After viewing Jason's post describing how more and more people are being drawn to this game, it got me thinking, how will this new influx of players shape the game? Populations in servers will rise, meaning that established cities will grow much faster, as well as eves and small tribes, but can they support the growing amount of people? Will these people be useful members of society, or will we be swamped by griefers?
My personal theory is that civilisation will struggle to handle the population boom at first, but players will quickly adapt to this new challenge. Societies will have more hands on deck meaning that farms will be more routinely cared for, leaving the more experienced players time to explore the tech tree and build. However, not all of these players may be content with this, some turning to griefing, maybe even banding together and forming hostile tribes that loot and pillage the peaceful(?) farmers. As civilisation advances and populations grow, a rudimentary form of politics and trade may pop up as players have more hands on their time and settlements become more numerous. Killings may become more common, but the larger number of players means a larger number of people to protect the peace.
Now, this is just my hope for this game, this may not happen at all, but the increasing population count is definitely going to change something, maybe even affecting the course of OHOL forever.
Societies in this game are always at different levels, some barely scraping by on a meagre carrot farm, others feasting on stew and pies. Whats the most advanced one you've been in? Did it have any laws? Any rulers or chain of authority?Did you trade with neighbours?
Except that one person who was waving around a knife and accusing me of stealing, other than that, pretty peaceful

You were abandoned by your mother, so I took you in, my brother and I feed you berries and kept you alive. My mother tried to name you, but she couldn't. I soon after lost contact with you, as you weren't properly named. I hope you lived a good long life in the village

I did not know you for long, as I died soon after I gave birth to you. I named you after a Greek god in the tradition that my mother started. Whether someone took you in, or if you met an ill fate I do not know. But know that I tried to take care of you, even if I could not take care of myself.
Artemis
When I first heard about OHOL, I was fascinated by the concept and gameplay, I was desperate to get it. After watching a few youtube videos on it, my desire only increased, however I have recently heard people saying that the game is too hard/frustrating, buggy, laggy and downright bad. After seeing these things, I am currently more on the fence about this game. Should I get OHOL? Should I wait a little longer for Jason to iron out the kinks and add new features? Or should I just avoid it altogether? The community seems very friendly (aside from the surprisingly small group of trolls) and I really love the concepts and ideas behind the game, but I just want to make sure it is a worthwhile investment.
