If only ants ate garbage in real life,
but, Jason had something similar to this; we called them ruins. About 90% of a town would be removed, and all the trees and plants would regrow. Then, as an Eve, people could get lucky and find an axe, or a firebow, at randm in the wild, maybe along with 1/4 of a building they could finish up and have a quick home.
This is going to be a spoiled little bush.
200328 0210 New Well

Feels good to have this little chunk of the road completed after so long.
200328 0203 Tundra Road
I'm just glad I've seen Jason talk about these changes in the forum, and then seen them in onetech's unreleased content, so I could mentally prepare for the change ahead of time. Though, that's not going to give us an indication of where the next 'butter knife' is going to be, and how to deal with that. For that we'd have to go through the github data and look at what's, really, been changed, or, ignored.
I know there are still some, potentially, game changing aspects that people have mentioned, like fug and the 'snow forts'. I'm a little reluctant to bring it up, because, it will be changed, but being able to build a house from a single bank of snow, which has the potential to save a lot of food, given the near perfect balance of temperature inside, is pretty OP. But, average players aren't as keen on the relationship between temp and hunger. Nearly every life I still get picked up routinely by the fire by people who clearly are not considering my temp and food meters. They don't look at me and instinctually feel the clock stretch with each piece of clothing, proximity to heat source, or within the closed walls of a room.
When one of the biggest problems in the game is firewood being turned into kindling, because people don't want to take the time to collect branches, a key renewable resource in this game. They don't want to turn branches, into charcoal and use that to reset the fire via charcoal powder - no one does that, but it gives off a lot more heat, for a lot longer, than just throwing kindling onto the fire. It's a comparable amount of heat for a comparable amount of time, to firewood, and the branches are free forever, whereas cutting trees costs food...
It's going to be rough. I really hope those of you who understand these things, remain kind, and act quick.
Chuck the berries from wild bushes out and get those timers reset and make a lot, A LOT, A LOT! more bowls and pouches. The world, is going to need them.
Keep those branches growing.
A lot of the world's flags follow similar patterns, and I wonder if it would be possible to use procedural generation in making a flag. The most popular colors, popular combinations and formats. It would be cool to have a flag.
Bolt of Wool Cloth + Dye = Colored Bolt of Wool Cloth + Dye
Then
Item + Paint = Paint Coated Item + Bucket
And
Paint Coated Item + Colored Bolt of Wool Cloth = Item + Flag Design
Let's say, possible items start at 4, and, let's say there were 6 colors of paint and 6 colors of dye.
That'd be... 24... 144 different possible flag combinations.
Basically just 4 flags, with different colors combinations, but...any of the ones like white on white or black on black, could be removed. So, more like 120.
And, similar technique could be used to color walls or to make wall paper, or even to design floor tiles. Wood floors could be painted, for color, and then an item could be dipped in paint to add colored patterns to the tiles. Currently for crowns, we have leaf, carrot and wolf, but, we could add another, like, the mushroom.
Mushroom crowns, mushroom wallpaper, mushroom flag, mushroom floor tiles. All in red and white themes. or white and green, if you're into the 1-up look, or, black and green, of you're a vinesauce fan.
Future combinations could then be added, if requests for them were persuasive enough, or, Jason just up and decided that bear pelts or smith's hammer or clay bowls, could be used as stamps.
OR
It could be even more tedious, and there could be an ocean biome with sponges.
Item + Sponge = Sponge with Item
Sponge with Item + Charcoal Pencil = Sponge with Item and Outline + Chacoal Pencil
Item is removed, outline exists on sponge
Shears + Sponge with Item Outline = Shears + Shaped Sponge Stamp
Then that stamp could be dipped in paint and applied to various surfaces or materials, to add the pattern.
Banana, Cactus Fruit and Fish could be biome-based, family specific, stamps
is that sims2? some of that looks good
checkered and striped mostly
You made me think of the floors and wallpaper in the original sims, so I typed sims floors into Google and that popped up as one of the picture. Wasn't sure which one it was from.
It shouldn't be stolen and replaced, I guess if you rip it off then it converts back to the original item, then gets the style based on the family/well site ID. Also, another reason why it shouldn't be too complex to make and costing too much, it should be statical.
I guess if each family would have his overlay for board floors that would do.
I was thinking more like the bear rug equivalent of fruit boots or seal skin coat; that they could be stolen or repurposed, but that it would be easier for, say, the jungle biome family, to gather resources from the jungle to make a floor covering, like, I don't know, maybe palm fronds. They could either just be laid on an existing floor tile, as fronds themselves, or be fashioned into something more like a conventional rug.
Maybe the gingers could have caribou or reindeer, and their fur could be fashioned into a rug.
Not sure about the desert. Lion was the first thing that came to mind because of the black people, but, lions don't really inhabit desert regions. I do know that in the Sahara, people farm olives and figs, generally near an oasis. Maybe people make things from those plant's fibers. I wonder what Berber carpets are made of? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berber_carpet looks like Olefin fiber, Nylon and wool, among other material.
Problem with my interpretation of your idea, is then, what do white people get? They haven't been given a biome to collect any unique materials. Maybe just something from the swamp, grassland, prairie or badland? Or, maybe they get a biome of their own. The ocean? The mountains? Maybe.. taiga?
I suppose I see what you are going for, with the more so family specific varieties, instead of the biome specific, resource based ones. Guess I'm not a fan though of the homesick, family well, idea, but I do see it as a new part of the game that can have a purpose, just not sure I like where it might lead, when the same players are born to families of every race, in the same world, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. There is no loyalty encouraged, no Horde vs Alliance, sort-of mentality, to arise from gameplay. No preexisting story behind why there should be these distinctions, when again, all the same people.
Looking for those two gold got me thinking, about a lot of gold nodes I'd seen closer to where the families are currently at.
I thought about the biomes I'd seen, while looking for flat rocks for the road, and remembered a particularly large one, just 100 meters northeast of the castle town on the road, I think I even saved a few of the gold coordinates, in previous screenshots, but, I figured I'd map them all out again.

I think I passed by more than 10 of them, but I got the coordinates for enough for 8 bells and didn't have to melt down a crown from a past life, sorry Dobbies, but even Siddhartha was in line to be a king, before he left home and became an ascetic.
So I made 4 bells.

And put them up in the Castle Town.
Maybe you heard them ring for the first time?
Another good life, worth living. May the bells help to guide you, around the world. I'll be back to work on the road, soon. Got to figure out a plan, for how to keep the food of the world alive as well. I'm thinking of keeping a pouch handy, filling it in ponds and refreshing any of the wild bushes I come upon that could use a drink. Then refilling and keeping the water handy as I go. I hope some of you are willing to do the same. It's going to be rough out there, but we'll make it work.
I'm sure the Eve camps will have absolutely no problems.
Anywhere you like, is just fine fish,
anywhere is fine.
Maybe raw bats could some day be a delicacy?
For only the most, regal, palettes.
So much, is possible...
But I do especially like the idea of biome/family specific floor coverings, given the current racial discriminations.
Definition 2, of course.
I'd dig seeing some floor tile variety.
And I'm sure others would as well.
"Ooh is that a Persian rug, where'd you get it?"
"Stole it from the Persian family's home."
"LOL"
"XD"
I can get behind this! Many ways to play, not one size fits them all. Sometimes it needs to be said.
And Fish, I really hope you do. I really hope everyone does. Let us not forget, that we, are in full control of our lives. Every one of them, an opportunity, to make, do, and see, what we can become, of the world.
Clearly, there are, degrees of order we have found, amidst past chaos.
Let us all continue to shake things up, and watch the big nuts, rise to the top of the can.
We can make anything we want, of this world, and to those willing, with enough perseverance and determination, people will follow suit.
But not because we are forced, unwillingly, we must be inspired, enthralled, and motivated, by the prospects of satisfaction and reward, that those good habits, may yield.
The world, the world is not blind.
Enjoy yourself,
world,
enjoy the becoming.
We just grab the nearest pair of soft round body parts and squeeze. Works like a charm, regardless of gender.
Mmm, I like that as well.
Everyone could use a good squeeze in their softest parts, now, and again.
Even those, with the hardest of hearts.

What do you tell each other when you need to give yourselves a stern pep talk of encouragement, in the locker room?
I'm not even going to take a stab at it. But I can imagine.Get up, boss up, and straighten that crown Queen!
I like it!
You do that ladies, and may the best, of the best, rise to glory and be the rulers of their world, for all time.
What was, once, my families home.

And will always be, our home.

Even though I told myself in the past, "Next time I'm a ginger, I'm going to finish that that little piece of the road on the tundra." But did I do that this time?
No, I travelled thousands of meters all over the map, through uncharted territory, to find two, tiny, itty bitty gold nodes, so that I could proudly ring the bell, in my family's home!
Ladies, one of you is going to have to chime in here, because I don't know the equivalent expression for a woman.
What do you tell each other when you need to give yourselves a stern pep talk of encouragement, in the locker room?
I'm not even going to take a stab at it. But I can imagine. ![]()
DD, unless you want to, but why would you want to, where there is so much to live for?
Don't let the world get you down!
Grab your balls and JUST DO IT!
Yeah, stop telling your kids GL when they are 3yo... Tell them HF.
Seriously, my moms tell me GL so often and almost never HF...
And a GG to you, my Coconut Friend.
GG and DD!
If you want to tell your mother you love her, despite the occasional lack of reciprocation, you keep doing that!
If you want to try your hand at a life of your own, a little place out in the woods, near a particularly veritable abundance of wild berry bushes, with a few tools from the home you were born, by all means my good man, more power to you!
I bet that life was a blast for you!

You want to run in a northwesternly direction for 57 years of your life, with a sharp stone in hand, eating only burdock and poking every turkey you see along they way, GO FOR IT!
I would like to share with you, this picture of these tables someone has made along the road. Why?
Because I want to. I've never seen these before, and I wouldn't have seen then now, if I had been doing anything else, and I'm glad they are there.
Why? Why would someone put them there? I don't know, the universe is a mystery. Be glad you are a part of it and do what it leads you to do.
If the urge strikes you to stack up a mess of clay balls, do it.
Do it because you want to, and don't feel bad about not doing anything else.
Play the way you want to, where you want to.
Work on what you want, wherever it is in the world, as far as your knowledge allows you to get to it.
If you want to be a mom starting a new life at a fresh well, go out and find it.
If you don't want to be a baby born to a mom starting a new life, then /die if you want.
If you don't want to be a baby born to a mom starting a new life, but you don't want to /die. then wait till you are old enough to make the journey.
Just play where you want,
play the way you want,
every time you get the chance.
Let's all commit to this mentality, this, philosophy, of gameplay, and see where it leads.
If it pushes us ten thousand meters away from these homes we've been around for days, so be it.
Don't feel obliged, to farm, or make oil wells, or engines if you don't want to, do it because you want to.
Care for each because you want to, not because you feel you have to.
Play, the way you want, the way the game allows, and let's see where we go.
