Beware that there may be a bug.  If you hold a baby, name yourself, then name baby, the baby sometimes still will be nameless.  I hit this bug at least two times already, maybe more.  I even sent replay to Jason showing it, but there is no fix yet.

So workaround for now is: name yourself, put down baby, pick up baby, name the baby.  This works fine.

yeah the thing is that she didnt even bother naming herself. and telling it to her in baby speak didnt work so im hoping the nameless will see it here at the least

honestly ill stick through almost every situation. even if ur a new player and u dont have a camp or u dont kno how to make a firebow, whatever. ill stick with u as long as u give me a last name to pass down. please name urself before naming ur babies eves. and if u dont have a last name and ur sibling does ask ur sibling to name ur kids

generally i just hope someone who can pvp well can kill em. but most the time i just wait for them to kill someone and then get em while theyre slowed. its not really a quick tactic but whatever. works fine enough

also if u click on a spot where the person is moving to u can kill someone even when theyre moving. gotta be careful tho or ull kill an innocent bystander who was too slow to move out of the way

if u dont have a bag putting it in a basket and carrying it around like that works too. someone in one of my camps made a knife and gave it to me but i didnt have a bag so i just carried it around in a basket looking for someone responsible to give it to. just dont open carry, especially when u havent told ppl what its for to begin with (a simple "hey, just gonna get us sheep" to the person stalking u b/c ur suspicious works for a while). i generally leave the bow outside of camp so some griefer doesnt have the chance to just swoop in while im eating

From what ive seen despite the questionable choice of name startafight has been nothing but helpful on the forums.

teaching! (not a surprise i guess cos im planning for teachers college lmao) i love getting apprentices and helping them learn a job or skill they can take into the next life. hunting apprentices are a lot of fun but they have a high mortality rate so i stick to teaching em farming or cooking. sometimes smithing if theyre fast enough

if uve got too many new kids wandering an eve camp itll eat up all the food before u get a chance to get settled enough to ensure success for future generations. my goal so far in this game has been to get an eve generation to at least double digits. its disheartening to see the players who dont do anything just keep every single child in gen 2, and then watch all those kids starve to death by empty bushes b/c they didnt expand the farm enough to support those kids. there needs to be population management in eve camps and when there arent everyone just dies

i dont abandon every baby without giving it a second chance, either. its just that new players dont seem to know when were on the verge of famine and keep all the kids they get and just die. the other day i raised a newbie son even though i was gen 2 (my mom was eve). i gave him a job, to water the crops, and he did that sometimes. but then he came to me later and asked me how to make a bag and i showed him how to make one and gave it to him. i only did that because i knew we could afford to support him in that camp (b/c i only had 3 kids, only 1 was a girl). and i always teach new players in bigger camps.

u get it? there needs to be sacrifice for an eve camp to survive and keeping new players who dont do more than eat all the food and cause famine isnt something eve camps can afford. and i want gen 2s and 3s to understand thats something eve camps cant afford. thats why so many camps die out. and thats why i make so many goddamn "how to" stuff. its so that new players can LEARN without having to be taught in-game which takes a long ass time

and yeah my name should've been HotTakes (lol) apparently

yeah i actually havent been making that many bags (b/c the kids always seem to lose em on crops at death) but with the update maybe i should start focusing on that instead.... that and pants tongue

how does one identify an aurora?

does nothing and grabs the horse, then ask people to feed her
very chatty and weird
and creates useless drama

looks like ive never played with aurora... hmm i wonder if thats lucky or cursed

well knowing the rate of learning for the player base that's a lot more likely I guess. maybe I should just start stabbing twins till it's fixed

bambi and danger were twins. they killed anna and sarah, i assume to get rid of all the fertile women. they didnt raise any of their own kids. dont raise any more twins yall theyre all evil. and even if theyre not its impossible to tell em apart. just kill twins or theyll wipe ur civ

i played a game before this where another pair of twins killed ppl. i assume it was the same pair

suggestions to make groups less destructive:

groups cant heal each other

put heartbreak in

group cursing (one cursed, whole group cursed)

when one kills someone both are slowed

born to a town after being murdered. everything went smoothly till my sister gave birth to my niece. she was rooted from spot from birth. i saw her move objects and the objects seemed to have flown into her hands. that included babies. heres a consecutive screenshot of a little of what i saw

she was forging here. i went to the forge (a screen away) and saw that there were indeed forged crucibles there. i also didnt see the town's girls, even though i knew they were there (b/c i saw one of my nephews talk to her and call her by name). i dont think this was lag b/c i was moving around fine and the objects were moving around fine. but there were some stuck on the ground that i couldnt pick up. not sure if it has to do with the murder but i dont think it was a lag problem....

That's not a good idea since young children starve easily in the wilderness due to the low health bar. Also the bellow is really not in need early game.
Children should always stay in camp / farm when young.

if u keep the smarter kids they stay alive. i generally provide em with a basket with food and if they die they wouldve just died later on and consumed more food. the last eve run i had i just told my kids "food south" and only 1 died out of the 3 girls i kept. and thats after she made it to 12 and knew the whereabouts of food. babying ur kids will lead to u not doing enough to set up a stable camp - also theyll use up the food around camp way too quickly, which will also cause famine for toddlers around gen 3 (b/c ur farm prolly wont be big enough by then for the pop boom, if u have a successful second gen that is)

also bellows are really easy to make as an additional step and it also lets the transition to iron tools be a lot easier. if u dont have a bellows or iron laying about the camp later generations will rely heavily on stone hoes, leading to a shortage of rope in the area which makes getting sheep a pain in the ass

farming in youth is a good theory and all but generally in eve camps i get new babies that dont even know how to set up a berry farm. but if ur kid knows how then sure, go ahead and set em up the task of farming. but they probably wont have diverse enough crops for future gens to make pies or stew out of, which will prolly lead to a berry famine in gen 3 or 4

anyways, ur only sending ur kid out for this step so u have time to make a forge to fire up the tools to start farming. if u like u could send it out to get skewers, but i prefer bellows first so i can make steel hoes right away

it be nice to have low fences for things like geese n rabbits too. something an adult can walk over but keeps animals or babies trapped
