When I explored earlier just to see map changes I was a little surprised at how many dead towns I found. Maybe lessen the even window but give a warning that the rift is closing in X hours. I personally like playing right after a reset but there isn't a great way to know it's coming. Although if we got flash that "The end  is neigh" and there was only 2hours left in the rift everyone would just start culling each other which is debatably bad or good. If I knew when it was about to reset I might, just might, try to be apart of the new founding.

Yeah, if that were the case, some kind of chime and family number where the home marker is would be good.

Even changing the numbers a bit might solve it more fluidly though. Like no more than 8 families after 4 hours.

My 2 cents - since we are more contained and you can leave as a kid and see the whole "world" and come back home, executing the apocalypse is a little easier. It feels more pointless now since its inevitable anyways, but when it was conceived it was a challenge because of the time constraints and how we spread out. Competing against an ever growing spiral made it near impossible after the first round of changes. Now that's its within grasp damn near solo, I am not surprised some continue to try to make it happen. I'd rather people try and scheme ways to be successful at it then randomly kill inner family. At least it's a goal you have to work at it? That's pretty heavy handed devil's advocate though

Still takes a full 24 hours, and I'm pretty sure he fixed the apocalypse marker glitch so everyone would have a marker to it.

Were not supposed to have that many families, thats why it reset.

#303 Re: Main Forum » Are discord "pro players" triggering the auto-apocalopolis? » 2019-08-01 04:52:56

Oh.. seems to be this..

15 family limit (after Eve window closes of 2 hours, and new Eves keep spawning in spiral forever) is in place now.  After 2 hours, if we ever get > 15 families, game resets.

#304 Re: Main Forum » Last map reset happend because ... » 2019-07-31 16:26:43

I wonder if keeping the initial eves at the beginning, but then adding the chance for 1 eve to be born every 2 or 3 hours after would help.

Yes, I see that the rift ends up with one family only.

The question:  WHY.

And if I removed the rift, but kept everything else, what would happen?

2-hour Eve window in an infinite wilderness.

Do you really think that 24 hours from now, we'd have more than one family?  I suspect that we'd get down to only one family, rift or no rift.

I will run that experiment soon.

And this is a huge problem that I've never heard any good answers to.

Just keep spawning more Eves is the way it has been solved for 15 months.  New families start all the time, so that's good, but there are no families that last more than 24 hours, almost ever, so that's bad.

Now at least we have a family lasting.... but it's only one family.  That's not good either.

Well the last time with the ring family killing the king family and the unnamed family, you can literally see the perpetrators reason in his last words on the family tree.

"Only one family can survive"

http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=5067543

So I mean not only are you battling the factors involved, but also battling a set of people that want to eliminate all families.

My first post was about night infertility and how we used to get too spread out on the 3 servers we had.

The game was weird when we weren't all together in one server.

I don't think I've changed too much. My eyes were opened to certain things, and I've been wrong about stuff that I don't think is going to work, but ended up being humbled and opening my mind more.

There was another family with the kings who didn't have a last name. I actually helped them with that grind as a ginger but from the storm family that died when I was in my teens.

See pein I'm never killed by people. I may just be lucky but idk, its been a long time since someone's got me. I literally only die from bears or mosquitoes somehow.

Yes, it does make logical sense for swamp to be lowest.  Maybe like this:

swamp
grass
prairie
jungle
desert
mountain
arctic

Here's what that looks like with an even (pretty close to equal area) biome spread:

The biggest problem being too few ideal places to settle, leading to a lack of family variety pretty quickly.

You say that but we had multi race families going multiple times in these last couple days.

Shout out to the bison family.

I get that right now there is only one family, the ring family, but that family killed two families that were codependent to achieve that status, and even may have killed a third family.

I may be a casual one or two a day life player, but the lives I've had have been fun and i guess I just don't get all this commotion. Ive enjoyed the lives on this limited map more than the recent lives in the unlimited map.

I get that people dislike the change, but get that some people do like this change. We just aren't as vocal.

You do know that people could choose their profession in most communist countries?

Every person I've met from communist Russia or Poland has told me otherwise.

The closest thing to that was a guy i knew named krasimir who went into their army. It was more of a "So what do you know?" And his answer was driving trucks for a farm (which he didn't have a choice in doing once he hit 14) so they stuck him as a tank driver.

This game is ultimately a proving ground.

It borrows ideas from all sides, at different times and various intensities.

Going by the map

See it LOOKS like there's more snow
, but I'm thinking its just contrasting in that image and standing out vs all the other colors. Its also the only biome other than desert that seems to clump than spread.

The only thing I can think might be pretty dramatically effected, in terms of things inside the biome, would be jungle. I can imagine mosquitoes taking up most of the free spread out jungle tiles and kinda overrunning them. They only have a 15% chance of spawning in jungle, but if the jungle is smaller (in terms of individual biome suface area and not the collective) they might seem to be everywhere in a jungle.

What a useless statement.

A sword can be dismantled, and used for oil.

Your curse score can only be dismantled after time, or a stay in the time out corner, where most donkeys dont come back from.

Didn't you post a goodbye thread and leave? That means no more posts usually...

Small map means people will bump into each other more than ever which could be a good thing I guess.

This is a prime time to add

- Adams and fathers.

- Family branches, clans and personal surname for your immediate family. It's not unique enough as it is now.

- Marriage. It all ties in nicely.

Also, we can't be expected to survive on the limited number of resources as they are now. It would be better to either cheapen the current cost of iron tools, buildings and other stuff so that we'll actually have enough time to create somewhat interesting societies (at least longer than a few hours).

Jason wants us to create a bustling society, and that could happen but only if we don't have to grind and cut corners to make it. Killing children or people who "misuse" resources which leave us struggling to make more stuff to make a city interesting, is not the way forward.

I think we're gonna get something like that mixed with some github fixes

Can confirm there will most likely be a change that will aid multi race/lineage towns soon, but that's all I can say.

Good job

Wait this wasn't the holly fam that is outside the rift is it?

Me thinks you dont know about the original prison town..

Someone built a giant stone wall that went around the city without anyone batting an eye. Then someone went and locked all the doors and made a "human zoo" or the biodome as I called it.

One time truz made a pretty full jail cell. They managed to teleport pies in and keep them alive while someone worked on freeing them.

You're very much misremembering that story Grim. That was me and giedeons apocalypse bunker that was found by a stray Eve after server reset. Those walls were already there and they decided to move inside a place that was primed to be completely locked in and someone just did it for me while the people lived inside.

Kilian did me a favor by locking the place because I honestly figured it was far enough away no one would naturally find it. Prison town wasn't someone very slowly griefing a town but some Eve moving into a place she wasn't welcomed and her lineage by default getting trapped inside.

Ah i was remembering the first post in this thread and actually didn't read that the part where you said it was yours yikes

#319 Re: Main Forum » Why did the previous arc end? » 2019-07-28 23:43:27

From what I can gather, there might have been 2 factors at play as well.

1. Somebody managed to build a plane and a fertile female escaped.

2. There was an eve in donkeytown that somehow had a normal child. That line grew outside the rift just like the the plane one.
