a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building

You give birth, you name the child, and you let it starve in the wilderness.
Then you go and grief and that poor player takes all the curses.
Someone pointed out that we can just notice if someone starved their kid. But a player can easily go to the forest and give birth there, names their kid the same name, starve their kid and then come back to that city.

--Yes, you need to know the name of the person. If multiple people have the same name, the person who received that name last is cursed.
This seems bad. A griefer will just name their kids after them.
You should only be able to curse someone in your screen. So we just have to make sure their kids aren't there.
Same with dead people, their bones have to be on screen.
It's mostly just random chatter, but once in a while we get our shit together and log into a specific server and have a discord party, which is a super productive, pretty grieferless session.
I think most people just can't be bothered either way. so if you had asked them to curse him, they would've just ignored you and gone on their way unless he personally hurts them.
But we will know in the next update!
You guys who love rude babies will especially love cursed ones! See, the game provides!
Babies can’t curse. Speech limitations.
People get one curse per two hour of game play. It’s not much.
When you curse someone you curse yourself as well.
If there are like 5 main griefers, like I suspect, I’ve suggested just removing them.
But he wants us to self-police. I support at least trying this out. It takes like 10-20 curses to be marked and it decays each hour of game play. If you piss off 20 players (20% of the server population) in a short period of time... Maybe you need to figure out why no one likes you.
Eve and trying to find new place.
Baby is rude.
Baby runs around constantly instead of staying in perfect temp.
Especially satisfying to kill rude babies who calls me names. (This game has hardened my heart!)
I carry them far away and they don't jump off in time and they run into town and just a few tiles away from soft hearted people. So sad!
i watch a bunch of family members suicide because some player was being toxic. And it was a tiny family too, I doubt that line lasted much longer.
200 is too high. Maybe start at 12 and see how it goes?
Especially since it decays. It means you can grief one person every other life.
I’ve only found it once when I was born in a satellite city.. But yeah... most of the time it’s a waste of time.
I support this idea. Everything is too far.
Also, why does a lineage not last longer then a day? I’m gonna guess: griefers!
I’ve made maybe two settlements off trinity. I fucked off that city as soon as I’m ready.
I suicide if the people are too toxic. I get enough trolls on social media.
Maybe if you bless someone you still get penalized, so you're not throwing your curses and blessings around.
Sheesh.... game design is hard!.
But fun yeah? And pays the big bucks... Oh wait.
With two levels of cursing, you can stalk two people at once!
OR
You can set the first level of cursing as your friends, people you like playing with.
The second level of cursing to people you actually hate.
Jason, you probably only have four or five of the same regular griefers. Maybe it's just easier to go through your logs and clean those people away?
The griefing IS a problem. This whole ignore and let it go away just isn't working. The majority of us don't want to deal with horrible shit on the internet voluntarily as an entertainment. Yes, the occasional troll is fine, but lately the griefing seems pretty constant.
Yeah I just realized that new players are a huge liability in this game, so marking them is a bad idea. I take my suggestion back.
Hmm.. maybe if a new player gets cursed there is a small shimmer in the air and the curse is neutralized by the innocence of the player. But yeah, I can see being furstrated with a newbie who tills soil instead of feeding it to the berries, and people getting mad at the newbie. Someone did that at trinity and got yelled at and stabbed.
That. Is. Hilarious.
Hey. How about making new players easy to spot for the first three hours of play? Like they wear a green hat.
Does that make the game too easy? Like the tutorial?
? Some things take a whole lifetime to finish up the tech tree and it's very satisfying to finish it. If she fed and grew the sheep and sheared the sheep, she gets to decide what to do with the fleece.
When you’ve gathered all the materials for a backpack and a three year old kid who just got hair makes the bag for themselves while you’re not looking...
always hide the needle and thread till the very end.
The Nameless poeple being able to get around it though.... That seems way too easy to game. Babies can easily jump off mothers, it's happened several times when I'm naming someone.
Blessing or cursing someone should take a bunch of food pips, like ten or so. So you better have food ready, otherwise it'll be your dying curse.
Actually, this means people who are murdered can use their last words to curse.
Like the Magicians in the Dresden files. FYI.
Definitely one per life.
