so sweet, revenge. Then I lost my mind filled with the blood of the baby aborter and had to kill everyone I could. I couldn't stop. I was rage filled because of her leaving me to die.

Moral of the story..... Don't abort your babies. Take care of them.

Why did you take it so personally, How come an entire town had to die because someone didn't want a baby. Not everyone wants to spend most of their lives raising babies. It's not their fault you suddenly popped out of them while they were busy.

Besides, I don't think you should take care of every single baby. It leads to overpopulating your village and food running out, plus I don't think 5 babies screaming "F" is compelling gameplay. It wasn't even that big of a deal for you, you spent a few seconds starving then you were reborn to someone willing to raise you.

I don't think you even care anyway you're just trying to justify your actions.

On a separate note, I think I was born in that town north of yours. My family where 3 crowned individuals, They spoke of a great city to the south. After we were a bit older they returned to the city and we ran things by ourselves, the village did well. My mother came back after many years to check on us, I think she was surprised to see everyone alive and well.

I never went to the city myself, I was preoccupied with our own little village. But I did hear many stories about it, It's just that city life isn't for me.

I'm imagining a fully grown adult, still relying on others to feed him.

"F"

"Dude your like 30..."

#307 Re: Main Forum » Whatever happened to Ted? » 2018-04-25 17:23:20

By the sounds of it, I'm guessing that Ted quickly died. I too have had many retarded kids in my lifetimes and none of them have ever survived long. Many of my kids are like Ted and they all yield the same result.

They make it to around the age where they grow hair and die soon after. They will normally just starve on there own, You can try to keep them alive but that's just wasting resouces on someone that isn't contrbuting anything.

#308 Re: Main Forum » Are all towns gone? » 2018-04-25 09:58:55

Had another somewhat decent life, had a shit ending tho. Was born in another desert town, we started with a good amount of stuff.  I spent most of my life forging tools with my sister. We had a sheep farm already and it was going fairly well, I didn't spend much time in the carrot farm. I actually lived off berries and cactus fruit for most of my life.

Apart from that I made some mutton pie and tried to teach kids. One of the kids even called me "Dad" because I fed them berries and taught them stuff. It was all well until I got older. The carrot farm was neglected and all the women were pumping out hoards of rotten kids. They descened upton the carrot farm like a swarm of locusts, The niece that I raised was desperetly trying to keep them under control but without success.

I was getting old and cranky, I considured getting my knife out and slaying most of the kids. I still liked my village and I didn't want to be remembered as some griefer that slayed the children. I decided to pass on my backpack to my niece, with the knife included. I told her to do whatever it took to protect and keep everyone alive, even if it meant killing the ignorent.

With my weapon gone, I longer posed a threat to my village. I intended to continue my work for the reminder of my life. Unfortunely kids had eaten up all of the food supply. I see one of the kids with a pack full of carrots, "Can you spare an old man a carrot" I tell him. "No" Says the very friendly kid. Them fucking ungratful little snobs, I put in a lifetime of hardwork, I worked tirelessly smithing and baking, yet in the end they couldn't even spare me a single gooddamm carrot.

I hope my niece cut a few of them down after I died.

#309 Re: Main Forum » Are all towns gone? » 2018-04-24 10:33:03

I've seen a few places that are more well off than others but nothing I'd class as a city.  I consider spawning in a carrot farm to be lucky because I've been getting mostly wild eves.
Nothing seems to last longer than a few generations and even then it's often a very small civ. I've seen uninhabited ruins of a city, everything was overgrown and decayed.

I had a fairly decent life recently in which I lived to 60. It was small encampment but we had the means to craft steel tools and a sheep pen was completed in my lifetime. I had 1 son and 1 daughter that made it to adulthood, the rest died off. I got grandkids which I was pretty happy about.

There was one good looking civ I saw but they killed me for being a boy, went there later as an eve and everyone had died and everything of value decayed.

#310 Re: Main Forum » connection problem » 2018-04-21 16:19:23

Happens to me too. Good news is that farming isn't as bad as I first thought and sustaining a village can still be done, bad news is everytime I'm in one of these villages I lose connection.

#311 Re: Main Forum » Has the game become too dystopian? » 2018-04-21 13:38:47

I actually saw a few stable farms BUT then the server started having problems. I was daughter to an Eve who had already had a small farm and plentiful berries around.

Unfortunately, I died from CONNECTION LOST, I talked to other people and it's happened to them too. Seems like every city instantly decayed after the update, it really does feel like an apocalypse again.

I don't know why Jason hates farming so much, It's already been made harder several times. People complained back then and what did Jason do, Make it even harder. Jason has stated that he doesn't want civs to survive long-term yet most of us bought the game so we could build civs that last for many generations.

I'm going to wait for things to stabilize a bit, hopefully, we can adapt to these changes and get things back on track.

Jason, If you happen to read this (Doubt it but you never know). We are struggling enough as it is, give us a damn break. Stop making the game harder and destroying all of civilization everytime we get a foothold.

#313 Re: Main Forum » Is it worth following the bell tower "home markers" » 2018-04-21 05:31:32

So what I'm getting from this is that cities shouldn't be building them bell towers. By ringing the bell you attract a bunch potential undesirables to your city. If your city is already doing well, you probably shouldn't be broadcasting your location to outsiders.

If you ring the bell you're likely to get freeloaders, thieves and murderers loading up there carts and heading straight for your town.
I'd only do it if we desperately needed more people, perhaps if my city ran out of fertile women. Cities need a way of filtering the refugees. If we only we could let in the hard-working refugees and prevent the bad eggs from entering.

So I recently discovered that everytime a bell tower rings, these that don't already have a home marker set will get that leads directly to the bell tower. So most of the times the city in question is very far away, It took me about 20+ to actually reach my destination (more on that later) when I was trying it out.
It started out as me being curious, I got a mysterious home marker that leads me far from my village.

So because that bell tower is so hard to make, you can assume that the city is pretty advanced. As an Eve or a primitive villager, you might be tempted to follow it so you can reach that city. But I've learned not to be fooled so easily.

I was in a fairly small village but we were doing okay, then I heard the bell ring. I was told to follow the "home marker" arrow and it'll lead me to a city. I was told to travel there and possibly spread my bloodline to that location. I was excited because I got to go on adventure instead of normal slave labor. I loaded my cart with food and set off, for years I traveled through dangerous lands. I had a kid along the way but they didn't make it.

After a long journey that lasted many years, I finally reached the city. I was told that the city had run out of resources and that everyone was starving, I was disappointed, to say the least. I had taken the bait and suffered the consequences, it was our own fault for falling into the trap. Perhaps someone had rung that bell out of bordem and assumed no was stupid enough to actually travel to the wretched city. Maybe the city was doing well at the time but fell into disrepair during the roughly two decades it took to travel there. Maybe they wanted to lure people to there doom.

Was I unlucky or is this normally the case when a naive adventure follows the sound of the bell tower. Did anyone have better luck when traveling to one of these cities, I'd like to know.

#315 Re: Main Forum » Mystery sounds? » 2018-04-20 06:12:01

I also heard that it was supposed to be "anti-apocalypse" but the apocalypse is disabled so I wouldn't know for sure. Maybe if someone tried to trigger the apocalypse a completed bell tower would be destroyed instead.

#316 Re: Main Forum » To all my babs and grandmother; I'm sorry I was a terrible person » 2018-04-20 03:31:11

Sounds like you did alright, you kept all your kids, named them all and had both girls and boys. If anyone was a shitty mother it was yours, she abandoned you when you were the last girl. It's lucky your grandmother saved you because otherwise, your village would die.

#317 Re: Main Forum » Deciding who has a baby » 2018-04-20 03:18:12

I'm all for nearby males giving a passive increase in fertility as long a male can't bomb women with tons of kids. Would be pretty cool if the closest male to a baby when it's born would become the babies father (As long as the male was old enough, wouldn't want a random kid to become a father.).

#318 Re: Main Forum » Weird meta-idea: stuck in a life for an hour » 2018-04-18 15:29:11

People could effectively go into suspended animation for as long as they need and wake up hundreds of years in the future to finish their life. People could use it to save their village overnight, it's like in sci-fi films were most of a ship's crew is in cryosleep until they reach a destination. In this case, it would be when the player count begins to rise again, wake up and repopulate the dormant village.

I don't think it needs to be too complicated.

Temperature seems like the most sensible simple metric that captures a lot of other factors.

The other thing that was mentioned briefly was length of family line so far.

I will think about "distance from a male."  Every village keeping at least one male around....

Though this doesn't help with Eve so much, and also flies in the face of a decision that I made years ago for good reasons.  This should NOT be a game about mating and consent and all that nonsense---if you don't want to have a baby and some griefer male keeps following you around anyway, and then you have a baby against your will, what just happened?  All that emotional baggage from the real world.  That is not the point of this game, and it would distract from the 10,000-ft view of the human situation that I'm trying to construct here.  I don't want to spawn Even and Adam together and then have Adam chasing Eve around while spam-chatting, "Come closer, honey."

Well, We do get babies popping out of us against our will already. In all seriousness though, Males are kind of left out and generally considered useless by most people.

#320 Re: Main Forum » Is it a crime to kill males ? » 2018-04-18 14:08:24

Kind of curious as to how many boys have been left to die in total.

#321 Re: Main Forum » This bothers me » 2018-04-17 15:02:36

I like to think of it like this. Imagine a bustling city, then imagine all its residents dying out. The city becomes a ghost town and eventually, nature retakes it.
But yeah, It sucks that player built cities eventually get deleted. It's just all the sadder when you witness a civ dying.

It is still possible to have huge cities around, I was born on an eve today and we set up a nice little village. I was actually reborn there several times and it eventually grew into a fully developed city. It was going for many hours, it still is I think. They will die out eventually of course but it was nice to know that we can still make it to that stage even with the new changes.

#322 Re: Main Forum » Cranky Uncle, if you're out there... » 2018-04-17 02:35:08

Sounds like a good civ, let's hope future generations do well. I had a similar civ, I actually spent multiple lives in it tho. First few generations were good, everyone was working hard and things were getting done. Then after being in that spot for 3 generations, people got too comfortable, the old generation held it together but we old people died out. After seeing the beginning and the golden years of my village, I got to see it's end too.

More kids started to become like Eric, farm got neglected and food started to run out. Previous gens had stockpiled huge amounts of food so despite me warning people about the farm, people just told me "We have tons of food, no point farming". So the Eric kids survived by eating all the stockpiled food then they had kids.

Most of these new kids died or suicided, before I died of old age I told them. "You should have listened to me, fuck you all".

Seems like a lot of civs suffer from each generation becoming less and less useful then the last.

#323 Re: Main Forum » Is it a crime to kill males ? » 2018-04-16 10:42:39

I don't think civs should ban them outright, I can understand killing boys if you already have tons and no girls. But it pisses me to no end when I'm repeatedly killed for no reason other than being a boy, especially when the said village has a huge surplus of supplies anyway.

It's gotten so bad that even the male babies are suiciding because they think being a boy is useless. When boys are kept they are basically second class citizens, they are expected to be working at all times to serve, spending their entire lives catering to the wishes of there female overlords.
So we're just expendable workers, enslaved for a lifetime and can be killed on a whim.

But women become royalty, they are told how valuable and special they are from birth, they are told not to worry about having boys. They can play god by choosing who gets to live and die. They can sentence there sons to a lifetime of thankless labor from birth. It is now becoming socially acceptable within the game to murder any male with impunity.

Nobody in this society will bat an eye if a male is killed, they aren't that important anyway right. So no, according to the majoraity of people killing males is not a crime, hundreds are killed every single day.

#324 Re: Main Forum » Armed citizens? » 2018-04-15 12:02:27

I'd like being able to fight back while wounded, like your going to die anyway. You would still bleed out anyway but I'd rest easy knowing that I managed to wound my killer.

But it's not to say it's completely useless, It's harder for murderers to stealth kill you. You can at least try to warn the nearest people about the killer.

#325 Re: Main Forum » Mushroom. » 2018-04-15 09:13:50

Maybe one of my lives I might become a drug dealer of sorts, well sorta. Imagine feeding random people mushrooms and making the entire village high.

"Oi, stop taking that shit. We need workers, not useless stoners" -Random old guy that saw us trying shrooms.
