Make everyone have sex with everyone else, constantly, until there was nothing left of the Earth, but a ball of flesh, with humans as each of the cells.

Oh, you mean the game?

Same.

I was going to comment how there is no Ursa Middle-oris, in the sky, just Ursa Majoris and Ursa Minoris, but in looking for the latin word for middle, I looked up the definition of Majoris
RFTj4Po.png

and I found it interesting that it means ancestors.

Qkfamkf.png

Also Mayor and Major, I took latin in school and it's just dawning on me, this connection.
Even after teaching astronomy so long and say "Ursa Majoris" like 5,000 times, I never even bothered to look up just what Majoris meant. We always just called it "Ursa Majoris, The Great Bear"
I thought it meant great...

Then there is Ursa Minoris "The Little Bear"
How much you want to bet, Mino does not mean little?

Seriously, I had't even looked it up, either. I was going to say $5.

4KVoF7N.png

I had a great story, I loved to tell, about a Native American myth regarding Ursa Major and Ursa Minor, and why there was a mother and baby bear in the sky. I've repeated it over a 1,000 times. Here, I didn't even know, Major and Minor, meant ancestor and descendant. I would have added that, connection, from time to time, in my stories, had I only known.

Imagine when people went from before writing, before history, to a life with records from the past?
Imagine before we had stories, or spoke.

My Little Pony had it all wrong,
it's racism that's magic.

And magic is just someone being dumb, while someone else takes advantage of the unknown.

But oh, wasn't it great to be a child?
Can't we just be naive, forever?
NO!
Grow up.

Grow up, down and all around.
Just stop pretending you are still just a naive little seed.

Plans don't mean a thing without Tom Bailey, or someone else, cracking a real whip on Jason, and Jason doing the same on someone else. We are not enough for Jason. We're not real people in his mind, we're text. Users on his servers; sources of input, in HIS data.

He needs real friends, not comments, emails, posts, or anything delivered to him via Mercury.

Saturn needs a Jupiter, a Venus, and a Mars, to sit with him for awhile atop Olympus.

Or he's just going to be Jewish and pretend to himself, he can do everything.

--

When he and Tom went their ways on this project, he took on twice the responsibility, but he also took twice the stress, and it has exceeded his threshold for tolerance, time and time again. Yet he has come back; rebounded, time and time again.

And don't bitch about specific numbers, like 10k or 2, it's work divided by time, no matter what you choose for the variables.

You understand.
So does Jason.

All that matters is what he does.
Now, who are we, in the meantime?

I don't like the map either, it's nice that is procedurally generated but nothing has a value then there is no gameplay reason to stick with a town. imagine zones with a central mine, could be iron, water, even clay. A town with infinite clay would do a different playstyle than a town with infinite water. Not infinite but a possibility to be way higher than others. OFC it would need item values and such, and semi-automated markets.
Maybe a way to do the same result with different paths. As for limiting tech, could be linked to the family tech tree and not skin colour. You would have 3 high tech options to choose from and it will always be that for your family. That would more likely make your town valuable and your choice more adaptive.

i Love how you capitalize the first letter of every sentence, except, the first.

Good compact use of space!

Indeed!

And also for not taking branches from nearby trees that less experienced players could be gathering a single branch at a time from. Not only does it save on personal travel time, but also affords others the convenience of the shorter trips if you are collecting them from grasslands afar, where you are also away from the local, limited, food supply.

Anyone reading this, please do consider the amount of time you spend traveling out and back in an early civ and try to keep in mind, we are most productive in this game when we are running through the A+B=C+D combinations as quickly as possible, not when we are running about, empty handed, searching for a single item.

Combine this sort of activity with good communication skills between an Eve and her children and everyone in a fresh civilization will make the most of their time, as the Eve informs each subsequent child of the direction and intent they ran off for, so as to minimize overlap passing by areas where the branches have already been pulled off, when needed, the milkweed has been plucked, or the wild food supply has been reduced.

Wanted to mention something else, but this reply has been sitting in a tab for hours. Just want to post it.
Thanks for mentioning this, Spoon.

Also, this is a forum for OHOL. Why are you even posting about YAH here?

The mix of Boxes and SlotBoxes can change depending on the room use, but I prefer Tables over Boxes in most situations as it makes the contents of the container a lot more visible and 'usable'.

Looks about right.

7x7 rooms ftw

7x7 floorplan, yes, the one Cogito pointed out. I think that's the best compromise between warmth and indoor storage. But anything between 5x5 and 11x11 is okay, just stand near the center of anything bigger than 6x6 and you'll get the bonus, unless it's 12 or more in either direction, then you might as well save resources and work outside... I'm looking at you, smiths who insist on making 13x9 rooms...

That graphic makes me sad ... good bye indoor bonus, hello efficient room size.

Knowledge should never make you sad, but glad, that you are more informed than you were prior to having received it.

It's not as if things have changed because of this information, the indoor bonus has worked this way for a long time. I just can't remember anyone putting out a good description of how it scales to the size of the building. Perhaps Jason will revisit this mechanic and things will change. I, for one, would like to see gradients in the indoor bonus, rather than simply one existing or not existing.

I haven't examined the code, but the way I think of it is, if you are standing in a floored room of any size, if you check in any direction and there is not a wall within 6 tiles, the tile you are standing on will not have an indoor bonus.

In other words.

There must be a wall within 6 tiles of every direction.

I think other checks are made to be sure the entire area is floored and the walls (closed doors included) enclose the entire area.

It doesn't make much sense to me that a floor of 6x6 has 36 indoor bonus tiles, but a floor of 12x1 has 0 indoor bonus tiles, when the 12x1 has 1/3 the floorspace.

But in regards to the idea of gradients, perhaps a check could be made and the bonus given based on the number of tiles in the furthest direction. So the game would do something like, check for floors and walls in all directions, and if the longest distance to a wall is 5 or less, give 100% of the indoor bonus based on the tiles looked at. If it's 6, give 90%. 7, 80%, 8 70, 9 60, 10 50, 11 40, 12 30, 13 20 and 14 10%.

Then, an 11x11 room would be more like this
sSrcmC3.png
instead of this
C6pjMEj.png

Obviously the first one is better; it's more colorful.

And, just because I can:

I was the first view on these 3 videos.

What do I think about this (the game)? Mostly positive. I have to acknowledge my own bias when it comes to One Hour One Life and any offshoots of it. I am initially tempted to feel it will not be as good as the original, because I have put so much time into the original, but, that bias aside, I would love to see more games like OHOL, and with many of it's mechanics, on the market.

I will do my best to keep an open mind, and not think of this as merely a One Hour One Life clone.

Had I seen this without knowing it had any relation to OHOL, I would likely give it a try, were I in the mood for such a game.
OHOL satiates my desire for this genre, as is, but there are millions of people out there who I am certain would enjoy a game like this, perhaps, even more so than OHOL, given what I have seen of the colors and textures, as well as the animation.

Looks like a very ambitious project and I encourage everyone behind it to work hard and make it's market release the most successful possible for a game of this type.

And if you are curious about the relationship between the size of the room and the number of tiles inside that give indoor bonus:
dkNchDC.gif

Getting that indoor bonus is critical to saving on food, water, iron, oil and labor.
It matters a lot when it comes to determining the things your family, and anyone else that inhabits that town, will do, over the course of their habitation, in and around these structures.

30 extra days of freedom... judge said I should look for a job if I get the opportunity.
He applauded me for my effort in checking in with the local lumbermill/rehabilitation center, but they aren't hiring, they doubly aren't hiring, due to the season, and, the virus.
I really was looking forward to either cutting up firewood or working in a lumbermill, but neither avenues have yielded a job.

I don't know what to do, but it sure as shit isn't going to be gettin into any more fist fights with assholes.

Now, what to do with this game?

I played yesterday and this morning without streaming and it felt great. I miss not being mic'd and not having to play like I'm streaming, so, I'm probably going to do that. Sorry to the 5 people that watched me each day, but I need some time to myself, while still playing the game like a relentless addict.

I really do love the fact that I can stream videos of me being in the woods, in between lives, and people are okay with that, for the most part. I may even do some special challenge videos, maybe try to make some stuff in the game, in the wild, for real, and not just buy props at thrift stores.

Lot of other positive ideas I'd like to share, but I'm not even sure at this point how I MIGHT go about implementing them, so I'm not even going to mention them.

I'm falling asleep in the middle of writing this message. I'm pretty tired, but I'm glad I didn't sleep through court, like I may have done in the past. Now, time to get some real sleep.

You can watch more of the stream before or after that moment as long as it's available on Twitch https://www.twitch.tv/videos/826058714 and judge for yourself, if you are wondering whether I am a bad person or not, when playing.

It was a rare moment, spurred on by a few different physical pains, and, a desire to just give in.
I'm not proud or ashamed of it, it was a humorous thought.

I wish I could fully explain the last 3 years of my life to the person in this video to make them understand, and I do hope the are not scarred for life.

Consider this a confession if you like, but I always try to be transparent about who I am, what I think and how I feel.

Ah, a breath of fresh air.

My apologies for the delayed response, I was going to leave a link behind the word breath in that last sentence, but I did this exercise (same link) just now, and I feel like a different being.

Growing up on Lake Huron for nearly my entire life, I swam a lot. I especially loved to swim underwater; eyes open, chest loaded with oxygen, fighting the viscosity of fluid while struggling with my buoyant tendency, I would slowly let out CO2 as it accumulated in my lungs, while the soft mud, tickling sand and smooth silt brushed against my chest. I learned to breathe in new ways, thanks to a story I'd read in school, called The Black Pearl and I was always eager to find new ways to keep my body underwater for longer and longer, so that I, could perhaps, find a mermaid girlfriend, someday.

Alas, I had to conclude, no mermaids had made it up Niagara Falls into the four upper Great Lakes.
