#351 Re: Main Forum » Did the huge [Starr] city just collapse? » 2019-02-03 18:04:59

yeah I figured all those bells would save it.

That was so damn distressing, if i was born like 10 minutes later or hadn't been so focused on my job i could have saved it relatively easily.

But, I spent my twilight years like Jeremiah, and it ended the same way.

It's frustrating because people were clearly messing around with planes, they wanted a bunch of wool so they must have been using a loom, and it was so hard to get anyone to care about planting wheat.

I wish my contribution would have been enough, you know, I was just keeping a supply of manure and running mutton to the kitchen. I didn't think it too much to ask that someone else bake and deal with wheat, especially when i kept telling people the town was about to hit a food crisis.

on the bright side, being right is worth something. Of the 30 or so people there I appear to have been the only one who noticed catastrophic food failure was coming and made any effort to prevent it.

#352 Re: Main Forum » Friday causes of death » 2019-02-03 00:23:10

does sudden infant death count as disconnected?

#353 Re: Main Forum » Update v195: Temperature of Desert Buffed, (Jungles still op) » 2019-02-02 22:28:55

oh, do you hit the dough on the rock 4 times and it produces a new tortilla each time?

For sure the one time I did it I got a single burrito.

And I do mostly make meat pies, and bread. I end up doing quite a lot of baking because no one else is doing it.

#354 Re: Main Forum » Update v195: Temperature of Desert Buffed, (Jungles still op) » 2019-02-02 21:53:00

doesn't it take a whole wheat to make a single burrito or am misunderstanding how it works? Cause my understanding is that you can use the same beans for multiple, but it's still one wheat per tortilla.

I mean, I suppose potentially one has wheat to waste in some situations.

I spent my game as a man taking care of the sheep, doing my best to keep people making pies etc.

Near the end, i realized wheat was extremely short, and soil was almost gone, did my best to convince people  to plant wheat, but almost all the soil got used on berries, I think compost was out, and about half the berries needed soil. There was a single living wheat and a single just watered. No other soil, out of pies but baskets of mutton.

I reckon the city was within 10 minutes of catastrophic food failure, and it probably had 30 people around.

I did sound the alarm about wheat, and got some people interested, but I don't know that it was even possible to get the compost and pies going again before starvation set in.

[btw this is the huge city with all the small apocalypse tower bases and the "Writing Center" sign etc, i thin the settlment far predated the Starr family.]

Edit: one old man died somewhat recently, havn't seen any younger deaths in over 40 minutes, so it doesn't look good.

the crude cars and planes keep making think of this guy,

"It can run 1000 hectares on a single liter of kerosene"
"What country was this made in?"
"It doesn't exist anymore"

#357 Re: Main Forum » What do babies want from me? » 2019-02-02 20:17:33

the airplanes basically being teleporters I think can do a great deal to help with this problem.

Also, it's one of my favorite premises in the game so far- that you can land in a stone age village in your crude airplane and be stranded the rest of your life.

#358 Re: Main Forum » To report an extremely terrible griefer on the biggest server » 2019-02-02 19:01:23

yeah like no one ever captured a bear in real life and then had it get loose and rampage.

dancing.bear.117v.jpg

Also i had someone draw three bears to a village recently, it was nuts. And we didnt happen to have arrows handy or the milkweed to make them. It was crazy. amusing though

#359 Re: Main Forum » Freaking Planes » 2019-02-02 08:00:10

i ran away from the Stone town today because it seemed like a creepy apocalypse cult, but none of my BBs were willing to live at a new colony or anything sad

#360 Re: Main Forum » Feed your babies! » 2019-02-02 07:56:27

seriously what is with the name obsession?

it's really not a big deal.

I do name all of my kids, though sometimes it takes a sec cause I'm actually doing things

#361 Re: Main Forum » What do babies want from me? » 2019-02-02 07:53:00

why are you all so obsessed with names?

You can search your character by your email address on the lineage server.

I mean, i always name kids, but why is it such a huge deal to people?

Also, i've said this like, a billion times, but there is no inherent reason any of these dynasties have to die, I'm pretty damn confident if people just actually played these games civilization would spread out and long term survive and it would just be a matter of if you were a farm family or city family etc. Because the reason family lines can't spread is that all the babies suicide if they see anyone opening up new land.

#362 Re: Main Forum » Freaking Planes » 2019-02-02 00:01:31

yeah I didn't realize that either, I was wondering with how vast the map was how people were actually finding stuff in their planes.

#363 Re: Main Forum » What do babies want from me? » 2019-02-01 22:17:11

I don't understand how any of these dynasties are ever successful, because no one will stay with me when i'm in the wild at all.

Do you thin people tolerate primitive situations if the mom is an eve? This is why family lines die out, cause they never spread. So the people hitting /die any time they're not in a perfect situation is part of why lines die. And also presumably there are more Eves than there should be, because the feature is so heavily used.

in my last game the Stone family was a weird apocalypse cult, so i ran off cause i expected bad stuff to go down (apparently it didnt) and all of my babies suicided sad

and it does cost the mother something, then game often only has like 150 players at a time, it's not like there's an infinite amount of babies to be born.

A ton of my babies suicide, regardless of the situation. I get when i'm in the woods and they want to be in a civ, but also, I'm often from a civ and i'm just gathering.

Are they trying to get back to specific families?

Or trying to become Eves? cause that's kind of a dick move, getting a lineage ban everywhere to become Eve. It dilutes the ability of all of the other families to get big and then none of us who play the game we get are ever made Eve.

So, for anyone who regularly uses the /die feature....when and why?

I really can understand the wanting to be in a civ, but so much of the time i'm from a civ and they get the lineage ban before they'd even know that.

#365 Re: Main Forum » Freaking Planes » 2019-02-01 20:56:14

the idea has always been that the game will have a huge tech tree which takes a long time. It is the nature of things that only a specialized part of the players will now extremely advanced things.

Granted, I was gone for several months, but i'm jut now really starting the journey up the tech tree. Part of this is because griefing was so bad before I left i mostly hid out from civilizations. But i've played a ton and still don't really smith [know what to do in theory] or or do carpentry [I'm just not that interested in making buildings]. I'm great at the aspects of food production, and end up doing a lot of the crucial things that keep civs alive.

I guess my point here is : I want there to be planes but don't currently have the desire to learn such advanced tech.

#366 Re: Main Forum » Update v195: Temperature of Desert Buffed, (Jungles still op) » 2019-02-01 19:49:59

i love all the work people put in to analyzing data etc about this game.

At the same time, it's pretty damn easy to produce a surplus. Certainly, you don't want to hang out in tundra and shit, but there is no reason to be too obsessed with food efficiency. Though of course some things, like the damn burritos, are absolutely not worth making (seriously, one wheat needs to make 4 tortillas)

I wonder how many experienced players die because they wait to the very last minute to eat to save food.

When once again, If you have 5 people involved in food production you can easily feed like 15-20 players.

#367 Re: Bug Discussion » Bugged Family Trees » 2019-02-01 19:17:24

it's way messed up, you can see to look at of the lineage that every one is messed up. Nothing to understand, it's just been broken since update.

I was there too and tried to feed the calf as well and the same thing happened. It never separated, just disappeared.

The bison was already there in a berry corner pen so I wasn't going to mess with the sheep pen to break it out since that would only release all the sheep and then there'd be fun!(tm)

I just gave up. Something is weird lately and I can't put my finger on it. Animations aren't completing to the final form, like with rabbits finally keeling over. Only when you finally give up and interact does the rabbit finally show that it's dead. This is happening on the bigservers as well as sparsely populated servers and it wasn't happening before this current update.

LMAO, someone did accidentally open the pen when i was there, spent the rest of the game trying to kill the other sheep etc.

But yeah, i was for sure there long enough, i watched the calf show up and disappear over and over again. And someone besides me did set it there.

i'm just a guy who wants to put butter on bread.

How do you draw bears? I couldn't figure out if there was a way someone did it intentionally

oh and i was the old lady in the main gooseberry patch frantically trying to make sure the food would keep coming in without dying

edit: i never looked up how bears worked before, people could definitely intentionally draw them and we for sure had mutton to feed them.

I wish lineage server was working properly. Three bears just convened upon the Speed family when we didn't have a bow and arrow or the milkweed to make it.  I don' know if city will even survive, and it must have had 15-20 people. Fortunately, before I die the gooseberries started respawning.

Hard to accomplish anything with THREE bears rampaging through a camp at once.

Was anyone else there for that? Must have just been extraordinarily bad luck.

I was in a civ where someone had just brought in and fed a bison. It continued to periodically show a calf next to it, but I couldn't feed it a bowl with corn kernals...and it never separated from the mom in any way.

I made sure the pen wasn't too full.

So what else am I missing? It doesn't appear to be the case that i need to kill its mom.

#373 Re: Main Forum » Marrige » 2019-01-30 20:15:00

I was thinking about this the other day. One advantage would be if it increased fertility, so that villages could plan who was producing the most children. Which they already kind of can. You could make it so it needed to be second cousins, so it requires a more stable civilization before you were able to prioritize in this way.

of course once you throw the father in the family line, instead of just the mother, everyone gets real related real fast and would be related to you in two ways.

I think unless you made it so the father didn't impact the lineage, making the lineage reasonable at all with fathers included would be far more difficult than it is worth.

Does the person who uses the baby name Precious use the forums? I've seen it a bunch

#375 Re: Main Forum » Serious problems on bigserver1, server 1 » 2019-01-29 17:56:50

it was frustrating not having family trees before they were implemented...now that I know what I'm missing it's nearly unbearable!
