Imagine how nice it would be if you could store a lot of wheat at one tile in the bakery, maybe next to it a bucket of water.

you made a thread to explain, that you need to understand the problem so you can come up with a solution.
you have the most experience and you can come up with the best solution.

at the same time your solution to too much wheat is to make it possible to use string to create baskets.
instead of barrels to store wheat or make wheat stack able (like stone piles), which was suggested by people.

#230 Re: Main Forum » Vampirism » 2019-05-29 05:50:07

Zombies:

You run 50% slower
You look like a zombie
You need to bite other people to stay alive
You can only be killed with 3 arrows, like a bear
No aging, but you need to keep biting people
If you bite someone, he becomes a zombie after X seconds

#231 Re: Main Forum » Some straightforward content, plz? » 2019-05-29 05:46:46

yes please

- more stackable items
- more containers (for example barrels for wheat)
- let us put babies in backpacks and carts
- let 2 people sit on one horse (one controls)
- or other options to transport several people
- bug fixes
- let us take out seeds from a bowl like berries
- let us put all kinds of bowls into a cart
- let us eat tomatoes and other raw foods
- more recipes to use already existing foods
.....
...

I also noticed that, i think if you get stabbed but then die from hunger it will be reported as hunger.
In very rare cases its also possible that data is missing.
Also i think that the curse logs are missing data, but i am not sure about it.

People have been complaining about being far apart all year.  "We can't interact with other towns.  We hear the bell, and it's too far away to ever get to.".

People wanted to be closer together, but not to kill each other.
Right now i see people are blocking bell towers, they do it because they are sick of all the killing.
People wanted to be closer together in order to work together, to build civilizations.
But the game mechanics changed, you can no longer curse other families, war swords were implemented and you cant understand other families.
Being close together is very different now, than it was before.
Its like when you have a kid and it wants ice cream and you finally give it ice cream but you put a ton of salt all over it.
Now the ice cream tastes bad, thats not what the kid wanted.

People said, "We can't trade, because we're too far apart."  But trade doesn't require a distant partner, or even an exotic resource.  People trade with their neighbors all the time, due to specialization.  So, before bringing people together to stimulate trade, let's figure out if any trade is possible locally.

I dont think that people ever wanted to trade locally in their own town with their family.
I think most people who wanted to trade, wanted to do this with other families.

And again for me it looks like you are going against your own game and the players,
but it might be that i am not able to understand it well, and that these changes will improve the game in the long run.

#236 Re: Main Forum » Other games solve a lot of these long-term problems with regular wipes » 2019-05-25 06:16:31

This is how this feels to me:

First you make property fences, but not many people use them and some dont like them.
So you move everyone close together (war update) so people "have to" use them,
and now we are at constant map resets to solve the issue of everyone living close together.

To fix a bad feature another bad feature will be implemented that than again needs to be fixed by another bad feature and the problems get worse and worse.

But this is just the way i see it, ofcourse other people might see this differently.

#237 Re: Main Forum » Other games solve a lot of these long-term problems with regular wipes » 2019-05-25 05:17:38

@Dodge yes the most amazing way to do regrowing would be to make natrual
Trees spawn next to other trees of the same kind (if there is enough space), old trees die eventually and transform into dead trees.
The same with everything else. (milkweed, burdock, animals...)

Even better biomes could change depending on how you treat them, if you plant a lot of trees in the desert maybe parts of it become the green biome,
in the same way if you cut all plants in the green biome it might become a desert,
empty all ponds and the swamp changes and so on.

But i think all of this is too difficult to implement.

#238 Re: Main Forum » Other games solve a lot of these long-term problems with regular wipes » 2019-05-25 04:40:00

Let stuff regrow after a long time. Like milkweed, burdock, wild berry bushes, iron, trees?
Animals could spawn again if there arent many in a region.
Revert the bug fix revert, that let more stuff grow.

Save the time when someone harvests milkweed, then if someone comes back to the place (loads it again), check the time and see if already X has passed and if so respawn it.

Everything decays, everything regrows.

Need more storage options, towns get filled with garbage,
problems with new foods: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=6649
Need more recipes for already existing items, so they can be used better and not fill up so much space.

#239 Main Forum » TOMATOES a tool for griefers ! » 2019-05-24 09:51:03

Whatever

Planting tomatoes has become a griefing strategy.
People do it to waste soil and space.

This can be easily fixed by making tomatoes eatable.
One tomato could give 2 pips for example.

It would also be nice if we could throw tomatoes.
Similar to snowballs, but without freezing effect.
They could also force feed a person when thrown over a distance. (if possible without breaking yum chain)
This could be useful to keep prisoners alive.
Just throw a tomato at a prisoner to keep him alive.

This would make tomatoes into good anti griefing tool,
you would not be able to starve people by throwing tomatoes at them,
but you could disarm them.

When 2 people try to kill each other and both are running around, than the person with a lower ping will have a great advantage.

Today i was fighting with another person, we both had bows and were running around each other.
The fight took at least 5 years, i kept shift clicking on her but apparently not the right tile.
She also was never able to kill me.
In the end i was able to somehow click on her, i saw my face went angry and i knew the aimbot is active now.

I think the problem here was that we both had a high ping.
People with a better connection to the server will have it much easier to kill other people.

#241 Re: Main Forum » Interesting suggestion for a change to YUM chains » 2019-05-23 19:54:25

similar idea:

A yum chain that cannot be broken but decays,
for example you eat a berry, after 15 min you lose 1 yum bonus and can eat a berry again in order to get it back.

age 10: berry      +0 bonus (yum becomes x1)
age 14: banana   +1 bonus (yum becomes x2)
age 20: carrot     +2 bonus (yum becomes x3)
age 22: berry      +0 bonus (yum remains x3)
age 25: -1 yum (lost berry) (yum remains x2)
age 27: berry      +2 bonus (yum remains x3)

additional it would be nice if different foods had different yum bonuses
an ice cream for example could give +3 yum but only +2 food

#242 Re: Main Forum » Still bouncing every life and random high ping » 2019-05-22 17:15:20

You can write in game:
/PING
/NET
do this when you experience lag and no lag and see if there is a difference.
there is also /FPS

#243 Re: Main Forum » The Murderous Starr Family » 2019-05-22 16:40:04

Is it also evil when you shoot someone in CounterStrike?
Do you ruin someone elses experience by doing so?

No, because the game is intended to work this way.
You play the game by its rules and thats fair.

Jason recently added certain features to the game:
- you cannot curse other families
- your family will be one race, makes it easier to spot outsider
- other families talk gibberish, creates conflicts, and conflicts cannot be resolved with words
- everyone is now much closer together
- war swords

All of those changes were made for a reason.
Killing people from other families is an intended game mechanic.
Jason wanted war and he made these changes to support it.

If you want to complain about this, complain about the changes not the players.

i would say yes to the unban, if he wants to be a better person, give him a chance

#245 Re: Main Forum » Murder, Somewhat Quanitified » 2019-05-20 19:22:36

best would be KILLS / TIME ALIVE
time alive is the time of all played lives together

Ofcourse if there was no slow down, you would have been able to defend your village better.
Like the people who defended their villages in these videos:

jasonrohrer wrote:

Stop trolling jason lol

Ofcourse the recent changes make the game more violent, these are the changes you made:
- you cannot curse other families
- your family will be one race, makes it easier to spot outsider
- other families talk gibberish, creates conflicts, and conflicts cannot be resolved with words
- everyone is now much closer together
- op war swords, that have no slow down.

all of the above changes were implemented by you in order to create more violence and conflicts, more killers.

jasonrohrer wrote:

The game has always had violence in it.  That hasn't changed too much.  Go back on the time machine server and give the old knife a try.

The old knife was not good for the game at all. It was good that you changed it.
