I'm sorry destiny but I failed maths HARD in school even after trying more than once with multiple teachers lol so most equations sound like gibberish to me, which might explain why I don't 'get' the true food value of everything and why I make 'bad' pie.

Take a moment to think about that.

I appreciate the effort to try and explain it to me but numbers turn my brain to mush.

#202 Re: Main Forum » Do most of new players give up because they can’t do anything? » 2020-01-16 18:10:24

It's simple really. My playstyle is this; Early-ish town with smaller farms and sheep's that can be churned for mutton pie is good! You don't need all the variety pies when you don't have a big town. I can agree with you on that! It's wasteful too early on.

Now a mega town with everything? Make yum pies. All kinds. I usually make most pies mutton and rabbit then make a few rabbit/carrot, berry/rabbit, berry/rabbit/carrot and like only one or two of the bad pies. Berry pie, Carrot pie and berry/carrot pies should not be a thing in any early town or any place where farms are struggling for obvious reasons.

Now I can also agree that in most places nowadays water is the biggest struggle so it's not sustainable to make ALL the pies all the time. I get that.

#203 Re: Main Forum » Do most of new players give up because they can’t do anything? » 2020-01-16 17:18:25

I have encountered the mutton pie supremacists pay them no mind. It's their 'only make good filling foods' playstyle clashing with the yummers and it happens every now and then. As someone who spent a lot of their new hours playing as a yum baker I have a few stories of similar people filling all the pie crusts I made with mutton meat, mashing all of the rabbits before anyone can add a carrot, verbally aggro-ing you if you try to get them to stop. In their own way they think they're helping lol.

I know that if I make the jump to 2hol I probably won't come back and I'm not ready to give up yet. I don't blame players new and old for playing a different version with less restrictive mechanics and different features though. Some of them sound kinda nice.

Agreed. I don't have a problem teaching my kids the beginner tasks, but often the problem is that just as I get started teaching I have another baby and have to give up teaching the first one. Or the town doesn't have the supplies to teach the beginner tasks such as compost. Compost is pretty complicated for a new player so if we don't have soil readily available then I probably won't bother teaching.

I do however with that men & old people choose to take a more active roll in teaching the town's children. Or if there were more items in town to allow for the creation of a school.  Maybe like baker or smith, the towns should try better to have a teacher.

I used to enjoy teaching back in the golden days where water was easy enough to get and resources weren't locked behind colour. I used to enjoy teaching before there was an influx of new players via steam that made it so if you started teaching ONE person who asked then a bunch of newbs would try to watch you (fair enough not a bad strat) OR they would dog pile on the area messing shit up or even just follow you around after the fact and keep asking you to teach them while you're trying to get back to work to the point where you snap at them and get called X amount of names for just trying to get back to town upkeep lol.

testo wrote:

Unfortunately mass learning is not a thing in the game. The main reason being the need for everyone to perform the tasks related to the craft they are learning. I managed once to teach two people how to make stew at the same time. Three people at the same time? Impossible. With everyone just running around and picking up the stuff needed, trying to set directions for more than one person is pretty hard.

Indeed, teaching wasn't like this before the changes and steam sale. It used to be so rewarding to teach a brand new player almost everything you could in one life but now we can't waste all of our time doing it because there are just too many newbies to teach and not enough patient vets to help keep everything else running.

#205 Re: Main Forum » Suggestion: Illness and Health » 2020-01-16 13:52:06

What about a player like wasabi who ALWAYS does a majority of the good work in town with a massive amount of tool slots but they don't yum. They eat whatever is near or they store one good pie for later. I don't think it would be fair or fun.

A love story for the ages, beautiful. I have a tale of caution.

A crazy lady(the blonde one ofc) I grew up with wanted silly dating and marriage and because I almost never rp that kind of stuff I decided what the hell and played along! So this lead to the infamous tree dance and she actually had a baby right afterwards, for a second I thought that shit actually worked and she was like 'yeah I knew that would happen' wtf lmao. She was all kinds of rp crazy talking about babies out of wedlock, she was a dick to the kids, ordered me around and wanted another bby after awhile so we did the same thing, all clothes off lol. This time some kid stole her wooly sweater and my crazy wife popped out with her shank and started threatening them. I thought it was funny but ohhhh boy...

So we have another baby soon after (wtf voodoo magic I'm sure) and all is well. After I raise the bby to three, another kid from a different race fam I think comes running up to me and to the berries needing food ofc I fed them and clothed them and named them too after they said their ma ran away/didn't notice them. Kid is three and thanks me, then my wife runs over with /anger all over her face.
"I saw everything on zoom, how dare you!"
Oh shit! Wife accuses me of cheating with another woman, gets her knife out. I pretty much plead my case the first couple of minutes, still roleplaying along with it ...but then she curses me.
Holy crap.
Then she stabs me!

At this point I just start cry laughing hysterically irl and can barely hold my shit together but I curse her back, saying that I regretted ever getting involved with her crazy married life roleplay shenanigans in the first place but my god I will always remember it.

Should have seen that coming lmfao.

I don't think it would be a stretch to say a majority of players would agree with you on that too. Some people think fun content isn't 'needed' (tatts, Halloween masks, rosy hats etc) but I like these small little gifts that let us light up trees, dress fancy or even new cooking recipes I appreciate them all! I wish machinery and tools would start upgrading but hey we can't have it all right now.

Oof I feel that. I enjoyed playing stardew valley for ages and only every watched rust vids on yt because the game is clearly far too chaotic for me to actually play.
I've been watching a lot of OHOL lately...which is a lil worrying lol; Twisted/Wasabi/Doctrzombie/Telafiesta etc and I find I still don't want to play the game regularly myself because their games are already full of situations that I don't really miss.

#209 Re: Main Forum » So boring » 2020-01-14 21:44:31

A decreased water supply? Last time I played most big towns were struggling to get the correct coloured people needed to actually keep a water supply going so no I wouldn't like it! I don't play on the less populated servers either I don't get to play in paradise lol.

Don't like the idea of even less tool slots because I've had more gameplay hours than new ppl, I would literally just quit at that point. hmm Is this a legit suggestion?

I wouldn't appreciate it if OHOL became grindier, more repetitive and harder just because boredom. I don't have oodles of patience to give because I've given it all away already. "╭( ಥ﹏ಥ)╮"

OHOL is the exception believe it or not. I have a beagle myself and if someone breeds one in any town I'm born into I'll slash die outta there so fast. I can't be the only overly sensitive dog person here right?!

Sorry for the tangent I just heard beagle and my nerves started up.

It doesn't help that Jason said that mothers teaching children is like THE DONE THING in game when in fact it takes a majority of your life to teach even basic things especially if your kids are slow learners(One of my sons called me a bad mom because I was too busy to teach lol). I don't think we need the extra pressure right now because in a post biome locked and race restricted world there is too much to do in too little time. Teaching used to be FUN before we had to constantly worry about water and oil but now I just tell new players to go on onetech because everything you can learn is there.

#213 Re: Main Forum » Most annoying/strange people in-game? » 2020-01-14 15:48:18

I liked the shop idea at first but seeing ppl steal the resources instead of making them grinds my gears too!   Seeing people getting stabbed over trying to get their stolen items back irritates me big time. If I'm ever a baker and you try to steal most of the pies I will bloody chase you down for them I don't care if others call it overkill.

I agree that robots and aliens should be a very late game thing if anything and that small upgrades to existing tools and machinery should be a thing. I found a couple examples! A better kiln and a chainsaw! If you haven't already check them out!

https://youtu.be/t1A1PN12mRY - Better kiln

https://youtu.be/t6iP0DCkDuA - Chainsaw

I love cosmetic upgrades too but racial specialization has made it so gingers have most of the fun with roses, if the biomes stay race locked I really believe the special biomes should have MORE unique items of clothing, food, building materials or SOMETHING to make it worthwhile. Right now it's used just to lock us out of getting oil "too early" so it should be updated to include new items so each special race can craft something cool.

Removing everyone's ability to do everything has already been a big hit to some players, to the point where a bunch feel alienated or decided to stop playing so I'm just saying some Eskimo/jungle/desert swag would soften the blow a little.

Idk what to do with white people maybe give them foxes to hunt or something if you wanna be accurate lol.(Don't)

I hate too many cooks in the kitchen if I'm baking and lighting the oven, one other person helping isn't an issue, any more than three however WILL cause me to get salty and call ppl out. Especially since when I bake I make yum pies, bread, butter if we have cows etc. Turkey etc. Could barely click on the oven cause of crowding, I told ppl to get out and said we didn't need two extra people and I said we needed space. They just went "lol she triggered about pie" My rage climbing, I took out my knife and they left. Didn't stab anyone but they kept harassing me afterwards like I did somethin lol. Don't run into the kitchen and pretend like you helped make anything is my point and don't put a FCKIN TURKEY IN THE OVEN BEFORE THE PIES ARE DONE YOU CHUNGUS.

#219 Re: Main Forum » Problem: Eve Spiral's westward march ruins the game » 2020-01-10 17:55:48

Town progression sure has struggled since race restrictions and I don't think it's an accident that the tech tree is harder to climb either. Weird priorities making the game harder than it already was. Do ppl that like strat survival games just love the punishment and the slow slog to maybe victory? If it gets any harder plebs like me won't be able to play and I'm sure I'm not the only one lol.

#221 Re: Main Forum » Lineages Might Last Longer If Killing Was Impossible/Pesistent IDs » 2020-01-10 00:16:38

I agree with you Villas, on pretty much everything especially about the biggest problem being the resource hoarding, destroying tools, wasting steel/water/rubber and pretty much anything lol. Horses, Trees, Bears, farming/seeds, kiln/oven/building breaking/locks and hidden keys, sheep, cows etc etc I imagine anything and everything that could be abused would be tenfold. We need to be able to kill and that's facts.

Also I usually don't like online multiplayer games with PvP, partly because I suck at them and partly because I just don't enjoy the experience in general. In THIS game though even I understand murder is necessary, the combat 'system' is whack and not difficult to pull off for anyone which is the point. We have slowdown and alerts now so be thankful for that.

#223 Re: Main Forum » Lineages Might Last Longer If Killing Was Impossible/Pesistent IDs » 2020-01-09 21:09:16

I'm just saying, this is not a foolproof plan that will have zero consequences attached to it. People founded groups during apocalypse and rift, I can imagine a "no killing" griefer squad would be quite an annoyance to handle.

You should only migrate if you HAVE to because of resources, (which happens regularly enough)not because of griefing otherwise they just keep winning and we'll keep losing. I and many people would not be happy with no kill mechanics and I am willing to bet people will kick up a fuss about it, so much so that they will just abuse the system till killing will have to be turned back on. It's happened before with rift and apocalypse and would happen again if no kill is implemented. I'm just telling you now, it's obvious.

#224 Re: Main Forum » Lineages Might Last Longer If Killing Was Impossible/Pesistent IDs » 2020-01-09 20:20:14

Migrating ALL THE TIME is just NOT manageable and you should know that Spoon. If killing was gone we'd be absolutely screwed because one griefer without any way to take them out can and will destroy a timeline. Imagine towns with multiple griefers doing their thing all over the map with NO WAY to stop them. Even if you move you'll give birth to a griefer or your children will or one could discover you easy and you want us to just keep running? A horrid game of cat and mouse forever?
Hell no please and thank you!
