spawned in an abandonned village i (and some of my friends aswell) played it the last few days
wasn't in great shape but not too bad either, i think it got griefed since there were no trees in green biome above put lots of stumps, firewood and logs.
there was stew ready, pies for the baking and a reasonable berry farm that needed a bit of tending, and a good amount of cactus and fruit on the ground nearby.
yet most of my kids still starved, out of my ten kids, two suicided and three died of snake.
it's not like we were scrambling for food, only one daughter died right after me, the rest died before and i died of old age.
Fortunately i still had a few granddaughters and great-granddaughters, i still hope they make it.
A lot of us knew it wasn't sustainable long term, so i tried to tell everybody to make outposts, the one i had build south east in a previous life two days ago was still there, tried to tell as many as possible, but i fear now that i'm gone and all my kids are dead, nobody will pass the message along anymore and that city will be doomed again.
For those that might recognise the city, it's the one where the kilns and oven are in "rooms" to the north of it, west is a long narrow sheep pen and berries and stew are inbetween the two.

took a while to find it
well as i said, when you pay, it's for the right to play on the official servers, but anybody can set up a private server (well anybody that knows how to ^^) and mod it up however he likes.
some of them are private where you need an invite, some of them are free to use by anybody
no demo but you can play it for free on private servers, there's a link somewhere with all the available ones where you can try it out... you buy the game to play it on the main public server with most of the other players.
yeah we'll need an irrigation system pretty soon, that goes together with farming
i've been playing for almost 3 months now and the game always has been running rather smoothly with sometimes some spike lag (you know, when you "bump" against an item several times before taking it or puting it down, or a player suddenly running all over the place at high speed), or even a bit of slowness when i started a game in a big city, but it would come back to normal after a few minutes.
but for a few days now my game has been really slowed down dramatically, especially when in a populated area, but also if there are horses or sheep moving around or even the rabbits popping out of their holes.
It only return to normal speed once i'm totaly alone.
I seem to remeber a topic about reducing your framerate might do the trick with an explanation on how to do it in the settings folder, but i coudn't find it anymore (i gave up at the 4th page back on the forum)
Any tips for me ?

Berries take 0 maintenance unless someone eats them. Having a bunch of grown full bushes should hurt no one. However, sometimes people take this as an invitation to eat nothing but berries when there is pie or stew.
Berries are an important buffer, especially for children... we "just" need to teach people that it is actually better to eat pie as an adult and they are helping (not hurting) by doing so.
even if i do agree that ppl are using bushes too much as a main source of food rather than emergency, berry bushes will never stay full, they inevitably will be emptied, either by hungry kids or by compost and pie makers, so they will always need maintenance, hence our complain of those giant ass berry fields and my remark on having a small easily maintained cluster.
well the way i do it is usually if i'm a girl, i soon as i get my hands, i snatch a basket full of suitable baby food that wont be missed ( usually 2 berries ans a carrot, i don't like to waste food and take more than i can eat, also i would feel bad to take more) find a perfect temp tile and using temp control i walk away in a straight line into one of the cardinal direction untill i find a suitable spot, far enough but not too far either and start from scratch.
As soo as i have babies, i tell them where i came from, tell them to pass on the knowledge to their kids and hope for the best.
yeah when i see that, a lot of time, i just come with the shovel and reduce all yellows to kindling, i mean if they weren't tended for that long that they had time to turn yellow, they weren't really needed in the first place.
I also often uproot those that are in the way, like in one city the berry farm went up untill the forge, leaving just one space, very impractical to work efficiently, so as soon as a bush was empty, i'd uproot it (i obviously don't uproot those that were just tended, i wait that they are emptied)
So far i've never been flagged as a griefer, cause those farm are so damn huge, there are ppl busy everywhere, nobody pays attention, and even if someone sees me uprooting, they usually say nothing cause the probably think that i know what i'm doing, or they agree with me or simply they don't understand what's happening... not that i'm griefing anyway, but some ppl might see it that way.

[...] mouth sounds [...]
what the hell are you talking about? the mouth sounds are part of what makes this game so great ![]()
as for the rest, i'm sorry but the fact that the game doesn't hold you by the hand and you really have to invest into it to get it is part if why it's so great, cause when you finally made it you really feel good about it (see now you know how to make a bowl and you'll never forget it)
Personally, i discovered the game through twitch, i was randomly browsing the game section when i saw this one, the name and the artwork of the thumbnail intrigued me, so i started to watch (it was IndieLeaf streaming if you want to know).. And oh boy, i got almost immediately hooked to it, even though i didn't actually played yet.
When i finally got the game, i had already several hours of gameplay watched, so i had a basic idea of what to do (and discovered a really nice community of streamers and watchers), i also had read the starting guide of the wiki (this should be seriously actualised).
So all the tools you need are there, just not in the game, but aside of it... If you can't take 5 min between lives to figure stuff out, then it's on you. Especially if you can come here and post to cry about the lack of hand holding in game.
on the other hand this can be a lineage saver.
I was only girl on settlement and got mauled by a boar hidden behind a tree. Ran back to the settlement to say sorry and goodbyes and just before i died, a girl popped out of me so that my mom could take care of her.
Well in this particular life it didn't go well cause the girl died before being fertile, but still.
well tbh, when i play with my friends, we usually go to an empty server together, but why not ^^
One thing that would have to be added is a kind of difficulty setting, we can't really ask newbies to manage twins when they barely know what to do themselves.
So that way on the starting screen you could chose a normal mode or an experienced mode where you would accept the challenge of taking on twins. Maybe with this mode, your chances to be an eve might be a bit bigger for added challenge.
yeah we did exactly the same with 4 yesterday evening, on same server. We actually rather do that regulary, it's so nice to be able to play peacefully without worry.
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … &id=411876
we were even joined at the end by a random player that saw people on the server.
we did pretty much the same, we had a forging station, a sheep pen with compost station, a pig and goose pen, a stew garden and all the tools needed.
we made tacos (need 8 limestones for one pig) and we meddled with healing.
Didn't bother with antivenom, it's much easier to get a knife and kill all snakes around.
Too bad it was so late for me (played till 2am), i still have't meddled with dying clothes yet.
Oh that's so great ! that's the little things that make the game so nice ^^
Now i think it should be cannon for all experienced players in this forum to go away and start new settlements when they are born female into big cities. I often see people complaining about the map being too big, so cities rarely connects, but yet almost nobody is willing to go away and build a new place when in an already settled place, IMO that's the only way we can achieve interconnected cities.
was born into the Fawns family My mom named me Gio
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … _id=411736
Decent village, at least not a huge berry farm, but several smaller clusters.
The usuall bit of clutter around and crammed areas, i immediately see that the kichen right above the kilns is a bad idea, omeletetes lying everywhere, kitchen supplies all over the place. So as soon as i'm big enough i set out to explore, make some adobe and build an oven a bit further to have enough free space around, but close enough to share fire.
I take a shovel and free the space around from tree stumps and empty clay pit, then start to move all kitchen related stuff to the new place. Someone is still making omelettes at the kiln, but i move everything bit by bit.
At the time an older lady was forging and i ask her to make a pickaxe.
In my explorations, i found an iron pit nearby so i head back to the city and find the bucket making area and promptly make an stanchion kit annd set up the mine. I extract the iron. when i come back, i find a dead body with a backpack and some clothes, so i grab em and go back to forge.
Noone is forging, still no pickaxe so i start cleaning up the space, recover flatstone that lady was using for omelettes, arranges crucibles, set up the smithing station properly and start working.
Made pickaxe, broke the old oven down and watered it to get adobe so now the space above is freed. With a bro and a cousin, we try to keep track of tools to know what's needed, i make a spare of basic tools just in case.
That's when she came in, little nameless girl, great niece of mine, she's very young, probably just got her hands
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … _id=411736
Now there were several people standing around, kind of disturbing me being in the way so i ask to please leave forge area. Then she starts to fire forge and working on it so i repeat i'm the smith and i take order, so to please leave the forge, she completely ignores me even though i repeat it several time, she answers "FU"(first words she ever spoke), so i take the hammer in my backpack, but didn't see there was another one, and sure enough she makes a blade and put it in her apron telling me we need a saw, so i snatch the other hammer and the file safe in my bag, tell he to give the blade, i'll make the saw and that's when she starts to insult me and say nasty things.
I know we still have a saw, but make another one anyway, i like to have spare and that way she can't hide behind the pretense of needing a saw.
I'm getting older now, but i keep going on, she's still following me around saying nasty stuff, i don't think it's really roleplay but I ignore her, i don't even bother reading what she says, utill i see that she picks up kids and starts to talk about raping children. that to me is just as inacceptable as racial slurs in the game.
So i go the the one that had the knife and ask her to get rid of that girl, she's been trying to make a knife and if she succed she will start to kill, but she doesn't really take it seriously, thinks it's RP, laughs at our dispute.
Another girl shows me a started file already oiled with chisel on it (i saw the nameless girl with a goose, and i remember there was an unoiled file when i was born) so i also promtly put it away in my bag.
Now i'm really old, so i keep warning the village about the girl, then give my bag to two boys, Platon and Kaleb, i think they witnessed part of the drama, i hope they keep the stuff away safely and soon after die of old age.
Now i see in the lineage that she killed Platon but she was killed by Kaleb, plus she was really old, so she spent most of her life chasing after me and insulting me.
Also sorry sister, i didn't get to bury you next to mother like you asked me to.
my only problem is i didn't explore the city enough, so i'm not sure i can recognise it if i'm born there again and head to my outpost.
http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … &id=411454
i was born in you big cities, but didn't want to deal with city drama again, so i soon as i could i took a basket, a little food and split east.
4 or 5 biomes away, far enough to have raw ressources but close enough to be eventually found.
Theres a kiln ready with basic fire tools, a pot of stew ready to be cooked, a bit of omelettes and carrots and stew veggies planted and watered. NW of it there's a pretty amasing cactus farm.
I only got 4 kids, one that suicide right away seeing we weren't big, one newbie son that forgot to eat (at least now he knows how to make fire) one daughter that starved in childhood close to camp even though we had food (she told me she wan't new, i've seen experienced players very often starved in infancy because they overestimate their capacity and want to do too much too quick, never taking the time to wait to grow more)
and my last daughter, unfortuately died of snake attack, i was too old to have any more kids.
So if any of you happen to spawn in that city again, feel free to try to find it and expand it as sattelite city, could be fun. I headed almost always straight east, you should be able to see sign of passage.
I do believe it was This Lineage if it was you. At least, I think it was- the name Gertrude rings a bell from that playthrough, if only because I passed their bones like 10 times.
I don't remember the name of the cousin/aunt/relative that fed me though.. I'm rly bad with remembering names, oof.
well i definitely was in that one, I was Jaze, so either i was that cousin that fed you or i saw it happen and that's why it rings a bell ^^
i dont think i've ever been fully clothed, more often i have only one piece, like a single shoe or decayed stuff
but i almost always end up with a backpack, either given, found or self made
Reminds me of a time where I was born into a decent size town, and had my mother abandon me in the middle of the ripe berry fields. Luckily a cousin nursing her own kids saw me struggling and took me in and raised me.
My mom eventually came back, and I asked for a name a few times, with no response. Even my cousin-mom asked her to name me. Instead, she kept bugging my cousin-mom for her backpack. She even tried using me as a fucking bargaining chip lmao. "Give me the backpack and I'll take/name my kid." Cousin refused and kept taking care of me.
Mom finally came back shortly before I grew hair and named me. She tried to reclaim me as her own, but I just kept running out of her arms back to my cousin. I grew hair shortly after, and renounced my mother for the cousin who cared for me. She said "I'm your mom though" and I said "No, Cousin was a better mom."
We didn't drag it out much though. Parted ways, cousin who raised me died, and I found my wrinkled old ma. Told her I was sorry things weren't well between us, and that I wish she hadn't tried to abandon me or use me as a pawn to get gear. She apologized, and I wished her luck.
oooh that story rings a bell to me, I might have been that cousin, but i'm not sure
Yeah thanks so much for being there for me after that was over bro. I was super anxious after that ordeal. That wasn't my first rodeo of that nature: dancing around from a knife or bow. I was having flashbacks but at least I was the woman this time so I could repopulate after it was over. It was nice that you could help me repopulate, even if you did get creepy with our daughters at the end.
haha yeah, but you started it by asking me to make babies with you ^^ and i was the only male, those babies don't come out of nowhere.... oh wait ![]()
anyway do you have lineage link ? i don't remember our names, i'm curious to see if we survived.
yeah we just had the same kind, mom got only boys, and the one girl we had, a bro was doing the same...
but she got big enough so she ran away so he made bow and arrows and chased her most of her life. To the point i though only boys were left, and all died, but miraculously my sis appeared, so it was just the two of us, and she told me she only had boys and couldn't keep em.
Finally she got one girl, then another one just as she went old, so we fed her berries.
I really wanted to stay and watch that settlement regrow, but my game suddely decided otherwise and got so laggy that i starved trying to pick up a pie.
I was sooo happy to be finally out of that city with this huge ass berry farm, that everybody stubbornly wants to maintain whole (and even expend) that it's eating up all other ressources, we had no water for anything else.
Like, for real Jason?
You got us all exited about having pigs, and the only thing we can do is tacos.
TACOS?????
The food that nobody does cause it's so tedious and requiers so many steps.
I've been twice in the Taiwo city now, and both time there were bowls of Carnitas all over the place, added to the pork meat lying around (funny how tortillas on the ground gets dirty, but raw meat can stay for ages, no problem).
It also looks like mutton, i've seen ppl trying to make pies with it and get confused when it didn't work. It really should have another colour.
But back to the main subject.... Bacon, it should be so simple.
A flint chip or a knife on a piece of pork, and boom... strips of bacon !
Throw that on a flat rock, add an egg, and BOOM, bacon and eggs.
Had a couple of more thoughts
- Eggs should be edible raw, like an alternative cactus fruits, there's always so many eggs lying around everywhere.
- If a flat rock doesn't do it for you, a cast iron skillet could be added, like two wet bowls make a crokpot, two wet plates could make a skillet template on which we hammer a wrought iron to it
Imagine all the more delicious foods we could make in that baby.
will we ever get the update?
i was the boy that watched it all, Neil http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … &id=384180
i got a BP and hold of two knives, killed your sis at he requests.
I also got a crown, saw that there were no more clean pads, so told ppl to build a fire.
took a cart and brought several cartloads of wood, but no fire had been built.
On one of my trip, i found a third knife, brought it to my mom, since she had the nurse apron.
But as i was handing it to her, my little bro just shot me with an arrow, without explanation.
Mom tried to heal me, but i knew i was doomed cause we still had no fire and no clean pads.
Also i was starving, my food was very low, i shouted F repeatidly, but maybe nobody expects that from a grown up, so i starved.
It was a short life.
By now, most of us have noticed how much space graveyards take.
It was already an issue with bones piling up at the edge of cities before burrials, but now with the berry farm providing a stable supply of food, cities are growing bigger and so do cemetaries.
The introduction of named graves was a really great idea, especially in early settlements, mothers could see which of their child had just died, and make plans accordingly, also in big cities, players could find their direct deceased relatives, like mothers and siblings, and leave the 3rd cousin five times removed to it's own relatives.
The introduction of some form of mass grave could be a good idea, it would have a similar mechanic as trash pits, maybe a bit more elaborate to make to not have the feeling of just throwing our dead to the trash, maybe has to be done on a stone floor or something, but not so hard that it would take half a lifetime to set it up, I'm sure Jason can work that out.
Since you can ony see the names of those that died during your lifetime, a visual cue could be usefull to differ the recent graves that might still have relatives alive even if you don't see any names, from really old graves where we can be sure nobody alive today would know them. Maybe a name change (from fresh grave to old grave like with the bones) or a new sprite, like it would be full of moss or something.
In addition, why not creating a special burrial tool, like a spade, so that shovels wouldn't be used up so fast as they are now.
Another thought that I had writing this post, would be a way to have an eve recognition, so that everybody would know how special that particular skeleton/grave is. We could have the word "eve" added to the list for gravestones, or the bones of an eve would keep the name forever, because early settlements usually don't have time to mark a stone and of course later, the bones becoming annonymous nobody has a clue how important those are, so that even future generations in more stable cities, would recognise it and be able to build a shrine or mausoleum or something, adding some more RP into the game.
