this can be used for stopping carts at locations, you can even skip the double down and just go one tile below
bit expensive with a spring on a static cart. but it can store something and even go point a to b, has to be in the gap when the other cart or carts have to be moved.

the problem is that is griefeable when is close to town and people don't know how it works. obviously you need more of this stop gaps to make it worth. like 1 to start of, 1 to stop near a mine, etc.
you can use it to get firewood from further and further. can be open ended, which is good cause all this took me a whole life to make it from scratch, so spending 2-3 hours for 3-4 stations is necessary, but rails need to be complete to function, so there is a tradeoff.

you can go back and forth so it stays in 3 wide area

               \=/

I saw the pawer in action in a videeo, not exactly sure how farming works
a straight line gonna be always an issue, you need to limit how much you walk from each spot and how much you can store.
that beeing said, a minecart can store 8x3 so for corn would be 4 per tile, each 6 tiles needs a cart on middle. for wheat would be 8 tiles. but of course you can use 2 carts per station or multiple runs for the carts to transport. but the harvesting is point a1 to b, a2 to b, a3 to b so more storage would save time on that.

basically you need a cart for each railroad and the rest can go on all of them, so 1 will need to be unloaded and reloaded for longer transport.
it would be possible to loop it back to itself, but that also requires one cart.
there are only 3 types of rails: end rails, middle rails, joints. only 2 lines can join at a point and requires 2 open ends so 2 slots for carts. as you see above, you can use one for one direction, if you would want to use one for the other direction, you would need a cart for that as well.
you can't join 3 lines into one at once, so you join 2 of them at a time, so stopping and redirecting will be necessary.

otherwise you got to go with each line from start to finish and load one into another.
jason could add stops, basically on of switch breaks to allow stopping carts on certain positions. also T junctions or T switches where cartts either stop or swittch from an | to \ or / directions.

the other rail upgrade would be automattic loading and unloading.

as for farming:
you would certainly be better off to run plows back and forth
if yo ugot to use at least 10 or 16 I would still go for double so uses half of the water, that's a nice number. but 60 minutes or rather 50-52 are too shor to do mass projects, even a 20x20 takes ages.

Sprinklrs and farms are okay but it takes a lot of time tto set it up then you got the problem on how to even use itt, you don't have more population tto feed, it does not depend on it, you don't have a major need for excess, no way to sell it or exchange itt for other suff so it's kinda just for fun.

i guess if Jason makes all the music by himself, he then needs to play flute or xlophone.... maybe he can play them already?

Can the sound effects be jason noises? I would love playing a jason flute.

place your mouth on jasons output and pump in some fresh air

#103 Re: Main Forum » Who built the longest railroad in OHOL? » 2020-07-17 22:23:58

cantt open the links

there was a long one in one of the cities i revisited a few times
made a nice rubber farm for them and a fenced pen with a small farm

the rails extended quie long 2 part near the town to the irons, wasnt the most useful

EsnZbWf.png
made this the last time I played
looked easier on a blueprint, kinda useful but still nto worth it.

using a sttatic cart you can block the other, making some stops for it. also can be open need if people dont fuck it up
so it might work with some iron mines and sttuff, butt we still don't have enough reasons to do static stops or cheap way to do them.

asked jason to increase the carts input, since it's a mining cart, makes sense, I saw people using itt for storage, which is cool att least.

an on/off swithc to stop them anywhere would be nice, and simple

the next step would be automatic load/unload and it would be awesome.

#104 Re: Main Forum » Creating glass is extremely expensive » 2020-07-17 22:14:28

sealed bottle can go on horse carts, thatt is generally useful when moving resources. just the bottle is good for milk for the first one is actually very valuable. then yo ucan save a bit of space for palm oil or sulfplhur but palm buckets are kinda better.

made like 2 times more glasses, with glassworth farm to make more. needs like 2 lives or 2-3 people to help. i was able to make 6 glasses 2 cups 2 funnels and with more blowpipes could of made more.

it will be taken by other fams so its not the worst

#105 Re: Main Forum » Fires should give less warmth. » 2020-07-12 03:16:23

a simple fix would be that fires block movement, but easily abusable with kindling
the alternative would be  that fires slowly push you out, if there is no hot spot then bonuses worth it better, kinda weird you are sitting on the op of the fire

#106 Re: Main Forum » On the note of scrapping engines... » 2020-07-10 03:17:56

ghost towns with 200 boards and animals but not a single iron cause no water cause 5 minutes you don't look at it, someone runs in a horse and steals it for the lullz

but you could always lock yourself up and sit and watch for 60 minutes that no one cares
kind of the same when Eves try to build a fence.  No time for tools and you starve inside trying to go out. We still don't have any static activities that take time and give decent reward for it.

#107 Re: Main Forum » Real Talk About Gene Score » 2020-07-10 03:14:03

I liked running away and made sense too

some lives you focus on tech and building up the score is way harder than sitting afk

more forcing to the boring parenting is bad. lot of people don't even use slots so they don't complain. it was a hard hit for everyone who enjoyed tech and working and organizing.

#108 Re: Main Forum » Another little preview » 2020-07-10 03:10:16

love it, I was kinda the first to ask for it, since my modified sprites looked weird as fuck
I painted middle lines on the road just to realize that either works horizontally or vertically not both

some gameplay modifications would  be nice, road building is taking a lot of time and isn't used as much

#109 Re: Main Forum » Zig zag preview » 2020-07-08 21:25:33

animal activists want to know your location

using saw to behead a goose big_smile trust me, it would take way more time, you remind me of Hannibal Lecter and his new friend who played violin on someone's neck

butchers use circular saws on frozen meat but kinda funny how you want using a saw on goose instead of speeding up it's animation

#110 Re: Main Forum » Worse than berrymunchers: Engine enthusiasts » 2020-07-06 00:28:49

the water for the engine doesn't make sense since it was made in a time when water was abundant. just to put into perspective, digging up berry bushes also costing water made it way worse to remove than to keep but you had to do it anyway, just to make things cleaner and effective in the long run. the countless water nerfs made a lot of things useless indirectly.

also, bad having the end game resource and the early game resource is the same thing

engines supposed to be useful and advancing in tech supposed to be useful, lots of things are backwards in this game.

#112 Re: Main Forum » How to improve early baby interactions » 2020-06-30 00:02:43

I member I had a workmate who asked if children "toys" are legal because he only heard that word related to sex toys xD

not really a fan of anything that pre-determinates how you will play that life or anything that is a must-have buff but due to negligence you can't get it. that would just make you quit that life.

one interesting aspect of a game called "virtual villagers" was that kids could collect stuff others can't. it's a simulator where some people are on an island and have to survive. it's single-player and real-time so you can leave it on while sleeping and simulates the outcomes.
anyway, the kids can collect mushrooms to help with food. the second title features collectables. collecting shells, bugs, butterflies and pebbles. but this is more of an exploration thing so maybe it should be age 3-10.

as for games, I could imagine a ball that can be kicked semi-randomly and rebounds from the wall. we could make arenas for games.

I find the game play challenging, but as far as the graphics goes, I can see the pixels. Lag is a bitch.

once I had like 666 fps, trust me, isn't that good either, gets old real quick

not playing the game uses less water

#116 Re: Main Forum » Question about biome placement » 2020-06-22 21:37:05

the last edit was in rift, and some tweaks after it

he original reason was that we barely had around 4-6 viable spots inside 720x720 since you required a combination of a big green and a decent size swamp

I think the first well nerfs came after this

first, we had the biomes rearranged so swamps are closer to green and had a bigger minimum size
then we had issues with the lack of iron
then it was the lack of rabbits, so that's how we got the rings around the main biomes, almost any green can be built into a city, if it has a well, maybe you need to plant trees but most of them are useable

the map changes were quite good but they were optimized for the rift, so it's a bit weird sometimes now

#117 Re: Main Forum » Is there any good way to see if you are in doors or out? » 2020-06-20 18:47:53

once you check you know

and yeah the bonuses are quite crap, I would rather have storage and easy access, we still don't have any good static jobs to use fixed spots
anything below perfect temp just doesn't worth it, the bonus just puts the bad spots over tolerable and pushes fire effect out a bit, but it won't be any better than before, still requires the knowledge to check where you are standing

#118 Re: Main Forum » Is there any good way to see if you are in doors or out? » 2020-06-20 17:33:37

open your eyes in the top of your forehead

if you got walls and doors around you, you are indoors

#121 Re: Main Forum » The Mother-Child Relationship Etiquette » 2020-06-12 20:10:12

it's so sad that you are flexing and die like a dumbfuck when you could wear proper clothing and waste less of others time and resources

#122 Re: Main Forum » Could war ever be enjoyable gameplay » 2020-06-12 06:43:25

my idea was to separate people weekly basis, you wouldn't be tied to one family but one side with more families

this would give more variety and more loyalty, if you hurt others it won't affect you if you help your team it helps you

we don't have enough players to make too many, would work best with like 4 teams of 4 fams, but we should be happy with 2 teams of 3 fams, that's already like 8x6 and new eves would be a problem
with the whites being useless they could be the least favoured, only active when others go well and the server pop is higher than 50
or drop races

the other problem I see is distance and organization
its not a war when you just ambush others, in the rift we had towns, they didn't let me in my own city
then the raiders were better equipped than others and had no reason to kill a male
also, they were annoying you constantly for a half-hour while you tried to feed others and live in peace

we would need some limitations on the fights
let's say you build a fort, that fort can be challenged and a timer starts, this has to be done physically, 10 min later a fight starts inside it, all defenders and attackers get there automatically, who are at least 11 years old (1 min old at the moment of the challenge)
this would solve the transport and organization

a fight should be semi-skill based like you could move your character, maybe even aim it or just based on the closest opponent
it could be short turn-based or semi turn-based/action like blood bowl

the shots would be random hit/miss/dodge slightly affected by gear. like you could have heavy hits melee/range or more hp or more dodge, reduce melee/ranged or better aim. these weapons and gear could only be used in fort fights and could even be consumed slowly.
it could be like 3 tiers and 3 values of decay
people who survive until the end it would keep the gear, the ones who get knocked out, would ot die but lose the gears

it could be other rewards like territory control based bonuses
the map should be also changed to have different resource centres and different industries with them

#123 Re: Main Forum » The Mother-Child Relationship Etiquette » 2020-06-12 05:52:49

as a baby, you need to be effective, don't cause problems
if there is a fire then stay
if there isn't then follow them
if you hungry say it
don't talk and spam and beg for clothes

F is for food
O L D is for Old, powder milk won't feed them
Y and N is good enough, K or OK
there was a Q code for experienced but ever noob was using it anyway

HETUW shows names now so that can be good for tracking
hang around discord and you get to know some people, easier that way

as a mom, you should feed kids at least once, if they refuse to follow you in some situations, it's their fault
you shouldn't sacrifice yourself with no reason, so if you still looking for a home, that's your priority, don't stop to feed babies
when I started, I didn't do double-ups, you can't effectively feed yourself while having 2 or more kids outside a camp
you need to calculate how long the food lasts, if you die then is over, if they die, they can be born somewhere else, better to let them die if their survival is not assured

naming yourself and babies right away is really important, some players quit because no name or bad name so get it out of the way
for clothing, keep your backpack at all times, help them make new if they want to but you don't have to hand over everything

I see a lot of people trying to buy others love with clothes they didn't make, that's dumb
just collect clothing as you see them and give them duplicates
the main reason is warmth, not the style, so don't give fancy clothes, it helps with recognizing newbies too
I was testing that when I only gave clothing for the hard workers, the city was running well and the naked noobs were at least asking for help

give them clothing as needed, don't forget that others have babies too, so don't give all to one and let others be fully naked
generally best to give warm clothes to girls, storage for boys
some people like me, like storage way more than warmth or style, so I'm rocking with apron and pants all the time, if that is taken by veterans, they can carry 2 more items, that is a big advantage

only give them clothing if you see that there is no other clothes around, always check, I saw many people giving over clothes and they still could wear something but they don't

help ake clothing or tell them t make clothing

if babies are running around or saying racist or dirty stuff, let them die
I always tell them to find a new mother if they can't even do what I say for the first minutes
they won't survive or be of use anyway

#124 Re: Main Forum » visual indicator for pies » 2020-06-08 11:45:18

just how jason always does it, no interface, no layers
I really loved ONI for that, you can find information about a lot of things and see them separately, yet the main screen remains simple

sometimes I like the simplicity, kind of funny how the dung is just put on the shovel and the bell bases on the bell, but oftentimes I wonder why no variety on the looks of the tings

age of empires has like 37 styles of the same buildings, a lot of parallel techs which are mostly balanced

not everyone is a genius, once I told a french streamer that he had food in his backpack, he died anyway, he was frustrated with the game and didn't start another life

while it can be hard to get used to things like yum, after a while the game is just too simple, it's like a fake image of the unlimited possibilities and options, the world is boring and useless, there is no goal, all attempts are futile

hard to learn the basics, but that includes kind of everything we got, low tech high tech middle tech, all the same, kinda sad

#125 Re: Main Forum » visual indicator for pies » 2020-06-08 09:32:15

without the hetuw, is quite annoying to keep track of foods, I only see the pies that way, sometimes I ask people to share a bite of their speciality pies. I guess your best option is that mod, jason linked all pies to the same sprite.
