Cons:
Jason has to get out of bed and write some code.
Lmao
Access multiverse through tables. lmao
and make your max food bonus 3x your stomach? so a baby with 3 pips max bonus could be 9 pips.
2x would be enough. This is actually not bad idea. Thanks to that elders and kids still would be weak as they supposed to be.
I didn't think about it before, but if time was the only factor then it would benefit low populated families. Less people means less water consumed, right? And that would give free time and less effort to survive. That's not good.
Unless the time was counted differently depending how many people are playing. If there was one player, time to recharge would decrease by 1 every second, if there were 40 players time to recharge would decrease by 40 every second. I don't know... ![]()
So, if u get a bb in the middle of nowhere you just shove a burrito or pie into its mouth, wish it good luck and you go your way?
It wouldn't be an issue if +pips were unavailable for kids.
Anyway, it sounds like this is too risky of a change to make....
Damn... ![]()
Even tho I'm not a yummer I would want to make mono diet less attractive somehow, especially if this update will happen. Idk, maybe having less than 5 yum chain could make you sick after eating non yum food (something simillar to yellow fever). Yumming is not really that beneficial in current state, genetic fitness system makes it even less attractive for girls.
I like it.
Maybe 20 pips stomach size will be too big then? Maybe it should be only 10 after this change?
I mean once we reach oil and engine pump stagnation starts. Why would we save water if it gonna end soon anyways, why doing anything. What if saving water could actually prolong our life "survive long enough and you will be able to get another tank of kerosine"? I mean it's just a small change but could be fun.
I'm more curious about your thoughts about infinite world with limited resources. Only 3 wells and only one oil rig per family.
I didn't read whole post but I like this idea more than current tool system that is very bad.
you can claim a profession using a text command ... for example, "I am a baker."
This is not should it work, it's not a text game. I know it's much easier to programm it like this but that doesn't mean it should be done like this only because it's easier to programm it. A visual interface should be done here. A "profession" icon should appear once you are 16yo (or whatever age) and after clicking it, all proffesions with icons should appear - ideally explaining given profession when hovering cursor over it.
Any thoughts, anyone? ![]()
JackThreehorn, OP asked for something else. He wants the game in state like it was when it was released on steam. Without all tool shit things and other bad stuff that were implemented to current day.
It won't happen tho. Making another server with different game version would split players, we don't have big playerbase to do this.
Family matters overall but individuals don't matter and this is not an issue to me. Genetic fitness exists to prevent some situations like abandoning kids without a reason, and also it tries to connect people which I don't really see a need for doing it. The goal is to keep your family thrive, I want to put effort to make it happen but I don't want to care if my sis dies - I don't care about it as long as family can thrive. I didn't buy the game to care for individuals. To me everyone with the same family name is equal.
What family?
The baby you say goodbye to at age 4?
Or the brother you will never talk to ever in your 60 minute life?
Do you see the issue now?
What issue? I don't see any issue here. Is your baby any better than anyone else with the same family name? If yes that would be an issue to me.
When I want to use a chisel for example, there is no way I would walk around the town and ask someone to use it for me. This is definitely a bad update since it had to encourage people to communicate and work together and it doesn't do this. It's opposite, people instead of working together work even less. Jason would probably like it that people work less, but it has negative psychological input for people that want to play the game properly and see people aren't working at all. Game becomes much less attractive mostly for new people.
It's worth getting rid of skill slots when playing single. Try increasing numbers in baseToolSlotsPerPlayer.ini and maxToolSlotsPerPlayer.ini.
If it gets to that point that means everything is correct and the server is running. You can connect to localhost now.
Yet it's a tool in the game. Same as adobe. I only explained why it costs a skill slot. Idc how it's called.
Call it whatever you like.
Your idea of improving communication is "add more spoken letters pls" or "add a general chat like other MMO games"
It still doesn't take care of the root problem:
Communication is not needed.
Communication is not needed in most games, yet it's the best part of MMO games to be able to communicate. MMO games don't get big without proper communication system.
It would work great in OHOL as well, I could bet $10000 for that. Easy money.
Hot coals is a tool beacause you can cook and do things on it, idk why people are surprised it's a tool. Only putting kindling to hot coals shouldn't be considered as a tool, but it is for some reason.
Making own server is very simple thanks to Awbz. Just download full windows latest release, open server folder and for the first time opening use runServer.bat as administrator (it will create softlinks. Probably there would be need to make softlinks on your own in older windows versions) and tada, you can connect to localhost. To remove hunger just increase numbers in settings (minFoodDecrementSeconds and maxFoodDecrementSeconds) and to remove aging increase number in secondsPerYear setting. You can also forceEveLocation so you spawn in your town everytime. And don't forget to gently close the server with ctrl+c so it won't crash next time you open it.
It's worth getting rid of skill slots when playing single. Try increasing numbers in baseToolSlotsPerPlayer.ini and maxToolSlotsPerPlayer.ini.
Cooperation on small things like bakings pies works fine since it's very simple and doesn't require communication. It fails on other things.
I'm saying that cooperation is fun and it's definately not a "mini game/roleplay" activity.
I bet some beople don't even fill up their all skill slots and then die of old age without filling all just because they feel like they may need a skill slot later on. "Should I do this? Better not waste my skill slot for this, maybe that? nah, let's not waste my skill for that either xD"
I wonder if I am the only one who has much less willing to teach new players after this update. I know I wouldn't need to learn any new tools in that process but this update makes some psychological feeling of being limited to do things.
Someone starts the fire in the oven and people come together to bake pie, or someone starts fire in the forge and people try to work together to make the most out of the coals.
But now you might not want to waste your tool slots, only need 1 smith, only need 1 baker.
So true. It shows that working together on the same task is very enjoyable thing to do. Even now some people are willing to waste their skill slots just to enjoy cooperating with others on the same task even tho this update is trying to take us this away. And it succeeds in many cases too - many people won't want to waste their skill slots even tho they would want to have the fun.
The update supposed to connect us but it does the opposite ![]()
It would be better if we had a purpose to prolong arcs, once we get everything there is no real purpose to live.
I was thinking maybe instead of limiting number of uses for oil rigs it could be fun if oil rigs were blocking themselves after every use for some period of time, and the block time would increase after every next use. Eventually block time would be so big that we wouldn't be able to survive long enough to get to the next kerosene.
Also I think if a family can't do it - it should die out. This is another bad thing in rift. If a family is to weak it just moves to another family and lives there together with the another family.
Also without rift this could be a good mechanic too to limit resources without limiting map size. One family could build only 2 or 3 wells and only one oil rig. Oil rig would block itself after every use for some period of time, and the block time would increase after every next use. It could be fun to see how long families would survive and how they would behave to live as long as possible.
It also could be cool if newcomen stuff were unlocked for a family after let's say 10 hours of family's age - to that time we would have to live from those 2 or 3 wells.
6 families limit would work great in infinite world too - eve window would open every time a family dies out - so there always would be 6 families - it would prevent from dying families because of lack of players. It could be more once we get more active players.
Gotta note that a family couldn't use another's family oil rig or well - it would open a purpose to actually make wars which could be fun too. Or even trades if iron was limited by the same way.
