a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building

Weather as such can't be (isn't it like one second is 6 days irl), but it could be ofc, whole server having, say, rain, for, 30 seconds=half a year. Oh well. I can live with that.
So maybe, if you spent not a second inside that 30 secs of rain in (new item: tent, usable once, one small item size) or correct area of building, you'd not have double food consumption for next year or two. Not too hard to code, and image for rain should be rather easy, just google what I sometimes use in background or going to sleep. Hard to code would be stuff it would do to environment, but no need to do anything, right ?
Also, would allow new foods since now they would be needed. (edit: misspellings)
I had a similar shower thought. Rain comes randomly as you said and need shelter to avoid getting soaked and losing food pips faster, plus maybe heatwaves too.
Rain - to compensate for annoyance of needing to find shelter - can give maybe a random 20% chance of watering each dry plot for free
Well, you there have different ideas what "borderline" means...
Oh well, we here say stuff like that and nobody takes notice (no, I'm in not some kind of asylum, fyi, and people who don't know me too well see me as decent and ok human being-often I even dress as one). Don't ask me to define "often" please
It's a cultural thing, eastern civilizations are more subdued and quiet. Making random sound effects when doing some household work is considered very much weird here
Also, I almost tilted after I placed some chopped onions on a plate - my subconscious OHOL mind leaked out and told me I lost the plate forever
This has already been said many times.
a) Buildings are not a necessity for the game, but an aesthetic feature.
b) Pine panels are dead content because of the material costs, not because they are hard to make (unlike IRL).
If we are to model OHOL to real life, at least in terms of shelter being an absolute must for survival - how would you go about it?
Wonder if weather can be supported by the engine?
Pine walls have always been too expensive, and will likely always be too expensive. At least until Jason wraps his mind around the value of milkweed and that "hurr but u can grow as much as u want no side effects smh XD" means literally nothing in terms of how valuable and necessary it is for nearly everything in the game.
This is his stance on milkweed. And I quote:
jasonrohrer wrote:You guys can grow milkweed. As much as you want. It has no side-effects.
Perhaps one day he'll realize that 20 milkweed and 4 straight shafts for a single wall makes literally no sense and isn't worthwhile in the slightest, especially when we can make [eventually] permanent stone walls for infinitely cheaper resources.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure spending 2 whole compost piles (or 1 , but sacrifice an entire shovel) is a totally worthwhile pursuit. If making a 6x6 interior building that's 28 piles and 28 shovels , or 56 compost piles and 14 shovels.
56 compost pilesa is 8000 or so potential gooseberries, which could feed like 100 lifetimes.
Food for thought, Jason. Make fibers for construction much more common, if you want to model real life in this specific aspect, know that fibers for construction is not THI rare
it was, now is far and decayed
it's at -47000 -47000 which is impossible to reach in 10 lifetimes but even so, it's been culled alreadyto be fair, roleplayers wont make a castle, they make stone toilets, the ones who could make a big castle, wouldn't use it for castle and let rpers fuck around it, and we don't really have items that would make more like a castle and less like a room
What if the entire place is stone floored? Yeah no, not enough big stones to go around
I've been there before as Ginger family!
That place was quite rad.
Due to a spate of murders in the sister town and this town also dying, it was a sausage party by the time we got there so I messed around with making burritos for the first time.
I will always remember 3 Gingers riding back on horses together to this castle.
One girl managed to continue the family for I think another 10 generations?
Spoonwood posting a light-hearted thread! Surprised!
I developed an interest in pastry since playing OHOL, and baked a few pies and quiches since, to admittedly shitty but edible results
Also, D3mon hit it right on the head - I went tutszzzz when I placed stuff in the oven. F us right? We are borderline nuts
I was messing around in tutorial to practice some from scratch smithing to see how fast I can escape tutorial.
So when I was trying to make another basket using the four in a row tule reeds before reaching the smithing area....I got stuck behind the stump second from the right. I was totally unable to move but I can still pickup and drop the new basket to the south.
I just closed the window because ultimately can't do anything.
Is this new?
Shrimp Cocktail
Bowl of Ketchup + Grounded horseradish (wilds only) = Cocktail Sauce
Then add Two skewer of shrimps = Shrimp Cocktail - 8 uses - gives 16+2 food (11 from shrimp + 5 from ketchup + arbitrary 2 from horseradish)
Aids in the skewer issue - and it's fancy
Steaks!
Cutting a cow up gives six different cuts - one each - chuck , rib, loin, tenderloin, flank and filet mignon - all are to be seared on a hot plate - each 12+2 food, but the mignon gives 16+2 , each gives a different yum count! I don't care, yum needs buffing. ++ points if you dry brine with salt before cooking
Nice, make lots of sense to care for the youngest in the family. We will need to spoil the little ****** to death. But then we get annoying brats that grief but we prefer them alive. But hey that's life
I'm looking for statements of problems, so that's one. Cooking repetitive, pies easiest.
Oh shite, don't nerf the pies please. Buff the other complex foods instead. Nerfs to positive things are never fun for anyone.
lock 30 pitbulls in a property fence
hit every of them
die
profit)
You monster!!
How long more do we need to use an adobe oven?
Making advanced food is a pain with hot coals and adobe oven
Can we get a kerosene stove that turns on and off , can function as both hot coal and oven?
WE DEMAND NEW KITCHEN TECH
As you can see, these are all questions and a demand, not suggestions! *thinks he is smart ^_^"*
I too enjoy being a wanderer. Live off the wild foods, still yum to 7 easily. Bring some junk home when I feel like it.
Oh god I just realize I hate people in game universe too. F me right?

Simple answer: Because it was added before paper so the idea of making a sign that read out said something seemed like a good long term investment.
Jason answer: Because making letters is hard thus making a sign should be difficult.
Yes I can already tell Jason would give that kind of answer. Thanks Tarr.
Btw, you play slime rancher? Is that why you call yourself Tarr?

I know this is nooby but I need to know...for reasons
Yes, but their votes matter just as much in the end as well since their game experiences are equally ruined by barrages of dead babies and runners.
When we were looking into the amounts of dies, we've noticed that only a very small fraction of people were responsible for the majority of sid babies.
I never said they don't matter . Course they do. And yes, I'm so extra glad we have 75 percent less SIDs. Previously I pretty much assume a child will SID on me, it was broken as hell. Now we have actually normal looking family trees again. Think I saw an early gen tree earlier where the 4th gen kids, 90 percent of then made it to elder age
It has been increasing again since the uplimit to 18.
And Yes, a minority (top 50 I think) caused half the SIDs or something.
The minority are the people who think that 12 lives are too many.
Also I watched the poll as it went.
This was the chart this morning:
https://www.meta-chart.com/share/untitled-35974This is the chart right now:
https://www.meta-chart.com/share/untitled-35990Interesting on the jump on less lives is better. But honestly I expected the % to be relatively the same once they set in.
I think the late jump may be because players who answer this late into the poll are not heavy players .
As a player who plays 2 lives every other day ...honestly I might even live with six. But I understand it won't be enough for many
Urgh, I know this is supposed to be analog. But this is way too much effort for a sign, and too many saplings. Why can't we just grab a bucket of tar and a brush?
And the results are surprisingly even so far.
The game is filtering what you type based on a list of actual human names. All names that occurred in the US (a diverse, immigrant-rich place) in the year 2016 more than 5 times.
Apparently, very few people named their kid Cloak in real life!
The reason for this filtering is that it allows a HUGE range of real names, while also blocking "dickhead" and "dikhed" and all the rest automatically.
A whitelist, instead of a blacklist.
That means there are actually kids named Adolfo? Poor kids, bless their poor souls

Anytime anyone brings up any flaws Jason almost always throws a paragraph at them.
Anytime someone brings up lack of decent content he brings up "Ohhh, Theirs over 2000 Objokes in the game".
He just needs to do more enjoyable updates and old players would probably return.
Pff, what do you mean? havent you noticed that he has developed this "crazy engine" of his that cant do pretty much anything besides transitions?? we dont need oceans, we dont need a day or night time, hell, we dont even need trains or the ability to storage babies on a cart, we dont need any of that, i am better off with my swords and my will of ruining the day of someone else with a war because there is nothing else to do on a developed town, i think your problem is that you dont have 15 years of playing experience to see this rich dynamics that the game gives us in a natural and not at all forced way into us!
Yeouch, these are weapons-grade comments.
I can't totally disagree though, since I joined, updates are mostly about getting us to fight each other.
wonder why he felt the need to make a unique engine in the first place though?
RodneyC86 wrote:Anyway, sad to hear you want to go back to griefing, but is a free OHOL world.
I don't necessarily want to go back to griefing. I'm just stating it was more easier to play that way. People seem to support a griefer if they can give a decent and convinsing sob story.
I actually tried another life after wiping them out and didn't kill anyone. I wanted to see if people would let me starve my own children. I said every single baby I had was the same person who wanted to destroy the village. People supported my idea of this. I then let my last child (a boy) live and told someone when my child was old enough that they killed their sister. He got stabbed and shot by arrow by 2 different people.
Next I convinced them that the current person smithing was trying to make a knife, and he ended up shot by arrow. It's like a social expiriment playground in this game! After I grew old I admitted I lied about everything and someone killed me, but I cursed them. That person ended up getting cursed by everyone left in the village.
I don't grief by killing anymore, but I do use lies to see how it plays out. Most of the time they seem to believe me and take action first before asking for their side of the story. Until people learn to actually listen or watch, this game is doomed to be a candy store for trolling.
I don't know, maybe stop stirring shit? Just because it's easy to stir shit among a group of people doesn't mean you should.
I think that old lady snuck a round stone in that snowball, giving you a good blunt trauma.
Huh, that's more drama than I ever have in over 100 hours of play.
I mostly leave a drama scene , but I guess that's boring for some people, and I'm quite avoidant.
Anyway, sad to hear you want to go back to griefing, but is a free OHOL world.
