If you're not being awful and disruptive why should anyone get banned?

Calling for harmless people to be banned or attacking people for the way they express themselves is far more bannable of an offense than making a harmless alt.

The German American Bund forums might be more up your alley.

OK Bruh your not Trolling me.

Everyone sees that wood is an alt. Why the moderators allow this IDK. I say everyone make a alt account and post the same one word reply, or nonsense posts spamming the forum.

I mean they allow this crap!

Some people on the discord were commenting that towns die too fast with the westward forever spawn, implying that it was better when the game had the every expanding Eve spiral that would also reset to the longest living family spawn when an update happened.  No race restrictions then.  Towns did last longer then, since people would reappear at that longest living family spot and old towns could get resettled without needing to get resources from an old town.  Also, tarry spots didn't deplete, so one oil rig (and there was almost always one within 100 tiles of tile with the way the map was then) would suffice.

Ahh the good old days, before dumb banded world.

Maybe increase the new player half pip loses for a longer time? You don't learn much in ten hours anyways.

Triple, new player should be given at least triple food bonus.
I played more than eight lifes today and felt so despair, only two roles dead for old age, others all adults death for starvation. None family can living longer than thirty generations.
In the farm, rows are barren, berry bushes are dark. And no matter you fill the kitchen with how many foods, it was empty fast. No clothes, hungry chases you, berry much no more a blame, for there are no food and you are starving nearly die.
New players want communication, my daughters eager to talk, but I am too busy to stand and say much with them, for the whole family is in bigger survival tension and I have to work hard saving my every sec for productivity works. It destroyed my emotional connection with my kids : (

It's because their buff is wearing off, they dont know. Nice if they knew...

Unless you read the forums or discord most people don't know.

Maybe we should start telling new player how screwed up OHOL is, say get a refund, don't waste time on a broken game.

I mean I get that, you can't teach 5-6 people by yourself let alone can the few people who do know what they're doing carry a bunch of new people. Was just trying to point out why the tutorial is sort of bare bones in the first place.

The game is not exactly playable when it's balanced around 30-40 people online and we suddenly have 30-40 per family hence why I suggested either smaller families or longer lasting wells. To my knowing Jason didn't tweak any of the settings when we talked earlier last week about shrinking family sizes which I think is the quickest fix to some of the issues.

The families with the highest yum chains + warmest families are going to be the ones getting the highest fertility bonus which means if you cn feed a woman you're going to have more kids which then leads to famine and a huge bust in population.

Something is definitely wrong.

If we have a population cap on families, then endless eves spawn because their kids will starve thus increasing eve spawns?

Give us all the half pip loses, that new players abuse, when population gets over 70-80.

A new player server would be nice. First ten hours they can play together with less harsh rules. Then they could be told that they are entering hard mode, told about yum, and getting cursed for munching berries.

I wish we had an Eve, yum, mothering 101 tutorial? Guess that takes work....

If we had a tutorial that actually taught you anything useful it would change the experience for new players.

Problem is I doubt Jason could eve, how are you supposed to teach when you can not do?

The food values and pip loses are based on players with thousands of hours of playtime, and we wonder why this doesn't work.

Maybe increase the new player half pip loses for a longer time? You don't learn much in ten hours anyways.

You're supposed to learn the game from other players. In it's purest form you would learn everything from your elders like we did at the very start of the game.

Elders are berry munchers nowadays lol.

They think that living to 60s makes you spawn in the same town, pretty funny when they eat everything in town and get starved as a child tho.

How you supposed to teach 5-6 players each life and still make enough food so the town doesn't starve?

90% of player where brand new today.

#107 Re: Main Forum » Problems with the current state of the game and why » 2022-04-19 04:10:35

That's part of the joy of OHOL.

Jason wants us all to suffer.

Because without the pain of defeat you wouldn't understand what happiness really is.

But, for reals the bad tutorial is the reason people can't figure the game out.

Instead of letting them die and finish, they should have to make tools and escape.

At the very least the tutorial should focus on Yumming instead of dieing!!!

Imagine designing your whole game around yumming, yet fail to explain this to new players!

I want to know why Jason thinks OHOL vets should show 1000 new players how to play.

This all comes back to Jason not caring to balance his game!

Best part is new players get that buff where they lose half health, yet this is not explained, so after 10 hours of berry munching they start killing town and have no clue whats going on.

Unless you count OP villager trades as lootboxes but why would you?

Minecraft has DLC and the expansion costs $40 for those.

Try again.

WTF moderators want to do your damn job?

#110 Re: Main Forum » Why Is Iron Scrapping So Advanced? » 2022-04-11 21:35:12

So what's your tool order?

You only have four iron.

I do this all the time, it's Hammer, Axe, Shovel, Pick.

Screw making a hoe, at the start people will make a farm around the fire or somewhere dumb.

If they are smart enough to make their own hoe or use skewers they usually know where to farm.

Worse case scenario you have a pick that can get you at least 10 more iron.

Thats bullshit that you need to use the newcomen hammer to scrap newcomen parts.

Time to go destroy a town!!!

Hello I'm your friendly nierborhood smith, you ordered 30 crude pistons?

#111 Re: Main Forum » Is this game still alive? » 2022-04-11 21:17:48

No game stays relevant forever, it's impossible to create a game with enough content to entertain someone forever.

Name one game that hasn't been destroyed because of loot boxes and microtransactions. Ruinscape?

Money seems to be the root of games becoming bland.

As long as Jason keeps the servers online OHOL will always be a small niche game.

Let's say EA buys the license.

EA would kill OHOL and make OHOL2 with loot boxes.

OHOL wouldn't get anymore updates, but OHOL2 would be a more impressive game, yet in two years it would also die.

This seems to be the trend in MMO's.

They die because there is more money in releasing an expansion and making the game more accessible ( aka easy ).

I think I'd still make one hoe before a mining pick, but I would agree that better safe than sorry on having that mining pick.  I wouldn't try to bust out a cart before making a pick for sure.  Going to a mine without a mining pick pretty much sucks.

With only 4 iron at start you must make a hammer, shovel, and axe.

If you make a hoe with the fourth your only able to get 4 more iron without a pick with only one mine.

But if you only have the 4 starting iron and no lose iron in the vein then your screwed at this point!

Like if the well was dug before the iron was removed. ( which happens all the time )

Also it's not possible to make the 3 starting tools (hammer, shovel, and axe) and what a cart requires with only four iron.

Let's break this down.

You need a hammer, chisel, file, saw, froe, and adze.

Add in the shovel and axe, and you get 8, the exact number you get from the free iron when vein is unlocked.

So, in turn I believe that the fourth tool should be a pick, if you only have one mine.

#113 Re: Main Forum » Why Is Iron Scrapping So Advanced? » 2022-04-11 19:25:25

Well why would anyone make a newcomen before a shovel lol.

You get 8 free iron ( 4 when unlocked, and 4 when you shovel well)

And the first tools you should make if you only have one mine are hammer, axe, shovel, and pick.

TBH instead of a newcomen they made a shovel and 7 hoes, then it would be believable.

The iron system is way too complex.

Numberous times I've been born into towns with just a shovel, axe and a hoe, and lose 1 iron, or no iron.

Having to break a couple tool just to save a town shouldn't be a common thing, but you would be surprised I've had to do this a couple times.

Because they didn't remove the iron out before they shoveled the well they only have 4 iron.

If Jason is going to make a crazy system that few know how it works, he needs to make the information available to the public.

But he won't, because he doesn't care.

Simple Jack you have this backwards.
The community should get the praised for dealing with a toxic dev, TBH.

Look at the facts.
It's always ten times easier to destroy an item, then to make it.
Jason doesn't test out his own game, so therefore relies on players to submit bugs. (BTW we shouldn't, because we don't get paid)
Thus, creating buggy patches and updates.

The worst is the fact that he leads us on with updates, that aren't real!!!!
Sorta like your loser friend that has huge plans, then huge plans after that, then just sits around playing RUST!

#116 Re: Main Forum » How To Make the Diesel Mining Pick Get Used More » 2022-04-01 19:12:37

Next you could fix milkweed. People also grief by making fields of milkweed with 3 bowl of soil per row, you can destroy the towns soil and water and make like 10 ropes

#117 Re: Main Forum » Not Appearing On My Deep Roots This Week: Tom Jobbins » 2022-03-30 12:35:54

This is the problem with being male nowadays... No respect!

I 'am sure this is not a bug and Jason has some reason for this, or he can make up one really quick.

Never looked at that family tree page in the log-in screen before so I doubt Jason notices.

I think we need a hierarchy tree, where we can see who was leader, who passed them lead, and who was picked by the system to determine who was in charge when a family dies.

It's not like we remember the court jester and forget about the King?

#118 Re: Main Forum » Not Appearing On My Deep Roots This Week: Tom Jobbins » 2022-03-29 19:55:21

Are you trying to say males don't show up in long lines in family tree page?

Or are you trying to say that males don't show up in deep roots?

My all time long lines show the Tini family at generation 813 and this nameless male. http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=5967331

All the deep roots shows only Eves, so ya, no males there.

I don't get what your trying to ask, or say even after reading your post a couple times.

As you are all aware, there is LOADS of so-called "dead content" in the game.  Which sounds more interesting?  Making garlic bread in the game, or breeding/evolving specific types of dogs from wild wolves?  Well, dog breeding is in the game, but people almost never do it.

The solution to dead content is to make it viable.

Make dogs edible?

Make roadkill edible?

I think the problem is with balance.

Lets take grapes and wine as an example. It takes awhile to get together a full newcomen drill, and and roller to be able to make grapes. Then you must get a bottle, funnel and glass to be able to make wine. This is only two foods for hours of work. On the other hand, cows take only a couple minutes to get plus they supply three different foods, butter, skim and whole milk.

There seems to be no logic behind the effort vs efficiency of a food. Instead of making foods equal, lets make a craving system that has 64 different foods? Guess it makes it viable content (only once every ten generations) but I still don't understand how, or why one food costs so little while another takes ten times longer yet produces less.

I have to admit, I think the one catchiest part of ohol is the different races. I think the best content update would be adding another race. I vote Asians and they could access another biome with silk and gunpowder.

The games current state only leads to one thing, a long march westward.

Every village now dies within a couple days, never to be inhabited again.

I miss the days when families would trek for generation just to live at a bell town.

So far we have a way to wipe the server, the apocalypse.

We should have an opposite event that would make eve spawn around a certain point.

If a town has a bell you could sacrifice ten babies, that make eves spawn a hundred west of said town.

Make it on a timer and global warning like the apoc, on the four hour timer.

If we have an apoc shouldn't there be an alternative?

#122 Re: Main Forum » Whats your favorite tool? » 2022-03-04 23:59:21

TBH newcomen is my favorite tool.

I love how newbs can't figure them out.

Least favorite tool is newcomen because it wastes so much materials.

Or this person who griefs with boars

Blame Jason and the messed up curse system, not us!

#125 Re: Main Forum » One hour one life Mobile? Anyone else gave it a run? » 2022-02-21 14:41:55

Why pay 4 bucks for a mobile version of a dead game?

Seeing how OHOL only has 30 players max nowadays, how many people are playing a knock mobile version?

I'm will to bet no one is playing.
