breezeknight all curses you have ever gotten are saved and will not vanish.
that is the lifetime curse score. I dont know exactly what it does but it influences the time you spend in dt.
So maybe you never were in dt, but if you go for the first time it might be already 3 hours or more, because you collected many curses from previous lives combined.
The more you play the more curses you will collect.
This is especially bad for streamers.
@breezeknight there is also life time curse score that will not get smaller
The amount of time served in Donkey Town is a fixed rate, based on your lifetime curse score (The total amount of curses ever received) as seen in the table below. Repeat offenders who keep bothering people as a way of life, will eventually serve 5 hours every time they go to donkey town. A brand new player who tries something once will spend only a half hour in Donkey Town.
@futurebird i dont know what the threshold is
Every time you get a curse, this curse will stay forever in your life time curse score.
Read more here: https://onehouronelife.gamepedia.com/Curse#Curse_Score
This means that you might get punished for every curse you have ever gotten.
Sometimes random people curse for random reasons. Or griefers curse you.
So the more you play the more this system punishes you.
The life time curse score should decay over time.
(i am not a griefer, i never went to dt, but i still think this system sucks)
There is now a windows binary, you can download it here https://github.com/hetuw/OneLife/releases/
Thanks to Uncle Gus and Chard for helping me compile and Awbz for trying out the exectueable

Update:
The mod doesnt do any updates. In order to update the mod download a new version and replace it with the old.
You have to check on your own if there is a new version available, older version might become bugged over time and dont contain new updates from jason or me.
Additionally use the vanilla client to update the data, just start it once so it downloads it.

teach babies your language
But I think the mother would know she is pregnant after 10 seconds, to be more realistic and to help her planning better. For example, you won’t go to a iron mission if you’re pregnant. Most of /die babies do it in less than 10 seconds..
I think 30 seconds is enough and it's good that it reduces the baby time a little. The mom should know she is pregnant (get a bump) in the last 15 seconds.
I agree, 45 seconds is maybe a bit too long, and it would be nice if the mother would get a bump after 10-15 seconds so she can prepare herself for the baby.
- Let new players watch their mothers for 45 seconds (9 months) before being born
- They see everything their mother sees
- The Mother doesn't know she is pregnant
- If the baby dies during this time it will have no effects on the mother
- If the baby dies during this time the mother will never know she was pregnant
- There could be a message / indicator that tells the new player he has to wait until he is born
- The 45 seconds already count to the first year of the new player
That people use /die and run away as baby is just a symptom, not the issue itself.
Some people want to have more control over where they are born, but the only option they have is suicide.
Let people choose if they want to be born to a random family, play as eve or be reborn into a family that burrowed them.
.... Then he shooted me with a bow and arrow and told people “He is eating pies even after I told him to stop”.
If I had avoided the arrow, I would totally really grief that town like you did....
So he was right, you were a griefer, good that he shoot you, he saved his village from a griefer.
So if you want to grief a town, just go around call people griefers and curse them until they grief the town for you, its genius.
@Elsayal if you have a problem with one person, than just pick up a weapon and kill him/her.
I think we need stacking AND storage tech.
Yes, for example if there is a lot of wheat lying around, i want to be able to make a bigger pile,
Lets say up to 5 wheat. And then later i want to be able to craft a barrel which can store up to 20 wheat.
do i see it correctly that the new clothing is not usable as clothing until it's dyed in color ?
so we won't be able to have naturally colored clothes ?
also where is white clothes ?
- - -
idk what you mean
i just played and was able to create a white hat, out of wool.
i gave it to a woman and she put it on.
i saw a lot of people with the new white clothes
What about instead of a magic hat or elder stone, you add new industrial machines that can easily make walls? And better sources of limited resources like rocks, limestone, and clay.
I'd much prefer a tech answer than a magic answer that would radically change the game.
Imagine you could just pick a skewer and draw dirt lines into the ground.
Similar if you take a stick irl and make a dirt line.
These lines should not last long, maybe 3 hours, shorter when people step over them.
And it should only be possible in certain biomes, not in the stone biomes.
But basically the ground is the canvas and with a skewer you can draw on it whatever you want.
The skewer should break after a while of drawing.
You created a game which let people live in societies that share nearly everything.
People try to work together as good as they can to improve their village. (except for griefers)
This is awesome. You created a very unique game.
Focus on the strengths of this game, don't try to make it something which it doesn't want to be.
The question is less "why don't we actively trade?" but more "why do you think life would be better if we wasted time actively trading?
Yes i agree.
In the perfect world everyone does what is best for everyone. No need to buy or sell things.
You get stuff for free and give stuff away for free.
Help me water all these carrots, and I'll keep you and your kid fed.... where's that even, in the game?
You feed the kid without condition, because you want to keep the town alive.
You water the carrots so your people can have carrots, no need to get something for it.
No problem, i am glad you people like it.
Question, do my 39 Eve lives skew my male to female ratio here?
Yes, born as male or female always count at the moment. No matter if you live less than 3 minutes.
If jason adds the bury return mechanic.
Villages could probably survive longer, but at the same time they need more iron to bury people. (shovel uses)
Iron runs out -> encourages trading.
Also people who can get back to a village, might remember the position of other villages near by.
But villages need to spawn closer in order for this to work.
What if the tombstone is what allows them to come back? This can easily be added and removed so a griefer cannot permanently force it one way or another.
Griefers could take away all the tombstones and hide them somewhere, also what if griefing partners burry themselves far away. But how do they even burry each other? If there are 2 griefers, one could burry another one but they cant burry both.
This is exploitable by griefing partners (who bury each other)...
The nice thing about the curse system is that it requires some consensus before it actually affects someone, making it very hard for a griefer to exploit in either direction (the number of truly innocent people who ended up in Donkeytown is pretty much 0, except for streamers like Twisted who have been targeted).
Curses could also play a role in the reborn process. You can only get reborn if you dont have X amount of curses that come from your lineage.
This would even protect streamers, because the curses have to come from your lineage.
Obviously, it would take time to do, but the dead player is probably already hitting the "get reborn" button. Seems like this would encourage chain-suicide, while they eagerly wait for burial and try to return to their family.
It could be so that you have to wait X minutes + the minutes until you would reach old age, for example:
- If you die at the age of 52, you need to wait 8 minutes + 5 minutes = 13 minutes until you can get reborn into your lineage again.
- If you die at the age of 60, you can get reborn in 5 minutes again.
- If you die at the age of 30, you need to wait 30 minutes + 5 minutes = 35 minutes until you can get reborn into your lineage again.
(real life time, not in game time, you dont need to play to spend this time)
The exact details of this idea can be changed. Maybe the minimum time you need to wait should be longer than 5 min or maybe shorter.
Update about the burial idea:
- If someone buries you, you can get reborn to that lineage.
- There will be an option on the start screen "get reborn to X lineage" as long as the lineage is alive and your last dead body got buried.
- You can also choose to get born into a random lineage instead (how it works now)
- If you die at the age of 52, you need to wait 8 minutes + 5 minutes = 13 minutes until you can get reborn into your lineage again.
Maybe you should only be able to respawn to one lineage at a time.
Maybe the minimum time you need to wait should be longer than 5 min or maybe shorter.
