wells are useless, someone will take the last bit, and then its empty you cant fill it.
once i was putting it back after was empty, not sure on that, i didnt move and used the right click right after, i would like to know if its possible, should be
anyway 10 hours is too long when longest family lasted 8 hours
cisterns are a good ideea, we tested on the other run, i was stumbling into some limestone and got the ideea of making a cistern. was a nce colony where they were getting old, mom started popping kids, 3 at a time, we were many, we went on fetching water than one guy told we should move the plots, exactly my idea, we started moving the soil next to the water, 4+2 ponds pretty close.
then i came up with making a cistern, fetched the limestone, they wanted to put next to farm, i told them to put further away, i made two cisterns next to 4 and 5 ponds, and was better cause the main ones depleted fast, while the distant ones were regenerating by that time. we made carts and started over-farming.
also carrots give 7 seeds from 5 carrots now.
I played a game, where you age one year after stepping one tile, you had to earn gold, be stronger, marry someone, have kids, then continue as your kid, forgot the games name, but i remember some mechanics
it was interesting that you could build 3 or 4 building and the city changed to that type
also you born with random genetical traits and you could mix them to get better ones, the girls were different looking, and they required different skill/look/fame or gold to accept marriage
the one thing it could be implemented is genetics
for example:
hot resistant, cold resistant - no penalty from temperature
big stomach: 5 extra bars when adult
longevity: 5 extra years you can live(bars would decrease accordingly)
also negative traits to balance out: slow, big eater, cannot perform certain actions
this would give some extra layer to strategy
eves can spawn close to each other but thats a problem most cases, not a help, jason told that we will spawn 7000 steps from a town, so you need to run half your life having a kid which is kinda impossible, and if you settle you dont even want to do that, i kinda think smaller cities should be repopulated
somethimes when is chaotic a family can scatter to neighbouring biomes and eves can appear close by, look for signs of life like many branches, rabbits killed, items left on map, empty berry bushes, should show a pattern
in one of my lives i made a house of 4x4 from adobe. fetched 4 carts of adobe. a fast way could be making half walls this takes the stakes but you can make 11 stakes , put in basket, build a 4x4 half walls.
wasnt filled trash pit dissapearing after a time? you can use dug out big rocks as well, to block sheep movement
just a note about kiling a sheep, hte bonepile blocks movement so dont make 1 wide fence and maybe put a cart inside
A family meal would be a very potent meal, would fill everyone to maximum and only to maximum, no waste.
Would require a cauldron to make which would be a complex item to create, also a special table where all dudes could sit. Would also require to sit all the same time to start, it would only fill one bar if not(to prevent stupid deaths). Also would take a little longer to eat, as it would fill one by one.
The recipe would require several carrot, berry, bunny, wheat, water and leafs. There would be three different versions, small , medium and big. Would have an after effect of a slow down and would spoil in few minutes if not consumed.
This would give an optimal way for groups to feed, with many conditions to met, and some teamwork to make it efficient, also a little brief between the members of the group.
well changing every day would be too much but changing weekly or monthly is fine
reborn code can be unique too, like giving to young girls then triing to reborn there
yea is funny when at 9 year old i just go with full gear and snares xD
And our kids have to die with it !
Somehow I got used to babies dying already. I might even like it now. Ki(n)d of sadistical pleasure hearig that "ugh" sound.
hi, wassup? xD bored at that run i tought i starve at 50
yeah its necessary, to let some die, simple math
todays funniest was when i was setting up small outpost near the lake, i might even wanted to do a cistern there and like 6-8 farm tiles to help people get water in main base, also managed to make 10 milkweeds there and a firewood line signaling the wae
comes a naked kid, i pick up the last carrot i had on the gound, he says "no, help". i kinda realized that he gonna starve, but then "wtf you do naked in the forest?", he didnt see cause ugggh
he took the pouches, i used them, refilled them and then the other guy complained no one knows about the other farm and they needed the pouches, was a famine. well i was gonna bring it back but then. too busy laughing..
say Q when born so they know you read forums
say HI when you can type two bars
communicate later, dont try to type 1 by 1 is annoying to decipher
you can still be fed for 2 minutes, takes 1 bar from mom, fills you up
carrots refill 6 so you should eat when you got 9 bars at least and wait until drops to 3. if lags then 4
Have you increased the food output?
Have you created backup carrot farms with water reserved?
Have you planted berry bushes?
have you explored the town to see how it works?
Have you asked anyone how to help?
Have you brought gear back?
If the answer is no, then you cant raise kids. Especially not more than one.
Today had two nice towns i been. Every kid was left alive, i controlled myself but my sisters just tossed kids into fire and somebody raised them. The end result was famine, thiefs, i barely could make my backpack without people moving everything i made so far. a guy just stole a cart of seeds i got for the farm.
The other run somebody just cut the last wheat and never bring water to next one, 15 wells and all dry
People cant control themselves, they keep all kids and everyone dies at a point, kid spawning should happen less for does who already got one, name the kid, show the place, teach it or dont keep them at all.
we might need help from jason on this, players cant limit this by themselves.
Milkweed seeds decay, so you can't do that.
decay after a while, but if you die as a male before anyone founds you wont matter anyway, its the fastest way and its useful if you would setup farm
as an eve stumbled into a road once and didnt knew left or right so that sux more
uou can do permanent one but takes lot of time
shadows soldier made a video "one man from scratch", was great to see waht to do in action
there are some guys with good skills, no subscribers but actually enjoyable, hope belaaner picks the game up, he was awesome at oxygen not included
We should be able to balance the basket on our head, while we carry the babies.
or put in backpack or cart, they would use 3 slots out of 4
maybe another item to tie them on your side
depends on map too, seen some with two packs of 16 tiles of soil im pretty sure its not a big waste to let some carrots seed. with 2-3 soil pit of course it is.
reed, clay and water is important, some bugged mini desert tiles dont have a rattlesnake and help with raising kids. a full gear needs 12.5 rabbit fur. long term the poaches then the backpack best, then loincloth(as sheeps dont make pants). seals are kinda better than wasting 3-4 fur for upperbody and killign them isnt dangerous.
the numbers you provide are interesting and makes me feel even worse about having sons beiing male and i will hold those stupid babies until they understand not to keep all the kids
well 5 carrots make 7 seeds, 4 carrots make 4 seeds, nd use the soil anyway. was nerfed from 10 to 7 and the compost made worse. so yes, its pretty self explanatory why wild seeds are good now. i see eves cut out carrots from ground and i got a bad feeling. i mean i did this too but destroys the chance of a city.
if you want somebody to find you set up arrows made of milkweed seed or branches and milkweed seed. you need like 7-8 seeds to form a directional arrow, or 3 branches straight then some seeds to show direction. people can notice man made signs and follow it.
edit: make out of branches and flat stone
three can be possible, 4 cant really be natural, if you place a stone or flatstone at the end shows direction as a vector, soemtiems they come from side and cant decide
few tips: you start picking up things at 8 food bar boxes
you can go with a basket of food to explore, try to make a home marker and move in a spiralic way outwards
ask family where things are like furs milkweed, snare, what they need
swamp biome contains the lakes, clay, reed, best place to setup farm, move the soil there after picking out carrots
try to find a horizontal desert, which is bugged into other biome, so small patches all around, this tend to be perfect temperature, if cant find, go under a desert, and build kilns on hot tiles, so you spend your smithing on perfect temp mostly
you still need small green biome, and big swamp
run on edges of biome to see what is the size of it, easier to imagine where you are in the world, a small biome lacks resources usually, they form a closed circle so if you run around it, you see most of it and you wont get lost
a desert biome with many cactuses can be also beneficial, place flatstones to signal the way 4- in a line signals way between cactus and city, if you can make entire roads, you cant die to snake or bear
green forest biome contains the food, best way to start game, but the only important thing for a camp is to have the trees close enough to make a fire later on, so you need to make your camp between desert and sswamp and green biome, close to a yellow one advantage, also iron isnt bad but easier to carry resources other than branches, avoid metal and desert if you can, can be dangerous animals
you need to make a farm as soon as possible, this requires the ability to move water, so pouches or bowls are your options
to get a pouch, you need one rabbit, 2 milkweed stalk and to cook a rabbit on a fire
bowls are a bit more complicated as they need reed, clay to make a furnace, tongs made from a long straight shaft with a flint chip, clay and a stone, then fire and quick clicks to make at least 3 bowls and maybe 3 plates, one noozle, you can even make charcoal if you palce adobe after making this seven items, 9 can be done, more if others help
make new ones for oven and pie making, dont take it from smiths, dont leave the plates in wilderness
you need to keep this in mind when choosing location, reet renews each hour, clay is finite, buildings require both, close to a mapple tree and a juniper to make fire is better, in the middle of the green biome you need a lot of time for each water run, also is colder than desert now , if someone dies, others cant even find water and start starving
might be a good ideea to build small outpost farms and leave it dry but prepare the water.
edited after updates temp changes, deserts become more viable
captain sauce is a player who makes me laugh every time. the small details he notices, he made one video and he sucks at the game but boy oh boy he was funny.
The xp system would be based on groups of items you crafted from basic to advanced items, you couldnt use some of them if you never crafted them ie. weapons on other players.
The karma system: once you kill someone, you would receive negative karma, this would make you born into families with low xp system and high death rate or as an Eve over and over until you improve it by making larege families where kids survive long, and you craft things. Also keeping kids and naming them, feeding them would give plus karma to born into larrge and wealthy families. Some randomization, more options would be nice, like similar playstyle families, similar xp level players as reward, or doing things what you didnt before would give you higher xp kids/parents.
after a few bad runs, like nobody accepting me, got to a family in desert they had a small farm, i took some carrots explored north, one thread and a milkweed, asking for a snare nobody answer, explored south, made my first snare, headed to forests, eating berries, cactus, geared myself up, didnt wanted a child and most kids accepted it, a girl was just running around didnt even let me to tell her that we got a city. then a boy died after seeing a farm, was the biggest today, so dont understand, after four lost kids wanted someone, but i couldnt anymore, so i went back to south bringing stone for a well, clubbed a seal, made the well, made the seal jacket. the only fertile woman died by a wolf, i took revenge , killing it, no thread to make a hat. my sister died before me telling "kids are useless". a nepfew was makign tools, first was the axe and shovel.
i gave him my seal jacket and the wolf, my sister gave the shoes and pants, one extra backpack.he told me he goes to find a family. i died alone, fully geared with almost nothing accomplished, never talked to anyone other than my sister. my mom fed me 2 carrots as she was too old to feed. and died before i came back with some bunnie meat. they made a lot of progress but the city died.
even more bad moms, one throw me to a rattlesnake.
then a mom was close to making fire, and had a barely functionable carrot farm, she told me that i will be his only son, until more food arrives, had to see my brother die, but was a correct decision. i went exploring bringing thread, she went with a water pouch, never to return again. her last wors: good boy as seen me drop a thread near the camp. i made a farm near a snowy area with 3 laeks, the only place she didnt explored. made my small 8 tile farm, used her furnace to make bowls, found a camp south where somebody died even sooner, got my reed skirt and went to find mom by the water she first found when i was born. she was nowhere to be found, never returned.
made a few snares, gone back to cook rabbit, made an adobe wall as monument, left my carrots dry. went back, made a pack and died at 59 years running back in a mix of 4 biomes. lost a lot of time running , eating berries and never had a sister to help me.
i like small to medium cities. like having a carrot farm so i dont worry about food, but still challenging when a famine runs, triyng to fix problems like bear attack, bad logistics, mikweed shortage. when all tools are there is kinda feels boring. nobody needs anything, kids are selfish and start griefing. a few runs i was hunter, spawned int osame place 3 times, i was gearing everyone up, making more than 10 backpacks in a lifetime, filling with carrots and giving to newborns then taking it back when they died. even enjoyed a city with some sheeps, small milkweed farm, grew into my heart, or once when my mom died and raised my brother then we had random eve settle and making a bit of progress. i dont enjoy starting over and over just to end up dieing before i can start crafting advanced tools.the game needs more content, different paths. now you can have 2 types of clothing, like 4 types of food the foraging, the farming, hunting then mixing both. i would enjoy some kind of group events, random weather, for example rains, and picking mushrooms after it, hot wheather when you would need to store up water, hurricanes, fire, wild animal attacks, npc attacks (if the fighting system wouldnt be 1 hp aim to kill), just soome random events which would modify the rules temporarily.
some games you were born in big cities but only 1 of each tool and nobody could use properly, it can be fun that too. but you can always leave a big city, run 5 minutes and make an outpost.definitely should allow/force playing as an eve or as a small group.
2-4.th generation is enjoyable, i seen cities where 5th generation made everything and the griefing started
A home marker should fall out if a person dies, a grave should show a name and some statistics like items crafted, food consumed.
yesterday on many restarted runs i was pretty annoyed at the end, usually my mom kept all children, they die, had a mom once, she was pretty good, managed to make a furnace and an oven, a farm she couldnt water, then converted to berries, my brothers and sisters often die early or ask stupid questions like "where is the pouch?". make one you spoiled bastard. one run after apocalipse, all my family vanished, but later i found them. also found water and some farm tiles, empty, watered them amde a farm, went back to starting location, told them i got a farm and water supply, my brother told me that "i worked hard, i dont leave, we got water too"
in the middle of a green biome, sure. a lady came over asked if she can join, then she left with a snare and never seen again. didnt take my furs and made her own snare so was fine.
i adopted an eve and a kid, and we ran the farm, i seen them goofing around but they helped a bit. was good that my legacy wasnt falling apart totally.
the other run, in morning, born in a rich berry farm, hectic child factory, became a hunter , geared up, died in the desert by a rattlesnake near a tree. next up as an eve, wandering around, clubbed a seal, carried my kid, a hunter escorted me back to same city, found my gear had six kids, died in green biome by rattlesnake before i had any fun.
next after few other games, born in same city, went for my gear, somebody just found it, told him was mine he gave me back my pack after i was asking for it. managed to raise six kids, made a new farm in swamp, near the berrybush city, brought a grandson to take care of it. later i born back there and to my surprise the farm was still running and was the most populated on the server, my kid jumped out my hands and everybody running crazy the screen went white.
other run, i and a granma survived from 10 kids and reached old age, one nephew was starting a furnace, helped on wood, on seeds, geared myself fully, watered farm, we were like 4 constant players and the rest just goofing, at my old age i seen my nephew making the axe and chopped down all annoying swamp trees, i gave him my backpack, pants and hat and died. we barely talked, was a fun run
i can survive on my own, i can raise all kids seeing half of them die and not seeing half of the half anymore, as a guy i adopt an eve sometimes and we make some progress,i can pick a good location to settle down. i cant do much crafting when i get very old, but itry to make something useful for future generations.
i also used the desert trick, once i shoved my mome that, on the horse update day, that some desert tiles are perfect, she choose to die there then i too
dont keep all the kids
dont move water to the soil, move the soil to the water
focus on one thing at a time and ration your food, dont risk it
even if you die make something memorable
some of you just talk without experiencing really crazy towns
i spawn first on a village all milkweed was gone, that takes one hour to regrow
water wells hold 7-10 then they are useless for 10 hours
berry bushes can die out cause people wait for carots, its worse when you try to look around the map and die at age 10-15
i rather die as a baby
did a few runs, you actually got no clue how many females are sometimes
i had a run where all boys survived while girls dont because they were noobs
they tried keep all alive they killed all
there is a limit how many can you handle, like a new run when you setup carrot farm, maybe 5-6 when goes above 10-14 liek 6 of them will die
get some rules and dont feel bad about killing off some babies, dont waste their game time
i pefer having a daughter who is smart enough but i dont just kill off boys
people who communicate are smart enough to live, ask yes no question and tell them to ask to feed
show around ask what he can do, i seen people afk dieing near fire cause were too old
keeping all is just a waste most time
my rules so far: when i only turn 16, and can have kids, one at a time, it seems they use more of your hunger meter, which can kill you very easy even in full gear
i dont feed others kids, if the parents dont name them , even if they do and dont ask for it, "hey raise my kids cause im bored of it". i still wont if we dont have resources
we should help new players to learn but they should and could pick up things from youtube videos
had some kids run away after i told that we got not enough food
i would do the same, if they ask me
after 7 or 8 a run when i had full gear at eight scavenging for myself only could teach one properly
you cant spend all gametime with running after kids
also you need to extend accordingly or you are the fault of famines
