i don't think it's over, but i do find myself enjoying the game less and less every time i log in. the honeymoon period of discovering new stuff and learning is wearing off and being replaced with "oh, another griefer? and no one is listening to me warning them about the person shooting everyone above us? sure ok."

i feel like we need an official PVP server and a Zen server or something. if someone gets enough reports from harassing people in a Zen server they can be banned from it, only allowed on PVP where anything goes. i know theres unofficial servers much like this right now, but it would be good for new / casual players, in my opinion.

Yeah, It's because Jason has been away. The plan was for him to add new content every week. I think one of the reasons behind this griefer surge is boredom. Without anything new being added to the game, civilizations that survive will quickly make everything that can be made. Because these civilizations have nowhere to advance to, people got bored and decided to just kill everyone.

I understand how you feel, It's either get murdered or work in the same village doing the same things over and over.

Sure, they can be killed as easily as we can...as far as vulnerability goes. But that doesn't mean it isn't extremely difficult to do.

People can die off the screen from a bow, and someone can just take a knife, casually walk up to you and kill you with a knife with no animation or indication they are about to stab you. So as a regular player, you can't tell who is killing people and who isn't to be able to defend yourself in the first place. Or do you kill every person in sight that walks by with a loaded bow or knife when they might be just passing by to go hunt? Would the average player happen to have a loaded bow or knife in hand the first place?(no, working people don't. That's why everyone dies)

Furthermore; it doesn't help at all that players die completely silently from weapon kills when realistically they should scream(like come on, you can hear babies crying from off-screen). Too many people die silently before anyone notices whats happening. They can't warn anyone else to flee.

There needs to be more indication and measures in place to tell when you are about to be attacked and defenses against it. Right now, the advantage of one murderer with a weapon is pretty ridiculous, and societies aren't going to progress at this rate as long as this continues.

Yeah, Trolls have it pretty easy. It's why there's so many. When they have the element of surprise, we're pretty fucked. I guess the best strategy, for now, is stay in groups.  Griefers can easily pick off people who are on there own but if they try to attack someone in a group they will get noticed. Like if someone stabs me in the middle of a busy carrot field, everyone will notice the guy with the bloody knife or the one holding the bow.

I got another slightly more positive one.

I was born in a small village, The village had a pretty basic setup. Just a farm, an oven, and a klin. They had a person making pies and everyone else farming. There was also another farm nearby but only a hermit lived there. Every now and then we could make him some pies and he would bring us various things that he scavenged from the wilderness. I still don't why he wanted to live on his own but seemed to pay off for him.

I decided to set up some smithing for this village as I wasn't really needed for much else. I had to set everything from scratch and by myself. As I was busy gathering everything needed for smithing I didn't notice the lack of new kids. We had a young girl but disappeared under mysterious circumstances. All the remaining people slowly got old and died, My mother said her goodbyes and gave me her clothes. I went to talk to the hermit, He was the only other person still alive. He was now an old man, I told him that was the last villager.

I decided I'd try to set the place up for any potential eves in the future. I made a couple steel tools and stockpiled food, Hopefully, someone would one day make use of that stuff. I went to check up on the Hermit but he had finally passed, I moved his stuff down to my village. I was now in my late 50s, I decided to enjoy a brief retirement. I took one last look at my camp, It had lots of food, Steel tools, extra seeds, and spare firewood. This would do very nicely for a future prospector.

I sat by the fire and I looked down at my hunger meter, shit I only had 1 bar left. I grabbed a carrot out of my pack, raised it towards my mouth and died of starvation at 59.

Everyone still died but at least someone else might have a chance.

#379 Re: Main Forum » Blonde bitch with bow » 2018-03-25 13:22:59

To me, these people are incredibly sad individuals. They get some sort of self-gratification from destroying other peoples work, They seem to think themselves superior to the people that try to make civs. I don't know if it was the same person devoting his time to griefing every civ on the server but their methods and the way they talk are certainly similar.

I had one guy kill my mother in a civ that just started out, Me and my fellow babies starved and the civ was gone. The guy was gloating over us like he was proud of what he just did. I'll never get the people that dedicate there time to trying to mass murder. It's not impossible to stop griefers, They can be killed just as easily as we can.

I can't tell if this is a Troll, Kid or Idiot.

#381 Re: Main Forum » Cooked mutton guide - high value food » 2018-03-25 09:27:19

I spent a lifetime testing out Mutton. Luckily we already had a sheep farm (A rarity for most places). At first, I had to spend a lot of time maintaining the farm, the sheep were dying so butchering them wouldn't help duh. I found a kid who was willing and able to help me out, She kept the sheep fed and even made some clothes.

Once the farm was up and running we had plenty of sheep. I didn't need to kill that many sheep and once it was going they replenished quickly. It works well as long as you don't kill too many. It was a lot faster and more food then pies. I wouldn't replace pies completely but one can definitely produce Mutton easier and faster then pies.

#382 Re: Main Forum » Blocking bear caves » 2018-03-24 19:14:34

Interesting, In theory, We could farm bears indefinitely. I just wish we could do more with bears, they are such a pain to kill and all we can do is make fancy rugs. Sure the Rugs are good for warmth but It'd be nice to get some meat out of it too.

#383 Re: Main Forum » Too many baby suicide » 2018-03-24 14:00:01

I normally suicide if I'm born to an eve or a dying village. I'd rather not burden people are who are struggling to survive. Some babies might suicide because they are trying to spawn in a specific location.

#384 Re: Main Forum » Potential of the game » 2018-03-23 18:53:36

Yeah, I'm also excited about the more advanced stuff. Just imagine the chaos that will happen when we get guns. We can barely handle people with bows and knives, How about a griefer with a fully automatic rifle?

#385 Re: Main Forum » I'm not having fun playing this game » 2018-03-22 08:55:46

Well, it's a shame this game wasn't quite what you expected. I'm curious, Did you actually try any of custom servers or was that too much "homework" for you.

Oh and it was very nice of Jason to give you a Refund, He doesn't actually have to.

#386 Re: Main Forum » Favorite moments » 2018-03-22 07:30:59

I got one, well it's more of a tragic depressing one rather than favorite. I was born in an impressive village, we had everything we needed. My mother showed me around the place, When I grew hair I worked on the farm and the forge for a bit but I wasn't really needed. Everyone was already doing everything so I felt a bit like the third wheel.

By the time I had grown a beard, I still didn't feel like I'd accomplished anything worthwhile but then I had an idea. There was one thing the city needed, Gold. Surely I'd be remembered if I brought back gold and crafted an impressive crown. I loaded up a cart with, a pickaxe, pies, bowl. I announced that I was going out to look for gold, A few people wished me good luck but they probably didn't expect me to be successful.

For many years I traveled through bear-infested lands, at first I encountered a few smaller villages. One of these villages even allowed me to restock my supplies using their carrot farm. As I traveled I got further from civilization, I started seeing abandoned places then an empty wilderness.

Eventually, I made it to an Ice biome. I would surely find gold here. I searched the icelands for a long time, My food supplies started to dwindle. After a long time, I had finally found a vein, There was a bear nearby was I quickly mined it. I put in my bowl and loaded it into my cart. I then departed before the bear could eat me.  I was now an old man, My beard had gone grey. I began the long journey home. I kept alive on berries and carrots from long-dead villages. I encountered the village that had helped me in the beginning, sadly the ones that I had met had died of old age. 2 Men with bows quickly persuaded me to move on with my journey.

When I finally made it home I was initially overjoyed. I met a lone man, I excitedly told him I had returned with gold. It was then that I noticed the many bones littering our streets and our farm. I asked the man what had happened and he informed me that there was a mass murderer while I was gone. Unfortunately, our forge was blocked by an oven so I was unable to make the crown.

Give it some time, The crafting system takes a bit to figure out but you can probably learn the basics from someone if you ask in game. The controls are just left and right click, You'll get used to it.

If you can, Get a backpack. Fill it up with pies, If you don't have pies then carrots will do. If your sick of having to eat all the time while you're trying to learn the game I would recommend trying some custom servers.

I find it interesting how many so people aren't used the idea of a game that's not on steam. It's also interesting how no one seems to do any research on there own before asking on the discord/forums.

I don't think it will, I'm sorry. Is there a reason why you can't buy stuff from other sites?

Maybe this whole thing is just a big computer simulation designed to make us suffer.

As a woman you con "get stuff done" as well - and if kid pops up, just let the MoFo starve. Not your problem. Let him be reborn to actual mother needeing child.

You don't like letting kids to starve? No my problem. Thats how it was for humans for millenia! And thats how you need to deal with stuff. Don't apply modern compassion rules to stone age or medieval society. If you want to be next saint - go play tetris.

Wow you got quite an attitude.

#393 Re: Main Forum » How to kill a bear? » 2018-03-17 15:13:56

You gotta shoot them with 3 arrows before they go down, I think feeding it mutton might help too.

#394 Re: Main Forum » Relationship mouseover, a really nice addition » 2018-03-17 13:36:01

Very nice feature indeed, It actually helped me stop a would-be griefer.  Everyone in my little village was related to each other so I was naturally suspicious of the strange women who wasn't related to me at all. We noticed this foreigner straight away and the fact that she had a knife in her backpack. I decided to grab the bow and arrow to keep an eye on her in case she tried anything, soon enough she took out the knife and went for the babies. I immediately shot the killer before she could slaughter any of us.

#395 Re: Main Forum » Please Stop Cleaning So Much! - Increase Your Situational Awareness » 2018-03-16 14:25:26

As someone that spends most lifetimes making stuff rather then farming (Unless farming is badly needed) I understand how you feel. I hate it when people mess with my stuff and it means that things take even longer to do. Time that could be spent more productively is instead used locating my missing sharp rock or my misplaced hatchet etc.

Did your grandson manage to put your pants on?

#397 Re: Main Forum » Chill out server » 2018-03-13 09:57:24

It's getting better, human babies have begun to be born. I and the other last bears started work on a settlement. We then started to have human babies. Now as an old bear the town is mostly humans. So hopefully the humans can take back the server.

PS I can tell you put the bear minimum amount of effort into these puns.

#398 Re: Main Forum » Chill out server » 2018-03-13 07:37:26

It was pretty hilarious but it's probably about time to stop with the bears.

#399 Re: Main Forum » Chill out server » 2018-03-13 01:58:23

Right now i'm the only human in an all bear town. Am I the only human on the server?

Edit: I was eaten by an actual bear that wandered into town. I thought that he was one of us but I was mistaken. Thanks Phate for being my Bear mother.
