Well I could see a resource that spawns at a low enough rate so that it hinders growth and forces people to move. Like if the ponds just refilled of one unit every hour, and that they would stay dry when they are empty for instance. Restarting over and over the same tech tree in similar environment does not seem very interesting. Plus, it will be a bummer to migrants when they stumble upon a vast area that is already constructed but devoid of resources.

But well, this is still in its early phase, let's see where it goes.

So it took me a while to get this right. I had wondered why some times the stump would grow back and some times not. The trick is to harvest the milkweed only when it is fruiting (after the flowering stage). Any other time will lead to a stump that eventually dies.

I wonder if water is supposed to be a finite resource in the longer term? After all, water is the textbook example of the renewable resource that has to be managed in a well-managed way. It sounds strange that the idea behind this game would be to just roam across the world until it is totally depleted of resources. But I would still roll with it...

Pies are really super energetic (18+ for a berry rabbit carrot pie) and can be contained in bags and backpacks. However the water consumption really goes up when you need wheat and an additional water for dough.

I guess that's perfect food for a long expedition.

What is supposed to be the "endgame"? Moving around with chariots once resources are depleted?
It is interesting that two people can carry some stuff but an exodus would be far easier with more people to transport tools, foods, utensils, etc...

It seems fixed! It made me discover that domestic berries are actually 4 cal, I never noticed that.

I did not count how much it was when I ate the pie (8 according to the stats). Which makes me wonder of the point of making a pie: it is a lot of work and we end up wasting berries, as it takes a whole bush for a pie but it only gives energy corresponding to two berries.

How about the pie being a container and we would only eat a part of it each time?

Nope same as 10 hours ago. And also the stats on the main page saying

"2419 lives lived for a total of 202.22 hours
70 people lived past age fifty-five
3 generations in longest family line"

do not update either.

The idea of wear-marks are good! I would love to be able to track wolves actually. If there could be a way to do both at once it would be interesting.

Rivers would make a lot of sense. Follow them to find a workable fording. Which would make it a natural place to put something if you want to meet/help/ransom other players. Building a bridge over a river is a good motivation to build something.

Follow the river and end up at the sea. The delta is another logical place for a settlement to appear.

I think it is broken. It has not changed in a while (and I ate a lot more carrots and rabbits than that!)

OK forget about it. It is not that hardcore as Eve when you get the hang of it...

Just a quick note: you don't need to unequip a backpack to take from it. Just right click on it and it will take the last item you put in. Super convenient when you pack correctly.

Alright, let's beat this game.

So it is hard. I get it. It is hard as a 15 yo Eve with no baby to start crafting stuff. It is nigh impossible doing the same with a baby. So here is the deal: the goal is to make the game easier to the next generation and to start as hunter-gatherers. Well, as gatherers for now. As we quickly deplete the berry/carrot resources of the place we start in, we have to move often.

What I am doing as of now is that I'll try to make baskets (take stone, sharpen stone on big rock, cut reed with sharp stones, use reed on another reed to have a basket) and fill it with berries/carrots. Abandon the full basket somewhere, rinse, repeat, move to another place. Hopefully, this will help the next generation.

Something that greatly helps survival is a backpack. It is more complicated to get there though. It takes 5 rabbits to make one. If you see rabbit skin, please do not use it for clothing, keep it for backpacks.

In a similar spirit, gather snares (take a branch, cut it three times with sharp stone to get stakes, get 2 milkweed to get a string, 2 strings to get a rope. Rope+stake=snare) and spread them around if you can. Make strings or ropes if you stumble on milkweed.

We can do it.
