QQ, you have to deal with the consequences of acting like an asshat now as people can identify you if they curse you. If someone curses you then you can't be born around them naturally, and with the recent change you can't be born to them (though you can still be born around them.)

So you can't get a cursed player as your baby and they can't birth you but you can see when a shitty baby (or adult) is around the fire. This means in the case of adults you can toss a crappy baby out of the fire room and warn people or you can always just grow up and know who is likely to be doing the griefing around town.

The expanded radius is based off how many people are online that have the player cursed.

Five people curse the same person at one time but only one is online? The online person only has the 100 tile protection. One person curses a player but ten people are online have them cursed? Then each person has a 1000 ban area around them.

The ban thing is just from people who've been asking for bans on people who are extra shitty. I really REALLY doubt people are going to be cursing each other to try to specifically find each other because its easy to find certain players on the stuff they do in game when they play. It seems really wasteful to essentially try to form a sort bond between good players by spreading yourselves out via curses.

I definitely think it levels the playing field by taking away their anonymity since these people are making sure to repeatedly pull this kind of crap vs someone who might be doing something goofy once. While I'd rather see everyone see the same two name phrase it's understandable because as you said you would basically have the discord jumping on top of these people 24/7 (which seems fair since the stunts they pull on new players.)

Overall it's a good change either way. It rewards people who don't curse over minor incidents since a small list means you really know when you run into a bad egg. Good change either way.

Guy who griefs who would suffer from this exact mechanic QQ'ing.

In all seriousness why not remove the anonymity from serial griefers? Why should people "going against the spirit of the game" get to sneak around like cockroaches ruining the game for others? If anything he should go full curse name for each and every player because then these type of people get put onto an even playing field.

In the flip case where a troll curses a good player it should still work in the good players favor because they (should have) the troll cursed meaning its a mutual situation where each player knows the other instead of it being one way. Players spread information about bad players and then use this information to basically blacklist like we did in the black text bubble days. Maybe we have drama about babies being known assholes in the community and the village has to decide whether they want to risk someone who could potentially be a rotten egg.

No need to ban players when you can just hover over someone and see it's someone like Post who would basically just be shoot on sight for being such a shitter.

Sounds like a bunch of really good changes. Petty people using their curses for every little inconvenience will end up alone while people who properly use their tokens know who is a bad egg right away.

Mom blocking is nice but I think two way blocking would be even better honestly. Overall good changes either way.

Putting PVP in the hands of mob rule is a bad idea. Full stop. The game has devolved into a battle royale. There is no chance for cooperation. Civilization has broken down. Today I was murdered three times consecutively. Just while hanging out, cooking, making clothes, farming. I stood by a fire for half a minute while I sent a text message; someone attacked me. I ran to my specialty biome. More people came. A posse formed, some girl ran up with a bow. Nobody said anything about who or why, they just joined in on a senseless attack for no reason. I fled town and returned to my hometown. I arrived to someone being stabbed and as a doctor I run up to see why. "He killed a sheep" was the explanation. Then, a boy randomly attacked me- a bystander. I didn't even heal anyone. I escaped, disguised myself in another outfit and returned to witness another murder. Again, someone randomly attacked me. A posse formed instantly and I couldn't escape. It's completely senseless and stupid.

Uh huh. I bet all these mobs formed up to get you... I don't think I've ever seen or heard of this actually happening in game kek. While I agree posse's might not be the best solution I'm not going to make some random ass story up to support my side of the argument.

You hate property fences, and refuse to use them, which would allow you to "ban" whomever you please, in-game.... but then you want me to comb through logs and investigate individual people, hear from witnesses, etc... outside the game?  As if there aren't dozens of other griefers waiting to pop up as soon as I perma-ban one?

Where as before when people lived together in multicultural towns it was because they just liked seeing other families in game or there just wasn't a reason to keep them out. Then you flipped it over on its head where you absolutely need two-three families living together to have a functional town depending on the state of the game. Which makes more sense from a players viewpoint: Living together in a giant hippie commune with three families basically sharing and working together or putting up a fence and trying to trade with each other?

Also, as I've said in the past you can still grief property gates with newcomen blocks on 3/4 sides of the gates which then require an elder removal notice on one of the fences to escape. So even if the preferred idea was a bunch of fenced up towns someone can newcomen block the north side, south side, and west side of the village and the players inside CANNOT remove them and become trapped inside. Fences are death traps and if someone wants to come in they can just force their way in.

In regards to the permaban thing I don't see an issue. If they want to keep griefing and giving you money I see no downside lel.

Murder mouth and gasp are specifically there for people who play on the default client so they have a chance to see someone since attack ranges can basically be off their screens. Wait time periods of like 6 seconds aren't terrible as they basically stop someone from standing next to someone and randomly stabbing them (I always stood 2-3 tiles away from someone I talked to for this reason.)

Autoaim really is shenanigans. It's one of the only actions I can recall off the top of my head that can interact DIAGONALLY. Did you know people are vulnerable to attacks at this angle? Normally if someone was standing on an impassible object such as a wall, oven, fence, door, whatever you can't shoot them because you can't interact with players on an impassible but by walking to a NE/SE/SW/NW tile you can shoot through the object and hit them. Weird stuff, bad stuff.

I do think a snowball weapon should be in the game. Stun + slow down made it so you could confirm a kill on someone and required 2 different hits instead of the normal one (one for the snowball then the second with knife/sword/bow.) Though, I do think it should be a crafted item instead of a snowball to prevent gingers from having the ultimate weapon lel.

#509 Re: Main Forum » Giving people one extra hitpoint » 2020-02-06 18:46:48

If you get shot/stabbed by one person you absolutely deserve to die. The only time you are going to get run down by a single person is if you're a baby or you're manually clicking to run around. Last time someone tried to attack me solo I took their sword, knife, and then the arrow from their bow while essentially dribbling a rock around.

If anything we really need a new snowball weapon to make people drop stuff, slowdown and prevent item pick up for like 10 seconds or whatever the emote timer was. This solves issues with people running around on horses (if you get close enough you can stun + stab) It also makes combat a bit more interesting as then it's not a dumb game of deadly tag and instead about who is actually armed to properly fight.

Literally why?

They take 25+ hours to build vs an apocalypse which takes 24.

Just don't play in towns you dislike instead. Really easy fix for this issue.

#511 Re: Main Forum » You can add one item to the game: what is it? » 2020-02-06 00:36:21

Expanded animal husbandry.

I want to see different colored horses through horse breeding.
Domestic koi ponds, - man made fishing holes
Grubs, worms, beetles. - More icky bugs for baits and other purposes.

Mice, rats, pests! Stuff that eats stuff on the ground.
Lions, Tigers, Bobcats - More tameable useless animals to look cute.
Chickens, (domesticated) turkeys, ducks - It's foul there's not enough fowl!

The point is I'd like to see more needed or at least a more expanded animal list in game.

Their should be a horse update

- Horse die of old age

- Horse will need to be feed, this could be with sugar bowls, carrots, and wheat
making Horses more resource intensive

- Horse's will be breedable, but they both need to be tamed, and unsaddled
To counter act the dying horses, and so that horses can be more avalible

- Horse will poop a lot, their poop will decay in 5 min and can't be used for compost, but poop can be moved with shovel and bucket combo
This means keeping horses take up a lot of space

- Horses will need to stop and rest every 5-10 min for 1-3 min
because horses are animals

- Horse rubber tire cart decays (faster then the normal tire cart)
because normal tire carts decay

and I think that would make Horses slightly powerful

Dumb restrictions are dumb. Make cars better instead of all these gimmicks to bring things down in power because he doesn't want high tech to be useful in the first place.

Remove the hands of adults so they can no longer pick things up to make it fair for babies who can't interact at all. Haha, now its balanced!

This game philosophy of nerfing things for the sake of dragging out the long stale content is just plain dumb at this point. Make cars into tractors or sprinklers, give them more slots, make them do literally anything instead of nerfing the horse to make up for how shit Jason wants cars to be.

It's frustrating how much fun this game used to be where you had tons of choices of what to do and now it's all about restricting that until there's barely any left at all.

Remember when each life you had the choice to do whatever you wanted? Remember when the only thing holding yourself back was whether you wanted to learn to do something? You didn't have to choose between doing a single gimmick or helping the town. You didn't have to ask yourself whether or not you should go afk in the woods for 20+ minutes after finishing the engine to keep meme score or if you should just die so you can actually play the game.

It's sad looking back how You are Hope is going to be the better ohol because they expand on the fun ideas of the game and Jason goes in the direction of removing the fun for some fantasy version of the game he won't actually commit to.

Eeech, I'm not so sure about bucket stacking. I think this is literally going to go the same way as way stones and their griefing went. On paper, way stones looked to be useful but very quickly became a detriment to the game due to their blocking nature. Stacking buckets is going to lead to griefers being able to snatch up ALL THE BUCKETS and they get to put them in one space instead of a bunch of different spots.

There's just not currently anything that requires stacking empty buckets up besides space reasons which isn't terrible but the bucket griefing ability outweighs that imo.

Poop bucket seems okay but we almost always have poop in the pen and that poop can now just be littered all over the ground without busting the shovel (best part of the update.)

Still not big on tool slot stuff but I guess now you know who to harass in the event you need something sawed/drilled/etc.

Apocalypse change doesn't solve the issue imo because if the issue we're having is we were only hearing zero or at most one of the two rings I don't feel a third is going to help. ALSO, it feels really weird at the moment that the perfect apocalypse tower takes 24 hours vs a bell tower taking 25. I guess it's truly easier to destroy than build.

Stopping people from going to S1 unneeded is nice, and I'm not sure about the Eve changes.

8/10 update. Good, but maybe slightly flawed.

#518 Re: Main Forum » Is living longer always better? » 2020-01-28 16:14:55

Depends on different things honestly.

Trying to avoid a lineage ban (they still exist btw.) Then you would ideally just want to die at age 28ish or 42 as an Eve.

Only care about raising kids? 40 is a good cut off for killing yourself if you solely just want to play baby sitter simulator.

And of course all the different gene score exploits have required lots and lots of different suicide times vs normally play.

So to answer your question, there are definitely times to not reach 60 as its not always rewarding to reach such an age.

Or at least the straight parts. As of currently it has to be an end piece which means rigging an infinitely moving rail cart system requires some ghetto rigging.

Also kind of need the east-west tracks to go through doors otherwise you have to leave an empty space like in the picture. Fun little project either way.

#523 Re: Main Forum » Does cursing matter? » 2020-01-24 01:35:14

Easiest way to think of how cursing works is that cursing someone is adding them to a block list for a month. They cannot be born around you (but you can be born around them) and for each person who curses (and is online) makes the block range longer.

Whenever all the players are online that cursed the guy in your situation each player has a 1k block radius around them at the old man cannot be spawned to.

The biggest issue in the system atm is because its one way you need to die before the griefer as to get any use out of it initially which at times feels silly.

#524 Re: Main Forum » *Suggestion* Cherry Trees » 2020-01-23 20:51:18

Mango trees originally took no upkeep and basically broke the game due to people like myself just mass planting them. Basically I Johnny Mangotree planted 32 my first life in Casino town (named Mango town at the time due to the trees.) and was producing a free 4608 pips at maximum output if people would pick all of them per hour.

Fruit trees either need to be balanced around having high pips and being slow to regenerate (current mangoes are super unviable due to racial restrictions plus the amount of time to tend an orchard)

Or, fruit trees should be the de facto firewood tree of choice that just happens to give some goodies along the way.

Probably does need a little adjustment considering any time an apocalypse happens/restart you're going to basically nosedive your score into the ground.

http://onehouronelife.com/fitnessServer … ail&id=436

Linking to Sigmen's score we see this massive negative occur (around the time of the server apocalypse and they drop 14+ points in a single life due to how harsh conditions can be on new players.  We're again going to have to talk this over with Jason as that's not the least bit reasonable nor was their 75 something grandchildren one daughter ended up producing.

It should never be the right choice to kill yourself to prevent loss and the game shouldn't be deterring you from playing on server restart/apocalypse.
