Deep pvp is good. I know Jason has said that it isn't a pvp game but he is just wrong.. if you CAN pvp is it pvp don't matter what the dev wants at that point
now that you are in the pond it is better to swim than to say you arn't trying to get wet
it's even worse than an actual PvP
in an actual PvP both sides know there will be killings & the game is full with options to kill as well as to prevent being killed, to protect against being killed, to cure near death & the killing is not instantaneus with just one stroke, from 100% health to 0% & being booted out of the game
& as a game about killing is OHOL not interesting for me, already because i have to wait a long time to actually being able to kill, i have to play the game of stealth as well, if i want to kill by griefing additionally & the visuals are not attractive enough to grind through killing - that's why i don't kill in OHOL
also to enjoy killing in OHOL, a player has to get a kick out of killing helpless victims, i don't belong to that sort of players, i don't kick someone already lying on the floor, i am not a coward
i also don't understand Jason,
why does he introduce murder as gameplay option but neither gameplay consequences for doing so nor any of the mentioned protection options against being killed,
does he think players who play the usual 99% of games where killing is the objective, no matter if it's FPS or RTS or platformer or RPG or whatever genre, come to OHOL & play nice while given the option to kill ? without penalty ? ![]()

You can see who was murdered by cause of death in the family tree browser.
Last time I ran an analysis (two months ago, when griefing was at its peak and murder was easy to do without getting caught), about 1% of lives ended in murder.
Not sure what the rate is today.

my murderer laughed

i've been born multiple times next to bloody corpses
i've killed once a murderer of a mother caring for two kids, all members of the lineage i founded as Eve
i've died at 59 trying to help out with killing a mass murderer
i was several times entrusted with knives
i have fairly enough with scenarios of killings & murder in a game that claims to be about parenting & civilization building, not a word about slaughter of helpless civilians
& i don't even count all those killings of griefers i've encoutered
& what do you mean by "getting killed by a knife isn't a problem at all anymore", since when is it "anymore" ?
last time i played it was may 28th & that was the last straw to the pile above
& you can get killed by bow & arrow as well, since you apparently don't know ![]()

i am complaining about NO protection from murder, NO prevention against murder, NO cure for murder & NO consequences for the murderer
i am complaining about the complete helplessness of a murder victim & the favouritism of killings in OHOL
i do not know one single game where the killers are being favoured while the victims are being misled into the belief that the game is not about killing
i don't care how killing is called, griefing, culling or whatever
what i care about is being kicked out of a game i want to play by some other player & not to be able to do something about that
i play other MP games where kicking players out of the current game is one of the main objectives & every player has the same good chance of protection against that
OHOL on the other hand is THE most cruel game, where defenseless babies are being murdered MURDERED, young mothers holding babies are being murdered, peaceful farmers are being murdered, elders only a minute away from their natural death are being still murdered & the murderers after their heroic act of cowardice can even mock their victims & write lol & gg
as long the victims are not being empowered nothing about all that will change
if the equal power distribution does function in other games then it should work in this game as well
OHOL is just screwing peaceful players,
if RL would be this way, we would have died out long time ago
that's why i stopped playing
not even the suggestions i made here are meantime enough to enjoy the game at least a little for what it should be - a civilization building community to care for parenthood
because murder has no consequences that's why it's open season to kill left & right, that's the main game now of OHOL, there is no space left for the intended gameplay
the "funny" thing is
i opened my account here on the forums because i was murdered
the way didn't change a bit how i see the power OHOL has given a killing player over the TOTAL helplessness of the victims - it's destructive to the game itself
since then did Jason nothing to change that imbalance in favour of players who destroy his own game concept, well ...

i decided to quit playing until a substantial improvement happens
in favour of the victims, empowering the victims, encouraging the peaceful players
until then, i am not playing anymore

I think 2HOL doesn't have murdering
there is an even more simple solution
i just don't play this "game" anymore
so when is this comming ? cause meantime the remaning handful of players move to violent roleplaying while the others, like me, just stay away

do you even know why silk is still the most expensive fabric IRL ?
surely not because it's so common as to make some ropes from it, lol
so do we have to be still careful about those worms or not ?
can we till the hardened soil with a hoe even if the worm is in it & it doesn't kill the worm or is this still the thing ?
also yes, why should we care for replanting milkweed if it becomes plucked anyway ?
why replant berry bushes, maybe with some other update it just dies for unknown reasons or dies after the bowl of berries is taken from it
& why teach anybody anything ? what is there to teach ? & why even ask if a player is new ? previous experience doesn't matter anyway as it seems
or should i just widen the spectrum of things i shouldn't care about in the game now ?
i would like to know, cause if all things don't matter, incl the characters' life, then this game becomes rather expendable as well ![]()

i also am against the bucket carrying more than 2 portions of water tops, but i am ok with only one as well

did you follow what i suggested in the OP ?
it seems to me that players are targetted as victim especially if they are useful & are trying to improve the town,
it's griefing, the killers want to prevent towns from functioning, actually they want to prevent the game from functioning
the only thing that functions then is murder
... When your only suitable offspring decides to be a serial murdering griefer on the mediocre land your ancestors have settled, the game can be pretty damn frustrating sometimes. ...
this is actually funny
it's funnier though when not playing, as i atm do ![]()
sometimes i even regret not having fun griefing & murdering, since it's so easy in OHOL, way easier than trying to get a nice town going
it's just not enough players ? in the hope there will be more ?

Okay, fixed this in source. The fix will go live later this week.
Just don't walk north 1000 pixels from where you were born and click there.... there's a hidden text field up there that is the underlying mechanism for chat, and if you click in exactly the right spot, it comes into focus.
You folks who were having it happen over and over were in exactly the right spot...

i see it only from the perspective of a player in that situation, so this was just my guess
but it still is an issue
i see players just disappear, gone without trace
doesn't happen often but it was already several times
& one time one guy took all the goods with him, looked like intentional
Ok lately i have spawned into 5 villages in the desert where the people were grinding and i mean grinding away at a living with famin often. Did i miss some email where people think living in the hotest climate possiable or putting your baby above the fire in the desert is a good idea? I just want once to spawn into a village full of people that know how to play.
And on that not am i the only one that gets the worst eve spawns? Either no water for as far as i can go or no food? Its starting to get a little depressing when it happens almost every time.

& nope, you are not the only one spawning as Eve in horrendous biomes & biome constellations
though the last couple of times i spawned as Eve it was quite decent to even great !!!, got me thinking already that Jason changed the spawn system or something
because most times since the beginning i spawned as Eve either in badlands or in snowy tundra ![]()
so the actual problem is the lack of female babies if needed to keep the lineage alive
IRL there is the solution of adoption, maybe we should rather go that way, would work even better than IRL since in OHOL there is no genetics & all people look the same anyway
also, i think, weeks ago someone suggested the call for an Eve if a lineage is in danger to die out
i think, those bell towers would be of more use, if utilized this way
at the bell tower the last descendants could bring an offering to evoke an Eve to spawn, which then would be born into that exact family, so with that last name already
if there is no player available atm to spawn immediately, then an Eve would spawn later, first when available, maybe even already after everybody's dead from that lineage
but then oc, if i was that Eve, the lineage would still die out ![]()

i post it here because i sort of think it's not really intentional, it's a heavy exploit
since a player can disconnect at any time & just disappear, so i've seen users fully clothed, with a backpack filled with precious goods & a cart in hand packed to the brim just disappear with all of that stuff
it's a clever & quite an effective form of griefing, the smaller the settlement or the more struggling the more devastating is such stealing of stuff
i hope something can be done, like eg that the player disappears but all of the stuff stays put, as if they would die
