I agree spoon vets should focus on teaching and enforcing rules we can all agree on and enforcing them fairly.

I'm Edris Cavan 75 fitness as of posting here. Who else the fitness farmers?   I'd like to meet ya. tongue  Mebbe brainstorm.

What would you say helped fitness? Oh leaders of leaderboard...I'm not being sarcastic either I'd like your take on it.

a few things I feel added to my fitness gains.

-Went nomad
-make disc and wheel with saw and flint-tipped bow drill also used adze to make clogs, basically used extra tool slots on shit tools and mass produced
- Leave carts parts for future
-make fire, crazy how many times I spawn at hearth and make fire at 3 years old then claim the hearth as mine LOL! well I used the tool slot ya?
-teaching kids save food via fire
-good at cooking
-decent at smithing

some of these points might be reduced to just preserve technology gains e.g. fire and carts

a few things I feel added to my fitness gains.

You've done a great service to the community Miskas look at the leaderboard many more above sixty now you were a great force in ending of the kid pocalypse....you and I solved problem round same time...nomad life.

Please tell me you numba one on fitness board?  Otherwise numba one on fitness riding your coat tails..because fitness was tanking until you instructed the community to go nomad. Maybe solved on own but still a good player probably lol.

Also right now good time to farm fitness as live span is recovering from fitness tanking...odd system we have here.  Earlier today I was top of board at 65 now  thirteen people over 60 and top is 98.  I'm content at  60+ currently at 75.

I think fitness over 60 needs some diminishing returns if 98 hit so easy tbh.  Could have anomaly given low life span and massive solving of fitness tanking led to easy fitness gain??? IDK brain storming and off topic but tangent.

#130 Re: Main Forum » Jason, do some god mode (?) » 2019-11-20 20:16:08

the answer isn't more food as you've clearly found out the hard way...its lower population density.

Honestly you should have stabbed that kid that took four pies.

he might be afraid of starving but he should be more afraid of the baker with a knife.

good shit miskas, really like the naming strat I've been using A B C names for child order which doesn't really add much.  I might adopt your Z V N naming convention.

Major truth to this only done four lives in baby apocalypse first one was in beri locust camp and fitness got rekt 6 points.  Bounced the next three lives and made outposts and fitness went up.

nomad strats til the races converge then we can make cities.

Teaching kids temp control and to feed off eve til five helps as well if eve camping.

Edit ok done editing i think meh

#133 Re: Main Forum » Baby Limit » 2019-11-20 18:44:39

I think a one minute internal cooldown on spawning players would do the trick.  Would cap children at 25?  Cooldown triggered when baby turns one to prevent suiciders causing infertility

Would also insure an eve never had more than three helpless children. Not counting twins which are pretty uncommon.

edit I believe Jason also likes problems clearly stated before the community begins brainstorming technically challenging solutions heh.
  So problem is baby spam?

#134 Re: Main Forum » How about boosting yumming a little bit? » 2019-11-20 18:28:54

You're forgetting the feasters who eat yum food as a staple.

Yes in theory but in practice how much yum food gets wasted?  Sure a perfectly modeled citizen could be more efficient but we're dealing with society totals not the lone uber gamer who makes it better.

slightly off topic I made a beri pie for yum and was cursed for it. LOL!

#135 Re: Main Forum » Jason, do some god mode (?) » 2019-11-20 18:25:43

If you think about it how many berries does a naked child eat from three to seven in the locust camps?  Hell do they even live to seven? LOOOOOOOOOOL

Eliminate the waste the eliminate the apocalypse get busy spreading the word?

#136 Re: Main Forum » Jason, do some god mode (?) » 2019-11-20 18:13:57

Make Eve splinter camps flee the locust beri village immediately

I'm gaining fitness and making stable eve camps, learn to fire and teach kids that one thing.

Eve Camp Rules -

kids feed til five off eve
kids sit at / on fire til sevenish
eat first beri followed by beri in bowl at sevenish.  Depends on if they fire dancing and fed at 4.9 years old
teach them to control temperature aka fire dancing   regular fire sit on it large slow fire step on heat up step off repeat.
omelettes are not kid food.
Don't steal camp tools. we very poor tongue

Do those things, be a good cook and smith, you will gain fitness.

I'm Edris Cavan on the leaderboard and I'm maintaining the number one spot thru the "noob apocalypse" Helps having 10 tool slots tbh.

Any other questions?

Honestly we've lost the basic fundamentals thru the game by rushing tech for the players. All we used to have were "eve camps" newcomen pumps didn'y exist well spam did tho ha.

Camp rules are not city rules.  In the city you can feast on beri and have no issue.  In eve camps its a huge issue.

I took a 6 point fitness hit by staying in the Beri Locust camp and attempting damage control...I didn't make that mistake twice neither should you.

#137 Re: Main Forum » A quick survey out of curiosity » 2019-11-20 14:15:15

haha some of those responses are funny, nice to see other's perspective on things some valid opinions in there.

#138 Re: Main Forum » How about boosting yumming a little bit? » 2019-11-20 13:53:39

Tbh yumming probs not worth if viewed from a water efficiency stand point however as a quality of life benefit it is invaluable to me.

Honestly on some chains I don't eat after 50 if I chill by the fire...that allows for a lot of end of life affairs that can be handled at the hearth, writing notes, giving lore and interacting with newly spawned players.

Can do hungry work when too young or old with yum.

Furthermore ever seen an old guy gobble down a pie or more in the last few minutes of his life because he wasn't yumming?

I think it comes down to play style, I certainly lose time running around looking for yum I try to be efficient about it when possible however I will go out of my way to yum.

Also yumming is great for cooks because you end up cooking anything possible and end up learning a ton of recipes, all in the pursuit of yum. LOL

One more thing to consider about yum and food diversity....it's better for longevity and fitness...why?  because mono diet is boring if someone lands in a town with an impressive dining hall with top tier recipes cooked I've observed they stick around longer.

Honestly those factors are tough to weigh yeah it's less water efficient but the quality of life from the extra hunger obtained is huge.

I'd venture to say factoring the fringe benefits of yumming it would be borderline too good at two bonus pips.

#139 Re: Main Forum » Birth rate » 2019-11-20 09:52:25

I get branded a griefer if I attempt any population control tbh...rough it went down like that.

Nomad strats are viable perhaps even optimal in a young world.

The fitness will recover from your posts you sound like a good leader who sets the village in the right direction.

-cheers

#140 Re: Main Forum » Rethinking travel through bad biomes » 2019-11-19 23:22:04

Honestly the fact that I have to make navigational decisions now based on whether or not I'm carrying something makes exploration more dynamic, before I used to just charge across the map on a horse only caring about the desert biome and snakes.

Now I actually run into blocks that I need to plan around and makes the world seem more immersive tbh.

Roads also seem very practical now since a specialist can literally pave the way for the next generation to travel thru the bad biome.

Just my two cents tho.

#141 Re: Main Forum » Come on Jason, this doesn't fkin work » 2019-11-19 21:21:50

Some of my more meaningful lives were spent searching for other towns.

Currently if you try to rush newcomen pumps and consume vast amounts of water via composting and beri snacking you're in for a bad time.  An early Civ can be quite stable if corn, cows and eggs are used wisely.

A swamp biome with many ponds can sustain quite a large population if ducks are preserved...yes I know that's hard.

Tbh well hopping and semi nomadic lifestyle early game is the way.  If you try to drop an advanced Civ before locating other races you're gonna fall on your face.  Gone are the days of rushing diesel, adapt and overcome.

I generally explain to the survivors of a civ at old age the importance of finding the desert people and being nomadic.

#142 Re: Main Forum » How do you parent children? this is my way. » 2019-11-19 07:25:25

Hi baby!

Asks for name? I'll name you when I'm forty if you live X years til I'm forty.

Perform follow test. If fail retest, fail again? let baby die.

Perform stay test.  Won't stay? Retest doesn't stay? Won't raise.

Tell only thing mama wanna hear if K or F.  F for food and K as acknowledgement.  Failure to stop talking?  Abandoned / disowned.

Give relevant village and situational data.

Clothe if  available, name if they didn't ask.

Might ask them to saw logs or drill discs if none in town.  Basically tax them a tool slot which all Eves should do imo.

Send em on their way.

That's an ideal scene obviously sometimes it's just stay on the fire mama is busy.

#143 Re: Main Forum » This new update makes me miss the Rift.....please don't shoot me XD » 2019-11-19 05:54:49

yeah i was gonna propose killing off a brown family since there are three...uncertain of mechanics involving eve spawns exactly tho...eliminating families would do it?

pretty cheese that for progress we gotta axe a family?

#144 Re: Main Forum » Coming Soon: Genetic score changes » 2019-11-19 03:41:12

cool i've been getting huge fitness hits from yumming and suicide babies

So spawn from Eve Love in jungle as indian...Eve uncertain what to do raises to me to 3 and I take off east...run thru some ruins I run a couple times raise a few kids on the run.

I'm a little pressed for time end up losing one, one suicider and leave a boy and girl at first dying ginga village with two elder inhabitants left over.  Newcomen pump is tapped but tons of iron.  I explain kids is live efficient and hope help arrves.  Pick up knife grab buckets of rubber and kernals and leave kids and the materials in town.

Continue north-east following dry spring ley lines find another desert ruins but they didn't leave sulfur sadly.  Find a horse and cart and eventually find an active ginga town deliver bucket of latex and kernals they had sulfur already and some rubber from before.  Write about family left behind and how they may need oil pumpjack from gingas.  I forgot to bring map tho, derp.

Long story short it is possible to get goods delivered by second generation across quite a distance think I traveled 1.5 k tiles on foot and maybe another 1k on horse.  Got to last village around 52.

Kinda cool tbh thought  I'd share.

#146 Re: Main Forum » Weeks to build score, one day to loose it. » 2019-11-17 11:27:31

oh yeah forgot make meds, wear an apron and be sure to lock in weapon skill in your slots. Kill and curse griefers that one bad apple can cost you a lot of fitness.

By make meds I mean like full apron 2 or three bowls with needle and thread in different locations and monitor them.

If you do spot a bad apple alert town before attacking, make sure others observe the person first so you don't get killed as the "griefer" or so the town doesn't waste meds healing the griefer.

At 45+ fitness living to sixty only get you .2 fitness btw

#147 Re: Main Forum » Weeks to build score, one day to loose it. » 2019-11-17 09:53:33

well then you held out or were modest if all you share is hey i live to sixty did nothing special if you cooked you earned your rank period or didn't know how you got good fitness but when i dont cook my fitness tanks.

cool man keep on bossing cooking.  it wasn't a shot a cooks lol

also yumming is bad for fitness tbh having less kids prob made the difference tbh

yeah for sure being able to stabilize town is essential for gaining fitness. knowing whats needed next in the step of civ planning ahead settin next gen up to win.

#148 Re: Main Forum » You will notice something weird about the map... » 2019-11-17 04:12:05

serious the new biome mechanics are griefer havens adapt and overcome i guess.

so gonna need three specialist competent guards to be safe from grief.....oh boi

#149 Re: Main Forum » Weeks to build score, one day to loose it. » 2019-11-17 04:06:41

he coat tailed on a good cooks back probably. there is a bit of a luck factory involved but you can def impact your fitness score.  get good at cooking, eve and living to sixty and your score should stay above thirty.

i was third at 48 and change it's def nice having 9 tool slots, but back down thirties cause low tech and server changes.

#150 Re: Main Forum » Pristine abandoned cities.... » 2019-11-16 02:07:38

nice in game surveying map is a powerful tool I'd def be interesting in helping this venture.  if have two bells ringing you can use bell timers to triangle position on map as well.  Long as we standardize the grid and numerals we gucci.
