Which is the state with notes right now. Also their content is too short.

Bulletin boards, engraving into wood boards (like the vikings did), engraving onto stone, all would be nice with a somewhat more complicated process to remove it (like using a pickaxe, a saw or so).

And writing a word on the signs as it is right now is albeit a very cute game mechanic, but setting up a sign is almost a lifes work..

Whats to stop people from using this system to grief? You could hold down a player to starve them or something along those lines. Imagine if a team of griefers came together and just strangled everyone? Never ever trust a triplet spawn...

Because the basic assumption is, the positive forces to still outweight the negatives by a fair amount. Once the destructors woulbe be in the majority  it's over anyway, nothing would and should stop them there.

Well if three come together and just strangle someone.. in the woods? Well it wouldn't be so hard for them to get their hands on a (stolen) weapon anyway. So I don't see a big difference there... In town.. well many people would see them, and again, it wouldn't be soo hard to get their hands on a knife/bow&arrow anyway.

The issue is if a negative minority (or single person) can seriously disrupt a vast majority without them being able to do much about it.

Wouldn't it be simple to just allow you to add +1 berry to your bowl per click with a bowl in hand?

Would technically require 36 recopies as well (berry 1-6 on bush times berries 0-5 in bowl)... so in that regard not be any better than having it fill with all available right away and there is little use for a bowl with 1 to 5 berries anyway, so nobody would likely ever want to to pluck less than all available from a domestic berry bush.

Following issue: recently had a case of a murder rampage griefer that unfortunally went into a little preperation. First they must have stolen all ready available knifes, arrows and the file and hid them somewhere deep in the forest, and destroyed the milkweed farm and created lassos of all available milkweed... then started murder one after the other, without the town being able to do much against it, yes s/he got cursed several times, but nothing to make that particular murder run stop. It was also a fairly old town so all the even semi-near grasslands were already picked clean, so no way to quickly get a rope there also. Soon after I died (of old age! take that griefer) I noticed someone eventually nevertheless managed to kill her. Dunno how. Okay the town could have prepared better for security, fair enough, like leaving the knifes and arrows in the nursery where there is practically constantly someone. We actually had a player with a knife in the backyard, but she killed him first and in the resulting turmoil managed to get hold of it.. Nevertheless:

So suggestion: Could we have it, that several barehanded players could physically overpower another player? First player to right click another adult, makes both of them freeze for say 15 seconds until that player breaks free... and have a (dunno) 60 seconds cool down phase before the player can hold them again. It's supposed the equivalent of grabbing someone by the arm. Rude if without reason, but real no damage down. If a second player right clicks the held player, they become held indefinitely. Useful for interrogations to query an unwilling subject about what happened. Third player right clicking the person and holding them for another say 15 seconds strangles them to death and becomes red handed / killer flagged.

Or..... have more than one combo-possibility to create compost other than berries+carrot+wheat.

Or.... at least have a full berry bush making a full pot from any empty one, however you still fill them one by one for already picked bushes if someone picked already some.

No need to dig it up first. That tends to confuse newer, nice players fearing they might erase someone elses homemarker and make them lost in the wilderness.

#436 Re: Main Forum » The Case For Giant Biomes » 2018-11-28 05:56:10

I'd suggest keeping the normal biome mix for startups but add mega-biomes with some special treat in their center to build a dedicated city/village/output there.

I like the idea, it has to three effects on the same time.

Next to signaling other players the player is in need (may also be due to disconnect) it also gives an additional feedback to the newer player themselves something needs to be done now.

Third effect would be, it would change baby-mother interactions not needing the "F for food" anymore. If this is desirable or a problem, I don't know. It's an effect.

I noticed some sheep in a pen with a dead bush. A few minutes later the sheep were gone. Maybe someone killed or released them or maybe sheep can pass through the dead bush. Not sure.

Since then, if I see a dead bush at a pen I remove it and plant another bush.

Actually I seen newer players forget about the additional blocking tile that needs to be behind the bush. Otherwise the sheep can "jump over it".

Basically animals can walk/jump 1-4 tiles in any direction as long there is no blocker inbetween and the destination is free. This is the way the bush corners work. They can't jump out of it, because of the blocker one way further and can't jump onto it because of the bush.. But sometimes players assume, the bush already blocks them.

As I understood, baby slings are a pretty old request. Anyway, I'd like them as an alternative to a backpack (so either carry a baby or 4 items).

#442 Re: Main Forum » Dead gooseberry bushes » 2018-11-27 19:32:51

Ok I get it's fairly easy for a griever to get it down in this state, because of axe/hatched.

But still, it doesn't despawn right?

#443 Re: Main Forum » Bring Back Bowl + Berry Bush » 2018-11-27 17:32:22

Agree, doesn't have to need to be full bushes. Simply clicking the bowl on the bush puts as many berries in the bowl as possible, either emptying the bush to zero or filling the bowl to max.

#444 Re: Main Forum » Cultures and Trade » 2018-11-27 17:29:20

Singular nomadic life is actually pretty easily possible, biggest issue is a concentration fault to step on a snake or boar (or mosquitoes if you have clothes). Honestly I consider it also pretty boring, this is why I suppose not many do this. It reduces the game basically to a 90s avoid bad stuff and gather coins side scroller...

As a smaller group with some tools (backpacks and even carts) it is theoretically also very possible. Including settling down a short while, while just munching natural food sources to craft a few things and then carry on.

Really organizing this with random co-players I'd consider close to impossible. First players have the meta and mind and will start fire, gooseberry farm etc.  Secondly even if you agree not to go with the meta, you'd have to dedicate jobs on a temporary settlement well (you two go and keep brining food milkweed you find, you go and get rabbits). Thirdly it is very easy to lose each other when moving (very limited field of view of official client and no "homemarker" as the standard reference point  of a settlement to always find the others again)

The wiki is missing info here. Do they despawn? Can you stake them? Or will they sit there forever.

I'm asking for a half made pen I made griever save (had boxes as some walls and two corners a home marker as walking entry). One of the corners had a dead gooseberry bush. So is that safe or a sheep breakout waiting to happen?

Nah, delete this post, it's just ranting and mindless babble on your part.

Actually first even ranting sometimes can be good for yourself and for others joining in and secondly actually I was inspired to make to try to make something positive out of it.

#448 Re: Main Forum » Rant » 2018-11-27 16:21:06

PS: fair enough, I'll delete the reddit suggestion until a fair majority seems to agree on some variation on the topic to consider in more depth, I see different variants that all would accomplish the same thing and yes it does not need to be *everyone* (looking at a certain person).

PPS: At the end it's jason calls what he wants the game to be. I personally just operated under the assumption... better to market to a somewhat wider audience, if it is supposed to be a unforgiving thingy with a steep learning curve at the beginning which gets longer and longer as the game gets more stuff, also fair enough, than this is the way he wants to move his work to cater for a specific niche.

I think a decent solution could be to make people who are very close to starvation visible to other players (for example, if only 2 bars left), so that experienced players can save newer players if needed.

I like this, making their speech bubble gray was also part of my suggestion.

Instead of some additional time on zero without ability to do stuff but taking food (which Psykout seems to really hate) also x more seconds slow movement might be a nice boon for new players.

Well anything that really makes them a hammer on their head they need to do stuff now and yet give them a somewhat reasonable timeframe to do it.

Or turn the whole screen gray of the client gray. Yes that bubble in the lower left and music stopping is easy to miss.
