Sounds like you knew enough to know that eating from the fields and chopping down the nearest trees, would be an annoyance.  Huh?  Where or how'd you learn that?  Theres obviously a source of knowedge you're tapping.  Could it be that knowing what not to do can be just as important of information as what to do?

#27 Re: Main Forum » Unnamed people should be able to choose their family name » 2018-05-28 03:24:57

A suggestiin ive made before is that interacting with a fully finished grave by placing a rose on it, would give a person the last name attributed to that grave.  I think it's a good idea

So far since graves have been added and I've been playing as a grave digger it's become clear:  There's too many people born, for everyone to get a grave.
We need to preserve grave plots for the members of society that made a difference and deserve to be remembered.  It should be something to be earned and a driving reason for a player to give more than they take each life.  I further make the suggestion, that a proper burial reset being locked out of a lineage for a player.  This would allow players that make a difference to return and see that difference, while allowing a community to decide to dump the bones of that griefer, they get no respect, they are locked out like they should be.

The client giving a little heads up that the behavior was strange might help, I know I've had bounce but counted short of 10 seconds so I assumed it was slow connection on my end

I've been experiencing this too, along with other people disappearing momentarily.  As far as I can tell it happens when picking something up and can be annoying when starving

We would run out of the space required to keep horses though possibly.  And society is switching to more renewable energy sources because the fuel we use for cars is limited.  The "fuel" for horses is too because of land constraints.
On a side note I've seen villages that were farming wool and poop became an issue

A bell rings at 2:12 in that video, hopefully I can find it's origin, or at least my children will

Finally I see an example of using a box as a wall that you can pass items through

#34 Re: Main Forum » Hey Earthmans, Alicia here » 2018-05-12 12:43:02

I'm pretty sure I split off nd started a village south of the town with earthmen.  The town there had several families iirc, I was tempest masters and if you head straight south from earthmen village you may find a abandoned settlement

#35 Re: Main Forum » Where did the coordinates go? » 2018-05-08 22:23:37

You can always set up a custom server and omit these settings.  Like jason said, ypu can play that game, but if you want to be an immortal presence in a village you're not playing by the intent of this game, the game jason is making.

Its a bit like mutually assured destruction in my opinion.  It's only a deterrent if the use is implied.  And sometimes you have to nuke japan.  I got off track

#38 Re: Main Forum » The real reason some things (mainly walls) go missing after an update. » 2018-05-03 23:25:12

That looks awesome to me, it looks like a ruined town, it's not working like I thought it would but what it's doing is actually pretty great in itself.  It's not a bug, it's a feature haha

No way I think was there.  I raised the alarm cause Ecko was a weirdo.  If there was a someone running around saying "hut hut hut" while you were there, Was also me

No, let us all pray to the High Horse, bringer of the apocalypse, that the world shall not end again.

Jason stated that he wants it to be part of the mother-child relationship to increase how special the connection is.   Eventually the knowledge will spread, but every opportunity for someone to see someone get named is valuable to that learning.  On the other hand, our development of names could be seen as a villages culture developing over time.  An uninformed eves daughter may be the "inventor" of names in that village, showing the mother

#44 Re: Main Forum » Can I name myself? » 2018-03-30 16:15:03

Seeing someone name themselves is probably one of the easiest ways for new players to learn the mechanic
Edit update:  Jason has confirmed people won't be able to name themselves, (other than eves) over the Reddit suggestions.

You didn't include "assmann" or "peniston" noble family names indeed

#46 Re: Main Forum » Blocking bear caves » 2018-03-24 23:04:36

As a low resource way, dig a trench of trashpits with one fence as a gate
Will test right now
So by using trash pits to create a trench encircling a bear cave, while putting a fence as an exit, I was able to entrap a bear within the bear cave space
So this is a way one can entrap a bear.
If one wanted to disable the cave from spawning bears, one could effectively do so by making the trench entirely pits, no fence, removing the possibility of someone activating a bear

Interesting idea, it's my understanding that stacks of items (flint/stone) are coded as crafting recipes, But I haven't bothered to catch wether they get one of the crafting tooltips or not

No trolls would want them too, I imagine a shield is pretty indiscriminate in its function

Yeah, in my op8nion stationary guards protecting a central cache of the societies resources is what's feasible in early society.  So that a few guards can defend the wealth of everyone, to the end that the wealth is controlled in a way that prevents total collapse after disaster, or misappropriation of resources.  One issue with society in game currently is that all goods are the property of everyone, so everyone can invest accrued wealth however they want, regardless of wether it's in the best interest of the community.  In example your string for clothes can be made into ropes, making them less valuable.

So, only so many resources can be gathered from a given area in so many generations.  However, on any given server there could be a strong enough population to support a few small villages.  A strong, well situated settlement is capable of producing bows and arrows in surplus.  But regardless of how much some people want to mount a warband, to increase their wealth beyond the scope of their lands, how will they know they can find another settlement?
The solution: An eve from the established settlement, seeds settlements around that village, far enough that none of the peasants find the city, But close enough she can return and tell the war chief "tell your predecessor, the village is in the south" in a generation they head down there, bows and arrows, couple guys with carts, kill only who they have to, take what they can without leaving everyone dead (think taking string and steel, not food, you've got food on your back and at home) leave a different direction than where your town is, throw them off.  It's evil.  But maybe if a troll knows they're going to go primal, they won't murder you.  Maybe
