Server reset just needs to produce a lot of Eves AND probably needs to spread them out to allow more than 4 lineages to live early. I didn't Eve this week because I wanted some sleep but the last two times I did on server reset our population 2 hours in was way waaaay too high. A gen 4 camp should never have 40+ people in it.
As pein has suggested before another potential fix is just limiting population via tech (aka magic homelands shenanigans).
No homeland? Max population 5.
Shallow well? Max population 10.
Deep well? Max population 15.
Newcomen well? Max population 20.
Diesel well? Max population 25.
If there are two homelands the higher tier determines population cap. This would still have issues but server reset wouldn't be a corpse carpet anymore.

Posting things to the subreddit is taking your idea and dumping it into the trash. Suggestions go to the github or on the forums.
You have no well and make a primary well. Go to next step.
Is there iron veins revealed by making the well? Yes? Then no more wells will reveal iron.
No? Then making a secondary well will produce iron if there's iron on that leyline.
I saw an engine inside a fence. And then it was gone. It's impossible to protect your engine. Maybe a hour or two and then it is scrapmetal. You can not know who can be trusted with gate ownership. It's like playing tetris. You will lose every time. You can not win. If I wanted to play tetris, I would be playing tetris. Jason grieved every veteran that ever made an engine. It is hard work and he made it possible to destroy it in two seconds.
Are you telling me fences don't actually work. *gasp*
Who would have thought that the people who want to grief engines are going to grief them regardless if there's a fence or not.
The fact a single fence requires a tedious process to rip down vs taking out an engine and instantly smashing it is just goofball design.
Elder note removal for engines or make fences just as easy to rip down or step over. thx.
Ran into Jason Jr today trying to fence up the town well AFTER the diesel well had already been stolen for an hour+.
We just took the fence down as it was useless and he started griefing the town because we wouldn't let him fence our well. Going to be nice when the posse changes come and we might be able to do something lmao.
The logic behind fences is currently flawed. "Put up fences because one of YOUR family members is going to eventually grief YOUR family. Fences make sense when the goal is to keep OUTSIDERS from stealing or messing with your shit but self sabotage? That's goofy.
Can anyone explain to me why a knee high fence is more difficult to remove or deal with than ruining the highest level of useful tech in the game? Why is this not a group decision or at least an elder note sort of thing? The fact it's harder to remove some twigs in the ground than it is to ruin an engine is just plain dumb imo.
This attempt to goad players into using fences for anything other than animal pens isn't going to work Jason.
Looks better than a bunch of twigs at the very least.
Instead of making more it would make sense to allow them to be cleaned this way bad management = waste, good management = saved resources.
I'd just treat it like every other emote which forces things out of your hands and blocks pick up. Otherwise people would just quickly click again to get back on their horse. Horses are always going to be a weird mechanic with the system because you'll either have people out running horses (weird) or someone dropping the horse (why would you get off your horse if running away?) It's a situation where you have to pick which you'd rather see in game (dropping at least stops the classic pie thief running away with all the towns pies.)
Ding is good because otherwise you have no idea if you're safe or not.
And of course removing protection in bad biomes is a nice change as well.
In a world where you bounce between teams and are required to work together the best meta is to just share and gift things so everyone can continue to function as normal.
By shitting on others I proceed to shit upon myself which does neither of us any good. As long as we're either not bound to a race (bad because then people grief if they're white to gtfo) or care more about a city than a lineage (thus leading to people just gifting to a city to keep it going) we'll be in this same fiasco.
Due to the longstanding nerfs to lineages throughout the game history it just has always made more sense to play for areas vs families so there's no reason for war, stealing, etc.
The problem with the posse system is how goofy it is in the first place, especially with the restrictions.
The last two weeks I've played Eve my camp has either been griefed to death or nearly griefed to death and both times I was essentially unable to do anything. It's absolutely frustrating to essentially have your only defense be curses when the griefing happens. Back in the day you just murdered, cursed, and moved them elsewhere (which is still a problem.)
We solved the issue of one guy killing 20 people, but we swapped to the other end of the spectrum where 20 people can't kill one person.
BUFF POSSE SPEEDS It's unreasonable to think of people out running horses, but at the same time someone on a horse is basically invincible due to not being able to outspeed them. Maybe someone who is targeted drops their item? It solves the horse issue.
DONT LET PEOPLE GASPING INTO BAD BIOMES Better yet, make it so people growling don't drop their weapons when entering a bad biome. Absolutely goofy the best defense against a weapon is dehydration.
WARN PEOPLE WHO ARE TARGETED HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE NEEDED This should just be a gimme. You have no idea if the posse of two or three are dangerous to you unless you know the math behind the posse system. DING *In this area a posse of three is required to attack you.*
I know you keep arguing having a disarm system is bad but trolls in the communities are idiots (check toxic blabbing about his dumb plan.) Having the means to just smack shit out of their hand would go a good way towards removing their killing parties.
If fences were good they'd be used. Jason is just trying to bait people into playing the game in his vision instead of making them good enough to actually be useful.
Tacos were terrible and he decided to buff them. Guess what happened? More tacos. Last month players ate 2.1k tacos, this last week alone they've eaten 1.3k pork tacos.
Players do reasonable things instead of doing random crap. Fencing in the well? That's some real dumb shit, aka why would players do that? Even with the ability for people to instantly scrap engines players don't do it because it neither makes sense at face value (I'm reducing the ability to farm in case my child is a griefer) and for the sole fact it doesn't make sense that your kid should be doing that anyways.
This would be like locking up your knives at night because your kid has potential to suddenly decide to stab you to death when you sleep. Not exactly something reasonable to think about unless you're Jason lol.
It's actually not a problem, it was an unintentional side effect. Your problem is now a feature.
Let's discuss the underlying issue here. Why don't people want to play eve?
What can we do to fix eve play and make it worthwhile again?
Playing Eve can be fun but if you even remotely care about meme score + tool slots it's a punishment for high score instead of a reward.
Eves also have to deal with the stripped areas they spawn in meaning they're forced to run further from their spawn (which was the opposite effect moving us together was supposed to have) which can negatively effect their mid game.
White Eves are absolutely useless. Basically just kill yourself if you're white to save yourself score.
Just to point out you're only gen 11 meaning you've only got a -2 pip penalty on foods which means most foods can sustain people without issue.
Killing animals aren't hungry work anymore due to muh fences.
Is feeding bears still a thing?
Feeding them just makes them stand still for 30 seconds before turning hungry again.
Clicked the link and it killed my dog. RIP mean pitbull. You were a good boy and only accidentally mauled a milkman.
Not going to keep all my kids in an Eve camp as I decided to start a fresh camp because its a means to add iron to the server.
It's just better for Eves to grab some stuff from a dead camp and start in a new area which leads to dead babies.
Eve Revenaugh apparently didn't feed a single child. Perhaps that's someone protesting the current state of the game?
No, they're just a troll. Good try though.
I usally grief cause im bored
I don't know what the point of this thread is to announce you're in donkey town when you admit to griefing. No need to be an attention whore like Toxic lol.
>call people pedos in general
>complains when rebanned.
Hmm, I wonder what the issue is.
Just feed others. When someone else feeds you a not-yum food it won't fuck your yum score. So just eat yum when you can and when you can't have someone else feed you stew or something.
Yum chains can't be broken at all so it doesn't matter if you make a 5 chain then eat 20 berries.
The wiki is outdated and should never be referenced for up to date information. Check with the forums or discord to keep up to date with the current system.
Donkeys are spawned whenever there are no fertile mothers unaffected by the curse radius block the donkeys have from other players. They can only spawn back once a fertile mother doesn't have someone around her that has the donkey player cursed and each personal curse lasts a month.
Donkey Eves follow the same spawns as normal Eves do just 20k away from the normal player population.
If donkeys wanted to constantly wipe the server they could but they just end up trolling each other so it doesn't matter.
I'm on the complete opposite side. I think this game is at its worst when all you do is grind for an hour in the vain hope of keeping things going. The lives where I'm just a workhorse for an hour are the lives where I quit afterwards because I'm neither playing for fun or enjoyment which is what you should be doing when playing a game.
I am by no means a roleplayer but the lives where you connect and work with people are the best imo. Teaching people how to fish and watching a group come together to survive in a small hut area together? That's some good stuff. Killing and feeding sheep for an hour to produce sheep skin bodies, mutton, and straw hats for 40 people? I'll thankfully forget about it like the other dull lives. Lives grinding oil? Absolutely fuck that. The few lives where I taught someone how to do oil and make kerosene? Now those were good times.
I really feel the game would be better if Jason would let up the grip and stop forcing everyone into his specific vision for the game as some sort of starvation simulator.
Perfect example of what people say when new tech should replace old tech. What's the only other example of this something like upgraded horse carts?
Congrats on your first engine. It'll get easier as you do it more and more you make.
