1. Pick all the branches from trees and throw them on the ground nearby even if you don't need them yet so the trees can respawn more branches.
2. Be careful who you trust, especially if they ask you to follow them. Even if they aren't armed they might be leading you to an ambush spot, they probably have a weapon stashed behind a tree.
3. Never wear crowns unless you want to be targeted.
4. If your civ has a steel file, hide it well.
5. Name all your kids, If your an Eve give yourself a last name.
6. Die on an empty tile but if you get shot while naked, die on farmland so they lose the arrow.
What does the monument actually do, Is it just decorative?
For me, I type up a bunch of random letters and see what name the game gives them or I give them generic names.
Occasionally I might name them after a job like a kid named Smith is town blacksmith. Sometimes families have a particular theme for names, for example, one family named everyone after a color. I might name a kid after a deceased relative if I had a memorable relationship with them.
I think it would be very nice if we could zoom out a bit.
So we can see more of our surroundings.Or maybe the view range could change over time:
As kid you see things like they are now, but when you grow up you get a bigger and bigger field of sight.
(as kid you are smaller and some things might block your vision, so when you grow up you get taller and you can see further)
I like your second idea. Maybe it could work like hunger does, Adults in there prime can see a lot but once they start getting older there vision gets smaller again.
Yeah, Check out some of the private servers here https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=689.
So literally any player that I have never had any interaction with can completely end my current game, along with any progress that I had previously made (even if I am no longer progressing in that "village" due to character death). Yea... That's pretty crappy. Not at all what I paid for.
I have never once asked for a refund for a game that turned out to be something other than what I expected. This isn't the same scenario though. This game WAS what I expected. Then a random change has the potential of completely invalidating every single second I have played... Poor form...
That said, I am not asking for a refund. The powers that be should really start just offering them if they are going to make such drastic changes without talking to their investors. And investors are EXACTLY what each and every one of us that paid for this game are. We give money to the "company" and expect a benefit in return (enjoyment). That literally every decision or move I, or any others, have made in the game can be invalidated by ANYONE is just asinine.
Yes, I know that no refunds will ever be given. This is the modern day. These things just don't happen. But instead of just taking investor money and then metaphorically telling them to "shove off" maybe you should speak to your investors. A Happy playerbase is a growing playerbase. And from what I have seen in game (and on forum, on YouTube, on Facebook, etc.) the overall consensus that I can see is that people are no longer happy. And why would they be when they see what amounts to a griefer successfully undoing the progress of the players ENTIRE time in game.
It's been turned off now.
The reason why people are saying not to seed carrots is that farming was made harder. We now need worms in order to make compost, worms are a finite resource. We don't let carrots seed because we are trying to preserve soil for long as we can, we are now using wild carrots to get seeds.
Expect a lot more wild eves and low tech settlements then we had before, There is still an advanced civ every now and then but less of them. Once a family line dies out future eves will not spawn anywhere near that civ, plus they get wiped if abandoned for more then 24 hours.
So yeah, a lot less advanced civs but they still happen. The eve's descendants just have to continue surviving long enough to make progress.
Look, I think it goes both ways. For me Eves suck either way, either I'm born to the Eve they abandon me or I'm an eve and I'll my babies suicide.
I know that some do it to be reborn as girls and some to respawn in a specific village. I've had a village die because my only girl decided to suicide.
If I'm an eve most of the babies understandably suicide probably try to be spawned in a village. Would it break the game if we could choose a preference Like if someone wanted to play an Eve they could choose that option and the game would spawn them as an eve instead?
If you are born in a large city that strikes me as a chance to work on "culture". My proudest game was when I was the last female of town and me and my son had built a temple to honor our doomed family. Anyone can make an axe or bake a pie. But to leave a beautiful and elborate building for others to come marvel over is very fulfilling.
Sure but then what?. Assuming that you left a future generation, they would probably have used it to facilitate indoor piemaking as well as storage of excess junk. Possibly a nursery to raise dozens of kids so they can continue to make pies and farm carrots. You could argue that anyone can build stuff too.
Besides most cities already had stuff built anyway, now your people can do the exact same you've been doing for centuries but now indoors. PLus you've said it yourself, you only do "culture" when you have nothing else left to do, must have been pretty low on the priorities if it's the very last thing you'll do.
Why would he bother with steam, They would take most of his profits.

I'd be born into a large city, My mother would give me a brief tour of the city. They had wooden floors and bearskins rugs everywhere, several huge farms, 10+ carts of extra food, a big pie factory, several of all the steel tools and everyone was fully clothed. You couldn't contribute anything that wasn't already done a thousand times, just work the farm and make pies.
Yes, that is impressive that players built it but let's be real, that city would have been on and off for weeks. Eves would find by spawning near it or a road leading to it. They would find tons of supplies and everything already made for them, So they would have kids and so on. That Eves family would have the city for a few generations maybe a lot. Then maybe people would start getting off or leaving the city or just someone got bored and murdered everyone. So the cycle repeats itself.
Once that city has exhausted the tech tree they have nothing to do but make food forever. Dying out didn't matter because the next eve would just come in a few hours. They aren't building anything new, The city has already done everything many generations ago.
You might die a lot more after the apocalypse but it's not to say that they aren't any advanced civs, just not to the extent of the old world. Your civ just has to keep there lineage going so the future generations can climb the tech tree but once your family line dies out, It's unlikely anyone else will find it. Sure, It sucks to lose everything but civs die, that's life.
Amen, I still think decay would've been cooler. I have been in big boring places and tried to make it interesting by spamming babies to starve it out or by trying to start blood feuds <3
I saw someone do that, We had 2 families. Don't remember the names. Long story short our grandmother told us that the city was our rightful land and that the other family had invaded our lands. So a bunch of my family grabbed weapons and slaughters the other family, they sparred one guy as a punishment. He would live on but his family line would die with him.
Just an idea, not sure if it'd actually work. What if Adams got paired up with an Eve like they would be spawned next to each other if possible. I mean it could work with or without reproduction, either way, the eve might get some help rather than having to do all the work by herself and raise kids.
Idk, just a thought.

Yeah that too, The men would just try to mate with every woman in sight. They will just overload all the women with kids.
Just imagine the inbreeding.
Here's a little trick I use when I'm an eve with kids. If you put a baby on the edge of a desert biome, they will stay pretty close to perfect temperature. They will starve slower and you won't need a fire.
Already, damn.
Brother! I am the pedophile looking guy! XD The other brother found your post on this forum so I quickly made an account XD WE HAVE FOUND YOU!
Nice, What happened to you guys after I died, Did you make it to another civ or you did succumb to the same fate as me?
I was originally born in a pretty standard village, I was named Silver. I did some farming, made some clothing, crafted baskets and even dug a well. It was normal until our mother died of Old Age, I quickly realized that our Mother hadn't had a daughter (She did but they died). Only me, 2 brothers and a nephew remained. Not a single women in sight.
So then one of my brothers decided that we should load up our carts and travel, hopefully, find a new village. It started out with all four of us but our group had no clear direction, our nephew got separated from the from the main group. We briefly found another village however they didn't have any women either, For a second we regrouped with our nephew and another guy named Jon.
At some point, we also decided to only travel straight south so people wouldn't go off in random directions and lose the group. Unfortunately, We lost Jon and our Nephew once again. It was rather chaotic with many people running around with carts, I don't think any of us were used to traveling in big groups.
Luckily us 3 brothers managed to stick together, I briefly lost them because I had to dodge rattlesnakes but I quickly found them. At this point I had been slowly getting older, I was getting weaker and weaker. I felt like I was becoming a liability because I had to stop more often to eat.
We decided to make a longer stop as I was a very tired old man. We tried to exchange contact details but I died of old age.
If any of my fellow group members see this post, I hope you guys continued the journey.
Still, sounds like it would have taken him a fair amount of time to do all that. Did anyone in your village try to stop him?
Is the apocalypse going to work like the "big red button" that's been talked about?
I mean sometimes I don't hate or love my mother. Most of the time they raise me until I have hair and I never see them again, Maybe they put me by a fire and some other random women look after me. To them, I'm just another one of the many kids, nothing special.
As a mother, I try not to get too attached to my kids. I'll do what I can to keep them alive but often once they get older seldom make it to adulthood. It is really sad that so many of my kids die right next to the farm, even with a carrot in their hand.
I can't help but feel proud of the few ones that do survive tho.
Just play on an empty server.
We should try and build some roads to connect everything together.
