If the recipe for sword would reguire several pieces of iron and would be harder to make it would push this mass genocide phase further down in the civs arc. Also requiring more ingots would make others to question the need for it in relation to it usefulness. I mean it used to be a serious effort of persuation to make smith do blades for kraut board (kraut being the most cost effective single source food ingame). Or you had to make it swift and in secresy.

Lets say:
5 overlapped blank blade bases for the blade part.
Hardening
Hammering to shape
Sharpening
Polishing
1ingot for hilt
1rabbit fur piece for the handle
1ingot for knob that secures that all together.

This would atleast push the genocide phase further down and swords would be marvelous creations of a true smith. They are only overpowered cause its so easy to make em.

The thing is theres really not much you can do to prevent mass genocide from happening. No matter how "good" you are. Having 10% murder rate is horrendeous... I mean lets say average village size is 10 to 20 people of different ages. So you are bound to have a murder or two in your life. Usually these murders happen in clusters and you get bunch of them when this drama starts to occur. So you'll probably live few peacefull lives and then withness a mass genocide and all you can do is run away with your high yum count.

I myself run the vanilla client only. Seems like most players tend to mod. So for me theres really 0% chance to fight back in anyway.

People create these weapons in fear of them(aka for selfdeffence only), but with the current system almost never have swords are used for selfdefence instead you are actually providing the next school shooter with his ak47. Well i guess its better that these Elliots release their anger here, but i would love to have some more ways to disencourage people from the path of war than just going full elliot yourself. Maybe we could have a way to dissarm people. Would love if you could imprison with shackels or stock, but it would just provide griefers a new fun tool.

Making sword much harder to make would make creating of it a consious decicion of a skilled player of a tool of mass destruction. Now its made from most important tech early stage parts with a hammer. So you have these first time players creating em just to test em out. Theres no really skillcap in forging a fine sword which was actually a token of smiths skillsets in real world.

The thing is, you have to work constantly towards dissarming towns to avoid killing sprees. Every knife has to be backbagged or turned in to shears, there cant be arrows laying around in the town(makes bear grieffing much easier), even better if you slay every nearby duck from the ponds, you cant leave pipes laying around(yet you need em for most important tech the oil/pump) or they turn into swords, people may even waste villages only ingots to swords rather than making a watersource, you have to pep talk people to not make em go rampage. Its a constant effort to dissarm villages. Spam some /love and distract them with some other nonsense. This all takes time for actual creating new kinda townsystems and enjoying the best part of this game.

Worst thing is that you cant actually trust anyone, evnethough majority of players are goodhearted few rotten tomatoes can do serious devastation and there is noway of thelling that. Usually the swords are created in means of selfdeffence, but eventually end up into wrong hands and turn against you or some other poor soul. Also these murders hit in clusters. There maybe few generations of peace but then it all get wiped with few swords.

Making swords is too easy. Maybe if the recipe would be harder(add all that hilt armguard building, sharpening hardening etc) then there would be less swords and the swords that are made would have more value and would be taken care of and transfered to "capable" hands.  That being said tho the capable hands can actually murder whole towns unlike noobies. Usually they dont even know how to shift and drop them weapons on your feet making their attention very clear.

Seriously tho, this one item has so huge impact on whole gameplay that almost everything else has to be done that in mind and you can create it by hitting a hot pipe...

edit: btw is "/die" a natural death, if so it tweaks the stats really hard...

Imo its totally different thing to kill people out of their ignorance. Getting at way of things when you are actually providing more than all the rest of the village people together for the community and someone tryes to hinger your level of produce. Theres a lesson to be learned and people learn best (or atleast remember bit better) when it hurts. You simply dont go f around with you berry bucket moving things around  when someone is in middle of making something complex that will serve many generations.

Killing just for the sake of killing is totally different. It serves no goal. Theres no lesson to be learned...

Yes create armor to sustain hits. Oneshotting sucks bigtime. 0 skill all about who draws first  and if you are peaceful by nature you'll be the one to eat the hit.

Imo somekinda karma system could be real nice. That way we would have peaceloving towns that prosper on technology and marvelous buildings. On the otherhand you would have these raggedy ass warmongering towns that are all about forging every iron ingot into swords and conquering the prospering town from the peaceful folk.

This way swords and fences would actually work. As in peaceloving town you would know that you dont get siblings that are murderous in their intentions and use every piece of technology to kill. You could maybe even do the fences proper as people who are pro peace prolly know how to build stuff and how to take advantage of thing. The ownership would transfer and the swords that are made are solely for defence.

I get that some players love the idea of war. Heck even some cultures are solely created to serve the purpose of war.

This being the case, there needs to be someway to differentiate from these people. Why the heck does dalailamas and mahatma gandhis always born into fucking SPARTAAAA!

Create somekinda karma score system, which counts you warsword hits and you get to be born into a mother who likes to wield her sword too and the gandhis and lamas can be born to the paradise where all the pumps, buildings, soil, gardens and technology is being made. Its a freaking shame that you are force born into blade wielding amazons when you are totally from different mindset and pro prosperity.

You could skip few irons in early camps when you didnt need to use pencil to create scrap bowl, you can reforge the chisel and file after you created saw, now knife is a deffo must make item cause of the scrap bowl. Creating knifes creates opportunities for murder.

Rope making is seriously made too hard. In real life you could theoreticaly make rope out of any plant cause they all have fibers, some are just longer than other that affects the durability. You aren even solely depended on plant fibers you can also use animal fibers like wool to create rope. Heck you could prolly make a rope out of your own hair. 420 blaze it rastamon.

Lets say you could make rope ez and make those sweet pinepanels. Add grieffer-->add axe-->lots of kindling-->profit. So pinepanels are super material costly and really eazy to grieff.

What pvp needs is a hit counter or some armors. Its just retarded to get "one shotted". Theres seriously no counterplay to that. If you could survive one hit then odds could turn with some good gameplay. Now its just who draws first.

Its not really that hard to get the baby into the town with cart/horse. You literally have free space for wild foods to  gather andmunch on. Also the baby is free item slot once he ages. You can dump all the cloth(skirt, seal skin), to him. Craft him a basket with sharpstone and drop the sharpie into the basket. The baby should be able to provide himself.

I freaking hate when babies suicide on me at wild cause they think i cant take care of them.

Surviving in wild is the easiest thing in this game... if you have a sharpstone.

Well the state that this game is in at the moment in my eyes is something that i dont want to be part of. Either we find a solution or ill just quit cause its so far from what it used to be. I believe im not the only one. Im still trying tho. Had one run today. A kiddo released 7 bears on the village as i was 60...

Been in few games that died out, and usually the mass mobs of murderers are the mark of the beast--> Old legends tire out of working hard for something that is lost so easy --->no one takes care of the cities-->murder mobs get bored--> game dies.

GIVE US A WAY to differentiate from the bad genes! (and also a way to deal with mosquitoes)

Ye total utopia this is. What i find people doing when they come to "help" is standing on top of the iron piles, picking up stuff in disorder and moving every single object to a different place at the forge.

What i like to do is lit a own fire for the forge. As you cant count on people actually keeping up the town fire. Might aswell have a fire at the forge which never wears out, but theres a downside tho. It attracts gossip girls. They come in hoardes with their babyes and berrymunching habbits. They starve you out of any foods you have gathered there to keep you fed while forging and block objects with their speech bubles and babyes. Ask you stupid intructions(where is bunnies, have you seen...)when you are obviously occupied wiht hardcore metal beating. Asking directions from smith is like asking a baby to spell blitzcrieg bop. Smiths stay at the forge. Ask the hunter!

Was thinking of ways how to counter this by hard labour.

Making shears and sounds good. Also thought about forging every iron ingot piece laying around as your everyday tools, hoes, shovels, chisels, froes, you name it. It creates a problem tho, you dont have the ingots for the pump pieces. I havent yet bothered to myself to build one, so what im thinking is.... What basic parts do you need for pump the most. Its the piston blanks right? (and pipes ofc, but wont be needing to make those as you get em from warswords) Maybe some pump god could point me out what to make of the pipes. Lathe and bore them?

Getting rid of bows needs more convoluted plan.

First you need to slay every goose living in ponds near your city to starwe the city out of arrow making materials. You can't get rid of all the flints, skewers or the snares as they are needed also in other activities in town, but feathers serve no other purpose than arrow making.

After that you get the bow and all the arrows and start running around in the wild shooting big game, aka bisons. Just put a one arrow in it so the arrow sticks. Bears would be option too, but it creates just another problem.


Also spam nursery tools to counter the rando kill.


If we have even few capable peacelovers doing this, you can pretty much starve the game out of war materials XD

I dont know what it is that people like in war and drama. Constantly people are making knifes and warswords, creating drama in the village.

No one really builds anything, or if you do it just get ruined by few morons that are pro war.

Whats the point in genes, when you can drop in a second from top 100 to bottom cause of warmongering siblings. There needs to be some way to differentiate from these people. Just like the donkey town thing. You should have somekinda karma score or something like that depending on how many kills you commited. The counter meter could be the babyes you give birth to/aunt birth.

I freaking miss the good old dayes of carrot farming. Nowdayes this game is just beating people with knifes and warswords and i highly dislike it.

Well the few times i've been trapped the whole civ stands for the idea. Even come and taunt the imprisoned ones. If its just a single individual you can just curse him and convert other to curse also.

Usually these civs do this prisoning stuff to get so called "baby machines". Grieffers are their whole own story.

This is the exact reason why property fence sucks hard. It's only used for hard grieffing and never to protect the family property.

You think trapping a kid is gonna make her stay and play for the civ. I've been trapped few times and that thing just angers me. Usually i just sink low and hard grieff everything that civ has.
