So a bunch of people running around naked not bothering to cloth up even though I'm literally serving up bunnies by the cartloads.

I found a few old posts and graphs on pip drain rate Vs temp but not sure if they are still valid - like betame's and Crazy Eddie's thread

I haven't gather any hard data but it feels like diminishing returns is still a thing the close you get to ideal temperature?

I seem to find a massive difference just having a loincloth versus completely naked.

PSA: please cloth up at least with a diaper dammit, I don't want to see your sausage or bearded clam

I mean you can gain rank there. I was going to afk to see if I could reach max score but I only got six points from one life.

Its ELO based, if you reach 60 another life there you will gain 5.4 points. It will take a butt load of lives idling in tutorial to reach near 60 though.

i dont get the scoring system either. Like i have dedicated one life on revenging my mum i killed 7 people and did nothing at all (not my usual jam im against grieving 99% of the time) i got more score in that life then in a life working my ass of like a robot and caring for my kids. how does that give the right incentive? also i died at 52 when i went on a murder spree and got to 60 on the robot life. i really dont get why that gave me more score tho ...

Which life came first? It's easier to gain points when you start off at a lower score.

well, you notice that by just having a mass starvation. this is a problem that instantly solves itself.

No it won't lol, you still have a griefer with a knife.

So what, you're gonna start banning bows too? Also, what if the griefer is the cook themselves? And he wields the only knife.

Also, knives wil likely get more use with advancing tech in the future.

Don't bother Hope, some people think they deserve a red carpet to a perfectly run town every time and won't try to solve problems themselves

Huh, die babies are not supposed to affect ratings. They died of starvation maybe?

Nigg sounds like a valid family name. I think it's German?

I mean I don't think the scores matter that much. Only if you care about being the best potential mom which is only one very specific thing you can be good at. I would assume some people are going to care about it but for me it has zero impact. I don't even know who any of those people on the leaderboards are and unless you provide proof of being or not being someone we're all rank one and not rank one at the same time.

The bonuses for raising kids is nice but besides that I probably won't check the leaderboard at all in its current state.

Yeah, you can only bring horse to the water. But at least there's water now?

Funny how people telling what an average player life is reveals more about themselves and their view on other players than what it actually is. big_smile

"Isn't average just sit and rp?" Says a person who is angry at others standing around and sees them as slackers.
"Isn't the average a derp who farms zillion carrots?" Says a person who is overwhelmed by newbies.
"Average is an equipment leeching brat" Says a person who sees others as greedy and lazy, the average being demanding kids who should earn their stuff.

To me, average player life is...
- Not started with a chain of /die. It was proven that it's a small minority who abuses it, not the average player.
- Ends in starvation. Proven by multiple charts of player death reason. Majority starves, so average must be starvation in one way or another.

Interesting observation and how right you are. I am always cursing at these RPing royals and wishing I could just unleash a bomb that releases magic crown-seeking knives that kill everyone wearing a crown. Guess I'm also quite horrible.

Sooo many players seemed obsessed with backpacks.  The temperature overhaul doesn't seem to have changed things in that respect.

I think it's more of ignorance. If I were a female that stays in town to farm, I would vastly prefer a shoes, a loincloth and a cap over a backpack. Think it at least halves food consumption. The backpack does nearly jack for me if I only farm carrots and tend sheep.

Heck, as a male I would still prefer clothes over a backpack and then I will decide if I need one for whatever job I decide to pursue later

This game has little to no UI so I suspect many new players don't even know backpack provides 0 insulation.

#142 Re: Main Forum » The average life of the average player » 2019-06-27 02:14:39

This is certainly not me at least.
But yes, I think at least 1/3rd of people don't really play for the town's survival - either they RP, troll, or think they are some hotshot battle royale player who runs around with a bow and loot things.

#143 Re: Main Forum » Disability representation in OHOL » 2019-06-25 09:35:58

But overall though, no pressure Jason. I don't see this concept being worthwhile until perhaps the very last updated. big perhaps though

#144 Re: Main Forum » Disability representation in OHOL » 2019-06-25 09:25:50

Awww , yoshio, don't be sad. I have an autistic younger brother too, so I know that feel.

I think some of us see this game as more of a artwork and pastiche of life as opposed to some players who see this a purely a game and will min-max conditions no matter the costs - killing a disabled baby included, or suiciding if you are born disabled.

Really though, disabled players can fill a niche. They can be good theoretical teachers, probably more so with wheelchairs.
Also, they can be an interesting challenge to a killing griefer I think?
You can be almost certain if someone kills a disabled person to be a griefer since disabled players are less able to grief themselves - unable to move fast, needs help with getting food. And they can actually tattletale when they see a griefer.

Then again, I guess a greifer could also be the disabled one and spready falsehoods - though I'm inclined to think griefers will insta-suicide if born disabled

Yeah, generation two is one of the best to play in if you really want to make a difference in a potential village as you have all the power to start cranking out major changes once a place has been decided. Gen 2 is probably one of the better time to play male (if you have a decent woman) because you can really get a lot done that normally might be a few hours off.

The only real downside to early play is it's very stale in the sense that you pretty much should know who should be doing what at all times and that if you're a decent player it's going to be a very focused hour of play. If you've never done twins+ in a gen 2 camp I very much recommend it if they'll risk keeping you as you can go from having a single hammer to prepping the oil rig in a single life which feels pretty amazing.

What is the earliest Gen you have seen that got an engine running?

To get an actually full done and running one? It probably could be done in Gen four to be honest. I've had a quad eve start that finished sheep pen/newcomen parts + all the attachments in our 46 minutes being alive (We were all veteran players so that obviously helped.) Depending on how long everything takes in a perfect world it would end up being something like

Gen one: Find spot, fetch iron for gen two.
Gen two: Get all the newcomen tech started start working on getting oil done.
Gen three: Get the oil rig finished and prepare to start engine
Gen four: Get the pump done.

Depending on how good you are and who is around to help definitely matters. If I have all the raw iron it takes about 26-30 minutes to pop out a diesel engine by myself. Oil is just tricky because all of the rng involved.

Woah slow down Turbo, you're gonna get the diesel pump nerfed. Is it quad eve on a low pop server?

Really? first time in gen 2? You have been around like two months now, lel.

Gen 2 is the most important, even above the Eve. With a decent girl and a few males on gen 2 even the worst Eve has a chance to get a long line. BTW I checked on a low pop server and it took me seven lives to make it to a working car. I´m guessing I can make it in six because oil wasn´t on my side (took me like 10 pipes). Better players can definitively make it in six (can anybody make it alone in five?? idk...) and a decent group should be able to reach a gen 5 working engine with ease.

Heh, you tell me, I almost never get born into early camps for whatever reason. Maybe I don't /die at all.
I think this is the second or third time truth to be told but I end up dying too fast as I was new and didn't even know my wild foods yet.
Also,I only play a life every other day past 3 weeks. I probably spend too much time on these forums haha, compared to my actualyplay time

Fluff post, but I want to know if a forumer was the player.

I was your only surviving son when you died with a basket of rope and iron ore in hand. What happened?
Anyway, this is my first true attempt at living out as a second gen. I hope I wasn't being disappointing.

When I saw your grave I set your bones beside the kiln. I figured I challenge myself to set up a forge and give you a proper burial before I pass on.
And so I did, and marked your grave with a carrot I was growing that you were looking probably looking forward to.

Thanks for the opportunity, Eve Tigert.

I can see it happening, but not by birth, i don't think its fair to make random people have a disadvantage to others.

But by murder/attack it could be.

Life isn't fair, so should this game be?

MultiLife has an interesting take though. I can totally see a less mobile player taking up a 'desk' job of being an administrator and to overseer operations instead of actively helping with manual labour.

Ugly as a concept is pretty meh, it's just a toon. Can't believe people suicide over some pixel vanity
