All that does is encourage people to grief and make it an annoying job to go around and start whacking people with the special snowflake cosmetic for being an asshat. I'd rather it just be a block and done regardless if it can hurt you or not. Protip: Don't use the curse you shorthand atm because apparently new people assume that they're specifically being cursed and get upset spaghet.

Right now is just bad because with so many new players they don't comprehend things like having to murder someone to get them to stop griefing or that not all killing = bad. It'll get better with time but the curse system is best when stronger rather than weaker.

Made another snow village if you're in the ginger lineage village go something like 180 east and like 250 north and you'll find the old Dobbie village which connects by road to the new arctic village.

It's honestly a shame these aren't viable for early game as they're a lot of fun to make + they look nice in general.

Sadly towns probs gonna die, as there's no way to keep a sufficient amount of water flow coming in, Only like a certain developer could add the ability to get fresh water from the ice cracks

All towns die if they don't get passed the newcomen tech due to lack of water. Even if both towns die and are lost its about having fun building and sharing something special with the people who get born there. Fun > Max efficiency.

And of course thanks to anyone who stopped by and gave a helping hand.

Yeah it's probably best to have the default stake hit after floor be auto-orienting and extra hits be specific style.

With the example of the snow village you have walls connecting at points where corner pieces would be bad (for example the bottom side of the bakery was attached to the fishing area) which would block view of floor tiles. Like I don't have a problem if its not an option but having the choice makes it so you can make sure weird issues like view blocking walls aren't popping up.

Spent about five or six hours on this project with help from others such as Tipy. I'd like to thank Jason for the snow walls/buildings as honestly its been a blast putting together this little town.

HkzqaSb.jpg

The whole family ended up moving from the much bigger town over into Snowdin and its been great.

You have things such as:

A feeling of family: Since the buildings are where people concentrate you can basically see everyone and you're almost always within arms reach of another member of the small family we had living together. We have plenty of activities with rooms that each cater to something such as fishing, baking, shepherding, forging, and even a little family room.

Cozy aesthetic: Not going to lie, living in a little snow area with a warm fire and your family around feels good. You have chill activities like fishing to talk over and as long as the population doesn't boom into something fierce it just feels right. I know there's always been the problem of not having true family but this hit the nail on the head.

The only real cons is this takes some real time to set up plus mid game tools so unless you plan ahead or break away from another town its not really viable to set something like this up again in the future. We had to live off pond water + the (old) main towns water supply until everyone moved over into our much cozier town.

It's kind of funny how wrong you can be about some things. Igloos on paper looked to be silly and useless but when in action they're a fun addition to the game which breaks up the monotony of all the cities looking the same.

My purposes aren't the same from post to post.  Sometimes I mean mostly to raise questions.  Sometimes I mean to complain about something thinking the game could be better in that respect, either because of my taste, what I've read on discord by others, or for other reason such as the tool skill system only having negative effects in an Eve-chaining context where no one else shows up apparently.  Sometimes I've been unhappy with how community members have gotten treated and have wanted to express that.  If you check my reddit posts above there's a tutorial for smithing, and a reflection on Eve runs which are rather different purposes.

In my own defense with respect to fug's comment, I've even gone to lengths to think about how the tool skill system has consequences for new players which not having such didn't (that mostly seems positive... newbs I think tend to almost always fall into needing/wanting direction in game... like the person who says 'job?' when she turns 3).  I have built a number of roads.  Mostly on the old server12 before it got wiped or lost because people didn't keep going back to the area.

Jason sees things on a different level just like I can't see things on a new players level. Instead of being rude dudes we need to try to work together to make the game better for everyone.

Obvious we've talked before how food needs rebalancing atm (omelet is the same value as a three combo pie) but the slider gives you the chance to balance it all at once.

We have faith you'll get this right and you'll tighten or loose the food values as needed since a rework is a bigger project for down the line.

Spoon is a salty boi. He has a vision of the game like all of us but instead of being reasonable he takes a crazy version of the game and stretches it. He's known for being one of the server 12 players and overall he isn't a bad dude just misguided. Spoon is like a veteran player who can't see the game from a new player view or Jason view.

Better to have a scaling system that you can change on the fly rather than trying to rebalance each and every food.

jasonrohrer wrote:

Fug, are you aware of the indoor bonus that was added a few weeks ago?

As long as you are indoors, you get +20 seconds per food bar.

Now you get +X seconds per food bar, where X is determined by the average insulating value of the room that you are in.

Using the Pine room as an example, adding a bear rug to a wood floor adds about 2.5 seconds per food bar, or 50 seconds between feedings as an adult.

Of course, that's in a small room with only one floor.  The bigger the room, the more the other non-rug floors will "wash out" the average.

Yeah I knew you had changed the inside mechanic not too long ago which is why I brought up that since the last time I tested anything related to buildings for any change what so ever inside you needed either 100% floors rugged or it was treated as 0 rugs being floored.

You suffered the same fate if you had a lower tier floor inside as well which meant if you had all wood and one pine floor then the whole room was treated as being pine instead of mostly wood. I'll take a double check on it when the change goes live to make sure it's not the case still.

Is someone legit nearly 100 meme score by playing fair and square? I've already leaked the method on how to farm gene score in the discord for anyone wondering but I'm pretty sure both me and first place (I'm third currently) are cheating the system to easily collect up our score without playing right at all.

If you didn't know in the current game you get score for your mother, grandmother, and potentially great grandmother if she's still kicking when you're born in game. These free points are the absolute easiest way to farm score because as a baby you can cut out any younger siblings, sisters, or potential children by hitting /die. By using the /die command you can lose anywhere between 0 points to 0.5 and your mother + her mother/gma can give you much more than the highest possible negative.

What this means is if you burn all your life tokens by spamming SIDS deaths you can farm out the points of all your potential mothers, their mothers, and moms mom too while not risking any griefer children, new players dying young, or pesky sisters/brothers who can't raise their own children. Basically the only downside to farming score in this way is sometimes your mom will lower your score (very unlikely), and that you run yourself out of lives so you can't play. However, if you are going to bed or work you can just suicide 24 times and rake in all those meme score points.

Basically found this loop hole before the last gene score change but it wasn't useful until now.

Spawn in as baby
Die
????
Profit!

You'll need a bear rug on every single floor tile for that bear rug to do anything from last time I ever did building testing and that's not to mention the eyesore that is a full room filled with bear rugs.  To have a true idea of pip drain rate you would want Wall type, Wood floor/Pine floor, then Pine/Wood door test as bear rug floors aren't really viable when you need 30 or so to fill a room.

Thank you for making pine buildings actually viable as its been much too long that pine has basically been unrealistic to build with in game.

https://edge.onetech.info/3271-Snow-Rub … ngryWork10

Igloos aren't really usable but add in the fact that any time a tile is destroyed it turns to rubble which in turn turns into a pillar 30 seconds later you can't even remotely build in the snow with these. I'm sure people can see why having these rubble piles self regenerate is a problem and if not let me explain further.

Put a wall in the wrong spot? Well now it's a corner wall instead. Accidentally click a floor tile with an adze trying to set it down? Now the floor is a hell spire. Bad boi griefer click all your floors? Room becometh hell spires.

It's a cute concept to have an area of the map where its free to build but without doing weird structures you cannot even use the buildings to harvest the resources in the area as you'll have leaks (plus doors don't shut so you need to import real doors.) I'm not real sure what the purpose of these are besides fluff since you cannot live in the arctic.

Quick edit: I don't dislike the idea of igloos but clearly there's a major flaw here + due to room mechanics the whole reason you'd build rooms in the arctic is sort of defeated.

Unfortunately in a world where you're stuck in mid game, have no idea where the two white families are, and only have a few gingers around you do what you need. Obviously, you don't want to kill gingers but they're just as useless up until oil tech which still requires you to get blacks/browns in the first place.

The game really needs minimum numbers for each race just like you don't start having boys until you have x females. No whites until each lineage has X amount (preferably something like 8-10) as whites are basically males but even more useless.

Is there some kind of a mechanism in place to ensure that all the needed skin types actually appear on the map?  Like, maybe one that forces an Eve of a particular family type if there isn't one in existence?  Because I just spent a very frustrating life scouring the countryside looking for someone who could get us some damn sulfur, or an abandoned town with sulfur in it, or any such thing, and never found any.  Just brown people and gingers.  (Admittedly, this was probably not the best task for someone playing without the zoom mod.  It annoys me to admit it, but I think I'm gonna have to break down and install the thing after all.)

I don't necessarily mind the challenge of realizing that, crap, we need to go out into the world and find some way to make rubber before all our crops die of thirst, as long as there's some way to realistically do that.  Did I get unlucky and look in the wrong places, or was there honestly no way to succeed at this particular quest?  Because I can make my peace with the former, but the latter... does not make for good game play.  And I suspect it's the case, because I'm not seeing any black folks showing up on the family tree page right now.

It feels very much like last night when there weren't any animals to be found, all over again.

There's no mechanic to balance races in the game. We had to kill off a ginger family in hopes of a black Eve spawning so the game could get passed deep well tech. Having 2+ white families while now missing black + ginger is pretty insulting tbh as they're useless AND were taking up lineage slots that were needed to actually do something other than sit around family. Not only is it frustrating to watch as white Eves spawn but then watching as the type of Eve needed fails to thrive just puts salt on the wound.

This update makes me question why he didn't try this when we were in the Hell Cell instead of all those weeks of "testing" oil and depletion. I'm praying tomorrow all the steam players fix these issues but we'll still likely suffer from some problems due to all the new players.
