I think Jason is saying, he has bigger fish to fry... Working out the kinks in his current endeavor, the rift, for example...

I want content too.. But, I also want a functional game.

And if the rift is the next step to the content he has planned, then I want him to iron out the kinks in the rift first..

Let's not forget he is doing this by himself.

Have some faith in the man that created the game that brought us here in the first place.

#52 Re: Main Forum » Why are we still acting like we're in the rift? » 2019-08-22 07:11:18

This game is fantastic for people that find joy in griefing... Isn't that awesome? You can be productive your whole life, or destroy the town... A great concept.. it's a bit out of balance atm.. but stop whining like a little girl, and give Jason time to fix it.

#53 Re: Main Forum » Jason, don't give up. » 2019-08-22 05:50:13

Come on guys, so many comments are so negative... But he's a one man team, and has made an awesome game. BY HIMSELF. let's show some love.

I could understand why you would want to... Perhaps the thought has never crossed your mind.. But just in case.. The game you have created, so far, is awesome. I quit fortnite tonight, to play this game... I hope you continue with your vision, to make an even better game, despite the haters.

Don't give up on us. We love ohol.

#55 Re: Main Forum » Everyone Complains about greiving but nothings being Done. » 2019-08-20 20:40:30

While grieving can't, and shouldnt be stopped.. I do think it could be balanced a bit more.

I like the drama it creates.

But the easiest weapon to craft is the most difficult to heal.

It's quick and easy to build a newcommen tower to block off resources..

Twins are awful and difficult to stop in time to save the town.

Resources are less of an issue outside the rift, but it's far too easy to deplete them inside it.

I don't know how to fix it, but surely there are solutions.

Curisng one should apply to both, and if one is killed, the other should die as well (called Sudden Broken Heart Syndrome), both of which he spoke of and was going to add to them when he initially put twinning into the game. They never made it.

Now it's better to just abandon twins/etc than risk keeping a pair of griefers, because often by the time you recognize them as griefers, they've already done enough damage to harm your town/family for the long run.

I agree. I often starve twins because it's just not worth the risk. It's unfortunate, though, that a lot of non-griefers die that just want to play with a friend

Twinning is a great feature of the game, but it's abused by griefers far too often.

Two or more griefers working together can really wreak havoc on a town.. And it's more difficult to curse and banish them because curses are divided between two people...

I think if cursing one twin counted for both of them it could cut down on twin griefers..

If your twin gets cursed, so do you..

Just an idea..

#58 Re: Main Forum » A little thought experiment » 2019-08-20 03:35:05

I would add an observation mode that allows you to spectate your direct descendants.

And, the ability to curse them while spectating.

It's quite hard to heal an arrow wound in time even with the know-how. I think each of the steps to fix the arrow wound should extend the death timer.

That would be a good solution.

#60 Re: Main Forum » Healing arrow wounds » 2019-08-17 13:03:37

Another problem is that people always pick up thread and knives. It's impossible to keep them in a designated healing area. Items used for healing should have no other use to prevent people from picking them up.

So many griefers use arrows to kill.. Unfortunately, they're the most difficult wounds to heal. Most people don't know how to do it...

I really think the hot knife should be taken out of the process.

There isn't enough time to find someone with a knife, that also happens to be close to pads, thread, and fire.. AND knows how to use it.

It's so frustrating to be working to help a town and be murdered by some ass hole with a bow.. On top of that, you become lineage banned, and can't go back to finish what you were working on. -.-

Let's keep in mind Jason makes a lot of money from this game... How much vacation time do you guys get? How much are you paid? It's likey quit a but less. Because, as millenials, we are entitled to low wages and ridiculously high education costs. Yay us.

No one is "entitled" for a refund. What world are you living in son? Buy or beware. You paid and got a product. Now all of a sudden you are not happy so you think you are entitled for a refund....

LOL.

Waaa cry cry the game is not what "I" want it to be..... give me a refund..... *stomps feet* waaa cry cry.

Millennial's................

"Buy or beware"?  You mean buyer beware.  Growing up takes time.

Going on vacation while the game is in this state doesn't look too great....

I didn't pay for a lifetime of updates and content.  I don't expect Jason to give up his family or his vacation so I can play his game.  And I don't think that Jason is trying to intentionally ruin OHOL with these updates, even though I don't agree with many of the recent changes.

I paid for a game in active development by a single indie developer.   I expect that the game will change over time and it might even eventually become something I don't like or don't want to play anymore.   I don't want a refund and I don't think I deserve one.  I have enjoyed playing OHOL and I have received more than I paid for already.

At this point, I would just like to help improve the game so I can continue to enjoy it.  I don't think it is in a good place right now.   But it isn't ruined beyond redemption.     Not yet, anyways.

Lol you sound a bit like a shill.. That's ok, you're probably not... But we all paid for a lifetime of updates and content. The game is roughly two years old... We are all entitled to a refund...

I don't want that... And most people don't.. But again, perhaps Jason needs a little incentive to fix his blunder.

Why are you using "WE" in your statement.... You can ask for one. Stop trying to force others to share your opinion. Please get your refund and leave. Thanks.

Until you can learn basic grammar... Your opinion doesn't matter...

Please read my comments before replying to them. I clearly said that I hope Jason fixes the game.

In what way have I forced anything on anyone? Please be more specific.

Or just don't reply at all. That would be preferable. This is a place for intelligent conversation.

I don't actually want to be refunded just yet. I love the game. I just want to be able to play the game I fell in love with.

This is a mess, but it can be fixed...

That's fine.  I would much rather have a functioning game than a refund too.  I've gotten way more than twenty dollars worth of enjoyment from OHOL already.   It hurts me to see the game in this state.

Hopefully it is only a temporary condition.

Yes, but Jason might need some incentive to actually do something about it.

#68 Re: Main Forum » All time low » 2019-08-11 03:33:09

That is simply not true. It went in steam shortly after its release, and the highest amount of players was immediately after the steam release. Also.. There were*** Not there was... Son

#69 Re: Main Forum » All time low » 2019-08-11 03:21:44

Oh? Did you "seen" it lower in the very beginning before it had an actual player base? What a valid point you made... Thank you for contributing to the conversation.

#70 Re: Main Forum » Code of the Griefers » 2019-08-11 03:06:49

Sometimes I "grief." I do have a code.. I never bother players that are working hard to make the town survive. I never kill girls when there are just a few. And I never do anything to take away resources that will help a town thrive...

Lately, I've been a bit more indiscriminate.. There is no reward for working hard and being helpful. The town will die soon and be taken over by another family regardless of my actions.. Because there are so many griefers now, I'm never too worried about donkey town.. There is nothing to create, so might as well destroy..

#71 Re: Main Forum » All time low » 2019-08-11 02:49:26

#72 Re: Main Forum » All time low » 2019-08-11 00:12:43

I can understand Jason's adamant adherence to his decisions, as he seems to view games as art... I'm sure his OHOL endeavor is no exception..

To be honest, I think the rift box has a lot of potential.. But, it needs to be balanced.

Griefers are rampant.. I can hardly live a life without being murdered. There are no resources.. This needs to be fixed.

Fix it before the game dies completely.

37 players... I have never seen the player count this low...
Even at 4:00 AM on a week day..  player count has been consistently above 50 players...

Typical player count on a weekend at 7ish PM would be 80 - 110...

Please fix the game, Jason.

#75 Re: Main Forum » Suggestion: Observation mode » 2019-07-29 20:04:25

I started out playing you are hope, and spectating is the one thing I miss most. I would love to see it in ohol.

It's nice to be able to see how things go for your kids after you're gone.
