Seeds de-spawn after 1 Epoch aka (60 years and or 1 hour), which is also the length of time it takes for the plant to regrow by itself after picking it when its fruiting, unless you are planning on planting them in you're lifetime is there really a point, other than wasting your own time, any milkweed picked while fruiting produces infinite seeds from the debris so if people are planning on making milkweed farms its rather easy. So like you said if its out in nature with no one around, no i guess you aren't harming anyone your just wasting your own time.
They de-spawn in boxes and baskets as well, same timer.
Id be fine with that, but right now having them basically worthless once someone drains it dry, its incredibly taxing. I like the idea of "repairs".
It might be hard at this time to fill up a white-listed server of 120-300 possible players ranging in different time zones to ensure the server continues to progress.
However, if as the community has deemed it, the server falls prey to "nocturnal infertility" (when the player-base dies down at certain hours) and people start over from scratch the next day experienced players should have no trouble finding another suitable area to create a new "city/town" as in real-life.
The world is made up of many different towns/cities connected by means of transportation which if you watch the intro video you know will come to the game at some point in time.
I mean yes you have a point there and that is a great place to begin, white-listed just adds that extra protection so if someone nefarious happens to get the pass, you would still be in the clear. I'm a player, not a programmer so this is more of a pitch to those that might have the same idea as me and havent voiced it.
I'm just wondering if the more experienced populous of this game, most of which are forum users, think that this is something that would be a good idea or not; Or would it seem more of a cop out and that the game was intended to have griefers or people that don't really care about advancement.
If we could get a Vanilla White-listed server for players that know what they are doing and are wanting to make a successful attempt at creating a full blown civilization branching between multiple towns/city-states that would be great.
I have at least 30+ hours in this game, i love it, the mechanics, the idea, and the challenge to replicate "society" as we know it.
However, from the griefers that some of us have the unfortunate luck to give birth too or the people that have little to no knowledge and just dont want to learn, to people that think they have knowledge and end up making the "society" suffer and possibly perish in the end if tasked with something they feel is below them, like farming or composting.
I want this game to succeed and the idea of us as a community coming together and building something that mirrors our own reality seems pretty cool to me.
That is why i feel, that a white-listed server made up of people that want to "complete" this game.
Yes I am a completionist and a min-maxer when it comes to games. Its not work to me lol, i enjoy it.
Let me know what you guys think and Happy Farming.
There are also a number of unofficial servers for new/learning players or just players who want a more relaxed experience once again use that search bar XD
^ That too, so many lamb corpses for the love of god XD
Search the forums please, there are currently 15 official servers, and yes there is a way to join a specific one, the search bar is your friend.
Jason, when making shimmering water for dyes, the bowl used to make shimmering water gets duplicated currently.
Oh and please give us a visual representation of the amount of water in wells, or give the ability to refill.
I like the limiting factors of this game-world.
I want the wells to be fixed or at the very least give us a visible representation of the uses that they have remaining.
Other than that this game is meant to be about sustainability, not ravaging the lands and leaving nothing left.
Ill chime in i wont add numbers to the discussion there is plenty of that above.
Pies should only be used in a society/civilization that is stable and has people dedicated to farming and making sure your carrot supply is always maintained.
Been a part of a few such civs where pies are a great source of food and takes a huge load off of the farmers, freeing them up for other menial task while they continue to keep an ever vigilant eye on the carrot supplies.
The civilization in question we had someone in charge of compost, 2 in charge of farming, the compost was also responsible for the wheat farm as a biproduct of the wheat farm is straw for compost and he was also responsible for watering the berry bushes he used for compost.
It seems that you only really need 3 things for sustainability right now, 1 person who knows how to farm and get both berries and carrots going, 1 person that knows how to compost and re-water the berries. And of course PONDS PONDS PONDS!
Yes, TBH wells are a bust right now, until there is a method to refill from DRY and or keep track of the uses left, there's no point lol. Find a spot with lots of ponds and get to farming lol.
I wholeheartedly agree with you Sheph, I made a suggestion email stating that it would be better if once the milkweed reached its fruiting stage it would not revert back to flowering, thus removing those accidental clicks, where you want to smack yourself, and begrudgingly go get compost and water to replant your crop.
I realize that the back and forth, fruiting/flowering/fruiting/flowering etc is intended because that's how it works in nature, but by god its annoying when you know what your doing and still mess up.
If you use the method above, you have a 2 use buffer as to not dry a shallow well, and a 10 use buffer on the deep well.
There is a simple way around it tbh, build your Well's next to ponds and make sure you take from ponds first then the Well, and never take from the well when the ponds are at 1 use. You are using the well as a measuring device.
Yes you are not using the well to its fullest, however you are basically installing another pond for you to draw water from.
Or you could eat the last one and then water it so it regrows all its berries, then the next person can come along and have a whole bush....... please just pick the berry and water the damn thing.
Game is about furthering the society, not necessarily about you XD
What Twinsen says there are servers available on this forum, where you have double the life and half the food usage, use those servers go off on your own, and make yourself self sustaining and then learn to craft/create the things you dont yet understand, you can self sustain on an unmodded, 1 player with 4 carrot patches btw, leave 2 carrots from one patch to seed.
NEW UPDATE EDIT : Shallow and Deep Wells now refill after being run dry, thanks to the new update. Including what was in the previous post below. Thanks for Update! Love It!
Happy Farming!
Shallow Wells and Deep Wells DO NOT REFILL WHEN EMPTY. They are a finite supply of water.
A Well whether shallow or deep will refill at the same rate as a pond BUT, IF AND ONLY IF YOU DO NOT DRAIN IT TO EMPTY.
There is no current way to track how much water is left in a well therefore if you have no knowledge of how many uses it has or hasn't DO NOT USE IT, once it is dry it is useless, cannot refill itself and cannot be refilled.
USES
Shallow Well has 7 uses.
Deep Well has 14.
Will Update this thread if wells are changed in an upcoming patch.
Happy Farming Civs.
Milkweed has 5 stages.
1. Milkweed Sprout.
2. Milkweed.
3. Flowering Milkweed.
4. Fruiting Milkweed.
5. Milkweed Debris.
6. Milkweed Stump.
The most important stage we are to talk about is FRUITING! Stage 4.
ONLY PICK ON STAGE 4 FRUITING!
When picked on STAGE 4 FRUITING, it will REGROW, no need to plant again, no need to throw seeds all over the place.
PLEASE LEARN THIS AND STOP PUTTING SEEDS EVERYWHERE AROUND A PLANT THAT WILL REGROW ITSELF, IT IS A WEED!\
Sorry for the caps but if I see one more YouTube video where someone picks it at the wrong stage and or scatters the seeds all over after picking it at the proper time I will seppuku! That is all happy farming XD
The sign idea is needed and I love the implementation of it you describe.
also i like the idea of griefing being a very taxing thing therefore 1 player cannot ruin an entire civ in under 2 minutes.
the only idea i differ with you on is millk weed, i like the phases it has atm, however i feel once it reaches the fruiting stage, it should not revert back to flowering, it would prevent accidental picking and having to replant. Most people know now to only harvest while its fruiting. but other than that love the ideas. If you see me in discord voice channel hmu i play with a few others.
Yeah spread the word not to touch the berries on a DOMESTIC unless you are responsible for the job of creating compost, and if you have that job, always re-water the bush after filling your bowl.
Denriguez your missing the point of his post, if you pick a domestic berry bush down to one berry it will not grow any more, period! You must pick it and water to get more berries.
