being able to shuffle though your backpack is absolutely great and was really needed
but
it is indeed a problem as normally putting an item with left click puts it in, but if it's different kind of food, you will eat it instead, even if your mouse is clearely on your backpack and not on yourself
Tree farming.
Deeper mines.
Well digging away from ponds. These things are required to keep a town alive. Make them complicated, like a deep mine requires an elevator, and dug wells needing an auger. Tree farming should just be realistically slow, like 30min/years for softwoods and 60min/years for hardwoods.
something like irrigation system, or even deeper water sources, because as it is now, even with the last update on water that increased greatly the amount of uses (i mean remember when ponds only had 5 uses, how did we ever survived with that
) as long as a city perdures a little bit, all deep wells are very quick dry
well it can't all be that bad, the past few weeks i've been twining, trippling and quadrupling regulary, and only have been killed once for being a twin.
any of those family line had any complains of us twining?

boggers wrote:Not being able to swap backpack items is my biggest gripe with this game, also accessing backpack behind a wolf hat is an issue.
So, if item switching in backpacks was an oversight, does that mean not being able to swap items in full containers is also an oversight?
Yes, the wolf hat thing is absolutely a problem. So much so that I refuse to wear one because it has screwed up my ability to access my backpack one too many times.
well if you can't access the backpack from the back, you can access it also through the strap on your chest
so far the 20 and above is the great majority with 20-30, 30-50 and 50+ very close to each other, with respectively 31%, 24% and 26% but only 42 persons have voted so far but as there are currently 50 persons playing atm, it's not quite yet an accurate estimation, but close.... it's almost european prime time and the americans are waking up now.
i just discovered that you can stack an empty basket on top of one that contains something
and didn't know you could still shear a dead sheep... was it added later ? cause i think at the begining you couldn't
otherwise, everytime i discovered one of those little features previously said
- getting one more adobe with shovel on reed stumps (i already knew about extra soil and clay)
- pie to mutton instead of mutton to pie (got the epiphany also by myself for that one, i felt so clever)
can't remember if i had others, but probably had ^^
it isn't so much a problem anymore, you can just swap backpack and clothes with babies... so if you have an empty backpack and apron just remove them then swap with the baby, tbh i also do that with elderly when i see they are too old but still cling to the knives for too long without looking for someone to give it away.
yeah in main server it's a bit tricky to get a high yum bonus, unless it's your goal and you personnaly make all the different foods for you. I usually get around 10-15, i try to ead different stuff all the time, but it's not always possible and can't stop what i'm doing to suddenly start to make tacos or burritos just to get a higher yum bonus.
But by myself in an empty server, i went 20+, don't remember exactly how much, maybe 24 or so, it's funny cause you can work till you die of old age without having to feed yourself at the end.
I also often see all my kids die of starvation in the middle of plentifull food.
And there might be a third reason for it... Players that have a lot of game play tend to overestimate their capabilities and often want to start working right away, forgeting that as a toddler your food bar is very little and need to eat more often.
One example that i see the most is players dying in the swamps because the first thing they want is a basket, so they eat once before leaving and since they need a sharpstone, they can't hold food, and by the time the basket is made, because they were on cold biome, their food bar dropped really fast and they are too far from a food source and starve.
So i always try to tell my kids that it's ok to be not that productive before they are like 10, and to wait till they big enough.
In big city there is usually a berry farm that they can tend while waiting to grow, but in an early camp, once they have hair, i often tell them to stay put and warm, that i'll keep feeding them and that i'll bring them a basket. Yet some still go away and die in the wilderness thinking they can do everything immediately.
Dying at 60 is kinda a lost of time and waist of food, better die between 55 and 59 ofc
Yeah I always let myself starve from 54+ and I know for a fact many others do it on purpose aswell.
your barely usefull and a huge food drain past 54. Its selfish to just keep eating in my eyes.
i kind of disagree on that one, although i understand the logic.
if you're clever about the yum bonus, you can pretty much spend your end of life without eating.
I like to work till the very end, plus i usually eat only berries or popcorn so the waste is minimalized, i'd like to think that the work i keep doing kind of compensate the bit of waste of food.
the bowl of snake antivenom is the most ridiculously worst.
It's preparation alone is insane.
As a prerequisite, you need to have sheep, medipads and knife.
So you have to make a fence post, then sacrifice 8 milkweed for a lasso and a sheepskin for a saddle that will be irremiedably lost. Find and capture a horse, tame it then intentionnaly kill it on a snake, then hit it with a knife and finally a bowl.
If someone gets bitten by a snake, it has to be lucky to be close enough to the city, to find someone that has a knife, that there are medipads and a fire on, and that someone knows what to do. By the time all that happens, the person is dead, not talking about the fact that most of the time you're too far from city.
Since the whole process involves a knife anyway, much easier to go and actually kill all the snakes around the city, at least we can get nice boots out of them, and the other snakes are too far from city to be healed anyway.
ohhh, So you cant curse until your able to say enough letters?
yes but you can curse someone up to two hours after his death, so if he dies before you, you can still curse him once you've got enough letters.
because you see it on the marker, the distances decreases if you run towards it and increases if you run away from it
i was the old guy making the floors around the berries, it seems to be a good mental trick to prevent ppl to overextand the field, it looked a good size if properly tended.
The grave pen wasn't supposed to stay, i was originally a graveyard, but someone came with a baby bison and we had no pen so i made it quickly, unfortunately it was released too early and it died before being fed, so stop calling people noobs when you don't know the story, i kept telling it was just a temporary quick fix untill a proper one could be built, i guess people are lazy and never got to it.
If you are compost maker, never water all the carrots at once, but one row at the time. If you do, all the carrots will grow at once, and if you have a lot of them, it's really a pain to harvest all, but not only it will it clutter all the space around, but people will start munching on them when they see them and are in need of food, and they'll be gone before you can make compost out of it.
If you are not the compost maker, then don't water carrots at all, it happens too often that all carrots are watered by someone bored wanting to be "usefull" then not harvested cause that person has moved on to something else and the actuall compost maker was probably buzy somewhere else (since they often combine the job with shepherd and helps in the pie making) and now all the carrots seeds, so we have no carrots for compost anymore.
On the subject of carrot seeds, if you see a field of seeded carrots, check around if some are already lying on the ground, if it's the case, don't pull all the carrot seeds, it will only clutter all the space, better to let them despawn, and if none are around, then just pull one row, 7 seeds is more than enough to start the process again.
yeah i was the uncle Peter
berries not so big when i started, but wells getting drained already, spent my childhood caring for them, was soil on the ground nearby. i also find and plant stew veggies. i'd later make one pot of stew.
was a wet compost pile but still no sheep
finally we have some, but nobody composting, so i put poop on it and wait.... once it was done, nobody had used it so i make milkweed farm to get rope to make buckets.
had spotte two branches nearby for stanchion when a girl start making a shaft with one of them, so i quickly take it away, finally get the deepwell up with another bucket
at this point, we only had berry munchers, berry farm amlost all yellowish so i take cart and baskets and make four trips to get soi and dump it by berry farm, but by the forth still nobody had used it to reshape the berries even though i keep telling them to care for them, finally show a boy how to do and he does it.
All the while we had that bear in camp, was bugged or something, didn't move anymore, but someone made arrows and shot it, so it started to move again and go immmediately mauled by it, so i scoop arrows and shoot the damn thing, that's where old lady tells that it was our pet, blah blah blah...
I take the cart again and go for iron and stones to finish other wells, on my way back due to display lag, i got biten by a wolf that wasn't even close to me, i run quick to camp hoping to make it on time to tell them the cart was NW and die just as i arrive there.
you might want to air your text a bit, make paragraphs to make it more readable ^^
Everyone just raised babies we didn't need. [...]
I had to kill one daughter because people were feeding her. I figured this would stop them from respawning immediately after to be born again to my useless sister. [...]
I killed noob sister who was spamming babies but then noob daughter killed me and acted like hero. [...]
has it ever occured to you that you migh be the reason they all died, by killing potential fertile women, thus preventing good players to be born and actually help the city ?
I have been born countless times in such settlements, with women popping babies without end while nobody taking care of the food, yet I almost always survive and then i'm able to help salvage the situation.
Killing off women popping babies isn't the solution, the starvation and survival of the fittest will take care of that.
When i have a noob daughter or sister, i often tell them their only job is to stay alive and pop more kids, in the hope we'll get some palyers that know what to do. Plus if you see they're noobs, why not teach them ? Your way they learned nothing and just thought you were an ass and you might be driving new players away.
Skewer seems to break almost on first use. I use it only as emergency to plant the last milkweed for next hoe.
next time, check what it says, you might be using a weak skewer, those always break on first use, but if you use freshly cut saplings, you get 6 to 10 uses out of it, sometimes you're unlucky and they break at 4. But on average, 3 fresh saplings might get you further than a stone hoe.
i like the idea
a good restriction would be that they run slower, just like if they carried heavy things. i think that would be a very good detereant of overeating.
of course a good balance would have to be found, cause sometimes you have no choice, it did happen that i ate omelettes or cactus fruit as infant or elderly cause there really was nothing else close enough.
in your settings folder there are two files you need to change.
First find the useCustomServer, inside it's either 0 (for no) or 1 (for yes), so if you want to play on a different server, you change it to 1 and save, once you're done and want to go back to main server, you set it to 0 and save.
Second is the customServerAdress, it initially says LocalHost, you change it for the adress of the server you want, either a private server that must be given to you by the server owner, or one of the official OHOL servers whose adress you can find here.
If the useCustomServer is set to 0 you actually don't have to change anything here, you only change anything when you want to switch server.
Also someone created a mod to be able to change server on the login page, you can search for it on the forum.
In fact as an eve camp, you can even skip all that if you're fast enough, build a kiln asap, make a nozzle, a crockpot and several bowls and plates. Plant stew veggies all that while forraging for food in the surrounding areas, wich normally should be plenty since it's eve camp, then collect eggs, and make omelettes, IMO omelettes are the best early camp food, then make your stew, and adults should be good on food for a while at camp being able to concentrate on other stuff.
uprooting dying berry bushes of monstrosity of a berry farm
also i like to run away from city and find dead bodies with loot all around
also not really doable now, since most civs die in about max 10 hours when succesfull, so by the time a new eve respawn in a dead civ the tree is probably dead
but i do like the idea, we really need more of those inter generation building thingies
