I played one life so far and it was probably the life of the year for me. It rivals one of my best lives I ever had for different reasons.

I was basically an adam to an eve village and it was one of more emotional grabbing lives ever. I initially started out abandoning my family that was not in any good circumstances(and friggin rude), and just set out to see the corners of the map. I ran through many a community and didn't stop other than to loot bodies. At about 10 or 12 I decided to make myself a reed skirt on top of my moufloun skin. I was gathering the supplies when I saw that eve village, and decided to gift them that rope I was going to use. I realized how bad of a predicament they themselves were in and decided to help. They were in a good spot, but had no labor force. I stared smithing for them and getting the first tools. Somewhere along the line they named me hero, and gained their last name. I saw 3 different generations of them, and a few girls made it each time. I just about flipped my desk and screamed at a certain point, when I thought everyone starved before I could cook the rabbit pile and cook the eggs. I died of old age just as the next generation came in and felt complete with that life.

I think there are kinks to be worked on and ironed out forsure, but all in all I think its a good start.

Lists reasons why it was so hard to accomplish for that long and requiring a pretty hefty amount of people (try to make 4 or 5 people in a village focus on one thing like that.)

Also describes the joyous and gratifying feelings of pulling of something not everyone can do.

"I don't like it, because it's broken. Even though it took bug tester levels of testing, and a very long time to eventually break."

I just dont see the logic there?

If the game was going to get a basic update this week, jason does whatever he needs to do with the server and client stuff to fix the bug, and boom it's fixed, and still makes sense.

But now I agree with you.

NOW that the game is changing drastically with the non infinite map, maybe the apocalypse towers SHOULD be changed and another apocalypse challenge added after.

1. I was lumping you in a group with jack and yikes
2. Well they let you and whatever and a few others in on the horrible little secret while the rest of us were in the dark.
3. No the first attempt was stopped before that, and right after is when they made and figured out the multi bell issue.

I'm not anti apocalypse

I'm against people acting like something is a sorry idea when they are abusing it and basically breaking it without anyone else knowing.

If you completed a apocalypse without breaking the game, I'd give you some room to criticize, and say  "oh the apocalypse is a joke"

Until yall found a loophole it wasn't a easy task and don't act like it was.

Your disrespecting the people who legitimately attempted it and few people that legitimately pulled it off.

Basically the only thing I need to see here.

Dont act like your not doing it just cause tarr greifed your bells.

The first apocalypse before everything broke was fair, and I know and you know (I have teh evidence) that you ran into problems and it wasn't a first attempt thing.

Anything AFTER the break is a joke and just bug abuse. I see those and see 3 different ways to make them inoperable, but alas nobody finds them or has a marker.

But it should get fixed by next update, he knows about the problem.

#333 Re: Main Forum » Pein Vs Tarr » 2019-07-24 15:30:15

Tarr crafts a quick knife and pein makes a quick arrow and finds a bow.

Somehow the universe lines up completely perfectly just for a second to where they somehow both manage to be just far enough and have just enough lag. Tarr stabs at the exact moment pein shoots and they both end up wounded.

Me and morti are watching from the sidelines with bowls of popcorn because we cant stop them, and at the same time cant look away.

+1 on blue diamond

Yall would have had a harder time without half of the players thinking that the bell was the boy who cried wolf.

A quick FYI to everyone who didn't see this on discord but,

The current apocalypse bell sound and marker leads you nowhere other than mine and bluediamond's bodies. I set up a makeshift camp if you unfortunately go there as a fertile girl.

Thats not a cool narrative.
Thats not interesting and finally
THAT IS NOT CONFLICT.

Conflict has a cause and a resolution. Conflict has two or more conflicing parties with interests in play (they all have something to win/lose). Warswords don´t promote conflict between villages (or any kind of war for the matter), they enable outside coordinated groups to slaughter other players like sheep for their own sadism. With no defence or punishment. They don´t care for their own family after that, they may even come back in the town they just raided to kill the previous one.

Stop the facade of the mutual trust thing. (Raiders don´t want to interact but to kill)

Stop the "interesting conflict" false argument. (it is not interesting nor real conflict)

bUt DRAMA!!!11!!

I had a really nice little private fishing area set up with my three children in the Tang village and apparently some nameless twins (surprise surprise) of an Eve they welcomed into the village killed them because they accidentally left the gate open. :^) I even tried to do the correct thing and arm my children AND give them fences so they would be safe and guess what?

All three dead when I looked later to see how my fishmonger branch of the Tangs was doing. I've defended myself once successfully against an attack in the new pvp shit and you know what I had to do? Literally run away until they nearly starved to death so I could counterattack. Wowie, much conflict, great resolution. Forced to run around in circles for three minutes because we were both properly dressed while the only thing I could do is run and eat while she tried to catch up.

I don't think I've ever been in an "interesting" situation with swords once except where me and Morti tried to destroy ours. You can LITERALLY do everything right (fences, weapons, food) and still get have everyone get killed because swords are a dumb OP weapon that Jason can't live without. I'm not sure what the fuck you're supposed to do against raiders besides hope they get bored of the game.

There's one way to battle them that I'm surprised you haven't picked up on yet.. Remember the pic someone posted in discord where the greifers last words were "camper"?

That's the way I've dealt with it all.

If everyones stats came out again, my k/d ratio would have double the kills as deaths from using that tactic, and I strictly am defensive in killing.

i've bumped into you several times, you just dont know it cause im so random and dont take part in the discord drama XD.

One of the most remomarable ones was the cactus valley town in middle of desert, where you would live out of cacti alone. Then someone just knifed everyone there cause you have drama factor with your surrname.

Oh damn that was a flashback..

I haven't been eve grim in a looooong time. The closest was eve grimwood back with the language update.

I then went to eve bigwood (bigwood forever) and then eve stromgren which is my last name on the leaderboards.

I like it always being new now, and I think my next eve names are going to be different coworker's last names.

To put it short there will no longer be any "permanent" towns  since the update was implemented. Long families such as the ancient Qin, or the Radishes will seize to exist. A soul reason and the most important reason, Oil. While Jason's pass update's only tried to continue a long family line line this one shows the hypocrisy in his message. Ones the towns oil supply is over, the town dies. Plain and simple I hate it. A solution to this problem according to is by Jason by simply "migrating". Well Jason things happen to cause that mass migration players wont just leave one the oil is depleted, there will be murder, Crops will slowly begin to fail, Mass famine which leads to even more death, and if there is a female survivor, only about one or two possibly can establish a new eve outpost. This update only promotes death and unless you either increase tarry spots across the map, you are changing something which didn't need to be touched in the first place.

Since the update, a town has already lasted pretty much a whole day at this point, so I'm not so sure about towns not being permanent.

I was in the town where wbsteve made his vid almost a full 24 hours later.

Towns haven't lasted weeks in awhile.. since the days of like casino town and sancal.

What happens after you hit the top of the tech tree?

Serious answer: you start inventing games. (Because once you have no external goals, anything you choose to do would be playing a game, by definition)

I mean we already do that in game, in towns that aren't even at the top of the tech tree, with players that don't even know all the tech.

I think that stuff is going to happen regardless as a happy accident.

This might be a bug

When I was eve on server reset a few weeks back,I spawned next to another eve and could understand her for about a minute and then the language went gibberish.

You didn't experience a bug.  The language barrier doesn't occur unless the server has 15 players I believe.  So, that's expected after server reset.

Oh, duh!

Thanks spoon

I went out midlife in a very young town, after getting all my fur and seal skin gear. Collected a ton of thread. Brought it home, made a lasso and decided to get horses for the fun of it.

Got three horses before I was getting pretty old. Still no sheep at home, but there was a bow, arrow and bowl of food in the pen.

Decided to get a lamb, but there was no rope. Cut my lasso for the lamb rope.

I brought the lamb to the fire instead of going straight to the pen, told the kids by the fire I bought a puppy and asked them to name it, no one did, so I named it Bingo after the song.

"There was a farmer had a dog and Bingo was his name-oh, B I N G O and bingo was his name-oh."

I was about to die of old age, so I took the lamb dog to the pen.

Decide to see if the other rope for the lasso was where I left it, it was, I combined the ropes back together and decide to grab one of the horses to parade it around the kids just before I die.

(Both the pen and the small biome tiles where I released the horses were south of the fire, far off screen.)

As I'm bringing back the horse, I try to think of something to say to the kids about it, then it hits me.

Walking into range of the kids, horse in tow by the lasso, I say "Boy these dogs sure do grow up fast, don't they!?" "Look at how fat Bingo is already." something like that.

One woman laughs; one of the kids tells me I'm funny... Puts a smile on my face and a tear in my eye.

Best moment of my life, just seconds before I died.

Reminds me of my baby pet cow gilroy.

For my last 5 mins one life we walked around the town. I was in a full green suit and introduced all the kids to her.

I dropped her for a second to eat, and someone took her! I ran and searched and yelled "someone stole gilroy!"

Just south of town I found one of the kids with her in their own fenced off family plot. I told him that was my special buddy, and he told me he was going to take care of her and "omg I love you lol". I gave him my green hat and shirt for it.
