Fun fact - feeding toddlers mutton pie wastes less water than feeding them domestic gooseberries.

**The more you know**

Nope! just tested it.

7 berries cost 1.26 water -> 27.7 food units per 1 water

a muton pie that gives 5 pips cost 3.02 water -> 21 food per 1 water
a muton pie that gives 6 pips cost 3.02 water -> 25 food per 1 water
a muton pie that gives 7 pips cost 3.02 water -> 27 food per 1 water

You actually get 4 mutton pies, each with 4 bites. That's 16 bites for 3.02 water, isn't it?

Actually it's not very correct math. If you make 15 yum chain through life then every food gives you +7.5 pips more on average. I mean, if a berry pie was eaten at your beginning chain (let's say when you have 3 chain), would you count it like this: 48+4*3 ? It's better to count your average food gain. So correct math if you make 15 yum chain through life would be like this: 48+4*7.5. Seems like it's still worse than a mutton pie for a non yummer.

I don't like talking about yumming. Yumming is not efficient, it consumes time and focus and it doesn't save any more water comparing to eating only high efficient foods.

Kaveh wrote:

Agreed, more mutton is good, but can people please stop smacking alllll the mutton onto pie crusts

Sorry, I'm selfish non yummer and I do smack all the mutton onto pie crusts tongue
Poor yummers will have to lose even more of their focus to find yum foods /sad

Tho yumming is very nice mechanic. It would be cool if it actually mattered to yum.

Edit: Btw, non yumming is even cooler in wild. I can eat all will berries without worrying about my yum. If I eat all berries from 3 wild berry bushes that means I have 90 free food pips. I kinda wish wild berries were limited, they are too op.

Yes, but only because people tend to shear all sheep. There would be no need to keep a domestic mouflon if people always were leaving at least one unshorn sheep.

How about making nameless eves unable to give birth? It would give them some time to find a good spot for a town before breeding. I think current birth distribution system will make that all babies will spawn to new Eve until she has enough kids, that may make things complicated if an Eve hasn't even found a good spot to live yet.

Idk, this curve feels weird and unintuitive. Further more vanilla users don't even know their age.

#583 Re: Main Forum » Building stuff is looking good but... » 2019-11-07 10:09:24

Buildings are for esthetic purposes and it's very important to make them. I experienced many times how lazy and useless people were in messy and ugly towns. Little cleaning and everyone saw a sense to work again, a town starts working again.
Towns wouldn't survive without floors and buildings just because of psychology reasons. People will be less likely to care about a messy, ugly town.

Making a cute town where everyone feels comfortable is the best way to make your family thrive for a very long time.

I wonder if there are limitations in size that will be considered indoor. Can we make whole berry farm indoor? Or whole town?

Since people often are being useless next to a fire, it will be probably worth making a building for that.

To me it's all fine to act as a bad character, little roleplay, it shouldn't hurt anyone.
Is killing and stealing in games like gta any better?

To me swastika means nothing, I'm over it.

Damn, we could even learn some real history thanks to that big_smile

It's not really needed to point out such things. Why do you care? At least people are more willingly to give their opinions. Maybe it's useless for Jason but for community it can matter a little. And opinions can sometimes be valuable too.
You should be happy that Jason actually tells us about things.

Wow, that's huge big_smile
I'm just little sad that we will have only one well limit. It was very fun activity to bring water from wells, without super hurry need to advance to highest tech as fast as possible.
I would like it to be limited to 2 or max 3 wells, but one well is kinda sad to me.

#589 Re: Main Forum » Idea to reduce food waste and make "big foods" more beneficial » 2019-11-06 22:00:29

I'm against doubling stomach size, unreasonable thing to do. It could give more freedom when to eat a big food but it would make things too easy.

To me the best way would look like this: reduce stomach size to 15 pips, 2x limit for +pips for current stomach size (that would be 15 pips + 15 pips for an adult), you can possibly lower a little bit stomach size for kids and elders. +pips unavailable for kids younger than 3y (makes sense since they have undeveloped stomach at that age)

Surely this update would make living easier, In most cases I'm against making things easier, so I don't really care if this update will happen or not. It's not something that is really needed.

Food still could be wasted a little when eating very big things being almost full but it would give a little bit more freedom on to when eat a big food. In current state it's a little bit annoying to wait until starving before eating a very big food.

I mean you are right that it's not worth making booties since rabbit shoes are cheaper and give better insulation.
But you are wrong saying that it's better to wear wooden shoes instead of booties only because they are cheaper to produce. Wooden shoes give less insulation. The less insulation you have the more food pips you drain. If 2% insulation is actually enough to increase pip drain by one second (that would mean you lose a pip every let's say 15 seconds instead of 14, depends on your overall insulation), that means you will eat less food and that means you will consume less water, actually much less water.

Good insulation is underrated. People don't even talk about it.

It is definitely not worth making booties ever.

Are you saying saving 900 pips isn't worth it? That's lots of water. Yeah, there is tons of logs but they don't produce water.

I may actually do more tests on local server to see how much insulation is needed to reduce pip drain by one second, and to see if it's linear. I'll do it tomorrow.

DestinyCall wrote:

No, wool booties are a waste of thread.   Wood clogs last forever.

Wool booties have better insulation. During these 5 hours they can save some water tongue If the difference was one pip saved per about 20 seconds that would be 900 pips of food saved.
I'm not sure actually if 2% insulation difference (2 booties) can decrease pip drain by one second, would have to test it out with a timer. I may do it tomorrow to satisfy my curiosity.

Yeah, I'm one of them. Unless mono diet becomes actually something that should be avoided I'm against adding new foods.
You will just make another yum food that will be eaten by non yummers. You will only waste time for making it. There are other yum foods that are rarery made, like pork tacos, bean tacos, bean burritos, french fries with ketchup, chips with salsa. You could possibly just add another to this list. It probably would be fun to make them only at begin, since it would be something new.

I'm glad you asked, we need more people like you. I'm sad that the game has very bad tutorial that doesn't teach the game at all. So many new players quit after first games because they are too overhelmed.

#595 Re: Main Forum » Is there any guide for water and well systems? » 2019-11-06 11:39:15

Diesel water pump never gets exhausted, but it requires kerosene to work. You can turn oil into kerosene. You get oil from oil rigs that can be built on tarry spots, but oil rigs will exhaust sooner or later (about 11 uses per oil rig, depends on luck, max 5 oil rigs on map) - oil is limited. In the end water is limited and apocalypse is unavoidable.

#596 Re: Main Forum » Is there any guide for water and well systems? » 2019-11-06 11:30:07

Once first level well (shallow well) gets out of water it becomes dry well. Once second level well (deep well) is out of water it becomes dry deep well. Once newcomen pump is out of water you can dissamble its parts and exhausted well is what is left and then only thing you can do with it is to install diesel engine to it (to exhausted well).
There is no way to avoid exhausting newcomen pump, unless nobody gets water from it tongue

#597 Re: Main Forum » Is there any guide for water and well systems? » 2019-11-06 08:57:59

Water is the most important thing and yet there is no single word about it in tutorial... damn tongue
Curent well system works like this: You can only build a shallow well on a natural spring, but once 6 wells are built, all natural springs get dry - that means only 6 wells can be built on map.
When shallow well has no more water it can be upgraded to deep well. When deep well has no more water it can be upgraded to newcomen pump. When newcomen pump has no more water it can be upgraded to diesel water pump which is last possible tech. https://onetech.info is official site with all recipies, so you can trust it always. You can check how to build each well and everything else.

If you want to practice you can make your own server - it's very simple to make a local server.
Diesel engine is a very complicated thing to do, so even using https://onetech.info it may be overhelming. Try watching a tutorial on youtube how to make diesel engine before trying to make one on your own.

Yeah, the 2x limit is an interesting idea.

But it still wouldn't help me make "feast" foods that are over 20 pips.  I mean, I guess the 40-pip food could be saved until famished and push an adult up to 40 pips total.  But might as well eat a 20-pip food when full, right?

If you reduced stomach size to 15 pips, max an adult could do would be 30 pips. It's not that crazy amount.

#600 Re: Main Forum » Another wacky food idea » 2019-11-06 04:41:33

Cooking low pip foods like bread would be useless. Nobody would want to eat bread.
Eating every couple secs would be annoying.
This change would make it very hard to get iron in very beginning towns where nobody has a backpack.
Vanilla users would die every while without zoom mod to see where is a food.
