a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building

I don't like it too. I didn't want to comment at begin because I wanted to give it a try. But I really liked it better without this tools update. Once something is implemented it won't get removed so we have to deal with it.
Ye, we should be able to craft condoms.
Or just remove infinite foods so everyone will die and apocalypse will happen faster.
Wild berries are too op anyway.
Instead of tapout radius it could be better if one family could build only one well. Anyway only 6 families spawn after apocalypse.
There would be no more well grieffing at the arc beginnings.
I agree, the rift is too big.
We have absolutely no control over other people lives. So it doesn't matter whos life counts towards our score - if we are unlucky then that person will die fast decreasing our score, if we are lucky then that person will die at old age increasing our score.
Well, maybe it does matter a little, because more people die being young than at old age - so the more people count towards our score the more chance our score will decrease.
It also depends at what stage the town we live in is. Our skill doesn't really matter except that our age counts towards score too.
So the best tactic is living always to 60 and not letting your kids die before they reach age of 3, can't do more.
6 wells limit make it that families live together, which itself makes going through tech tree much faster since more people play in towns.
Only 6 families live after apocalypse - each of them finds it's own place with natural spring, they making a town, but the family who reaches shovel first griefs other wells and about 3 families must move to other families with a well because they can't build a well anymore.
Solution to this could be very simple - once a family makes a well it should get blocked to make another well - at least for one hour.

This game is going in bad direction... Do whatever you want, I don't care anymore.
65 hours not long in my opinion should go on for longer.
And what you do in towns full of everything?
Could we have much smaller rift for one arc, pls? Like half the size or even less. There are only 6 wells anyways.
We also have too much iron since there are only a few towns due to limited wells.
So I'm currently pretty unsatisfied by "GL BYE" at age 3.
I for the other hand am totally fine with this. To me it's just a game, I don't need any realistic themes, I just want a good game. I know I'm probably in the minority in this case, so not gonna argue.
There would be "gl" without "bye" if we could communicate through whole life, even without being next to each other. To me it would be much better if we had "unralistic" communication system, but sadly I'm probably in the minority in this case too.
We could make some signs... "Ghost town", "Necropolis", "Trick or treat"... ![]()
Playing is not efficient since it only consumes water.
To me it's actually annoying thing to care/look for anyone personally. I want to care for the town I live in, that means for everyone living there, by doing right things. I don't want to feel like I'm involved in anyone's death, even tho I do my best to keep the town in great state. That's annoying.
Why you want to push people to do better scores than 40 by rewarding them even more? Why genetics were implemented in the first place? To not leave your babies with no reason? If yes, then anyone with genetics higher than 40 should be considered as success, they don't leave their kids. Pushing it further is only annoying.
The kill your mother thing is a problem... hmm...
Not rly, it's not easy to do this without being cursed and also killed. Also the 6 seconds timer to inflict a wound makes it even harder.
As for genetic fitness I would suggest doing these things:
- Leave it like it is, but make that we get maximum number of additional slots when our genes are above 40.0
- lower the amount of additional skill slots that we can get from genetics to max 2
- add another stat: your average life span past 10 lives
- make it that we get additional skill slot for living 50+ years on average or 2 slots for living 55+ years on average.
This would give us max 4 additional skill slots.
There could be also 5th additional skill slot for actually working in a town, maybe every use of our learned tools would have some value... I don't know, this would be harder to implement and it's not super necessary, but it would be cool.
We have only 6 wells and 5 tarry spots. Do we really need so big rift? Searching for those is at least annoying on so big rift.
Is life limit still necessary? Don't remove it yet, you just released tool system, give it some time.
Not everyone cares yet.
Another, probably rare case would be that someone could make a simple bot that would keep /dying, just to make lots of trash (baby bones). Probably it would be cursed out eventually, but not necessarily.
You probably don't want people run out of lives when next baby apocalypse happens, maybe it would be the best to somehow automatically detect such thing and then when it happens temporarily disabling life limit.
So, we know that about 1000 people buy this game every month. I'm not really sure why Jason isn't trying to make them keep playing for more than one game, but definitely this game could be played by that many people at the same time.
How do you imagine this game would look like with so many people?
I think if we had so many people, we could make different servers with different gameplay variations.
One server with a rift, another with an infinite map, another with more hardcore pvp - always in war with other families and with no way to being born to another family before your dies out. Another with more hardcore survival - a family living in very small rift with very limited resources. Another with some kind of multi-rift - many rifts on an infinite map that would partially overlap with themselves - a family couldn't go any further than borders of their rift, but would meet other families who share some part of the territory.
What ideas do you have?
And what is your opinion on why new people stop playing so quickly? Jason says this game isn't for everyone, but I think it's for everyone who bought it - they clearly liked the gameplay if they bought it, right?
One kerosene actually gives 6 iron which equals 12 tools. That's not even 6 bowls of water for one steel tool. People should never craft hatchets or even worse stone hoes (except that one hatchet that is needed to start a town).
It's not only a big waste of water to make these two stone tools but also it is very time consuming to make them, not to mention that planting milkweed also breaks tools.
Edit: mb, one kerosene gives 5 iron since diesel mine requres a chisel. Still steel tools are more efficient.
Axe for kindling is also 10 times worse than a hatchet.
0.3 water means 0.3 bowls of water? How are you counting it? Making a rope costs 4 bowls of water (+ water that you spend for soil)
An axe has about 100 uses. 2 broken steel tools = one free steel ingot. There is also tons of free iron before diesel mine.
Compared to hatchet that has about 40 uses...
This must be some kind of troll topic ![]()
Should we share tarry spots coordinates?
x 0, y 0 = top left corner of the map
x 592 y -82 (oil rig)
x 67 y -51 (tarry spot)
x 563 y -60 (tarry spot)
x 372 y -703 (exhausted oil well)Anyone knows where is 5th one?
Btw, I saw 3 wells in first level stage, didn't save their coords tho.
I don't consider baby runners as an issue, just curse them whenever they do it.
/die thing is an issue, but I think the issue is that people don't care to /die, they have little to lose when they do that. There should be something more than only genetic fitness to encourage people surviving to old age. To make them feel that it's not worth dying at young age.
Idk, maybe another stat that would count only your lives, your average age past 10 lives, maybe additional skill slots for people who live long on average?.
Or maybe dying young would give some penalty, decreasing skill slots?
Also I think people shouldn't lose their genetic score if their mum decides to not keep them and stops feeding them. This may be often scenario in ending arcs where there is very little food and water. Baby spam will happen and everyone playing will lose their genetics drastically, just like it happened last time.
Yeah, in current arc when it was at about 200 minutes age, I made a newcomen tower and smithed about 20 iron to steel to encourage people to make next engine steeps. I came back after 2 hours break and it was so disappointing to see that nobody has made even one step further in engine making. So I made all newcomen tools + timming pulley for engine, 10 piston blanks, about 8 rods and that's where my skill slots ended. Engine with oil could be finished really quickly even with tool limit, only if there were two more people willingly to finish it. Idk what happened later, haven't played it since then.
I mean the issue are not tools nor well limit, but lack of skill that majority has.
Communication system is also broken. With better communication we could ask even newbies for help in making more advanced stuff.
