I like the close spawning. I think two other things are the real source of the issue:
-anyone can be Eve by spamming die enough
-you can't curse people who aren't in your family, and griefers don't see getting killed as a deterrent. Eves in general have not much to loose it's not like they have a long line to keep going.
---
Solutions:
Make it possible to curse people not in your family again. The downside is the potential for curse abuse. One idea is that you need to be near someone to curse them. Another downside is that it would (possibly) deter "valid" hostile acts such as an Eve stealing a pie from a town because she's starving.
Make it harder to be Eve. If you are area banned from all places you don't spawn as Eve but cycle back through previous options that you rejected. Or you get a "there are no locations where you can be born wait 5 min and try again" message. This could go with a limit on the number of Eves and some other ideas like making being Eve a reward for living to 60 3 times in a row.
I like the idea of Eve being a reward for living a long life, we need the best players as Eve not the worst.
I love this idea!

Don't be a slob! Someone had to make that plate. This is why we run out. FTLOBB!

The primary downside to buildings it that they restrict people's freedom of movement.
This is also their primary upside. Buildings keep people from walking across your workspace.
This wouldn't bother people as much if buildings were larger, but they tend to be rather small because of material costs. A 4x5 building is small if we're being honest, and it takes 20 floors, 18 walls or doors, and 4 corners.
5x6 is the ideal size for a bakery. I tend to find buildings to be too large more often than they are too small. A large building is a pain to keep organized. A small-ish one allows your to work more efficiently and no one can put junk in your space because there is exactly enough room for the items that you need.
Smiths are a bit harder to size correctly, since you need space for 2-3 kilns and the hammer/lathe etc.
Nurseries work best as adjoining buildings to the bakery, 5x5 is pretty good if your have boxes for clothing.
The smith should be at least 8x8, though 8x12 is probably better.
We also need to think about building kitchens for cooking items other than pies. If there were some kind of grill or stove this would be much more possible but right now there is not item like a kiln or oven that screams "this is the kitchen" so that type of room isn't a thing and often get repurposed.
I'm worried about more clutter. And you can kind-of use steaks this way. Make a few extra and put down your corners. Make your doors before walls and place those too. People should get the right idea....
Also, good building helpers just bring materials and don't place items. Let the person doing the planning do that. Hope that they are sensible.
OK it's not the best idea, I just get frustrated with spending so many lives doing the ground work: gathering kindling, iron, wood, making charcoal and NEVER getting to build the engine myself. Whenever the stuff is there someone who can work faster than me is dominating the project, or worse I start working and people jump in and just smelt random stuff or take the supplies I've gathered.
Mostly there are no supplies and I gather them so someone else in the next gen can build.
I just wanna do the fun part for once.

Been in two towns with not enough gates, and no one really paying attention to if the gates are being shared and opened for people who need them. Oddly we were OK in one town since we had 3 tanks of kerosine, compost, lots of stacked wood, a tree farm. I wonder if it would be possible to make a "finite map" type of mini game where you have this small resource-dense area, and you need to manage things correctly to live as long as possible. In the town with the kerosine I think they could have lasted for 4 generations. But they were trapped, whoever made and closed all the gates wandered off without giving anyone else permission or they were ignoring all of the yelling about how they were closed. I checked names but couldn't find the person.
Ominously one gate was owned by some rando eve! New griefing game: creep around with a round stone and piece of rope and trap the people in the town.

Please let me in!

If you want to be a smith you don't just start with smithing you start with gathering kindling, making charcoal, possibly getting iron. Basically, you have to do the work of the journeyman before you do the work of the master.
Smithing
Must chop, stack, cart 5 kindling before one can use the smith hammer.
Building
Must dig, split, cart 5 rocks before placing a stone wall.
Must make or dig 8 adobe and cart before making an adobe wall.
Driving
must make one tank of kerosine OR make 1 rubber tire before driving.
Baking
Must make 4 pie crusts before being able to add ingredients to pies.
IDK this might be annoying. But, I do wish that more people did their "homework" the more mundane tasks that make the fun tasks fun.
Ya'll keep on asking for a leveling up system for some kinds of crafting what if you can't place a wall until you've carted 5 stones?
I was in that village XD ...planting trees!
Were the trees on the west side of town? I think I watered them.

The got dang big boi religion was still going when I was there. The town was also locked down with the most serious closed up fence I've ever seen. I focused on fishing and told all the religious folk I had so many fish because of big boi to keep them from pestering me about going to their "temple" (it worked.)

Praise big boi for this bounty.
"after school hours"
-What if when you don't talk to people your language mutates so if you don't talk to your kids on the regular you slowly have more trouble understanding them... not a full language shift but like an accent... And your grand kids? it would be worse.
-more player models could help so that even within a given name there was some variations between sub-lines
-What if clothing that you give to your kid after you reach the age of 50 gets it's decay timer reset? So you really want to find your kids and give them the clothing and backpack because only they can make it last for ever by giving it to THEIR kids.
(after age 50 so that putting clothing on your baby would NOT have this effect and it only works for your children or grand kids.)
5x6 bakeries are the best and now there is no reason to have a fire in there. Heaven!
I kinda like that carts are restricted by iron, and you can make as many as you want if you just farm that milkweed hard enough.
Someone has built at least 3 of these things in various towns. I thought maybe it was a car garage? But you still have to wait for the fence gate to be yours... seems annoying and excessive.
The bow has always been the most powerful since the wounds are really hard to treat. I think bow wounds should take a bit longer to be fatal. You have to be totally focused to pull off the pad, hot knife (WHERE IS THE KNIFE??), sew. move. I've failed 3 times. The first time I didn't know what I was doing the other two times the person kept moving around and it was impossible.
Another way to nerf the bow a little would be if you could use a hatchet or flint to remove the string with the wood turning to kindling.
Sometimes I find the asking suspicious— a lot of murders are done just a tiny bit outside of town.
Oh. Yeah I didn't think of that. No wonder people always turn me down they think I'm a murderer. ![]()
I don't know if the recent update has made it worse, but people really really really do not leave town enough or look around in the surrounding area nearly enough. Most towns have at least one or town dead bodies next to carts not far from them. Often you find a little "griefer stash" of half made bows and stolen pies. I also find curious structures, swords, knives, fancy clothing, all just lurking right outside of town.
The current top reasons to leave town are:?
-rabbits
-iron
-scavening
-rare minerals
-yum
-exploring
-kindling
-wood
-gathering stones
-oil
I think a big reason people don't like to leave is they don't like to be alone. But, it's kinda hard to explore or do these other tasks in a group. I've found that if you ask people for help with or to do any task that involves trips out of town they really don't want to do it. And I find that I'm doing one of the above tasks almost every time that I play.
Anyway, if you are the type who stays in town all the time, please consider helping to at least look around in the nearby forests. Just having people moving around can scare away bad actors. (Often I'll see an Eve with a bow and even though I'm unarmed she runs from me) There is a lot going on outside of town, ya'll.

In one case the person buiding it was hella suspicious. NO RELATION refused to talk to me. Seemed to be taking things from town, but I couldn't prove it. (I found hidden carts and tools nearby)
I find so much strange stuff just outside of town and I feel like most people never leave.
You really need to look around. Twice I've found swords just laying around in the woods like "hey come stab everyone, Stranger"
Why did you use a photo with a person who was stabbed LOL. this game...
I really like the /angry face change. It's really helpful and will make things more realistic.
I often wish I could put on an emotion for a bit longer without using a mod. something like /very sad so I could stay sad for a bit if something really bad happens.
TIPS FOR GOOD EVES:
-bring a child with you to town. The child can help you understand what they are saying and if they are hostile.
-Smile! Then do some simple chore like putting soil and water on berries, collecting kindling
-consider bringing a gift but be careful people can mistake gifts for stealing.
I think the fireplace idea is great, allow it to be loaded with charcoal for an even longer lasting fire so warming all the buildings wouldn't be as expensive and prompt people to make more charcoal regularly.
Anything that teaches people to make charcoal would make me happy.
I just had a pretty good life in a town with a bow safe. I slowly added people to it and put all of the bows in there. I either melted knives or gave them to responsible-seeming people. We had a LOT of eves coming by our town so some of the time someone would die of old age with a sword on them (WHY???) so the fenced area was good to stash those too until I could get them in safe hands.
Our town was visited by 4 eves. 1 was evil and stole my little girl! But she got away and came home!
I think maybe she thought it was her kid since we looked identical and I had the child right next to her. I wonder what it was like to have this baby who you can't always understand, but she understand you?
I was glad the bows were locked up.
I think its better if you are Eve and want to risk going to a town to show up with a baby in your arms. The baby can help break the ice.
I'm also not thrilled with "fence magic" I kinda think there should be a way to break them with enough people and effort. But, I adapt.
