Getting fat would only be a good system if you actually over ate a lot. Like a kid that eats only mutton pies should get fat or if people keep overeating a bunch of foods, instead of wasted reserve pips you could put on a few pounds. It would be...'realistic'.
Also why don't we have real ghosts? I want to haunt my family after I die, hover about and speak in ghostly wails whilst possessing a berry bush or something.
Futile or not it's bloody SOMETHING. So what if they cut em down and replace them, we could go back and forth for as long as we want and the fact that pine doors can't be locked is and has always been a good thing. There's a system for ungriefing and conversely the griefers have the freedom to undo that work. OHOL has always been like this, so THAT'S why we STILL put pine doors up, even though they're replaceable. It's a cycle.
Babies should walk slowly, like when you murder someone. Makes sense and fix this problem.
Kidnapping would immediately be a huge issue, we can't have faith in people to not abuse it.
Loom building and all the clothing would be awesome! I haven't written it anywhere and my memory is mush!
I don't want to give up on this game, but the one other person I used to play with doesn't play anymore, and I haven't played in weeks because this isn't fun. I know people don't care too much but if things keep going on the way they have been, you may need to rely on putting OHOL on sale again or even reduce the price to make up for the waning player base. However, you can't replace the good players that left. New people will learn, get good, get frustrated like the others and they may leave too. It could happen, but as long as there's a handful of people playing no loss right? I don't think it's sustainable, personally.
I hope I'm wrong.
I want pine doors to remain the way they are, replacing all the lockable doors with pine ones is something I like to do, my twin agrees after being locked in too many rooms (some with stone walls, some with doors) we try our best to anti grief locks and shit but someone will just knife the door off and replace them quickly. Not much we can do but at least we try lol.
In towns like this I kill thieves on principle. I'm poor and trying to make something for myself. When you steal that I have nothing to lose. Yes it's usually pointless and I'll get revenge killed anyway. I don't care. Get me out of that awful place so I can find a new, better town.
I am right with you there. I hate the thieves that steal something in front of your face that you were using, or swap out your baby's clothes with crap alternatives, chased someone for ages and would not stop bothering him till he gave them back. Don't care if I look dumb I just despise it. Only thing worse is Pitbull griefing. At least murderers usually make a spectacle, but a thief will steal from you, run to his mama and cry that you're trying to steal FROM HIM. Happens so often that I don't even ask them to give my shit back anymore lmao. Shoot/stab first and ask questions later.
Make sure you get yourself a rabbit hunting camp, away from the center of town so no-one will run over there and bother you. If you try to be the 'designated' hunter in the middle of town people will just take your shit, not thank you and also claim that THEY caught the bunnies after yeeting your snares and bait lmao. Not worth the hassle to fight someone's overprotective mum over stolen goods. (So common)
Fun Fact - even if nobody abuses the Pitbull, it will turn mean eventually when it gets old. It is a time/movement based transition.
Pitbulls only exist as griefer tools.
:C Imo one of the worst game 'mechanics' of all time, in any game ever. Pointless, ignorant and cruel. Luckily it's not such a common grief tactics these days. (though it does pop up every so often and I still get a lil aggravated and sad each time.)
Try to keep an eye out on your age in your late thirties, once you're fourty your milk dries up and you have to hand feed any babies you have something small like berries ideally ofc.
Bake many kinds of yum pie, but if you insist on making berrypie carrotpie or berry/carrot pies only make ONE because they're the worst of the bunch. Some people refuse to make them but if you're in a big town with yum freaks It's less outrageous (unless you're a mutton pie enthusiast) Don't make these pies unless you're in a town that has everything else basically.
Don't breed dogs please please PLEASE. They just run around, follow people then die or someone will hit a Pitbull with a stick and turn it aggressive so it attacks people, why this mechanic exists haha you tell me please!
Be too easy if you could just do everything yourself.
Like we did before climbing the tech tree "too fast" was an "issue"? ![]()
I think some veterans still try here and there to help but on the other hand some veterans turned to griefing when we had apocalypse, rift and now we have biome specialty/tool slots that may have caused a similar reaction. I don't blame them, as apocalypse griefing proved a point and forced things to change, this waystone grief is probably done by vets that know they can block shit with it, to prove that not having them be an object you can move through is dumb. It's annoying to have to remove them (like twisted did in his latest video near the end) one by one and you need two people like most other anti-grief actions. Just make it so people can move through them! It's a bloody no brainer.
I agree with you Punky, if Dev wanted he could make things harder for griefers but he's also said griefing is a part of the game. Whoever suggested cages, shackles, stocks etc has a brilliant idea and if the Dev won't put in preventive measures outside the game, then they should be inside.
Banning someone from a game that they purchased is something that some big MMO/Online type games do for cheating but I don't think bans will be a thing here. Whoever said OHOL is a social experiment may be right to be honest.
Visit onetech.info for any tech recipes you would like to make and write them out step by step. Type something into the site (eg. Bucket, Axe, or any game item at all) and you can see how difficult/easy it is to make and how many steps it takes to complete. Start with simple things such as farming, compost, baking etc, learn the basics and then look into higher tech when you feel comfortable and if you cannot complete a task take a break to ease the frustration, look up your recipe and try again. Playing this game blind is nightmare hell I DO NOT recommend it please learn from my mistakes!
If anyone here is the person that builds stone floors in a triangular pattern (with planted trees and graves surrounding them usually) then you're a real bro. Whenever I saw one when I was old I would spend my last minute just auto running on it and my last words would always be Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Much fun was had by me and once two people joined in like three seconds before I died
Brilliant.
I hated that the paranoia (or general disagreement) with being boxed in with eachother, griefers and all caused absolute pandemonium. So much people roleplaying rather than working because most hated playing that way and just caused a bunch of shit like always. It's why we get people coming up with traps and games now to this day. I think people want what was in the trailer, we still don't have it or anything close to it. I think some people feel frustrated with the games current state, or even feel duped into buying into something that they never had any say in. So they turn to griefing. I see a few similarities in both the rift and race specialty updates, especially the disappointment they both caused and the reaction people had as a result. The more jaded people get the worse the game will be to play.
Edit: I liked that I never got lost because WHO COULD with the black sack n crack everywhere to guide you.
We already messed with races can we not mess with disabilities? That would be great.
I had a similar situation when twinning, me and my partner tried to shoot a baby killer/napper but he kept running into snow so we couldn't shoot him, I'm on laptop and don't use a mouse, aiming is TERRIBLE and for some reason I shoot my OWN TWIN as the knob runs into snow again, he then accuses me of being the griefer the whole time but no-one believes him as all the mother's saw the asshole do it and after my twin died I left because I believe the game basically Auto shot the nearest target available, which is bullshit to me. Unless it was my fault...but to this day I swear I didn't aim at my sis. Then again when trying to kill griefers in this game I get shaky and panicky, so I can't say for sure that it wasn't my fault lmao.
More avatar/character types would be niiiiice. I know it isn't a priority but it should be lmao.(I'm biased as drawing OHOL characters is fun to do and gets me out of art block mode.)
Really want biome specialty stuff to be reworked or something.
You know what, everything else is fine, I can handle a hierarchy system, tool slots and seals breaking all the time, that's completely okay.
Purple dye would be shweet.
It's great building practice tbh, ohol controls are simple but a bit bizarre, like it's completely insane that there's no way to move in the vanilla client besides clicking which is the same input for picking up/using/etc. Not sure if you use hetuw mod but it makes building property fences so nice... Just put down the long straight shafts first where the doors will go then pick up the twigs and do WASD and space to put down all the walls in seconds.
They're so easy to build that it's worth considering throwing up a quick fence for a foraging outpost if you think you'll be out there for more than 20 minutes. It's annoying af when someone wanders by and helps themselves to your rabbits and milkweed..
I do indeed have a zoom mod although my twin has hetuw I still have awbz I do want to switch at some point though as I prefer the other setup overall. Don't get me wrong, I know how to build most of it, it's the placement that I always and consistently, without fail fuck up and get frustrated with. I usually let the faster ppl set it all up but when no one has made a pen yet I try to do it myself. Most of the time though I end up helping someone else as they take over and I'm just like THANK GOD. My pens are the worst man.
Blocking off an early rabbit hunting zone is a sick idea though! God I wish I had thought of that rather than running ages away to a new patch and setting up a far away camp no-one will steal from lmao! I've been doing it all wrong, thanks so much for the tip! ![]()
Anyone that builds and organises fenced towns, sheep pens and buildings I respect because although I fix a few doors here and there and make a couple crappy small pens I am SO BAD at it. No idea why carpentry is the one thing I can't do very well and it's a little embarrassing tbh. Kudos to you, that shit sounds elaborate to me, although it's probably more simple than I think. :V
But yes , Bearena should be added to a list of fun things to do when bored in game, glorious.
Funny coincidence, "NO NO" was the same thing that little pre-game show bb said when he saw the bear in the next pen beneath him!
Well I know that wasn't me, I haven't played in a week or so but if you've been doing this for a while you might have actually caught me once or twice lol. I tend to have a special insult in game I've never heard anyone else use and it's skinny penis so if you've heard that before you definitely have caught me! ![]()
Converted for sure, but I know realistically that resources aren't really infinite. Stuff can be recycled though so at least not all is lost. Maybe we need recycling lol. Idk.
Yooooo I don't agree with people being locked behind these and lured in no no. There's been too many times behind locked doors, sealed walls and fences for me in this game! but if I throw myself in the bear pit you won't hear any complaints from me, I should know better at this point. But...I don't lmao and that's why I run out of tool slots all the time too because I'm feckin dumb and forget to keep count.
Never been the best at strategy or survival either.
Also I agree that the Bearena should be a voluntary thing and not some trap, then it's just a typical pit of death and I'd hate to be a bby born in there just hopeless, it's the choice to go in and turn it into a trial battle that makes it fun!
I don't find any of the hard limits enjoyable. The tool slots are more tolerable, because they are easier to avoid. I don't think they add anything positive. Most people who "like" tool slots have more tool slots than they need - in another words, they are not being restricted by them. There's nothing fun or interesting about running out of slots and being forced to give up on doing what you want or need to do because of an arbitrary limitation.
I don't enjoy any of them either, I loved playing the game before they were plopped in. I complained about tool slots in another thread as I have a habit of forgetting about the limit and using them all up. Even with a higher amount I find I still run out. I'm just saying If I'd have to choose one I'd agree about removing the biome/race specialties update. I'd love to get rid of both, but I'm guessing they took some work to implement so...whatever is easier lol.
