Haha, pretty sure there is lot more to this story, i´d love to get the full picture.
Not much more to do it, somebody was asking to die over and over it. I suspected it was the same person that was spam /die'ing on us. They kept saying "fuck you" and "kill me" over and over. Raging because she didn't get the spawn she wanted.
Anyways I killed her and she says "ty" but then my son comes 5 seconds later and stabs me. "You killed a girl mum" "You're bad"
Makes me feel better that he starved not long after. Of course, the stab happy moron can't live to sixty in a city.
Get bent, If I was bad I wouldn't have raised your ass and given you a town tour.
Don't act all morale when you can only judge people based on the latest 5 seconds instead of past actions.
I've seen people fighting along the roads a few times, even got attacked myself last life. I always felt uneasy whenever I encountered another person along the roads, In the cities, you are relatively safe but nobody would know if you died far enough from towns.
So what if you had a rare chance of having a different baby, This gives isolated villages a chance to progress even if they can't find other families.
I'd say have it happen for boys only just because of entire families changing races would be confusing. Plus it means sometimes you might actually be happy about a male baby for once. You have a chance to feel special and actually make an impact on your town.
Asphalt roads: Byproduct of crude oil, Allows for building longer roads much faster. This would improve late-game because you can access resources more easily. Possibility of paving machines which means you could build a highway in life rather than several. Possibly makes cars even faster to encourage there use. (PS, Road locking cars would be ideal)
Power tools, Easier to use and doesn't need tool slots but you need to be an adult to use them. Or you could just have one slot for all power tools.
Electric Lathes, Bores, Rollers, Drills, Hammers, etc. Quality of life tech that let's you manufacture Engine+ tech with less difficulty.
Electric Kiln, Forge and Oven. The same thing as above, I'm tired of still using long shafts in the "end-game".
Road signs, Same as way stones but better.
Cellphone. Can talk to anyone else with a cellphone as long as you've built a phone tower within range. More advanced version could have a map function. Basically you can switch to any available location and talk to people remotely, way cooler than paper maps.
I object
It would be easy to troll since nobody could do anything besides cursing, Which I view as almost pointless. I've cursed dozens of griefers and yet I still see them being born.
You wouldn't need any intelligence, Just openly steal and destroy everything. Basically you'd have an hour to undo as much progress as you can.
Killing is a deterrent for most griefing, If you are caught then you will have to escape an angry mob. Without it, the angry mob can only shout at you. The other day I was randomly stabbed by a ghost dude, medics healed me and other townspeople stabbed him within seconds.
If you have medics and enough supplies, you can prevent most death. But without it, The griefer can live the whole hour.

I don't find playing in megacities repetitive at all. It's like people are so used to village life that they cant handle the complex endgame.'It's meaningless', I hear them say all the time (I do not comprehend this).
I agree. An easy way to fix stagnation or make the current endgame the beginning of something epic is to extend the tech tree. Make it huge! Stuff like rockets, phones, gps, binoculars, railroads, advanced cars, computers, electricity, air conditioning, furnaces, electronic lathe drill bore hammer roller, several tiers of generators and much more. About a year ago, a youtube video made by Jason gave the impression that 10,000 craftable items would be available in game. Today we sit at about 2225.
I agree, Bigger and better projects to work on.
But Ruben probably spends the first 20 minutes scavenging for clothes, Then another 20 dressing babies and then final 20 minutes dressing grandkids and eating. A megacity isn't any more complex than a budding eve camp, they both need the same things. Food, Water and babies.

You really need to stop calling the beginning the end.

Okay then smart guy, What's your average life in a mega-city look like?
It's harder to actually reach the End-Game but once you do gameplay becomes repetitive. Pretty much the only challenge is having to dig oil over and over and killing the same griefers again and again.
In the early game, It's easy enough to progress once you the foundations set up. Then it's kind of luck-based whether you find the right people to help you progress to steam power. Then you have some time to expand the town and hopefully attract all three races into one town.
But for all the work building a capital city, You just get awarded with stagnation. The only real concern is the occasional oil crisis or minor conflicts. You have plenty of supplies to sustain yourself and everyone else for the entire hour.
So how do we keep the players on their toes once they reach the end?
Be cool if we could more foods on the table, instead of only having the specific things.
It could be useful in storing foods that don't usually fit in containers like cooked turkeys and sliced bread etc. Also rotating it and be able to make long tables by building new tables adjacent to it.
Tech updates when?
Why'd you shit on me when I suggested nerfing the horse earlier?
Besides that, I agree with you. We really are due for a tech update anyways.
Yeah, it is, they did it, is it so hard to see a situation from another perspective? or just the fact that you consider yourself good and others evil and you watched too many western-style catholic movies? whatever twisted thinking they got, surely they won't be suicidal regretful anti-heroes who just wait until you kill them cause of their remorse.
also not hard to look at people what they are doing.Since the new system is not skill-based, you have to give others the weapon to kill them, and you cover them.
When I was able to dodge, I killed two of the triplet griefers alone and dodged an arrow at slow down, couldn't do it twice and he had no balls to wait for my slow down, but it still was a lesson to them that they shouldn't mess with anyone.
We don't have duel or a system, stay out of it, let others be the heroes, martyrs and baits. You can give them a posse bonus and they might get killed or cursed after. Win-win.
You were 1v2 and misjudging the situation. People are dumb, it's nothing new. I still say that skill-based system at least kept noob griefers on hold.
You don't account for lag. I didn't know the other guy was also griefing till afterwards.
I feel like refusing to kill a griefer because "someone else will" is bad form. I love that you are always patronizing even when you are seemingly trying to help.
When a foreign person stabs another and you can't understand what should you do.
I was in the Hub with the Kontz/Dobbie fam, Was two griefers in the other fam. Pretty low tier griefers, One would randomly stab others and his buddy would feed and heal them if anybody decided to fight back.
But I didn't know that it at the time, I always ask "why?" or "?" before I decide whether to kill a murderer. Just because I hate killing dirtbags and then being killed it for it. Anyways none of them spoke my language and I had no idea what to do, I decided not to kill them and after they got off slowdown they stabbed me.
Normally I either understand them enough to know their motives or somebody else stabs them. Usually when the other fam dosn't kill them it means they might've been good. But had the balls to attack or I was the only armed person around.
It makes me wonder if it should have an exception to my rule if I don't speak their language. Also, I hate having bad internet. I cannot kill shit unless they don't move at all and I don't escape shit. Even when it looks I've made it out, A wound will suddenly appear on me.
This is why I made that horse thread, Pein thinks it's so easy to kill people. Not when you have my setup and less experience.
Quite a long time, The Hub's been around for at least a week.
If I'm attacked but healed, Is it acceptable to stab the person back?
Yeah horses can get taken out by arrows. People think they are safe and try to keep distance but often misjudge it and get shot off.
Hmm, I will try that. But generally, bows aren't so common and I don't usually learn them. I'd learn knife because of it's multi-functionality.
It would be satisfying to shoot them down, So many smug fucks.
Even non-griefer wise, I still think horses need a nerf. We don't have a reason to build cars even though they are higher-tech, therefore should be better.
if you wanna deal with griefers Just curse them, don't kill them.
Also, use their griefing as proof to persuade the whole village to curse them.
Let them grief again so you can persuade more people.
If you do that It will be the last time you will be dealing with him for the next 30 days.
Sure, That may help in the long run. Not sure how effective a curse really is but it is at least something they can't avoid.
But that doesn't help at all in the here and now. They still essentially get free reign of the town.
It is very easy to terrorize towns with a horse, Kill all sheep and steal loot. You can evade any attackers, Even if they have a horse too you need to get off to attack them and by then they are out of range.
Maybe I'm just bad but I struggle to kill anybody who's riding a horse. If theirs some grand anti horse tactics I would genuinely appreciate some pointers.
Some ideas.
Some kind of lance or something you can use while riding. Even if you could just knock them off you'd have a chance to go in with a weapon.
Horses needing food and water instead of being almost immortal.
It's also the only real way to make a city. You need to draw in all races to reach the end game.
I honestly like it, We weren't supposed to use bowls forever. Even though Jason got mad, He has listened to my feedback. It may seem like a side thing but it is at least advancement in diplomacy.
I also don't really mind the specialization stuff. It makes it harder to advance and the game more difficult. Before you could easily advance and have cities everywhere. Now we had One Central city with high-tech, It stood out against the other villages. People flocked to the megacity and it thrived.
Anyways like I said before, This is an advancement in diplomacy. Meaning their something before it, The hatchet is essential for the axe but once you have an Axe you no longer need it. The town lets us talk to each other and can make good roleplay.
And I'm glad to finally have tables.
"This baby is brand new"
Right, Stick em in the pen.
So the belltower is actually useful. So much for all the wannabe pro's talking shit about gold.
Spoonwood is the alpha and the omega (bringing the topic back on track, you're welcome) they are the truth shining like a beacon from the deepest darkness. They are our gateway to an alternate universe otherwise unreachable. We can learn from them. Nay, we must. Venture forth JasonY, lesser of Jasons, and expand.
Some writing talent right here.
If you wrote a book, I'd probably buy it.
So you've only been here a week I know by the registered date by your name... unless you were here under a different acount. You can click on my name review old posts that I started with. No, I did not have another account in some other name as some other people have. As I recall, I originally posted more on reddit than on the forums. Here were two of my posts: https://www.reddit.com/r/onehouronelife … iring_and/ https://www.reddit.com/r/onehouronelife … _eve_runs/
My purposes aren't the same from post to post. Sometimes I mean mostly to raise questions. Sometimes I mean to complain about something thinking the game could be better in that respect, either because of my taste, what I've read on discord by others, or for other reason such as the tool skill system only having negative effects in an Eve-chaining context where no one else shows up apparently. Sometimes I've been unhappy with how community members have gotten treated and have wanted to express that. If you check my reddit posts above there's a tutorial for smithing, and a reflection on Eve runs which are rather different purposes.
In my own defense with respect to fug's comment, I've even gone to lengths to think about how the tool skill system has consequences for new players which not having such didn't (that mostly seems positive... newbs I think tend to almost always fall into needing/wanting direction in game... like the person who says 'job?' when she turns 3). I have built a number of roads. Mostly on the old server12 before it got wiped or lost because people didn't keep going back to the area.
You said alot without actually answering my question. Can you be like your name and spoonfeed me your origin story. Was it just that you decided to microwave your phone one day and developed superhuman intellect?
