I was thinking of the leadership situation earlier and in my opinion, the purpose of the crowns is to add a quick cue on who to ask in a settlement in regards to what. Leaf crown is the foraging/smithing chief, carrot crown is the farming/baking chief, and the wolf crown is the hunting/trapping chief. In this manner anyone in a settlement can find their job, and know who to ask if they need to know. This would also require mothers showing their children where each district works out of, and explaining that crown equals leader of the district
Unfortunately, this server is not for people who want to learn the basics of the game in a safe environment.
Not really true, there's still reduced hunger(I think?) try heading to Northtown or westtown and develop them further if the population is too high in the city.
A warning to those who surround their property with adobe: Put in a door before you finish, or else you leave yourself particularly open to griefing. All someone has to do is put in a partial adobe wall at the opening and the entire area is lost. Even better, don't use adobe, use fences.
this is especially true now that you can't kill griefers.
They can just make a wall in front of your door I think, but it's good thinking, placing enough fences outward that it becomes more hassle than worth might be better. You can take your fencing apart to my knowledge
I don't get everyone's perception of complexity in regards to fire, it takes minimum 5 matetials, yeah, but even a little knowledge on how to actually make fire makes it obvious.
Edit five materials including 2 tools that require constructing upon further thought, so it is tricky but if those are on hand it takes two seconds
I'm very new, can someone tell me how to join a custom server?
The rough info you need to input is at the start of the post, you have to go into a couple game files and change a few things. Files located in the game folder
It's a lot of fun on this server, some very nice breathing room to teach and learn, thank you. Finally learned the smithing hammer, it was a mythical tool to me before snow xD
Is too lewd to incorporate a mechanic and some cue for when a population reaches the 50/50 male/female that some manner of actual sexual rather than asexual reproduction happens? Thereby giving players control over reproduction and giving males value
I jonny milkweedseed whenever I com across milkweed. Pick the fruit and drop two flowers nearby. It's be cool if every epoch these seed on the ground planted into a new wild one though
As an eve I can say I try to raise a5 least 3/4 babies. That 1/4 is when I'm on the berry scramble and already have a baby
Just saw a very solid farm going. Two plots to seed kept a good 6-8 plots for food going, was beside a good 4-8 ponds and the lady there and me could likely have kept going a kid each, I starved like an idiot though. That run out of the every other one starving naked and afraid made me hopeful
It takes more than a lifetime for technology and society to advance, it's 9nly in the last couple hundred years things have gone the way they have for humanity and about 15000 years of "civilisation" before that we had pretty much exactly what this game is simulating, for like 85000 years. Fire was not made in a lifetime
I've been playing bit and I think the balance isn't too bad at this point, you're whole life might be making the hatchet that your one surviving descendant will make the bow drill for so that the third generation has fire.. but i think thats kind of the game? Humans spent a long time going from berry Bush to root and back
Signs of some kind are coming in the future, as are grave stones.
If signs exist then is it to be assumed that writing exists? How are all these nomadic bands writing the same language? It would be odd for an eve, born naked in the wilderness to just know this.
I think it could work into this tribalism mechanic that seems to be developing, to have a sign written in a way that's readable only by other members of that tribe. (Tribe possibly being decided by proximity of home markers [to one another?]) This way knowledge is kept within and passed through a tribe as it was in reality. It would also offer the ability to identify outsiders (can you read our password sign? And if they can't you know they're a wanderer.
Writing is a marker of an already advanced society that has time and need for it. Some advanced civilizations of history didn't even have "proper" alphabets
