#356 Re: Main Forum » Anyone else hate this new tool update? » 2019-11-01 17:07:32

I have been more co-operational, I watch what others do and try to help them.  I try teaching more often.

Before the Update, I only did Solo Grinds of what the town needed the most. But most of the staff I did were the least interesting grinding staff that none wanted to do.
Now I find myself taking part in a Greater viraty of things and more interesting than just the grindy ones I did and It feels better cause I know people recognize my help more now.

I changed philosophy from What My town needs , to What my town and Others need.

Went off nomading the other day and had two babies /die themselves when born when they saw I wasn't in a village. Why the hell can babies suicide anyways? It should auto-curse the baby from the mother when they /die prior to a certain age, especially since you can't even seem to curse babies in any way if they suicide before you can name them. Wasn't able to curse a baby I had named after they died either

I think, curse my Baby, works

The current Gene Score suffers from one thing. The tragedy of commons.

In reality, our efforts don't really matter cause the only way to reach 60 and stay at 60 is the whole community to live to 60 ... High ranking Chess players don't go from masters to average and masters again. they reach the top and stay there till they age.

For any of us that reached the top 5%, it wasn't because of him but because he happened to be at the margin of error that enough pro players were born to him.

think of the last /die player in a game that all Live to 60 and none /dies.
What would be his score closer to? Whatever he does all his BB will give him the score he needs.

#366 Re: Main Forum » If genetic fitness actually matters, is life limit still necessary? » 2019-10-30 20:23:51

First of all, Elo is for zero-sum games. BB survival is not a zero-sum game you don win or lose to your BB

Yes, the difference between the ratings of the winner and loser determines the total number of points gained or lost after a game.

BUT Your opponent is not the BB, your opponents are the previous mothers of that BB.  You don't win against the BB you win against his other mothers.

#367 Re: Main Forum » If genetic fitness actually matters, is life limit still necessary? » 2019-10-30 19:32:37

"How much your score jumps after an offspring dies in OHOL depends on how surprising the result is."

So we have the player A that constantly dies at 60 no matter what his mother is, gets born to a player B that his bbs on average die at 20.
What is the unexpected event The player A die at 60 again or at 20?
Player A dies at 20 is the unexpected event cause he is supposed to die at 60 no matter what his mother is.

When you count Ranking you have to consider the Ranking of the opponent, The ranking of player A is 60 and he died at 20 with this mother so something has to be gone wrong. but the player B with the current system goes unaffected by this unexpected event.

Score gain has to calculate the Average age of death of the bb to see if this mother has a positive or a negative influence.
Score gain= Age of death of kid - the Average age of death of the kid.

------------the opposite example:----------
we have the player A that constantly dies at 20 no matter what his mother is, gets born to a player B that his bbs on average die at 50.
What is the unexpected event The player A die at 20 again or at 50?
Player A dies at 50 is the unexpected event cause he is supposed to die at 20 no matter what his mother is.

When you count Ranking you have to consider the Ranking of the opponent, The ranking of player A is 20 and he died at 50 with this mother so something has to be gone Right. But the player B with the current system goes unaffected by this unexpected event.

I have explored the map for 3 female lives...the only Oil I found is exhausted.

I didn't look at your cords I followed 3 separate maps that I found. All spots were dead.
I erased the maps afterward so people don't check the same spots.

Is there Any oil left?

#370 Re: Main Forum » Donkeytown mechanics » 2019-10-30 11:02:19

Maybe first Curse and later kill him. Cursing someone at a mass is greater damage than killing him.

If he gets cursed 4 times he goes to DK, If you kill him he goes to the next village.

And if are there people among us that tried to co-operate please tell us your experience and what did slower your co-operation.

For me, the letter limit made it harder to communicate. I was young.

We are not used to co-operation in this game.
we never had to the solo was better than the co-op.

I was a smith helping an engineer to do an engine.
one guy came and asked for a shovel...We were dying and Shovel wasnt need it. A lot of Iron but No Water, No food, and only 1 kindling.

The Engineer knew that the shovel wasnt need it and told him No.
I said to the man Bring me kindling. He showed me that he had no slot left for axe/hatchet. So I told him to bring me branches.
He run happily with a horse and brought us like 10 branches. I made him his shovel and a bunch of coal for my engineer.

This town was dying and this clueless man helped it survive.

We have to change mindset and see the others that ask for something, not an annoyance but as helpers.
If they ask something , think of What do you need and tell them to do it in exchange for what they ask.
