a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building

We both had localhost and custom server turned off.
Has anyone else made it into the game as triplets? My two (real life) kids want to play with me but we have waited to be born for 15mins and gave up waiting.
Probatly a bug. Just try again, if it's a bug a fix will come for sure.
I just twinned up the first time. Normally you and your friend need to go to the twin option, enter the same code and then search for games. How did he clicked on tutorial? How would the game know that yiu and him want to twin?
LCould it be that it was his first game? And he needed to do the tutorial?
I tried to twin today. RedBug and me couldnt spawn together. I changed only the account and used the same game files. We spawned directly then.
To my mum Kit,
we finished the stone walls around our home, some flooring was missing but I brought some more logs and people were working on it.

The editor currently allows me to construct test scenes with any of the available objects. Those scenes can be loaded by a game server, and the client can connect to that server, allowing me to test that object configuration inside the live game.
Here are instructions for how you can set up the same test system on your end, in Linux.
First, make sure you have these packages installed:
http://onehouronelife.com/compileNotes.php?nocounter=1
Then, grab this shell script:
I am a bit stuck.
I installed the packages and wanted to do this step:
"After installing the required packages on your system, download the UnixSource bundle and extract it:
tar xzf OneLife_Live4_UnixSource.tar.gz"
So I did this and got the respond that it cant find the file or folder.
Any ideas?
And then there is another question. The next step would be to grab the shell script.
"Then, grab this shell script:
https://github.com/jasonrohrer/OneLife/ … tSystem.sh"
I was on the github and couldnt find a download for the file?
I build two 2 small and one quite big city in the tutorial with a lot of other guys. That was pretty funny. I wonder if someone saw the places outside if the tutorial?
hi i am new and i wonder how to get a key to go in a server
Go to "www.onehouronelife.com" and scroll down a bit there you can purchase a key for the servers hosted by Jason.
Well just make new keys. Correct me if I am wrong, there are only 8 key versions. So you can easy get everything needed and make 8 keys in one life.
Things despawning is probatly not intended. I think there is already a thread in the bug section about this problem.

It now randomly-generates a batch of 50 math problems.
[...]THUS... we will finally determine, for real, whether these spammers are humans or robots.
Well, keto guys are back already. So, if that's custom modification to plugin, not just some option that you've switched, then we can be proud: we've got precious, hand crafted spam
If it's like this we should honor their hard work and invite them to the game. If they work so hard what could they accomplish in a productive ohol day? I already see tousends of cakes getting baked.
Maybe make it that you need 5 post before you can open a newtopic. The work will get harder and the spanners will look for easier forums to spam
Well if the temp buff would be increased buildings would make sense, also they protect you from hungry grizzlys.
Well adding bigger storage only for buildings will be a bit tricky. There is already a mechanic in game that knows if a room is closed, but what would happen if you say boxes get 8 slots indoor and someone demolishes the wall, would all items fall all over the place?
Probatly you could do it with the design of the object, so maybe you could have a wardrobe that stores one complete set of clothes and keeps them from decay. It would feel intuitive to build it indoors, but since it would be anyways better then a box in storing clothes what would hold you from building the wardrobe into the woods? So if you see a wardrobe in the woods it would feel a bit weird.
Probatly best solution would be to make more expensive/highertech storage solutions like boxes just with more slots. So more work needed for better storage.
I was once in a town with some crazy food guys.
One guy made pies, so many pies..
The other guy did omletts, so many omletts..
Then there was the guy that made stew, so much stew..
And everyone was happy and not in a rush.
I made a big goose pen plus a huge corn field next to it, so we could make more eggs.
There was so much soil still around and compost already running. People had easy liefes. It's just important that the producing people find young and fit workers when they get older otherwise no one feels responsible and all collapses.
I think rain won't be a thing. Jason said something about the whether once.
I also would like to see more building options.
Maybe other doors for pens, so animals can't pass, but the player could.
Also for smaller animals smaller space requirement. So maybe you could build a henpen where 4 hens could be stored on one tile. It's a bit weird that you need to build a pen for goose as big as a pen for pigs.
Aurora will make your games to a nightmare when she is back from her vacation haha

Xan wrote:Scorp I killed my first moving person on Sunday. The first time I put the knife down because I aimed at him. The second time I aimed for the tile that he was moving to and I got him. At full speed I have no idea how anyone could manage that but I got them while they were slowed. Hope that helps.
If it's true that you need to click ahead of murderer instead on him - that's bug in UI.
And having stab and put down operations both on RMB is bad design too - dropping knife while chasing somebody is the least likely operation you want to perform. I've also seen many times people do the opposite as well - stabbing somebody that moved onto tile, while they were trying to put the knife down. I've even got killed as a kid this way, running to pick a berry, as some elder was passing the knife.
It's really not optimal, but I also won fights without a knife against a murderer. He dropped the knife and I could pick it up.
I guess somehow it should be possible to make the killer drop his weapon.
And for the moving part, probatly if a person is moving the game don't see him betwin tile 1 or 2. For the game he is already on tile two, when you see him in the middle of 1 and 2.
Kiln is often placed near farm. Most of the times at the kiln is a fire and some space to stand. So people use it as a town center.
If you see a Smith located so badly, build a new one and when you are finish destroy the old one. Smiting gets much easier like this.
Not sure if it's on the first game only. But on the first game it takes for sure much longer.
Hey guys,
I am having trouble updating my game for some reason. I have an HP Envy x360, and a great connection. Any ideas as to why it will not properly update? The downloading bar goes half way and stops.
Go into your e-mail look for Jason's update news. In this mail will be a download link to the newest client. Game will work then.
No I would not be fine with that, but I am also not killing baby's without a name. But it's the only solution to it atm. That's just it.
I think there is a big amount of double/unnamed baby's in town. Griefers instead are rare and they can be stopped with bow and knife.
So I think the whole cursing thing is not the optimum and it won't get much better since griefers always exploit where they can.
No. My mom died at birth last game. What am I supposed to do? Get killed apparently.
You guys literally have zero respect for others. Nameless? Kill them of course! Who cares about their will to live and their right to freedom?!
You killed her with your birth! So the knife for you would be correct!
Just so you guys know. I never killed a unnamed baby only by accident.
There are so many unnamed persons and if one out of 50 would grief... Please you can stop that if you want....
Okay, so let's say you can adobt and name a baby that isn't yours, you can give nicknames, and whatever, still it could be that there are double names like sc0rp said and unnamed persons.
The griefer could also exploit those cases. So you would need to auto name/numner persons at a certain age. But why would you name your kid then?
This is such a tricky one if you want to keep the naming system as it is. You can maybe make it less likely to have a unnamed/double named person, but still there will be unclear cases. So the griefers would also get its chance if he keeps trying.
So why not let it like it is and just add 2 features - adoption and no double names.
You will still have unnamed persons, but it won't be that likely as it is now. People would get more sensitive about the naming process once they faced a griefer that wasn't named. And the time spend for implementing those isn't that high. Also the naming system stays special.
And then close this case.
Depending on the situation I stay or suicide.
Sometimes I just play a game a day and sometimes I want to play this game in a town.
If this is the case:
If the camp is in a bad spot - suicide.
Two girls or young fertile mum - suicide.
No girls/old mum/good + decent spot - stay.
Sure even in camps with two girl both can die and suiciding is in general bs, but sometimes time spend somewhere else is more valuable.
Yesterday I wanted to play in a city and got three times spawned in a eve camp and people were waiting for a girl that won't suicide, so I stayed, worked and made new baby's as the only women in the settlement.
Most of my baby's saw me work and stayed with me. In one run I set up a large Smith and the baby's were impressed by it.
The best guarantee is to make something big. Make 40 plates, make a huge Smith, make a huge farm, make it look like a great place with potential, then they will stay with you in most cases.
FounderOne wrote:When your kid jumps out of your arm in the naming process finish the naming press enter and press again enter, then the upper arrow then grab the kid again and directly press enter. Naming is successful.
It's not my kids that gets unnamed. At least not intentionally. I ocassionally get unnamed kid in town, when I'm not even aware I had one. Heck, I watched one replay three times yesterday, when reporting other bug, and I still don't know when last kid was born.
FounderOne wrote:If people don't name their baby's tell them why they should do it and how.
How can I find mother of an unnamed kid?
FounderOne wrote:You can stab, shoot or starve unnamed baby's too, better starve them otherwise lineage ban kicks in.
This way we're are at square one, chasing griefer every single game. Getting a backpack and a weapon takes half a lifetime and I'm supposed to repeat it every single game in a town. He can repeatedly suicide 15-30 times per town, till he gets unnamed. No lineage ban when he fails. And no curse when he succeeds.
Watch the mums and you will probatly find the one that is not naming or ask or just kill the unnamed baby.
If you kill them with knife and bow lineage ban kicks in.
