I personally get tired of living in the same old towns all week. There isn't anything to do late-game besides roleplaying and working.
I think it's time we got an upgrade for these machines. Kerosene wick burners would make things a little easier and give us more time. It would be even better if we could eventually run them on internal combustion engines.
Thanks for the guide, It's nice knowing exactly what you need. Helps me be more efficient with the machines. I wouldn't be opposed to getting kerosene or even diesel engine powered rollers, bores, hammers, and lathes.
To think that smithing used to be considered advanced.
We can still RP as Santa ourselves and give all the bad kids a basket of charcoal!
I'm glad to see some more complex crafting, I always wondered what machines would be like. It is sorta weird that we're using oil but still have use clay kilns, ovens, baskets, and loincloths. Cities are such a mix of low and high tech.
Put them in a zoo

I was abandoned by mother, who refused to feed or name me. I was fed by a lady nursing babies but I didn't get my name until I was an adult. I didn't mind since I was a dude anyways, wouldn't be passing on my namelessness. I and a few others worked to relive the compost crisis and save the town from dying off.
Once compost started getting made things started going well. I continued on with my work along with some wheat and carrot farming. My mother refused to acknowledge my existence, She said nothing when I told her I forgave her for abandoning me. I don't blame her as I was born during a baby boom, I shared the nurse's tit with 3 other babies who I never saw again.
I rung the bell for fun and moved on with my life. The town had a room with a bunch of weapons locked away, A man tried to break into it but the walls were ancient. Perhaps one day the key will be found or a new one created. Shame that they had also locked away a couple backpacks.
In my middle age, someone cut all the wheat and I had to recreate the farm. Most of the surrounding savannas where devoid of resources. Unexpectedly I came across an unknown man, A dude from another Land. http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=2223866
He said that he had come because of the bell, I wonder if I was the one responsible for leading him here. Honestly, I would have much rathered a female so that we could've been multilineage but it was nice meeting him. We had a sudden lag spike (Time Froze), That event killed most of the town. I am glad it did because it solved our overpopulation issue and created a surplus.
Unfortunately one of our girls was a griefer. Thankfully she didn't stab the other girl but instead went for a random boy. My Grandmaison ended up killing her. What a waste of space, I fed him some pie and life went on. Passed my things onto some young men and died.
Stylingirl wrote:It's not that hard to upgrade it though. As long as you're not completely out of iron and branches you can easily make the pump. If your town is out of iron and branches then that town was going to die anyways.
To reiterate, as the pump doesn't refill itself there is no use of a second pump next to an existing one. You are basically just destroying wells, if you finish the pump or not.
You may as well upgrade deep wells when they dry out. Wells gives a lot initially after building them, Once they dry they are very slow to refill.
More pumps mean we can mass produce water and store it all in cisterns for later use.
I've done everything besides making Tacos and dog breeding. I've never had a crazy Eve run that lasted 30+ gens, Never been able to get them to last more than 10 generations.
I prefer to classify them based on size and tech level.
Sounds more like unintentional griefing that noobs do. Most this will do is delay things but most of these are an easy fix. The Bear one will only kill noobs and is actually a pretty effective population control.
You didn't even mention killing all sheep or domesticating pigs and goose.
You can always check your family tree to see if they lived. Personally, I've never had triplets/Quads that lived, They all just die immediately.
I wouldn't say Goose eggs are Zero-Input. You still need plates, fire, and Flatrock. You don't just eat em raw. Eventually, towns build wells over the ponds and move on to other foods.
Cactus Fruits are infinite and zero input but you only get one per plus they can only be harvested in a 5 min window.
Bananas, on the other hand, have multiple per harvest and can be eaten instantly. The Mosquitoes don't really balance them out for various reasons, Obviously, you can make a blanket of objects, You can also be lucky to have trees on the jungle edge with few mosquitoes around.
No need to invest in farms, That means no worries about soil or water.
That town still going, Just lived a life there. The place is now a decent sized city, although the berry farm is a bit too big. There were a few griefers, strangely they all older dudes that randomly snapped and killed someone. The first guy starved after shooting a random little girl, Then a crown guy was killed a decade later. Sorry to all the babies that I let die, including twins several times. Had to execute some because other people kept feeding them, I was worried about killing adults because I didn't wanna get cursed or murdered.
Few kids lied about not being new and ended up dying early. Tried to teach daughter composting but she ran off.
When I was old, another dude stabbed a random girl and I killed him. He claimed it was an accident but he was trying to run off, He lied about building this place and finally showed his true colors by insulting me with his last words. Ty to townies for feeding me.
I don't know about the mother-less /die but I do know that I wouldn't suicide from every eve/noob town I find because then I never would find any place decent. We got a low of 400 players as I am typing this very late at night in North America, where I'd assume the majority of the population lives in.
That means that since the population is still skyrocketing, expect a high of 500 players tomorrow, maybe more, and more than 400 at its least populated hour. Before the steam release, like the day before, we had <20 players on at its low and barely 50 at its high.
How do you expect only ~10% of the before steam release players, to somehow make a settlement where the other 90% of players cant get to and only THAT specific settlement will be "noobless". It's just not possible, and frankly, it won't be possible for a long time, at the rate the game is expanding, there will be large influxes of noobs everytime some major streamer or youtuber takes a look at the game.
The thing is, while I do agree that new players especially don't really use or know about /die and it SHOULD be easier to suicide, I don't agree with why you're suiciding, or with the execution of /dieing. Expecting an oasis in a desert isn't going to happen, dismissing noobs is the WORST way to advance the game right now, it's just not a healthy mindset. If all pro players constantly suicided and never stayed in an eve/noob settlement, we wouldn't be ANYWHERE, even if you do happen to find an advanced civ, chances are it A) won't last long, and B) is still overrun with steam users who don't know anything but berry eating.
TL;DR I kinda agree with the OP's idea, but I don't agree with his reason, noobs are what makes this game thrive.
Not all the noob towns, Just ones that are doomed to fail. Like I'm not staying in a town with barely any soil and a yellow berry farm and 5 other babies also crying for food. I don't enjoy being a babysitter for steam users.
I just wanna self-lineage ban myself from bad towns. I found that most people will not stab a baby even if you spell out "Kill me" to them, even saying FU doesn't make them do it. To them, it's easier to let me starve then suffer the murder penalty and risk being killed themselves.
I don't want to starve because I'll just be born back to that town over and over.
That's a very specific situation, Besides if it's running then it's stupid anyway. Nobody should be running to suicide, the opposite in fact. Just seems a little backward that you can only suicide if your mother wants to keep you.
I've been finding /die quite useful since the steam people came. It's helped a lot for ruling out noob camps in my quest to find a decent town, I've been suiciding more than I ever have....
But not all the mothers will feed you, This leaves me starving in a town over and over. That or they will pick up and drop you real fast, making it harder to /die. Any particular reason why we need to relay on our mums for suicide?
I wouldn't worry about this yet, Jason does not actually advance tech that often. It will take him years to get to this point.
Jason, I can't really say I miss the drama. While it can be fulfilling to stop the occasional griefer, Constant troll management was never fun for me. There always used to be some idiot trying to cause "Drama" every single life, I'd rather not relive that.
I don't know how much griefing you've actually seen for yourself, At some point, you said you hadn't even been murdered yet. All you see is statistics and a few stores, Those stories are usually the best case scenario for a griefer encounter. At some point, I'd given up on cities because of the ridiculous crime rate, Slasher Villains, Twin griefers, Self-righteous "Thanos Griefers" I've seen it all. Nothing wrong with the occasional antagonist but the novelty wears off when it's almost every life.
This is a lot cleaner than the current solution. No more repeat suiciders, no more having to murder every kid that doesn't want to live, no more having to ask every child if they want to stay. Having baby bones decay much faster would also be welcome.
I don't have a problem with it being instant, With the lineage, ban applied we won't have to experience this nearly as much. Less hassle overall.
jasonrohrer wrote:They are MILK COWS. No beef.
If that is the reason, then give us the ability to raise Beef Cows. Bowl of Corn Kernels+Cow= Milk Cow. Bowl of Grass+Cow= Beef Cow.
Maybe make it so you have to feed the cow three times, once every 5 minutes in order to get a beef cow and we could use crushed wheat (Wheat+Round Rock= Crushed wheat, Crushed wheat+bowl= bowl of crushed wheat), so you don't have to add a whole new other item to the game.
Yeah, We have been asking for Beef for ages now. Ever since cows were first released. Also Leather. Wonder how many people asked for paint?
I knew this would bring out some baby suiciders on the forums. Seems like most of them were lurkers, Understandly considauring most people have nothing but distain towards you people.
I can understand some suicides, Like if your a boy I'm not gonna stop you if you insist. Infact, I'd be more then willing to provide you with a lineage ban as that benefits us all. I do think it's cunty to suicide on the same person many times, It's quite frustraiting for me when over half my babies are runners and I only end up with a couple sons.
I don't think Awbz is always very accurate, like it may you there are fertile females around they could be about to go grey. "Oh look, Awbz says this town got 2 fertile females already bye!". You suicide on them assuming they will be fine but they only have boys and girl suiciders and the line dies out. But I'm glad you won't knowingly suicide if you know that your the last, Many will have no mercy and suicide anyway.
I do agree that it's a waste of resources to try and force a suicider to stay unesseraily, Obviously the best solution is to put you down and stab you so you don't keep coming back again and again.
I do find it interesting that you say "The game is nothing to me without parenthood" so you literally only play to have babies. You say this while actively depriving other players of parenthood, The most importent thing from your prespective. You've been in situations where most/all your babies have relentlessly suicided, Perhaps you could see why some would want to hold onto you.
Maybe you could try sticking with some lives you wouldn't normally, Maybe a change of scenery will do you some good.
Worked great for me, Lived my first life on the steam version http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=1271801
One weird thing was that the playtime wasn't working, It tells me I've only played for a minute despite living a full life.
Curse
Help! (Says repeatedly instead of naming the killer)
He/She killed
He/She was a griefer
Don't heal them (Me when I stab a known griefer and someone goes to heal them thinking they are doing a good deed)
Can you feed my baby?
We need girls
Don't shear the last sheep (Tells me when There's a mouflon in the pen)
Water berries until older
