I posted those to give a reference to your rhetoric. If you hadnt noticed, cantface never singled you out, and unlike you was actually talking in hypotheticals. Doesnt really matter if its out of context. Because you were never talking to them, right? Who were you talking to again? Every single one of those posts is an attack, you dont pose reasoning, you dont bring up anything but your anger. I dont know why you feel the need to lash out at people like this, but you might want to look internally for the answer. I dont think anyone in this thread has said anything to justify the things you have said.

I think its time to take your own advice.

#203 Re: Main Forum » Your first grief? » 2020-11-25 18:07:41

You clearly hurt them. Cantface's initial statement was that your comment about "growing up" wouldnt necessarily inspire someone to do so. Instead of justifying your point of view with reason and discourse you chose to attack them. Then discount them with statements like "are you in the discord" "do you even play the game". Realize your words and actions can hurt people and yelling at a problem never fixes it. There is nothing productive about making problems where they do not exist. Like i mentioned in an earlier post turning things into an us against them environment only breeds unrest and resentment. And like many have mentioned in this thread, things are not black and white. Its time to wake up to that fact.

Sure you did nothing at all. How about you leave me alone and stop responding to me? I have told you what I think even offered to agree to disagree but you continue, I haven't insulted anyone on the level that you have, stop gaslighting me and assuming I'm guilty of something you're the one telling people to grow up and making massive assumptions about me. I'm not answering any of your questions this convo is just going south.

This isn't good for me and I need to stop talking to you. You are continuing to push buttons that are setting me off. Sure I have responsibility for how I feel and what I say but so do you and you're actually upsetting me so please for the love of god STOP.

Slinky, can you stop bullying someone who has been bringing up legitimate points in thoughtful ways? Just because you disagree with them doesnt give you a right to treat them this way. This kind of behavior is part of the problem.

Thats very noble noncreative guy. Even though it might not feel like that work changed the game, you changed it for that person. In this game, as in life, all we can really do is be there for each other and help each other grow. Even if another person replaces the person you helped overcome their issues thats just another person you can help inspire change in. There is something beautiful about that and it goes far beyond just playing a game or building a town. It can be exhausting but dont let it sway your hope. The core of this game is being there for each other, for this generation and the next. That goes far beyond making pies or mining iron. We help each other learn, grow, survive, and thrive. Personally i think this game is strongest when we have an environment that not only enables technical growth, but personal growth as well. Any effort that works towards that is not lost, and goes far deeper than the technical elements of the game. This game is about people. its what makes things interesting, dynamic, and unique each life. Its not simply about growing a town but growing each other. It can be hard, people can be difficult, people can ruin your day, and make you give up hope sometimes. But without hope and people striving to rise above those hardships human beings would have never made it this far.

#207 Re: Main Forum » Your first grief? » 2020-11-25 14:20:32

By that definition doesnt that make anti-griefers griefers as well? I dont know anyone in the community who provokes and harasses people more. Their intentions might be pure, but there are innocent people who get burned or have their experiences ruined. I think thats more what cantface is talking about. The term griefer/grief gets thrown around pretty loosely surrounding this game and each persons definition of griefing is a bit different. The common theme of it tends towards tarnishing or ruining someone's experience while playing. In that sense its pretty easy to unintentionally grief.

#209 Re: Main Forum » Your first grief? » 2020-11-25 07:27:32

I remember this pair of anti-griefers who triggered back to back apocalypses then immediately went back to bullying people for micro griefing.

An interesting world we live in huh?

#210 Re: Main Forum » Your first grief? » 2020-11-25 03:38:40

In my experience most griefers are hurting. If not from in game experiences often from their own personal issues. Im not saying you should give them love and acceptance, but maybe some empathy. They're people too, maybe they have lost their way, maybe they're taking their anger out about personal issues in game, maybe they have been broken so many times they feel the need to break others. These people do need help and im not suggesting you give it to them if you dont want to. Its easy to hate, its easy to hurt, but its hard to heal. If we dont have the capacity to be the bigger people who is going to have it? As i see it the current method of dealing with griefers hasnt helped, made things worse, and leaves a lot of innocent people in the crossfire. Do we want to be the people who lose ourselves in the fight against them, get warped and twisted by the anger and resentment, until we mirror something similar to them? I believe there is a way to rise above griefers without pain, without hurting others, and without inspiring them to continue their behavior. We just have to be the ones to work hard enough to find it.

Also, griefers are rarely on during the weekdays and everywhere during the weekends. If you want a truer experience and one without as much hardship i recommend not playing during the weekend as much.

Honestly im not sure why donkey town exists anymore. Might as well just have it just be the solo challenge.

#212 Re: Main Forum » Your first grief? » 2020-11-25 01:43:02

Provoking griefers is only going to make their behavior worse. Their actions might be their own but their inspiration for those actions are often not. Blaming them exclusively is just as bad as them blaming you exclusively. We all play a part in the social dynamics of this game. Creating an us against them environment is, absolutely, what has lead to the increased aggression of griefers over the last year. Bullying them, belittling them, and taking extreme acts against minor behavior only makes things worse. If you want to fix griefing you should try to find a way to fix what makes the person do it in the first place. Its rare a griefer isnt angry or sad or given up hope on this community. You could be that hope instead of cutting their wounds even deeper. Attacking problems in society has never worked, and often only makes things worse. Take the war on drugs for example. All it has done is make the black market more cunning and aggressive. Food for thought.

You mess with the spoon you get the fork.

Slander is still slander no matter how you season it.

As i see it these forums are about discussing the game, not its community members. Community members behavior in game on the other hand is free game. Though personally i dont see much point in singling out individuals but instead the behavior itself. Makings a thread exclusive to complaining about community members with no reference to the game is kind of a big "why" for me. Given its nature and its displacement from the presumed purpose of these forums i think it justifies the ban. Im sure gogo and fish will be back soon.

Truer words have never been spoken. Probably the most depressing realities of the game though. If only it wasnt reliant on external resources to function properly.

Bans are rarely permanent. Spoons been banned before. They're usually a month or so depending on the degree.

Comparatively i hadnt spent that much time in that town. Clothes were a bummer though, couldnt have cared less about the oil. All in all we recovered ok and are stronger for it.

Im honestly more bummed because it scared off a few people and completely destroyed my trust in randoms on low pop. Its a harsh reality to face but the server is stronger for it. Im glad to see you're working on yourself. Its hard not to hold a grudge when i've lost maybe 200 hours of work to the same person. I understand the anger that lead you to do it though and glad you're in a better place.

At least you left behind my lucky hat when you griefed our town.

#218 Re: Main Forum » I appologize, Methman » 2020-11-23 00:19:12

Didnt realize the town was his eyy? I wonder who you thought it belonged to? I dont know what your beef is with me, but after destroying mine, meth's, and ranka's town you followed me to another low pop server, tracked me through wondible maps, and destroyed my week old town I started with four other people.

The fact you dont even acknowledge me in this apology... is just

I hope you turn over a new leaf. But realize you have ruined hundreds of hours of my work, destroyed two of my towns on different servers and i dont even get acknowledged in your apology. I get you and meth were friends, which honestly makes it 10x worse, but you hurt a lot of people with your actions.

#219 Re: Main Forum » Jason, get rid of expert waystones pls » 2020-11-22 11:48:08

Considering this is Jason's most successful game in his 15 or something years of game developing i imagine he cares quite a bit. Caring about what we think is another story.

I agree biome restrictions and such are bad and self dependent civs were way more interesting. That being said jason has dug himself so far down this rabbit hole and is so far in denial of it i doubt he will even try to climb out, even if he knows it was a mistake.

But to hark back to my point about mod users. I agree the game is nearly unplayable without zoom. But because we play with zoom, and a ton of other features, jason doesnt change things. Because we create statistics that make jason think everything is fine/balanced and because we make results that would be impossible for vanilla users. Its just as much our fault as it is is jason's for getting disconnected with vanilla players. We have no right to say the game is balanced or imbalanced when we use mods like awbz or hetuw. You can literally chat with other players in real time with no character limit in hetuw. Basically removing one of the biggest challenges in the entire game.

#220 Re: Main Forum » Eve Bear » 2020-11-22 11:33:16

Eve Bear, Eve Kraut, Eve German. Something about these names gives me deja vu. Perhaps 2/3 of them spawned the longest lineages to exist in the rift. Not only that, but they were from the same eve during the same arc. If its still the same person they are likely burning their eve spawn to maintain their score. An eve like that isnt looking to break records, but dominated the circuit.

#221 Re: Main Forum » Jason, get rid of expert waystones pls » 2020-11-22 02:41:48

Play without a mod and try to find another family without waystones gogo. Im so sick of spoiled modded users thinking the game is balanced or unbalanced purely based on their experiences while using mods.

And we blame Jason for bad player retention...

How is he supposed to make the game better for vanilla users when 90% of his feedback comes from modded users.

#222 Re: Main Forum » Spoonwood - review » 2020-11-22 01:05:41

Sounds like you play for many of the same reasons most griefers do. Im not suggesting saving a town, family, or people. Im talking about saving peoples' work. Work that took hundreds of hours collectively to achieve. If you dont care about preserving that legacy im not sure why you even play this game, you might as well just grief. At least they have a purpose. Sitting around fighting people and not giving a shit about whether a family, town, or resources are destroyed is more worthless than anything.

#223 Re: Main Forum » Spoonwood - review » 2020-11-22 00:15:59

Maybe in a few years the griefers will turn 10 a realize griefing was kinda lame.

And gogo, you blatantly give griefers the attention they want and put them on a pedestal. If you were smart you would just ignore them. Gather up the important resources before they do and hide them somewhere you can get them later and let them run their course. Imagine how many towns, families, and people you've seen die on this game. Whats the point in fighting for them when we know they will all be replaced eventually.

As i see it a town is made up of hours. Hours people worked on different things. Griefers try to burn those hours or wall those hours up so no one can use the previous generations hard work. Basically all you can do is try to preserve that work and make it more annoying for a griefer to get the gratification they want.

#224 Re: Main Forum » Well yall say im a griefer... yes i am » 2020-11-21 23:52:55

If you were actually good at griefing no one would realize you were even there until it was too late, and when they did they would have no idea it was you and start blaming and killing each other.

All you attention seeking griefers are noobs. If you were actually good you wouldnt need 3 accounts. Your type  is too obsessed with attention and your own infamy to be remotely good at this game, griefing or otherwise.
