The life where three other lives were ended by my hand, out from the eight murders that took place during the one hour. Happened about 1½ months ago.
Scroll down for the story.

Story behind the picture:
A baby boy was born in the middle of a murder; his mother wielded a bloodied knife in her hand as a dying woman held her gaping wound. A lot of villagers had gathered around and they all spoke to each other as the other woman was bleeding out. The mother couldn't do anything as she held her weapon, so the crying baby boy's big brother fed his little brother with a rabbit pie. As the mother recovered, she picked up her baby, apologizing to him. She walked around the village with her newborn, naming him Awesome, from the family of Elliff.

As he rested in his mother's arms, she grew old. The old mother stopped to feed her child in the berry fields. Some villagers gathered near her, praising her for ending the life of the other woman. "You are a hero", they said.

Awesome had a peaceful childhood. He witnessed the birth of triplet girls who were welcomed by the village's adults. Awesome helped around the village and noticed a nice shepherd girl, Hanz, being taught by the older shepherd. Shyly, he gifted her a backpack he had found. She thanked him, and he ran off to work.

As a young man, Awesome happily worked on his projects and watched over the village. As his mother passed away, he didn't inherit his mother's knife, but he had found one for himself from someone's remains (really scared an old lady as he pulled the knife out from the remains!).
The village had gone quiet, with less people around than before.

Suddenly he heard a cry near the sheep pen.
A woman stumbled away from the pen, badly wounded. She breathed out, "Curse her for me", and collapsed. Awesome ran to the woman's remains, picking up her knife. There were bows and arrows on the ground. He sprinted towards the sheep pen, noticing all the sheep and the moufflon were dead. There stood two of the triplet girls, now teenagers. They were silent. He zoomed in for the one holding a bloodied knife and drove in his knife without hesitation. The wounded triplet stumbled over to her unarmed triplet sister as she bled; her backpack held two knives and she had dropped one on the ground. Awesome cursed the dying triplet; but now he was helpless, standing above one of the bloody knives. Then, Hanz ran to the scene, but she was unarmed. The wounded triplet sister died, and her sister picked up her knives as Hanz ran away, realizing what was going down. Awesome dragged himself away, but the girl was rushing towards him.
Suddenly, the girl turned and ran to other direction, leaving Awesome to recover. He used the time he got to get to the bakery and ate as he took off to hunt down the girl.

Another cry was heard.
It was Hanz, now bleeding out. She cried, "She killed me". The triplet girl didn't get far when Awesome reached her, swiftly ending her life.
A baby girl waddled to the nearby berry field, starving without her mother. She couldn't eat by herself. Weakened once again, Awesome held the bloody knife, watching helplessly as the baby girl starved and faded away. Was he alone now? Is this the end?

Suddenly two men ran to the scene; Retal, with a crown on his head, and a teenager named Frank. Unarmed, Frank didn't dare to approach Awesome who now held one knife in his backpack and one in his hand, still bloodied. But Retal walked right to him. He had a knife in his backpack. The three were quiet for a moment, but Awesome quickly defended himself; "I killed twin murderers-- do we have any women left?". Standing still, Retal replied he didn't know, and as Awesome recovered, the three scattered to look for other villagers.

Awesome traveled to the southern farms, scanning his environments. Did he kill two girls only to see their end like this?
Suddenly, he saw a small girl walk towards him from the fields. She seemed a bit distraught but still bravely approached the grown man with two knives on him. "Follow me", she requested as Awesome blurted out, "Wait!! You are--" the last girl, she was alive! The girl didn't stop however; she hopped onto the road and ran, with Awesome running after her like a desperate puppy.
Retal saw the girl zoom by him. He turned around and shouted after her, "WAIT!", running after her as Awesome ran past him.

Samantha, this small girl, gestured towards the bloodied remains of one of the triplet girls. Awesome recognized the remains. "I killed her", he said, but there were other things he wanted to say right now. Retal quickly explained that Samantha was the last girl left as Awesome tried to explain the murders.

The last villagers, Frank, Retal, Awesome and Samatha all went back to work. Samantha and Retal held the crowns on their heads as the village emerged from the dark times. As Samantha birthed her firstborn, she came to Awesome to show her newborn daughter.
But then, one day, a batch of quadruplets was born to Samantha.

The baby boys cried as Samantha gathered them, naming the babies. But then the fourth one cried for food, with a dark voice. Awesome, Retal and Frank gathered to look at the babies. "One of them is cursed", they observed. Awesome reached for his knife; "We shouldn't keep them. They are a risk". Retal took out his knife and killed the cursed one. Awesome followed suit, killing the next one. Samantha stood by as Retal picked up the third one, taking him away. A cry was heard, the child was gone. The last of the quadruplets starved as Samantha stood still.
Awesome sat by weakened Retal to ensure he would be okay. The situation was uneasy, but Samantha understood.

Now there had been eight murders, and three of those were by his hands. But after all this, Awesome would grow old and see the village recover with Samantha, who would show her children to the aging man. So much blood was spilled in his life, but he got to see life win in the end.

--
Note: this was when cursed people would play among the normal players. The first murder executed by Lilia, Awesome's mother, was to kill a cursed woman.
The triplet girls weren't cursed so they were raised. They lost their sister (10 years old at that time) when they were (assuming) leading a bear to the village. After they lost their sister to the bear, the remaining two somehow got a knife-filled backpack and killed the animals in the pen and tried to end the village by targeting the women. The other remaining triplet didn't have an apron nor a backpack so the knives were on one of the triplets which I killed first. Sadly the remaining girl saw Hanz, and got her killed. Fortunately, Samantha had been far from the commotion so the sisters probably never saw her. I'm glad those brats didn't get to end the village back then, what a scummy thing to do to try and kill a village who raised you happily. It was also a small village. I was gen 20, and the family made it to gen 35.

Sigh, people, we gotta communicate better.
Sometimes it may be better to just let go instead of killing others; instead of two people getting frustrated, now we got three.. Anyways, stuff happens. Live and let go asap so you can have nicer experiences.

What a scumbag, and i cursed her of course. She deserves it

Ouch. People are so hasty to make conclusions and won't even ask about others doing stuff. I want to believe she was a griefer trying to start a murder spree and threw blames out from her rear end.

The lady who fed me was waiting to be old enough so she could curse Ophelia, I waited with her there. She took me back and I took care of berries. Then I was a baker, some grandma gave me her backpack and apron. I visited my adopted mom from time to time and she kept getting many kids. I also met my grandmother, Ophelia's mom, she said shes happy that something good came from her evil daughter.
I had to go so I told my adoptive mum to follow me, gave her my backpack and gave an apron to her son. Told her that I love her before dying.

Gasp! Victor! My mom was Suze and I got your apron and backpack! I was fanboying over you two, you guys seemed so sweet. It was sad to see you had to leave, I would've loved to be your assistant around the town. I ended up becoming an iron retriever, bringing back two cartfuls (with baskets), apronfuls and backpackfuls of iron to the town, which were immediately taken in to make tools. I kept your stuff all the way to the end, making snake skin boots for the fading town. Very useful to have the apron and backpack, thank you!

The only japanese I saw was that Yokatta so, yokatta I didn't have to hear it more than that. But honestly I wouldn't have cared, if it had annoyed me I'd have grabbed Bernard and ran away to make an outpost for us! But I was too content helping the town.

pein wrote:

suicided like 5 times, that was a shit town, no deep wells but dumb stone buildings and stupid roads around

i seen quite a few japanese moms nowadays

I think there was only one stone building. The roads helped to wrap the farms efficiently and there was quite a few deep wells. Often dried of course. Those two wells in my last pic could've easily been made into deep wells. To me that was a fine town with lower than average water supply. Water is always an issue at this stage, but there was enough in the northern swamp. We just really need ditch digging mechanics to lead the water to the dried up wells. Or more cisterns?
I could've made cisterns and deep wells but I didn't realize it back then so I just collected logs and such for others to use for buckets and planks.
But thank you for not staying to kill. I'll take suicidal babies any day over that.

Bernard!! It's me, 'Rosie'!

I was born into the hassle of multiple murders, my mother held me but got busy as the killings continued. Annebelle Quint (your big sister) picked me up and brought me away from the knife wielding people. Nobody managed to name me at this point, even with so many people around me.

I hung around the town center, asking for a name before I'd get too old to be picked up; as a girl, it'd be good to have the surname to pass on. Then you appeared, helping me ask around as I started to lose hope. I thought, "You can name me when I'm older", but due to the speech limitation, I kept it as a thought and waddled alongside you around the town. People were so busy, even the baker didn't notice me although I was being cute with my blushy cheeks! I hovered around nearby when I noticed you still hadn't given up, and brought your mother to me. I was glad I got a name, but I did lose the surname. Oh well! I had already decided you will name all my kids!

Funny how we both decided to set off to find the stew gardens, the big southern corn field was surely one odd sight. I like how we kept running into each other! As I got my first baby, she seemed new. But I let her walk away as she hopped off from our arms. Then I got my second and last child, a girl, and I'm happy you got to name her! I think I forgot to say thank you, but thank you! And hi Bernadette, you lived long! Sadly I didn't find you later on to say goodbyes.

I'd work around the town, trying to accomplish all sorts of tasks, whatever was needed. Odd jobs, but I did keep checking on you a little bit, just to know you were still around. I checked on you as you stood in the desert, ready to feed you in case you wouldn't respond. I was hauling firewood to the storage room, almost asked if you wanted to do it with me, but you had the cooking going on, so I decided to keep that one just as a thought, too. When I saw you got old, putting dough on plates, I was writing to you; "Bernard, incase you are gone before we meet again, I want to say goodbyes", but suddenly you spoke your last words, "Rosie, eat tacos and burritos" and I deleted my message quickly, trying to start over; "I will!" is what I got out as you died right then and there. I scooped up your remains and hurried to the stew garden. I had been collecting stumps in the northern swamp (for kindling) so I grabbed the shovel, fighting against starvation, and gathered the flat rock, and buried you right above the stew gardens. As I got old, I dragged myself to stand next to your grave, dying next to you.

#636 Re: Main Forum » Blaming and keeping other people for guilty, without proof » 2018-10-03 19:47:19

Well, most of the 'proof' in this game is just hearsay, rarely you get to actually see griefers griefing with your own eyes, it's usually one or two witnesses who you just have to believe or risk having the griefer do more damage. If you want solid proof, you just gotta hover around your suspects and follow them around quietly or then let the whole thing go if nobody is griefing anymore; talking and arguing with no end can annoy others who rather kill off these endlessly bickering people than let them keep talking back and forth while munching on food. tongue

I was blamed on and killed by one player when I was innocent, but I didn't really care, I just went on to have a nice life in another family. Innocent die sometimes, it happens. Whether people are more patient before killing or not is just up to the players themselves; it'd be great if people could stalk their suspects a bit before going in swinging knives but well, I personally wasn't very ruffled over me being murdered by an impatient rando, so it could be an attitude thing on both sides.

He got killed, never got the chance of explaining himself. they didn't wanted to listen to a "griefer" or so they called him ^^

#637 Re: Main Forum » sick of these baby suicides » 2018-10-01 15:16:45

It's sad when people are so demanding over others that they go far enough to actually punish people who didn't play the way they wanted them to play, in this case, feeding them. It's odd how a fairly new player would want to punish others like that though. Usually newer players put the blame on themselves and are more understanding over mistakes.
Anyways if she could be fed, it would've been best to just feed her and then say she has to feed herself. Did you run out of berries when it happened? Maybe she hadn't seen omelettes before and didn't recognize the food?

#638 Re: Main Forum » PETITION seperate servers for STEAM users » 2018-10-01 14:57:02

Worst case scenario: Steam community stampedes into the game, leaving wreckage behind while the old players weep over what was lost. Every sale brings over a wave of newbies who stay with the game for few days before leaving, simply straining old players time and again.

Best case scenario: Steam community is just like the current OHOL community but bigger and more ambitious. Servers fill up nicely and nobody runs out of babies, making longer lineages.

Knowing us humans, I'm expecting bad things from the Steam community. So many hackers, bans, toxicity, bad clan mentality, impatient people... the overwhelming boom of newbies is gonna be tough.
But I didn't read the thread about Steam release so I digress. Wouldn't oppose server separation personally. Maybe at least trying it first as a precautious act.

Was there some kind of discussion over the updates the game receives and their distribution in Steam? Hard to imagine these buggy and broken updates being digested well in Steam.

I'd cures those players if they didnt run off before i could name them.

Eh, sometimes it's nice they run off, so you don't have to worry about raising them; better they run off than stay and grief if they don't want to be there. It does get annoying if it's constant and you'd need to have at least some kids stay. There was some discussion over a "pregnancy" time so babies could see their mom for a minute and decide if they want to be born or not. This way we wouldn't get baby bones everywhere or running babies poking bears awake. You can't force anyone to stay. And if you do, they will rebel and make others suffer. It's a constant battle to have people on both sides happy, but I'd rather have people toggling through mothers than being born to me constantly without wanting to...

A quick thing when it comes to steam if people are frustrated with the game to the point that they get bored because all they know is berry farming due to nobody explaining other professions to them they will become griefers. we'll get an increase in murders and structure demolishing, So just be aware of that.

Goodness, I hope they teach themselves first before just giving up and starting to grief. O_o There are so many tutorials around. Nobody should expect to be taught everything in this game. I know people are impatient and don't want to read but if you only berry farm and never try anything else, don't cause trouble for others.

I actually didn't even realize there was that report button, used it for the first time now. Glad he made it easy for us with some of his messages.

I remember when trolls were a good thing. A fun thing. They were pointing out people who took things too seriously when gaming and people who took offense out of anything. Now it seems that a new generation of "trolls" have surfaced who thought that trolling is just about being an a-hole when that's not what it was. I want to suspect these "new trolls" were trolled by a good troll, but they never learned what trolling was about and started to "troll" assuming it's just being a dick.

"U Mad Bro Song" by TEAMHEADKICK is a great view on online trolling, I wish people understood the point of it better. Here's the song if someone is curious, it's old ofc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckt4gi5XVKM

Another good trolling is creating silly chaos that some people get and also pointing out how people are silly online (the ones believing the good trolling);

You will never get a city done in 1h of Eve life. The way cities are done is by having the Eves spawn back to their old home marker and reviving the place until it becomes a city.
So: be Eve, do what you can, set home marker, die to Old Age. Spawn back either by pure luck or by suiciding until you roll an Eve life at your old home marker. Keep developing the place and raising kids. At some point other Eves plop in your town and develop it too as now Eves spawn where someone else had died on the server.

The "original Eves" who start from scratch are lucky if they see a sheep pen before they die. big_smile

I think people would become more selfish and not settle for anything else than the family they had in previous life. If you knew you can get right back to continue your library, you would spend as much time suiciding as it takes to get back and not stay to help other families in other conditions.

#648 Re: Main Forum » MY Issues and Suggestions for the game from a new player » 2018-09-30 08:00:10

LETTER CAP: I agree that the letter cap is ridiculous and should be changed so it's more like: babies 1 word, kids 3+ words, teens and adults and elders max cap.

CRAFTING TREE: Crafting tree is a lot but learn it one profession at the time. I suggest looking up compost and stew so you know how soil should be used other than berry farming. I learnt the recipes in 2 months of pretty average amount of playing and watching some videos of YouTubers (great for tips and tricks).

WASD: Dev said no WASD because it adds traffic within the responses and requests of the players and the server. Left click moving is easier to process.

BABY CAP: Do not baby cap the women in the game. The answer is: abandon. Eves do that a lot and should. You are not supposed to be able to save all your babies as an Eve. Most understand why you have to abandon them and gladly respawn somewhere else. The Eve should always make it, so they can possibly respawn to the camp (assuming the 'die at 60 as an Eve and have home marker set' -thing still works).

FIRE: Fire making should have more options, surely. The most annoying thing in early game is honestly thread and rope, which slows people down when making fire. In advanced towns and cities, it's the whole 'find tinder and a leaf and hope nobody cut those trees'.

#649 Re: Main Forum » Bring back lineage ban as baby » 2018-09-29 21:38:45

Well, sometimes you do want to stay but starve by accident or by a careless mother, would suck to get a lineage ban like that. I do think that it is annoying how people are so picky that majority of your offspring just runs; if you are born to a town or a city, make a basket and go to wilderness. Nobody is stopping you from having a starter camp life. Travel far to start over or perhaps make a faraway neighbor town? Or as Stylingirl said, go to an unpopulated server if you need a break from towns and cities.

Isn't that how it works anymore, was that changed completely? Eves who lived to 60 had a chance to spawn back to their old home markers, like I have spawned?
I do know they can now spawn where someone died too, thought the random people had to have reached 60 too to make their locations viable for Eve spawns. Do correct me if I'm wrong, I feel like there is too much hearsay. O_o
