(And you hide your knife there too, huh)
Are you the murderer? XD
I see food in a basket. I pick up the basket. I click on myself. Nothing happens. I try to click on the actual food in the basket. I click on myself. Still nothing happens.
I die of starvation.
How do I eat?
you don't pick up the basket. You instead right click the item in the basket instead. Further, you could be an infant that you can't pick anything up.
Haha, I got killed by knife.
Farming berries
Don't.
Love this one.
You basically need renewable milkweed. If you're talking about how much is needed to found a new colony, take seeds instead.
But once again, you are stuck with getting those 8 wild milkweed because you still need a bowl to carry water.
...the problem is that most people are not settling in fresh lands and instead continue to try to explore the same lands as before after killing them.
This is where 3rd stage becomes a stalemate because you can hardly find milkweed seed around because people just touch those unfruited wild milkweed for fun.
How does this benefit the future generations if they cannot find the carrots?
I'm still very early and confused with how to play and do anything but die, so perhaps my comment means nothing.
Sometimes, you are trying to save one patch of carrot for seeding; with people hungry and then people eat, you would never be able to save carrot seeds. Frankly, you really can't save everyone. Some players are smart enough to leave the settlement when food doesn't go well.
Agree.
Since clothing is a luxury, blooming settlement doesn't need that many people running around for food; it's actually more economic for naked people to stay near fire to conserve food instead. Of course, if there are way too many naked around the fire, the settlement would absolutely be in trouble no matter what.
Further, I notice that my moving speed and my hunger rate are improved once I get to ~15; so having a starting-to-grow-hair child to work actually eats up alot more food than we think.
Let's start with the basic that can be found in the wiki:
2 milkweed stake > 1 thread
4 milkweed stake > 2 thread > 1 rope
So here's how many milkweed stake we would need so that a settlement can (hopefully) survive. Please note that I am not including other ingredients in the information below because this is just a breakdown for milkweed stake.
During the 1st stage:
4 milkweed stake > 2 thread > 1 rope > bow drill bow
4 milkweed stake > 2 thread > 1 rope > stone hatchet
Now, for the 2nd stage, if the settlement do not mind carrying water one bowl at a time for irrigation, then, the settlement would only need the above 8 milkweed stakes to start farming. Frankly, those precious threads are better used for clothing at this stage.
Then for the 3rd stage, if the settlement prefer carrying a basket of 3 empty water pouches to get water instead, here are the extra stakes needed:
4 milkweed stake > 2 thread > 1 rope > snare
6 milkweed stake > 3 thread > 3 empty water pouch
I cannot comment whether if 8 WILD milkweeds is reasonable or not to begin a survivable settlement but I think at least the outcome is contributed by either teamwork or a lucky solo-survivor.
The water container thing is interesting... I haven't met a community using that though; I guess I should start doing that.
nice idea, I found people hiding basket of meat before as well.
I think as of this patch, one biggest issue beginner need to understand is Milkweed because Milkweed is not abundant.
Those wild things aren't sustainable at all. Right now, the game is more towards about growing carrots until you can grow wheat.
Server side should increase those "wild" production rate when the server gets more popular.
However, people got to be smart when you need to be brave to leave the settlement when too many babies are born.
There should be the ability to make wells or at least have other ways for water to regenerate. Like, rain or rivers that refill the groundwater levels or something.
He probably planned for that

But once again, these are also exhaustible. People are playing this like Don't Stave where you only live for ~10 hours just to get to final boss, which is wrong because such strategy in Don't Stave is not sustainable.
As for now, players just need to be taught about the game mechanic where you don't...
kill animals if there is no young one beside it
empty pond water (~4 times) until it refill
domesticate berry bush as it consume that fertile soil and if that berry bush dried up and died, your precious fertile soil is gone with it
