Which multiplayer video game does not have griefers?

I mean, unless I implemented some kind of draconian report-and-ban thing, and then I'd have a full-time job going through reports and passing judgement on people one by one.  Forever.

Do you know how many angry letters I still get about donkeytown?

"I paid for game and now I can't play, waaaahhh.  This game promised that I could do anything but then you make it so I can't grief everyone.  Who do you think you are, bad dev."

Imagine if there was actually a perma-ban function.... sheesh.  I'm pretty sure that would be against Steam's policy, at least.

And before you say, "JUST REMOVE PVP," .... uh... pvp has nothing to do with it.  Cutting down every Juniper or slaughtering every sheep isn't PVP.  PVP is the only tool you have to stop such things from happening.

Jason, bring back the curse of killers.

Also from other families.

Just enough.

Currently, griefs are about 1/4 of the game's population (only about 40 people play outside of rush hours).

You really need to react somehow or the game will die.

You may not care, but if the number of players drops to 20, no one will buy the game anymore.

Calm players are running away, but some are still waiting for your reaction.

Give us some opportunity to deal with griefers.

So the engine caused your family's death.

The engines are so deadly ...

When I was browsing through spam threads by Morti, I came across a link to the family tree of the family from months ago.

And I noticed something.

Look - my most successful Eve run (11 months ago).

Click several times, watch several generations.

Do you see anything weird?

http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=1245505

Compare it now with the family tree of the  selected at random family from two days ago.

Here 40 generations and here.

http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=5110249

........................

........................

Do you see the difference?

In a family from 11 months ago I found 4 murders (maybe I wasn't looking exactly).

Two of these cases are death on demand and one accident.

How many victims are there in the Feuer family?

Count if you feel like ....

Dear new players who do not remember these times, do not be surprised that Morti is pissed.

I also knew that it was bad but only this comparison makes me realize that it is tragic.

Kill all the mouflons on the map.

Then kill all the sheep.

Yes, it's not as easy as cutting down all maple trees.

The process is in progress.

A Methodology to solve the problem
Find the measurable differences that a griefer player has to a caregiver player.
Then add futures based on those differences to balance the game effectively affecting only the griefers.

I ask for Brainstorming here / any data as well would help

I don't have data but:

-I would be somewhat sure that griefers have lower fitness score that the average player.

-They would probably have been cursed more as well

Balancing based on differences

-implement miss chance based on score.
-if you miss you still get slowed and your weapon on cooldown.

analyzing leaderboards score I observed ( https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ … sp=sharing )
average score ~20-22 (depending on days)

min of the top 10% : 39
min of the top 20% : 34
min of the top 30% : 30
Max of botom 20% : 8.6

distributing the miss chance exponentially from the average score (20 score) to the lowest (0 score) and giving 0% miss chance to the top 10% (39 score) would be like this:

x-axis =score
Y-axis = miss chance
https://www.desmos.com/calculator/a4k5vrog38

Possible Effects
-Griefer would not be able to kill if he keeps ruining the lives of his genes
-Anyone would think twice before being aggressive and prefer communication instead
-Killing will happen only for survival and not for entertainment
-If you want to be sure you want to kill someone you better tell the village about him to help you.

I think the average score in the long run can tell who is griefer.

In the short term, killing your family has a fatal impact on the result.

The caveat to all of this is that OHOL might die despite all efforts, simply because the basic premise is unworkable. This case is made by RedComb here: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewt … d=7563&p=2
and I'm afraid he might be right.

Jason invents poor mechanics (magic fences) and then forces players to use it although they don't want to.

The best solution would be to throw away swords, but then players will not build fences with stickes.

I'm for player IDs.

But most people will not agree.

someone else just hunted me wioth a war sword, was much faster than me, and killed me with a sword at a distance of 4 tiles.

its a torture sim full of hacks.

I saw it too.

In addition, I growled at the grief and ran to him, and he disappeared.

It seemed a bit like switching places with another person.

Ok, I'm not a good killer, but I checked who I was attacking.

In the meantime I killed someone else and a grief appeared out of nowhere and killed me.

It was very strange.

yeah, it was nice having the option of being a city-dweller or roughing it as a gen2 kid. playing in cities every life is getting mundane.

Exactly. My favorite place to play is in an early camp.

Now it is boring and you can not do anything important.

Because either everything is already there or there is no raw material.

The only thing that remains is assault and murder.

Disgusting.

I played 3 lives today (actually one to old age). Each time I was killed by griefers playing to hunt players. This is already unbearable!

I will list the minuses of the last update:

- The city was boring, right? So now we are all playing in cities (which often resemble a chicken coop). Lack of space, the same boring duties.
- Repairing fences is probably the most boring duty, and finally, someone will let grief in through the gate.
- It's impossible to play real Eve (only after upgrading). I liked playing in the Eve camp ... Now Eve will either join the city or die because of lack of milkweeds and iron.
- Some generally available things are now very difficult to find (try to find carrot seeds). Finding the various things needed for the camp was so pleasant, once. Who liked to come back with a cart full of ropes or iron understands.
- The best clothing in the game (seal fur) is not available because seals are gone. So players look like cavemen and usually wear mouflon or sheep skins.
- Griefing ... those who specialize in killing can do it with impunity. They simply ride the map and kill random people without consequences. A dozen people in each life.
- Paranoia - everyone is so afraid of grieferów that ordinary players are murdered for the shadow of suspicion. Sometimes over a dozen people are killed in this way even without griefers.
- I no longer feel attached to my family - in the constant chaos of murders I do not know who is right and who is not.

Update plus:

- It's easy to find equipment now.
- If you don't know where your family's town is (because someone killed your mother) you can find it easily.
- Some players trying to play normally (endangered genre).

I do not see more pluses. This game is now a playground for a handful of assholes.

Ahh... and some griefers are probably doing something weird with the game code. Who else saw them teleporting or moving unnaturally quickly?

#109 Re: Main Forum » Use your poll system Please » 2019-07-31 17:43:41

That's true, but you introduced these things to make the game more interesting, right?

Because players are bored and walk away ...

But most of the players leave because game it's too difficult for them before they get bored.

Additional obstruction of the game does not help in anything but rather works in the opposite way.

Swords and a slit are a very dubious attraction, even for experienced players.

A bit like someone who has tied up his hands and said, "You get bored? Now try to do it without the help of your hands."

Will it be interesting?

Rather frustrating.

#110 Re: Main Forum » Use your poll system Please » 2019-07-31 16:58:10

You have come to wrong conclusions.

This game loses players because it is difficult first of all.

Not because it is boring.

Players generally do not have the patience to fight the rules on GitHub by themselves.

Before they get bored with the game, they leave.

To be a fairly good player you need to spend a hundred hours in the game (maybe more).

The game requires a better tutorial.

What you do continuously increases the level of difficulty, so the effect will be counterproductive.

#111 Re: Main Forum » Feedback Regarding Trading » 2019-07-31 16:37:09

I am writing that both systems are devil's worth.

Only worries me that people are taking on all these ideologies, and are fighting for other people's profits, and are killing themselves so that someone who has 95% of the planet's resources has even more.

#112 Re: Main Forum » Huge Flaws that need to be fixed » 2019-07-31 16:31:30

Just remove these damn swords and remove this damn slit.

Then again, different families will be able to live in one city.

Griefers will not have the power as now.

Many people troll because it is frustrated with the world you created.

That is why they are constantly trying to finish the cycle.

Besides, many peaceful players have gone.

Griefers and new players have been left.

I remember earlier that the cities of Quin existed for a few days.

I was also in a city where there were two alien Eve graves, so everything lasted longer.

The most important thing - creating cities must make sense.

It can not be on the principle - nothing is permanent and we are constantly starting again.

How many times can you do this?

It's not funny.

Quote from Karl Marx.

The socialists already in the nineteenth century predicted that people too "backward" should be annihilated.

You know little about how a criminal ideology was socialism at the ideological level.

However, I understand your point - the idea of introducing one family for all people is great.

Unfortunately, this was only invented to take power and murder opponents.

It's always like that.

Beautiful ideas are invented.

Millions are murdered in their name.

And when everything ends, the same people are still in power.

Or rather, the same evil.

I am starting to fall into a depressive mood, so I finish.

#115 Re: Main Forum » Feedback Regarding Trading » 2019-07-31 13:46:51

In the game we have a tribal community, the most perfect system in the history of mankind, not communism.

#116 Re: Main Forum » Trade possible? » 2019-07-31 13:24:09

At present, trade is not possible.

Thank you for your attention.

#117 Re: Main Forum » Feedback Regarding Trading » 2019-07-31 13:20:50

As a person from a post-communist country (Poland), I can compare both great systems.

And I will tell you: we are slaves in one and in the other.

Capitalism is only a system that is horribly hypocritical.

Although communism in the first phase is criminal - wherever it happens, it kills about 10% of the population.

So for the admirers of communism - look at this documentary:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1OZYoxaJ2Y

And for the admirers of capitalism - do you know how many days the poor peasants worked for their master?

About 52 days.

And how much do we work to pay all taxes?

7 months.

Do you feel free?

Just because you do not see your shackles does not mean they do not exist.

And back to the subject I have a strong suspicion about how Jason wants to force us to trade.

I'm guessing that he wants to go back to a crazy concept in which only one family can hunt rabbits, the other can make bowls, etc.

This, of course, completely blow the game to pieces.

jasonrohrer wrote:

The problem with communism is that it depends on FORCING people to cooperate even if they don't want to.  And you can't FORCE someone to do something they don't want to do without a violence.

Yes, yes, people do not like to be forced.

When they are forced, they start to escape from the box.

Big evil is a small ollj.

And then the little oiij complains that he can not play, because bad people send him to the Donkey Town.

You defeated the crazy dev Jason. smile smile smile

It's beautiful!

LOL.  You're a kid.

#123 Re: Main Forum » My Fear » 2019-07-27 17:37:57

Sigh. Well, maybe you just have enough of this game?

Maybe game was not as succed as you expected?

So that you do not have to worry about new updates every week, have you decided to discourage players?

There are no players, no problem.

You can start to make next game.

If that's the case, just say it honestly and stop spoiling what you've done.

This is of course the so-called conspiracy theory, but I can not understand your behavior, Jason.

#124 Re: Main Forum » One method to get rid of bears safely » 2019-07-27 10:47:45

This is a good guide for novice players.

Good job.

#125 Re: Main Forum » So where did we, the players, go wrong? » 2019-07-27 10:37:14

Your mother had 49 siblings.

What???

And you 26 children ....

Even in times of steam apocalypse, no one had so many children.

What's going on?

With such fertility, even a well-organized city would have a problem with food.

Such a small camp without water had no chance.

No matter what the players do,it's simply impossible.

So, in addition to the lack of resources, there is still a huge number of children being born (and dying).

I wonder if it would be possible to survive by the very best experienced players in this camp?

I do not think so.
